I expected a little more ambiance since the place is so old and storied... supposedly intellectuals and revolutionaries met here once upon a time, but you wouldn't necessarily know it.
The space is nice, open and airy with a classic looking bar and a well dressed waiter running from table to table. The menu is extensive, but also really quite expensive for what it is - appetizers around €11, main dishes around €25, some tapas between €7-10, as well as a list of more casual sandwiches. I went with a club sandwich which was toasty and tasty but just note QUITE worth €6.80 - considering the sparse amount of filling in the sandwich and no accompaniments. The other, smaller sandwich, which my boyfriend got, comes at a slightly lower €4. This seems like a deal until you see that it's a finger sandwich, literally about half the size of my palm, on soft white bread, not unlike a tea sandwich (in the idea of British high tea) but an oblong rectangle rather than a mini wedge. If you're not too hungry and don't mind paying more than normal, come here! Otherwise I think there are other places to be had.
