Bar do Guincho

A hidden gem that comes with an excellent sunset view. The ambience is top notch and the service is also just as good. The food is executed well but the menu has nothing out of the ordinary. You really come here for the ambience and it's easy access to Guincho beach. Be sure to take an after meal walk by the cliffs nearby for some awesome views! Great seafood options!

This place gets 3 stars because: I called twice to book a table — no answer. Luckily, there were still spots available at 4:00 PM. The entrance from the beach is only obvious if you speak Portuguese — there’s a sign I didn’t understand. Oysters and the kids’ burger were the best things we had. The sea bass was well prepared, which was nice — but the vegetables looked awful, totally oversteamed. The onion wasn’t cleaned properly and was impossible to eat. Tabasco seemed watered down. No pepper on the table. I don’t agree with some reviews about the service — the waiters were doing their job just fine. But if you came to Portugal for a tasty food experience, this place isn’t it. It might save you from starving, but it’s overpriced (in my opinion) for very average quality — with amazing views of the ocean.

Spectacularly average food. I mean - it’s beach bar fayre which is fair enough, but it is so over priced for what it is. €17.50 for the most sorry looking chicken burger I’ve ever seen with potato wedges that taste like … they’ve been in the freezer for a decade. €18.50 for a cheese burger that is similarly sad looking. There is no passion in the food at all, it’s just shovelled out without any thought at all in the knowledge that this is the only place to eat at such an incredible location. The service staff are delightful though. I fear they’re on minimum wage and at these prices they’re not going to attract many tips. More passion. More energy!

The view is great, but spare yourself some cash and don't order food, it is mediocre at best. It's not worth the price, it's really not like on the pictures. Do not come for food, repeat, DO NOT order any food. The only reasonable idea would be to come get a drink and enjoy the view.

Very good restaurant. Specially if you like seafood. There are more options as well. And there are vegetarian options. Prices are reasonable. Service is quite fast. And you gave a great view of the beach. Plenty of car parking spaces. I guess in summer it get really busy.

Been here this evening. Very welcoming staff. So pleased that our dog was also welcome. We were advised where to sit (out of the wind, which was whipping up sand) and we were glad that we followed the recommendation. Ordered online using a QR code and paid with card at the table when food and drinks were delivered. We were both very happy with our meals (tuna steak and ham/goats cheese salad). Staff were lovely. Views to die for. Parking cost €4. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Loved it.

First of all, the current picture on this listing is not Bar do Guincho, it is the much more rustic spot down on the sand by the beach rentals. We absolutely loved this place. We were staying in a beautiful Airbnb just up the hill northwest a mile. We could see Guincho, but Bar do Guincho is tucked up just off the beach with a big beautiful open deck with glass railings. Other outdoor sections are more protected from the frequent wind, and then there is a great room indoors with a big fireplace for the off season. Service was awesome. Each table had a unique QR code on a caddy that allowed you to not just see the menu but order at your own pace and also pay at the end. They also offer regular table service for curmudgeons and luddites. (just joking!) We ordered the delicious passion fruit sangria and it arrived in 5 minutes. All of our food was excellent, particulary the Portuguese fried shrimp (sauteed to Americans!) and the ceviche. The fries and bread were also delicious. You will not find a more beautiful view or a better vibe. We never go back to the same place during a short visit but we hit Bar do Guincho twice in three days. Can't wait to return next visit!

I have been going to this place for over 10 years. Prices have tripled and quality has plummeted. Elevator music playing in the background. Just go to the amazing beach and skip the bar!

Death of a legend... the Guincho burger used to be an undisputed champion of burgers and now I'm afraid that it has lost its way. Very disappointing but still a fantastic view and overall atmosphere. On the Plus side the Octopus was rather tasty. Will give the burger another chance in the hopes of redemption.

The location is amazing!! That right there gives it 5 stars! And surprisingly the food was good too. You never know when a place has a beach vibe and a great view. It can be all about the view and the food can be lackluster. This place did not disappoint. We ordered grilled cheese, vegetarian salad, veggie burgers, fries and drinks. The entire table was satisfied. It is choose your own seating and then you get in line to order food. You bring it to your table also. The view is this amazing little beach surrounded by jagged cliffs. We went at sunset. The landscape is full of colorful windsurfers. It was one of the best moments of my life! We attended with a baby and two toddlers. They had high chairs. Great place.

Went to Bar do Guincho after a day of surfing. Pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of food. Amazing views of the beach.

Since last time I rated this place 4 stars but I really wanted to do 4.5, this time around Im giving it a 5. Service was good and the establishment is awesome.

In April of 2017, my wife and I stumbled across this wonderful restaurant in Guincho, tucked away in a cove overlooking the surfer's beach. We had a delightful and simple meal - panini sandwiches with a bottle of crisp white wine - while seated by the railing overlooking the beach. You order at the counter then pick up your meal when ready - easy and fast. The view is superb and the people-watching fantastic. More importantly, after our meal, while walking on the beach far from the restaurant, my wife cut her foot fairly badly on a stone buried in the sand. We returned to the restaurant and they provided wonderful assistance - helping us to clean out the injury and get it bandaged up. They were incredibly helpful and calming and turned what could have been a bad situation into what we look back upon as a wonderful day. From the great food and wine to the views to the great assistance in an emergency situation, I cannot recommend Bar do Guincho highly enough.

Lovely beach bar - food basic but good and chilled place to watch the waves come in. Don't go for the gourmet food (it isn't). Do come for people watching and beers in a beuatiful setting

This is the beach water whole at Guincho beach. It's great and you get a great gin or sangria, but the food menu offers very little for someone that is not keen on burgers and other type of junk food. But it's a nice place.
