Why Portland’s Food World Loves David Lynch | Eater Portland

"Almost European in its compactness, this Lynch-themed lounge occupies one of the attached storefronts built into the first level of the historic 1926 Hollywood Theater, set up for a pre-show beer and small events. A short bar anchors a side room with a couple of film-reel cafe tables and some window seating, while high red walls carry enormous Blue Velvet and Fire Walk With Me posters and a cozy blue-velvet photo nook. The Lynch motif wasn’t a posthumous pivot—the theater regularly hosts sold-out Lynch retrospectives, and plans to honor him were already in motion." - Ben Coleman

SO underwhelming. very bare and looks like they just moved in last week. this place has SUCH potential for a cool atmosphere (more TVs, movie-themed drinks, memorabilia?) but right now they just offer the same bottled/canned drinks you can get at the hollywood theater (no open alcohol). disappointed but hopeful they’ll find their footing in time ♥️

The lighting is really cool, other than that I’m disappointed by the lack of decor and pizzazz. The space has so much potential, it’s just not utilized well. The drinks are the same beers, wine, etc. that you’ll find in the Hollywood theater. I’m hoping they spice things up a bit soon.

Underwhelming when it comes to atmosphere. A few cool posters literally. The place could use some televisions hanging over the tables with continuous David Lynch films on. Or maybe even just film noir. Maybe put something on the walls. Paint the floor.

Great casual hangout for Lynch fans! Could use a bigger bar and a few televisions hanging on the walls, but the staff is very nice and the atmosphere is great.

Yelp
I've been a Hollywood Theater member for a long time. I meet friends a lot for a movie super casual. Many of us sit in our own spots we prefer. We've found ourselves, many times, standing around awkwardly catching up or talking about what we just saw. Last night I brought one friend to Kung Fu Theater at Hollywood Theater and a couple of friends from Scappoose came to meet up with us. After the movie it was so perfect to drop in, grab this tucked sitting area for the four of us and have a drink. I loved the casual nature of this spot. As a huge David Lynch fan, they did not ask for my opinion but I certainly approve of the theme. They have cherry pie.... perfect... I had a lovely, well poured glass of rose, Next time I will have to grab some pie.

Yelp
After much hush hush and mystery, the secret has been revealed: welcome to Bar Hollywood! The decor and layout pays homage to the great David Lynch whom recently passed away. As part of the Hollywood Theater family, this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It can be a great place to pre game before or after the movie. The best time is when it is dark out and the neon lights come alive. After getting a drink, to have complimentary kettle chips and peanuts is an added bonus. They are simply satisfying and go well with the beverage of choice. Service is super friendly and quick as well. For now they are open everyday except for Monday 6-10 PM. I am excited to have more options in the neighborhood for meet up's and such - cheers!

Yelp
Finally got to pop into Bar Hollywood, what a fun place! I love the decor and the vibe. It is David Lynch themed, with film reel tables, posters and even some blue velvet chairs to sit in. They have a small drink menu and I enjoyed my San Juan huckleberry hard seltzer. A cool feature is the screen showing the movie times for the Hollywood and it even has a countdown until your movie starts. No food menu, but they serve a few snacks. It is nice to have a place to go to before and after a movie!

Yelp
Damn Fine Coffee. Underwhelming compared to my expectations, yet the intense blue and red lighting was mesmerizing. Nice they used old film reels for the tables. Service was fine. Eclectic place. I think David would approve.

Yelp
Limited draft options but great quality for what is offered. Chill vibes, great option for before or after a movie at the Theater next door!

Yelp
It's not a bar.. no cocktails .. it's a tavern. Won't come until it becomes a real bar
