The 26 Best Restaurants In São Paulo - São Paulo - The Infatuation

"Practically every street in São Paulo has a lanchonete—a corner spot serving snacks, beer, and a cheap, filling lunch—that workers of every stripe flock to for a midday meal. At first glance, Bar do Biu looks the same as any other. But behind the fairly nondescript façade is one of the city’s best restaurants. It’s simple and homely, with children’s paintings of animals on the walls and a fridge covered in Corinthians stickers. Staples are done well, including feijoada and oxtail, but the standout dishes hail from the northeast of Brazil, like the baião de dois: a huge pile of salted carne de sol, rice, beans, pumpkin, cassava, cheese, smoked sausage, and clarified butter. Even a small portion can easily feed four." - tome morrissy swan

If you're looking for an authentic local dining experience with traditional Brazilian cuisine, this is the perfect spot. It has the charm of a family-owned business with a home-cooked feel. While it's not a fancy, touristy place, the flavors are exceptional. Plus, it's more affordable than most tourist restaurants. They are open until 18:00

A friend of ours who lives near SP recommended this place. Highlight of the menu was Baiao. It was something new to me and since I've had Feijoada in many places we opted to try it out with dry meat (a moda). Additionally to the staff recommended to get a hump meat (cupim) as well. We are not Portuguese speakers and the staff were very kind working with us using Google translate. In addition, they even gave us an appetizer on the house. Food : amazing. Just that. It's very simple food but making it would have taken quite some time. Very homey. Staff : as I've mentioned they worked with us using Google translate. One thing to note is that we went during earlier hours when they were a bit less busy. Wait time : we didn't have to wait because we went fairly early. Overall : it's a great experience and hopefully I'll get to try other items on the menu again!

Local home cooked “feijioda” and other typical Brazilian meals. It gets busy on Saturday around lunch time (2-3 PM). Expect to wait long time if you have a large group(>4 pp).Pic below is the feijioda simples. Will do for 1-2 pp.

Great Brazilian food. If you want to eat like a local, go there. The place is famous for its baião de dois.

Incredibly satisfied with the traditional feijoada I ordered for delivery. Generous portions and rich in flavour. I would like to dine in next time.

One of the Vila Madalena's hotspot, popular with all ages, this restaurant delivers a nice mix of Brazilian dishes, including feijoada, coxinha and pastel. The restaurant is decorated with Corinthians photos and homages for the soccer team. Picturesque at least.

Yelp
I had a feijoada lite for lunch here on a Sunday. Service was fast and the food was really good. They also have a full feijoada and other typical Brazilian dishes here. I couldn't finish it so I had the leftovers packed. Despite not speaking English, they managed to do a good job with service. The ambience is sort of hole-in-the-wall and the interior is very very dated. The only problem I had was that they do not have AC and it was kinda hot. Perhaps it is better for dinner. Card payments are accepted here.

Yelp
Now, it is important to say that is a very local bar, for me it was a unique experience and will always be so. Good homemade taste, but mostly simple site and nothing luxurious. You could easily overlook this low-key boteco, unless it's a Saturday afternoon, and you are looking somewhere that there is no crowds spill out the door around. Be prepared to wait for a table outside, or head inside to grab a table in a space adorned with football team strips. Don't miss the famed baião de dois - a north-eastern buttery rice dish studded with jerky... Again, be careful with your "bar environment" expectation. :D

Yelp
walk down the stairs to the new street. walk into the front. walk into the back stop walking. all is eating now.

Yelp
Saturday in Sao Paulo means feijoada and it is best in a traditional neighborhood bar (boteco) known for it. The complete version with the medley of meats and bottomless pot of scalding black beans is one of my absolute musts in life at least once a year. Bar do Biu not only delivers but for a low price in a cool old corner building with closely packed seats in back. The beer is ice cold and the service excellent. But most important, I was in ecstasy as soon as I saw the food hit the table. And the rest of the menu was exciting to me also for next time. Alas, you can't get this stuff in the U.S., so I have to keep visiting SP or I will be bereft.
