"After a rocky start full of shifts and pivots during the pandemic, this rosé-hued hideaway on Northwest 21st seems to have hit its stride. Visitors can enjoy the hidden, covered patio or the indoor space with a bottle of wine or something from the smaller, but thoughtfully developed by-the-glass menu of rosés, chilled reds, sparklings, funky oranges, and approachable reds and whites at affordable price points. On the other side of the spectrum, the bottle list is often packed with cool, intrepid producers from nearby and afar like Maloof Wines and Domaine Anne-Sophie Dubois, with plenty of take-home choices from the sister bottle shop Negociant next door." - Zoe Baillargeon, Alex Frane
"If modern romance is still characterized by rosy hues and low lighting, Bar Diane is just the ticket. The tucked-away wine bar on NW 21st greets visitors with polka dot pink and red wallpaper, plus some pink chairs and white marble countertops that set the stage for intimacy. Menus for both wine and food include the usual suspects of France-meets-Oregon local-influenced dining in Portland, from caviar service and chicken liver mousse to Loire Valley whites and Oregon reds — plus a handful of well-made classic cocktails. The bottle selections emphasize celebrating with bubbles, offering several Pét Nats and real Champagne to choose from. However, the unsung hero of Bar Diane might be the milk rolls — pillowy bread that comes on its own or served alongside a briny array of tinned fish and pickles." - Katrina Yentch, Thom Hilton, Brooke Jackson-Glidden
"Tucked down an alley in Northwest Portland, this wine bar is primarily known for its selection of cool European glass pours and skin contact bottles. However, the kitchen also serves a wide selection of well executed snacks, including burrata. Though the menu changes with somewhat regularity, the kitchen recently served the cheese with preserved maitake mushrooms, stone fruit, and pistachios. It should work well with the current white by the glass, or even some bubbles." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
"Bar Diane offers a cool vibe with a cute pink mural designed by the owner who is also a graphic designer. The food is great and you can stay under budget by grabbing a few snacks and a few glasses of wine." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
"Tucked down an alley across the street from Cinema 21, Bar Diane is both a quiet, cute spot to grab a glass of wine ahead of a movie and a main event dinner destination. The cheerful pink and blue dining room keeps the vibe light, with an outdoor patio for those who prefer a little fresh air; the by-the-glass list includes several strong pours for natural wine nerds, plus spritzes, cocktails, beers, and nonalcoholic drinks for all types. Share some oysters and hamachi crudo — maybe even splurge on some caviar if you’re looking to impress — and if you decide to linger for dinner, the burrata and butter poached carrots are standouts." - Asia Alvarez, Brooke Jackson-Glidden
