Reading about an event with Comuna and Bar do Momo some months, in which sadly I wasn't able to attend, I put Bar do Momo on my to-eat list. On a trip back to Rio, I was lucky enough to be in Tijuca and remembered Bar do Momo. Excited and hungry, I made way to the bar and knowing what I wanted straight away I order the burger without looking the menu. Waiting while sipping on a cold bar, I watched as the kitchen prepared hundreds of bolinhos de bacalhau. A fairly small boteco in size it is quite lively with people drinking at the bar and on the street. My burger came out soon after, and it looked pretty decent in size with cheese and sauteed red onions. I picked up the burger to feel a cold bun and took one large bite into an overly chargrilled burger and cold onions. I was a little disappointed by the 'freshness' of the burger. The meat was overcooked and crispy on the outside, tasting a little burnt and raw on the inside. The onions were all prepared cooked and kept in the fridge and put on top of the burger when ready rather than cooking to order. The burger wasn't exactly what I was expecting, and if I was in the neighborhood again, I think I will be ordering the bacalhau.
