Bar Chouette

Bar Chouette in downtown Calgary delivered an outstanding dining experience. Thanks to Chef’s thoughtful arrangement, everything was seamless from start to finish. The wine pairings were exceptionally well done, with each dish perfectly complemented by every sip. The trio of beef tartar, oyster, and trout pâté—beautifully presented on a bed of rocks—was a standout for both elegance and flavor. Every course maintained a high standard, with the dill cucumber salad being especially refreshing. The service was excellent, with knowledgeable staff guiding us through the menu. The chic, open atmosphere added to the experience, enhanced by the French-inspired chef’s personal touch and genuine care for guest satisfaction. Reservations are highly recommended, as the restaurant fills up quickly. A must-visit for food lovers.

Me and my husband sat at the bar table, and the customers next to us were talking so loudly that it ruined the vibe. Our food was prepared by a new sous chef that night who was still in training. Our server was nice though. We paid more than $300 for the meal. For that price, I would easily choose Luca or Major Tom for better seating and more decent food.

Wow, my husband and I just had the best time at Bar Chouette while visiting Calgary from Edmonton! Seriously, this place is a gem. The food? Absolutely amazing! Every dish we tried was a hit. Each bite was packed with flavor, and you can really tell the chefs know what they’re doing. Everything looked so good too! If you’re ever in Calgary, you’ve got to check out Bar Chouette. We already can’t wait to go back for another delicious meal!

Everything was really good. Started off with yummy warm fluffy milk buns drizzled with condensed milk, and a side of charcoal butter. Their Squid Ink spaghetti was delicious and came with ample seafood and sauce. The prawn katsu sando had the perfect crunch, and paired well with their tartar sauce. We also ordered the grilled oyster mushrooms which I forgot to take a photo for because we devoured it. Would recommend.

Love the vibe here. It's small but cozy, and the open kitchen is always great. We sat at the bar so was able to interact with the chef, kitchen staff, and owner. We opt for the a la carte instead of the set menu so we can try everything. The milk bread is a must try. Super soft and melts in your mouth like butter. The beef tartar was interesting because they used tapioca crackers. I didn't love the season. it was a bit sweet. The steak was cooked well, and the scallop crudo was super fresh. Squid ink pasta didn't have too many flavors but overall decent. I just had classic cocktails, so I'm not sure if their signature ones are good. Overall, great vibes, decent food and friendly staff.

Really enjoyed dinner today. We arrived at 5:30pm to catch happy hour before it ended at 6pm. It was 30% off snacks, raw food, and drinks. Ordered the milk buns with charcoal butter. Loved those but didn’t see the need for the charcoal butter. Maybe if it was ube flavoured or something it would have added to the milk buns experience, but the buns themselves were perfect already. The prawn sando was really good. Enjoyed the tartar sauce a lot. The Humboldt squid was really tender and tasty. It’s hard to come across seafood that isn’t overdone or chewy sometimes at restaurants but this was cooked perfectly. The dessert was unique and refreshing! Great service, very attentive. Had made a note that we were celebrating a birthday but they didn’t mention it, but that’s okay!

Best restaurant I’ve been to Calgary so far Everything was unexpectedly amazing🤩 Will try to remake the mushroom as it was delicious🤤 Bill was $135 including tips, not a cheap meal but definitely worth it ❗️

Great service and ambience. We did not try much food but drinks and appetizers were awesome. They were out of few drinks off the menu when we went on a weekday night, but our server gave us GOOD recommendations based on what I mentioned we'd like and what they had. For food, we got triple cooked potatoes and cheese souffle dish (the bread was too charred to let the subtle cheese flavors come through). Makes a lovely spot for date night.
