A New Carnivalesque Neighborhood Bar Hopes to Revive the Sunset Strip | Eater LA
"The Sunset Strip’s newest nightlife spot is a cocktail bar by the team behind Fairfax’s Blue Collar and the Cold Shoulder speakeasy, transformed from the former Rock & Reilly’s into an opulent nighttime destination where meticulously mixed drinks use house-prepared tinctures, unique syrups, and fresh juices. At Bar Jubilee, the carnival vibe comes through plush wall curtains, a long copper bar, velvety booths, hanging gold lights, and music-icon portraits—David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust and a painting of Amy Winehouse in full clown makeup—with an upstairs game room featuring a TV and pool table rounding out the 3,000-square-foot space. The menu plays to the theme with original cocktails like the Orville Old Fashioned (popcorn syrup, fat-washed bourbon, Angostura bitters, and salt), the Gladiator (limoncello, olive leaf liqueur, Cocchi Americano, hazelnut gin, Suze, and rosemary), Bear on a Unicycle (muddled berries, pomegranate grenadine, peanut butter–washed bourbon, lemon, and cranberry juice), and the Bearded Lady (fresh lemon and apple juice, lavender, honey, egg white, and gin), with most drinks at $18 and alcohol-free options at $14, including fresh juices like cucumber, lime, agave, and mint. Open daily from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. with a 7 to 8 p.m. happy hour when all cocktails are $12, Bar Jubilee aims to reawaken the Strip’s bustling past as a true neighborhood bar and third place where people can talk to one another." - Mona Holmes
