"Head over to breezy Bar Ivy in Arlington’s Clarendon neighborhood to try a gorgeous dessert that landed on the menu this spring. "Miso butter makes a prominent appearance at Clarendon’s West Coast-chic newcomer. "The team behind D.C. hotspots Tiger Fork, Hi-Lawn, and Calico brings chic West Coast vibes to Arlington with the anticipated arrival of Bar Ivy. Two years in the making, Blagden Hospitality Group’s new modern American endeavor opens Friday, June 10, in the center of Clarendon. Very beautiful location. Parking was so close...right behind the restaurant. The food was flavorful and fresh. We ate outside and it was very enjoyable. The atmosphere is so nice. It gave vacation vibes while in Arlington. I would recommend. Wine was really good too. Staff was prompt and friendly.

Went for restaurant week and had a very good dinner. Service was attentive and helpful. Very creative drink menu and fun selection of appetizers and entrees. Dessert provided a nice end of the meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. Buzzy atmosphere without being too loud.

This is an incredibly beautiful place. As a former Los Angeleno I felt this restaurant gave GLOWING LA vibes. As someone who has several dietary restrictions the restaurant accommodated me for gluten free and other restrictions. The crab artichoke dip is very good, so are the fries, and the salad! Cocktails are perfect! Get there for happy hour. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful with outdoor and indoor seating. Off the train line so easily accessible. Additionally the staff are very nice and hospitable. Will be back! Place is dog friendly as well.

Google
Great patio space with plenty of well-spaced tables and shade - there’s no other outdoor seating this nice in Clarendon. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and enthusiastic about their restaurant. Drink menu had plenty of choices - even some draft beer options that I rarely see in the area. The food was good and very artfully presented. We will definitely come back.

I normally never venture out to Clarendon, but the Apple store in Clarendon was the only one with available appointments any time soon, so off to Arlington I went!I invited my sister to meet me and we had a wonderful time. Bar Ivy had been recommended to me by a friend and I'd seen it in Washingtonian and wanted to check it out and I'm really glad I stopped by for a bite! It's a really beautiful open space with a lot of natural light and greenery. The patio is right off the sidewalk, and the restaurant itself flows directly from from the patio so it becomes sort of one space. I sat at the bar to wait for my sister, and we both eventually sat there, it was so fun and not loud at all. I tried a couple of cocktails and the bread to start. The house made bread was delicious, a warm and toasted sourdough. It comes with a miso honey butter and a salted butter and local pickled veggies the chef team made last year in preparation for the opening of Bar Ivy. Service was extremely attentive, Michael the bartender was very kind and knowledgeable, and Luis, who was also on the bar checked on us if Michael was ever indisposed. Our favorite cocktails were one of their sessions, 'can you hear the drums fernando' with Amaro and Chinotto soda, and the 'Tiki Clandestino,' a mezcal banana coconut drink that was really fun but strong! The absolute star of their small plates were the clams, I'm not that experienced in eating clams- I would have gotten them confused with mussels if I hadn't read the menu, but these were so good, garlicky and brothy and not chewy at all. I went home thinking about this dish. My sister really loved the spiceberry octopus, it was absolutely perfectly cooked. I'm always nervous about ordering octopus because it's so often kind of rubbery or undersea so Ed for my taste, but it was fantastic, and again really delicious. I think Bar Ivy really stands out in their seafood and cocktails (particularly their sessions which are considerate for the light drinker). I know they're supposed to be a west coast vibe, but I felt it fit in perfectly in the DC area and I'll definitely be back and be bringing friends.

The food, service, and hospitality was amazing! Favorite dishes of the night were the lamb and octopus. Perfectly cooked and good portion sizes. Shout out to our servers Mike and John for making the experience perfect!

Google
Honestly shocked by the bad reviews! This place is amazing. The service was incredible. Not too pushy but very attentive. The bar tender told us a very interesting story about piquette. We got the crab Rangoon’s and they were so good I’ll be dreaming about them later! Such a great experience. SIT AT THE BAR

Google
Great place for cocktails. Not so much as a wine bar. Limited menu, so it's really for the drinks and to be social. Excellent location, has outdoor seating and pretty much in the middle of everything.

Yelp
Bar Ivy has a cute outdoor patio that is really spacious! I came on a Friday at 5pm in time for their happy hour and was easily able to get a seat outside. We ordered the Ace pumpkin ale (from the fall menu) and the Sangria. The pumpkin ale was really good, the sangria was as well though it was a tad sweeter than what I would've liked. We split the mussels and fries which came in a type of curry sauce that I really enjoyed. I personally would have preferred them to put the fries on the side as it got soggy as they fell into the sauce. The service here was on the slower side especially considering that there were not that many people in the restaurant. All in all, I thought the food and drinks were pretty tasty though was honestly kinda pricey even considering that we ordered from their happy hour menu. Also FYI, we were only able to order from their happy hour menu when we came at 5pm.

Will M.

Yelp
Interesting layout with mostly outdoor seating and the indoor seating being half open. Fancy cocktail with earthy flavors. Very limited entree menu so not for the picky eater.

Yelp
So sad this place is good I had some great food and drinks here! Just wanted to share

Janelle J.

Yelp
Loved this place! Went for Sunday happy hour when the weather was perfect. It's a great place to have an outdoor drink and they have happy hour until 530. The bartender and staff were really nice (we chatted while watching March madness). The fries were crispy and hot. Cant wait to spend more time here when the weather is nice.

Charmaine C.

Yelp
Came here early and stayed for 3 hours hanging out with friends. Darien makes great cocktails! Great music tonight

Esther A.

Yelp
This place was new when I tried it and I enjoyed it very much with my friend. It's a 3 because it wasn't that novel of a cocktail bar. They actually didn't have as big of a selection as the other reviews try to make it seem. The staff was incredible though ! Very nice people and knowledgeable of the selection that they did have.

Yelp
It's the 18th day of its soft opening. Great outdoor space. Food has amazing flavors and creative presentations. Cocktail menu can be expanded a little (only 3 items as of now). Service was good even when it's super busy. Would like to go back to try out their brunch.

Yelp
I have been excited to try Bar Ivy for months, but unfortunately it wasn't very impressive. Overall the food was decent, but mediocre. Definitely cute decor inside the restaurant and a creative menu, but it just fell flat for me. The bread would have been better if it was warm, but maybe that is something that could be asked for when ordering. The miso butter and house pickles that came with the bread were both very good, and probably my favorite parts of the dinner. The mushroom toast was pretty salty, but I did enjoy the mushrooms themselves. The croquettes weren't quite what I expected. Essentially, they are fried balls of mashed potatoes and fish, so just know that when ordering. The sauce they came in was good and flavorful. Overall, I am glad I tried it since it was on my list of new places to try, but I do not see myself going back.

Yelp
Came here for a late night snack. The inside was very very loud and noisy with the music blasting and it was a nice summer day so I figured we could sit outside. Unfortunately they also decided to blast the music on the outside too. Which is a bit of a different vibe of what the place is giving as a more casual lounge sit down area. I think they should get away from that if they want to retain business. I also don't understand how they took up a lot of the sidewalk with their outdoor seating arrangements. The service was okay they were repeatedly asking us to close out the bill and it wasn't even 10:00. I ended up getting a dessert mousse that they call a chocolate pot but it was just okay. Oh well I'm glad I tried the area but I don't think I'll be back

Gene C.

Yelp
The drinks are really good. Beautiful place. Wait staff are attentive. Decorations are earthy. Like a garden

Yelp
We decided to come here for brunch as they just rolled out that menu earlier this month. We sat at the bar but on a warm day I would love to sit at their great outdoor patio. The staff was the best part, they were all very accommodating and kind. We started with the bread service - we loved the apple butter and miso butter but the bread well...it was just basic Hawaiian rolls. I personally prefer the King Hawaiian rolls taste wise but the butter did help. The star of the show here were the cocktails- the espresso martini was really strong and tasty, and so was the old fashion. For our meals I went with the croque madam and my boyfriend got the apple farro pancakes. I will say you get a HUGE portion for your money! The apple pancakes were great and I did like my croque madam. However I will say that the croque was half dry and the bread used was pretty bleh. I expected it to be way cheesier and instead the sauce and egg were in the middle and the rest felt very dry. I loved their house made hot sauce though, that on top was great. Their homefries were magical, I would come to eat just them. Overall a good spot- hope to try more items in the future.

Yelp
If you haven't heard already Bar Ivy is the new kid on Arlington's block! Great place for drinks but if you're looking for larger portion dishes there are a few but it's more of a tapas restaurant . Still a vibe though!! * Head of Prawns with Shishito, leeks, romesco * Toast w/ a mushroom cream and tartufata. It was SOOO good that I would have ordered two of them! * Black Bass laid over a bed cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, chanterelle & apricot beurre blanc

Lukas S.

Yelp
Well, the second time we came in, it was a cluster cuss. I've never been to a NEW place and felt like I was a burden to literally all (front desk all the way to the table) of the staff. This threw the ambiance off completely. No food was even tried this time - because the staff didn't want to give us menus. We asked and were told "well....I guess if you want to order something, you can." I said, "never mind. That's alright!" *eyeroll*

Yelp
Hot and new biz in Clarendon by the same folks behind the Blagden Alley hotspots: Tiger Fork, Calico, etc. With that lens, you should know to expect: Good vibes Skillful drinks Excellent decor To drop $$ Bar Ivy brings a warm and welcoming front to what would otherwise be a drab corner area of office buildings. Large outdoor patio, so plan to take advantage during the summer. Their indoor space is potentially even more gorgeous though, with the same hues of green and nature evident throughout. I want to bring this furniture home - that's how much I loved the decor. As for the stuff that might matter most to Yelpers - food and drink - there is opportunity for growth (and maybe that's in the works?). One column of the menu is for house cocktails, far too little as far as I'm concerned. A handful of food options that neither sounded enough for dinner or were too costly for happy hour bites. Visited around 5pm and wasn't aware of any happy hour pricing so they must not do that here. Croquettes were bomb though. Severs friendly and checked up on us often, so I really appreciated that!

Carly C.

Yelp
I'm torn on this review. I think bar ivy is supposed to be an elevated happy hour experience, although the food and drinks were very tasty i found the menu a bit expensive. I ordered the tuna poke and scallops and thought both were incredible. Would be a great spot to stop if you aren't too hungry or just getting a small bite. I went for dinner and we ended up going somewhere after. I'm excited to try their coffee in the outdoor area.

Aparna N.

Yelp
Bar Ivy has by far one of the best set ups in the area. On a nice day, the vibes are truly immaculate with the large outdoor patio and the fun boho retro decor inside. I LOVE that the side windows completely open up so the whole space is indoor/outdoor. The drinks are solid. The purpletini and espresso martini are favorites of me and my friends. I've had some not so good drinks but due to my taste rather than the drinks themselves. The food is ok, and in my opinion a bit on the expensive side for what it is. I don't think the mushroom toast is currently on the menu, but it's a favorite of mine and would definitely recommend getting it if it comes back! I've never had any major issues with the service but it's been slow at times. All in all I'd consider this more of a drinks and a fancy snack kind of place. If you want to lounge around outside on a nice day with a good cocktail, check out this spot!

Tamara T.

Yelp
Amazing aesthetic and open layout. Perfect for sitting outside and you still get that outdoor seating feel if you choose to sit inside. Unique drink menu and flavorful foods. Food is a little pricey and not as filling. Seems more like tapas style. great place for locals and for bringing friends/family who are visiting!

Jenny O.

Yelp
I came on a warm sunny Friday evening and had a delightful time. The open concept was quite inviting and I liked the ambiance of West Coast inspired with saturated bright colors throughout the restaurant. The menu was a short one-pager, which I took as the chefs being proud and confident in each dish. We split the mushroom toast and sockeye crudo. I loved the umami in the mushroom toast and that the bread itself was a hearty baguette to soak up all the jus but not get soggy. The crudo was a refreshing summer dish. For the main, I got the snapper. The fish itself was moist and well cooked and I liked the vegetable (leek?) that accompanied it, which was earthy and slightly herby. I wished the snapper skin could have been much crispier for a textural contrast to the dish, but generally yummy. I recommend trying their tiki drink with the mezcal, which was very well balanced. They also have a few unconventional whites (as I haven't seen them on many other wine lists), which I thought were refreshing! For a soft opening, the place was packed and lively and not that many hiccups! The staff was also inviting and warm.

Yelp
3RD UPDATE: Visited tonight (Friday, 01/27/2023) and sat inside. The menu was a huge improvement in my opinion. I'm a very picky eater and my boyfriend has a seafood allergy so previously, we typically only came here for drinks. However the menu has been updated and they have now added a burger, fucking awesome fries (seriously)...which I was told would remain on the menu. They have also added seasonally or temporarily a Wagyu Pot Roast and Cacio e Pepe. Service from Jake and Greg were excellent as well as our bartender.

Natasha H.

Yelp
Amazing meal, ambience, and service at Bar Ivy the other night. Clarendon really needed a concept like this. We had the mushroom toast, prawns, crab Louis, pappardelle, and the lamb. Everything was very good, but the prawns and the lamb were incredible. I keep thinking about the lamb dish and I can't wait to come back. We also had the clandestino and the purpletini, which we really enjoyed. One of the managers, Greg, was so very kind and hospitable. He really made our night.

Anh N.

Yelp
Clarendon's food scene just got better with this West coast inspired restaurant! I'm all about it. We had a few cocktails- flavors were tasty but a bit light on the alcohol. Tasted a bit like a mocktail, so we had to order some stiffer drinks off the menu- like a tequila shot lol. The croquettes were delicious and the menu looked great with a good number of vegetarian friendly dishes. I definitely would come back. I would make reservations too if you want to dine outside in the garden patio.

Olivia D.

Yelp
Bar Ivy is a cute spot in the heart of Arlington. The wait staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. My friend and I had a glass of wine, split the bread, croquettes, and rigatoni and it was the perfect girl dinner. So reasonably priced and so tasty!

Nikki K.

Yelp
Seems like they were trying to get the whole west coast vibe down but couldn't quite execute it. I'm hoping it improves, but service and the food aren't amazing either

Abigail M.

Yelp
Really impressed with Bar Ivy! Great new spot in Clarendon with a chic but relaxed atmosphere. The cocktails were all unique and delicious. We only tried the bread with cultured butter when we went but it was amazing - I can't wait to return and try more food from them. The only drawback was the service. If you sit anywhere near the bar, you won't get a waiter and it's really challenging to get served at the bar. This part was a bit chaotic.

Zachary K.

Yelp
We came for a couple of cocktails before dinner and Bar Ivy did not disappoint. Excellent selection of cocktails across spirit types. A bit pricey but staff was friendly and open air interior was enjoyable.

Katherine H.

Yelp
Not worth it. In this economy, if I am spending $15 on a cocktail and $20 on an appetizer, I expect the food and service to be outstanding. Our server was extremely unprofessional and the food was mediocre. Will not be returning to Bar Ivy.

Emily E.

Yelp
4.5/5 Had a a great time here last night with a large party. They did an amazing job hosting us! There were 15 or so of us and they did a 3 course tasting meal of pretty much the whole menu served family style. They printed out a special menu for us, too. Nice touch! The service was great even for a large party. The managers(?) we're assisting the servers and making sure our experience was great, which I definitely noticed and was thankful for. The food was great considering how complicated it was serving all of us! Hot, flavorful, well cooked! I tried every dish and really enjoyed them all. No bad options. We will definitely remember this place for larger gatherings and just nice nights out. The weather was perfect last night and the patio is huge and special. Thanks for the lovely evening, Bar Ivy.

Julie R.

Yelp
It is a nice space and good ambiance. Service was good. Went for drinks. The white sangria is very sweet and floral. Too sweet. The water tastes funny. Not like regular lemon water, something was off. The Manhattan was good. The food we didn't try because it looked lackluster but perhaps it's very good.

Bill B.

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner at Bar Ivy with a few couple exceptions: 1. Since it was raining, we had to eat inside which was loud and difficult to hear others in our party. Outside, on a nice evening, this would be a great venue. 2. Though small, the menu had several "small" plate options and a few full dinner options. Although several of the small plates were exceptional (octopus, artichoke dip, and bread), the "strawberries" were a joke: we got about a HANDFUL OF VERY TINY strawberries and lots of greens for $15!

Andrew N.

Yelp
Great vibe and authentic seasonal menu - highly recommend for relaxed brunch on the weekend - great service and convenient location in Clarendon

Zeynep U.

Yelp
After having read great reviews about this place, we decided to try it out on a Thursday evening. The weather was nice so we booked a table outside. First of all, noone came by for at least 10 minutes or even acknowledged that we are seated. Granted, they were quite busy and looked understaffed. Finally, someone came by and apologized for the delay. later on we got an appetizer plate on the house to make up for the delay, which was nice. When it comes to food, it is at best medicore. I ordered the scallops. For $33 plate, there were 3 (THREE) scallops on my plate - $11/a piece!! they were swimming in some sort of green puddle and was definitely not worth the price. My husband's salmon was nothing special. My son ordered the burger, which came with frozen fries. For a $19 burger, I would have at least expected some hand cut fries. All in all, it was an expensive outing, with food that did not live up to the price. Given there are so many better alternatives in Clarendon corridor, I would not come here again.. Too bad as they have a really nice outside seating (hence the 1 star for location!)

Lisa N.

Yelp
Awesome food, service and hospitality! My favorite dishes of the meal were the lamb and octopus. Both had solid portions and were very tasty. Mike and John really made the experience wonderful and I will be back!

Camille L.

Yelp
Went here for a bday brunch and it had a really cute ambiance inside. Coffee and food was good, and our server was great at checking in and making sure we were having a good time.

Jill S.

Yelp
Maybe it was a mistake coming here for brunch instead of lunch or dinner, but it just wasn't good. The only thing I really liked was the decor. They created a lovely, airy space filled with lots of light, plants, and decorated in green, pink, and gold. Our group of 4 plus a toddler were the only people there besides two people at the bar, so it was very quiet and relaxing, and we did not feel rushed, which was nice. The server came by frequently and was helpful. We started with drinks. My mimosa tasted and looked like straight fruit juice, and thankfully they were willing to remake it when I pointed this out. I asked if i could order a side of fruit for my toddler since I noticed they had a fruit parfait on the menu, but they said that wasn't possible. Instead, I ordered a single pancake for him, which was served plain without butter but with two servings of syrup on the side and ended up costing $7. My omelette was more of a scramble, and was over-cooked hard, but folded around unmelted shredded Swiss cheese, and served room temperature. The salad on the side was a huge portion of mixed greens in oil, lemon, and an overwhelming amount of salt. My husband got the patty melt, served as two sliders on large slices of pumpernickel that were too big for the tiny onion topped patty, with the same salty mixed greens salad. The most disappointing item we ordered was the crab cake, which was unlike any crab cake I have ever seen. This flattened/formed patty was covered in breadcrumbs, fried to a dark brown crisp, and looked and tasted more like a minced fish or shrimp cake with lots of filler. One thing that was very nice but also kind of odd is that right when our food first came out, they brought us complimentary side dishes (lamb sausage, home fries, and multigrain bread), as a thank you to my mother in law, who had been there earlier the same week. The server said it was a thank you to her for coming back. According to everyone at the table who tried these: the lamb sausage was so bad that it was not edible, the home fries were very bland/unseasoned aside from salt and oil, and the toasted bread was good. Overall, I might go back for coffee or a drink, but not for a meal.

R S.

Yelp
A home run in Clarendon. My friends and I came here for dinner on a weeknight. According to Resy, this gem is under a "soft launch" so we were excited to try it out. The location is so convenient - tons of street parking and very walkable for the metro. The ambiance is excellent. It was drizzly when we came, so we got an indoor table, but they have a great indoor/outdoor concept. The patio is adorable and spacious, and they have a big folding glass door to let plenty of fresh air inside. Loved the clean and modern decor. The drinks were so classy and delicious. I got the purpletini. It is well balanced and strong too, but in a really sneaky sort of way since it was so smooth. The food was 5 stars -- two of my friends are vegetarian and they raved about the options and the flavor of the veggie dishes. They loved the squash blossom salad and the cauliflower pasta. For the Non-veg options we also got mushroom toast -- hearty and delicious, the croquettes -- nice and crispy, salty and yummy. The scallops were seared nicely with a corn and veggie salad on the side. The pot de crème for dessert was a winner, and more than enough for a couple of people to share. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything that came out. I loved the food, ambiance and whole experience of our evening. Our whole party agreed we'd be back (frequently!) can't wait to see how they continue to grow and evolve as they get off the ground.

Dewey B.

Yelp
too expensive. Two drinks (very small!!!!!) and one appetizer = $60 + tip Crab dip tastes like pizza. Why? Nice to sit outside but won't come back. Too expensive.

Madison B.

Yelp
Have been so excited for this place to open up! The outdoor space is so cute, there's a great vibe and tons of seating. Our service was great and quick and the bartender was very knowledgeable in providing suggestions for cocktails. I tried the tiki clandestino, it had a good smoky banana flavor, it was a little thick but I did enjoy it! The cocktail prices were a little high in my opinion so if I went back I'd probably get wine or beer, but otherwise excited to go back here for happy hour!

Josh G.

Yelp
I went for drinks and a light dinner this past week and enjoyed it. Bar Ivy is a new addition to the Clarendon scene and is trendy. I'd recommend a reservation, particularly if you wish to sit in the outdoor patio area. The drinks were good and the food was tasty and very nicely presented with ample options for vegetarians as well. The vibe was very farm to table like and the atmosphere was inviting. The service was a little quirky with some staff members either too attentive or not attentive enough, but I'm sure that will be worked out with time and/or experience. All in all, I'd recommend it and hope to return soon.

Amy C.

Yelp
Food was very good- although limited regular plates- more smaller appetizer plates. It seemed pretty expensive for what we got- especially the drinks. My husband got a martini which came in a very small glass and was $18. (Also he asked for a lemon twist and got a lemon wedge) I'm happy to pay $18 for a drink but I want a decent size cocktail- these are like a 1/3rd of most restaurants. It's a small thing but for me an essential part of enjoyment dinner is a good cocktail and this missed the mark. Also not really good for kids- we take ours everywhere and restaurants usually have a few things off menu or adaptable items. No options here except for regular menu.

Doug A.

Yelp
One of the best new restaurants in Arlington. Amazing food, outstanding service; fresh smaller in house menu. Oscar the bartender is one of the best....ask for him! Worth the trip.

Bobby D.

Yelp
Restaurant staff is poorly undertrained, lies to customers about what their billed for, and managers cover up and don't support the guarantees by the server and lies to cover them up instead of owning up to it.

Kristin M.

Yelp
This place definitely doesn't have the customer in mind. Management should train their servers better because we were told one thing and then told something else completely when we closed out our tab. We asked our server in the beginning if they could split the checks and he said yes, I numbered your seats and can split by who ordered what at the end. The manager comes over at the end and says something different and said we could not split the check. As someone who works in customer service, if your associate messes up it shouldn't be on the customer. You should want to fix the problem for the customer. Instead the employee came out with the check at the end of meal and said "Sorry, I'm new" and will not be splitting the check by seat and instead they will split the check a percentage of the number of people at the table. The manager Jake should have honored what the server had told us but instead Jake the manager didn't care about customer service and we're closing early and didn't care about us as customers. Keep in mind this is 2:45 on a Sunday, HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

Eric K.

Yelp
The waiter told us they could split the check by person and just needed to remember where we sat in a 6 person group. At the very end of the meal, they came out and said it could only be split divided by the number of people in the group completely at odds of what the server originally said. Not to mention they were taking the umbrellas over us away for other tables the entire time. Then closed super early because no one was there. What a terrible place! They're sure to be closing in no time for a good reason!

David B.

Yelp
We went for happy hour. Overall, everything was very expensive and we still left hungry. The food was good, but small portions. The croquettes were delicious and the bread and butter was to die for. However, the drinks were not good at all. The rebujito was incredibly bitter and almost undrinkable while the sangria tasted like straight mango juice (which wasn't bad, but not what sangria should taste like, and did not taste the least bit alcoholic). Service was fine, but a bit slow despite us being the only people there and we were sitting at the bar. The inside of the place is very modern & trendy, and gives off a good vibe.

My husband and I went for a dinner date Friday night after work. They were able to fit us in before our reservation time and we sat at a high top near the bar. The atmosphere is very lively with jam able music and an open patio. We had the Rangoon and flat bread pizza as appetizers and I had the gnocchi for my entre while my husband had the duck. My gnocchi was good but not great, the duck and out appetizers were much better. We had the apple pie and ice box cake for desert. Both were amazing. I will say I don't feel like I got to fully enjoy my experience due to being extremely exhausted from work the previous week so we will be back to give bar ivy another try!

Yelp
Was looking forward to checking this place out, but unfortunately the service we received didn't leave a good impression. When we were seated, we were told by the hostess we had to wrap up our time 7:45 (reservation was for 6 pm). I know restaurants have put time limits on reservations, which I'm fine with, it was the lack of having this information available when I made the reservation. Anyways, when we sat down, outside, we had a waiter come introduce himself and said he would be 1 of 3 servers helping us today. He made a great suggestion for a cocktail after a couple visits, while we decided what we wanted, he took our order. Food arrived promptly, was very good, and our server came back 1 more time to check on us. Then that was it. We never saw him nor the other 2 again for quite some time. As we were approaching the end of our drinks, no follow up visit to ask if we'd like another one, no removal of plates (which had flies coming around which was annoying) nor asking us if there was anything else on the menu we'd like. He seemed to be pre-occupied with his friends who were sitting at a nearby table and perhaps a larger group that was nearby as well. But you'd think w/ 3 people there to help us, one of them would have come up to take our plates? Also, what appeared to management (man in a hawaiin influenced shirt) walked by us a couple of times as well, with no acknowledgement that the empty plates could be taken away or to ask us if we wanted anything else. Eventually someone came to take the plates and we asked for our check since didn't want to stick around for more mediocre service. I'll also add, we were sitting near the trees, and unfortunately too close to the speaker which they seemed to have playing on blast. I liked the music choice but when it gets too loud where I can't hear the people across from me, it annoys me. At some point it was lowered, but then it seemed to go back up again and I didn't stick around to ask if they'd turn it down again. I may go again to see if the service we got was a fluke but if it wasn't, I won't waste my time there no matter how nice of an outdoor seating area it is or how good the food is. Plenty of other options with much better service.

Yelp
Bar Ivy has a great atmosphere. The waiter was great and their miso butter and burger was phenomenal..

Yelp
The restaurant is cute and service is good. However the food and portions are wildly overpriced for what you get and the menu is small.

Yelp
Such great food and service! This is a little hidden gem in Arlington. Great for social events or group dinners.
