Bar do Guincho

This beach bar was a good choice to eat and drink a d visiting the surroundings. The terrace has an amazing view to the beach and it also looks very nice having many tables with different preferences. The drinks were very good, food was not great not terrible. What we liked the most was the ordering procedure, scanning the QR and taking the order from your phone. Afterwards the staff comes and brings your food and you pay it right away. This way you will never have to wait for the bill and etc. I recommend this place!

A hidden gem that comes with an excellent sunset view. The ambience is top notch and the service is also just as good. The food is executed well but the menu has nothing out of the ordinary. You really come here for the ambience and it's easy access to Guincho beach. Be sure to take an after meal walk by the cliffs nearby for some awesome views! Great seafood options!

This place gets 3 stars because: I called twice to book a table — no answer. Luckily, there were still spots available at 4:00 PM. The entrance from the beach is only obvious if you speak Portuguese — there’s a sign I didn’t understand. Oysters and the kids’ burger were the best things we had. The sea bass was well prepared, which was nice — but the vegetables looked awful, totally oversteamed. The onion wasn’t cleaned properly and was impossible to eat. Tabasco seemed watered down. No pepper on the table. I don’t agree with some reviews about the service — the waiters were doing their job just fine. But if you came to Portugal for a tasty food experience, this place isn’t it. It might save you from starving, but it’s overpriced (in my opinion) for very average quality — with amazing views of the ocean.

Great beach bar. Really well positioned with lovely view of the beach. Very clean modern facilities. Super efficient ordering via QR code. Decent menu with a range of food and drink options. Everything came really well cooked. Definitely recommend if you need a lunch spot for your day at the beach

A small child at the table next to us made a mess all over the floor and his parents left without doing anything. update:2025/06 The interior of the restaurant has been changed and modernized. The restrooms are clean but there is no place to lock the door and you must always keep one hand on the doorknob or take off your shoes and place them under the door or it will be opened by other guests. The clams and ceviche were good, but The sea bass was not good. The grilled vegetables with the garnish were so poorly seasoned that I wondered if I should return it, but I didn't want to be kept waiting and started eating. The waiter's service was good, but I doubt the skill of the cook in charge. It took two waiters to clean it up . They wiped it up with a mop.

We’ve been here many times and the food is always good and the vibe is amazing. They might have changed owners, the service isn’t the same as it has been the last 3-4 years. It has always been the same happy helpful och alert guys throughout the years, that sees everything and are quick to give you service. This time it was something else. Not as responsive and didn’t take away the dishes when you’re done after you’ve been sitting with empty plates for more than 10-15 minutes. When you raise your hand, they stop, they just look at you. Not saying anything nor approaching you. Just standing there looking at you and don’t say a word. This time, the place was about half full and they hade 4 servers working plus all the staff in the kitchen and behind the bar. Service is everything!! I’m still going back, because the vibe is great and the food is good.

The ambiance was very nice. The service is hard to evaluate, as orders are placed online and the food is simply brought to the table. The food usually arrives cold, and the steaks seem to be cooked in the same pans as fish; at least that's the impression I got, since the waiter didn’t seem surprised at all when I mentioned that my steak tasted like fish. This is simply unacceptable, especially considering the steaks cost €30.

Very good restaurant. Specially if you like seafood. There are more options as well. And there are vegetarian options. Prices are reasonable. Service is quite fast. And you gave a great view of the beach. Plenty of car parking spaces. I guess in summer it get really busy.

First of all, the current picture on this listing is not Bar do Guincho, it is the much more rustic spot down on the sand by the beach rentals. We absolutely loved this place. We were staying in a beautiful Airbnb just up the hill northwest a mile. We could see Guincho, but Bar do Guincho is tucked up just off the beach with a big beautiful open deck with glass railings. Other outdoor sections are more protected from the frequent wind, and then there is a great room indoors with a big fireplace for the off season. Service was awesome. Each table had a unique QR code on a caddy that allowed you to not just see the menu but order at your own pace and also pay at the end. They also offer regular table service for curmudgeons and luddites. (just joking!) We ordered the delicious passion fruit sangria and it arrived in 5 minutes. All of our food was excellent, particulary the Portuguese fried shrimp (sauteed to Americans!) and the ceviche. The fries and bread were also delicious. You will not find a more beautiful view or a better vibe. We never go back to the same place during a short visit but we hit Bar do Guincho twice in three days. Can't wait to return next visit!

I have been going to this place for over 10 years. Prices have tripled and quality has plummeted. Elevator music playing in the background. Just go to the amazing beach and skip the bar!

Death of a legend... the Guincho burger used to be an undisputed champion of burgers and now I'm afraid that it has lost its way. Very disappointing but still a fantastic view and overall atmosphere. On the Plus side the Octopus was rather tasty. Will give the burger another chance in the hopes of redemption.

The location is amazing!! That right there gives it 5 stars! And surprisingly the food was good too. You never know when a place has a beach vibe and a great view. It can be all about the view and the food can be lackluster. This place did not disappoint. We ordered grilled cheese, vegetarian salad, veggie burgers, fries and drinks. The entire table was satisfied. It is choose your own seating and then you get in line to order food. You bring it to your table also. The view is this amazing little beach surrounded by jagged cliffs. We went at sunset. The landscape is full of colorful windsurfers. It was one of the best moments of my life! We attended with a baby and two toddlers. They had high chairs. Great place.

Went to Bar do Guincho after a day of surfing. Pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of food. Amazing views of the beach.

Since last time I rated this place 4 stars but I really wanted to do 4.5, this time around Im giving it a 5. Service was good and the establishment is awesome.

In April of 2017, my wife and I stumbled across this wonderful restaurant in Guincho, tucked away in a cove overlooking the surfer's beach. We had a delightful and simple meal - panini sandwiches with a bottle of crisp white wine - while seated by the railing overlooking the beach. You order at the counter then pick up your meal when ready - easy and fast. The view is superb and the people-watching fantastic. More importantly, after our meal, while walking on the beach far from the restaurant, my wife cut her foot fairly badly on a stone buried in the sand. We returned to the restaurant and they provided wonderful assistance - helping us to clean out the injury and get it bandaged up. They were incredibly helpful and calming and turned what could have been a bad situation into what we look back upon as a wonderful day. From the great food and wine to the views to the great assistance in an emergency situation, I cannot recommend Bar do Guincho highly enough.

Lovely beach bar - food basic but good and chilled place to watch the waves come in. Don't go for the gourmet food (it isn't). Do come for people watching and beers in a beuatiful setting

This is the beach water whole at Guincho beach. It's great and you get a great gin or sangria, but the food menu offers very little for someone that is not keen on burgers and other type of junk food. But it's a nice place.
