Old Montreal Restaurants React to Anti-Curfew Riot | Eater Montreal

"In an Instagram post after the unrest, the restaurant on de la Commune said its windows were smashed and published a translated message acknowledging frustration over the curfew but condemning violence against already‑suffering businesses: it noted understanding of the anger but said, 'We share your anger. But it’s the arguments behind that anger that should be in the news this morning, not your acts of violence,' and called for solidarity and resilience." - Valerie Silva

All-Tartare Chain Küto Opens in Griffintown, Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Across from the Old Port on de la Commune I came across a new Mexican restaurant taking a mostly classic approach, featuring tuna tostadas and chilaquiles and focusing on tacos—choices include al pastor, pulled-pork-like cochinita pibil, chorizo, lengua, and nopales—plus cocktails to accompany the menu." - Tim Forster

Food was decent. It’s in a very touristy part of Montreal (Old Port) so parking is very challenging. Tacos were tasty and I had the spicy margarita which was also yummy. One of our tacos had a crispy tortilla which was hard to eat. But overall the fillings were good. Service could be better. It wasn’t that busy but because we were sat in the basement, our server forgot about us.

La Catrina in Old Montreal serves lively, authentic Mexican cuisine with generous portions and bright flavors. We were a party of eight and every dish impressed someone at the table, from the smoky salsas to the perfectly seasoned tacos. Friendly service, a warm atmosphere, and steady pacing between courses made it a great spot for a relaxed group meal.

Ordered the vegetarian quesadilla with huitlacoche. On the menu, it was listed as a starter, and I thought I'd have to order more food to complete my lunch. But it was such a generous portion, I could not eat any more. And it was delicious! The server was very courteous, too. Would love to come back on my next trip to Montreal

Had late lunch today and incidentally, it was taco tuesday!!!! The food was excellent. Had 4 pairs of fish, chicken, beef, and vegetarian tacos and everything was delicious. Personal favorite was the beef. The margaritas were excellent. The churros were bomb. Service was also top notch. Everyone’s so friendly. Highly recommended.

Honestly a great experience, until we were disappointed at the very end by the rude way our waitress told us abruptly: “by the way i don’t know if it was mentioned when you entered, but for groups of 8 or more, it’s 18% tips minimum. That’s the policy in the restaurant and it was written in the menu”. The way you read it is definitely less harsh than how she said it… Which is a bummer because we had a great time, were in the lounge downstairs, and as you see in the pictures the food looks delicious, all the plates tasted great as well. Nice atmosphere, with not-so-loud-but-lively music. Too bad we left too stunned to speak after the very uncomfortable and rude moment.

Loved this place! The vibe was beautiful, and I’d definitely recommend the vegetarian tacos - they were actually really good (though I’d seen some mixed reviews, for me they were not dry at all) Very enjoyable dish! Service was quick, and everyone there was super kind. My sister was a big fan of her beef tacos too. Plus, the portions were solid for the price. All around, a great spot! Ps. They brought water to the table almost immediately:)

Our servers were lovely. And the atmosphere is beautiful in Old Montreal. The food was absolutely horrendous. The chicken was so dry that I could barely eat it, and they told me that it's because there was no sauce on it. If you have to put sauce on your chicken to make it not dry you're doing it wrong. The nachos and salsa were completely tasteless. We added tons of salt and pepper to the salsa and it made no difference. Our servers though we're really great very sweet and took care of us well. Atmosphere and servers absolutely a five. it's too bad about the chef

Yannick, our server was absolutely amazing. He explained the menu and guided us through a wonderful meal. He was attentive and hardworking taking care of the entire restaurant with no other help from front of house staff like a stud. The Al pastor and Baja fish tacos were amazing. We were here on a Wednesday for lunch. A must try!
