Bar Lizette

Bar Lizette is the best place for cocktails and an amazing wine selection in Northwest Philly. The atmosphere inside and outside (they have seasonal patio seating) makes you feel like you're at someone's fancy home. The bartenders and servers are hospitable and make you feel like the only guest there. The creativity behind the bar and in the kitchen--and those who bring it--make this place a true gem.

One of the best dining experiences each of us had!!! Samller venue with a relaxing historic atmosphere and friendly staff! This place was recommended to us by a local friend in Philadelphia who wasnt with us. Kayla, the hostess told us outright that she didn't think they would be able to give us good service due to being busy and understaffed when we arrived. She saw we were disappointed as we talked about where else to go. Then she said if we wait 30 min they could probably help us out. We didn't have time to wait so I told them we were from out of town and no worries about having a lost customer because I will try try again next time that I'm I town. She paused and said she thinks they can make it happen if we can be patient with them. So we took a table. ----- The food was impressive and absolutely delicious!!! No exaggeration. Our waiter Brandon was excellent timely, personable! Easy to joke around with and we had a few good laughs! On top of all that, there were 2 things we ordered that the kitchen didn't have enough left for a whole serving. So they gave us what they had left as well as a replacement order on the house! This people in this restaurant went over and beyond normal expectations to give us a good experience. Highly recommend visiting this restaurant when you're in Philly!!

The restaurant offered an intimate ambiance with subdued lighting, creating a romantic and cozy atmosphere. We went during the day and sat near the open bay door windows, which also made for a wonderful experience. Whether you’re meeting with friends or going on a date, this is a great environment for either. The cocktails are top-notch: we had the vesper. We will certainly be going back again. The duck breast and the mushroom cassoulet were delicious.

Such a lovely neighborhood spot. I like that you can dress up or down, you can have innovative and delicious cocktails - or not - and the noise level is as such that one can have a lovely, intimate dinner. Great date spot (!) but not so "romantic" that you can't have a business dinner here as well. The food is CHEFS KISS!

Cozy, quirky spot in a great location. Enjoyed our meal and cocktails tonight. It’s a great addition to the neighborhood. Very cool decor. Restaurant itself is quite loud. Service was pretty slow despite being well staffed.

A popular, busy restaurant with good food and service if rather overpriced. Seating at tables may be preferred, as the tables are rather wide in the fixed booths making access, at any size, awkward. Scallops a good dish, if pricey for just 4 scallops at 32+. Brussel sprouts starter excellent provided, as we do, you enjoy oven baked to dark and pungent. Bread and butter is charged at $8 rather that included free most other restaurants locally and in the city. A small glass of very average Bordeaux blend sets you back $16; yes you can pay this at upscale and popular venues in the city, but the wine quality is invariably a lot better. $60 a head with just one beverage per head feels a bit like gauging, but you will likely need to reserve for weekend dining as popular. Yes, it is noisy, making discussion an effort, and you may not be able to hear your waiter unless sitting very close.

I have been to Bar Lizette numerous times and the food has been consistently good. However, the Prix Fare 2025 New Year’s Eve dinner was disappointing. The soup (mushroom) and appetizer (fried lentils) were good, but the bread and entree were disappointing, especially considering the price ($125., drinks not included). The bread was dry and not warm, it seemed it probably had been cut and warmed for quite a while before served, now the same quality I expected and had experienced before in the course of a normal meal. The entree (Dover sole) was tasteless.

We were meeting up with some friends for dinner and a show nearby. We made reservations first. We were warmly welcomed by the bartender . It really was a delight when we called and then when we came. We were treated so nicely. The delightful host kindly seated us, and our wonderful server Kayla, came soon after and offered to take our drink order and let us know the specials. She engaged so wonderfully with us, and I felt really cared for because we kind of had to run out the door by a certain time because of our show... And she was so kind to make sure we were cared for and enjoyed our visit at Bar Lizzette. The way she spoke about the offerings in the menu really sounded like poetry. Everything sounded so nice. I ordered a beet salad as an appetizer, and then the squash stuffed with lentils. All my items tasted so very fresh. It was very colorful and very delicious. The serving size was perfect and I was really impressed with all the care taken to such a healthy meal!! The staff here is so fantastic. Amazing food! I look forward to coming back!!

My friend who lives in Germantown asked me to meet her here at this bistro, for happy hour. I'm so glad this happened! This is a beautiful place! Dark wood, beautiful red wallpaper and tapestry with glowy lighting! The happy hour is great! Very reasonably priced cocktails with sweet small bites on the menu. If you are a fries person, I definitely recommend the Parmesan fries! So good. Delicious salads, large plates and small plates with French and German inspired fare. In addition, the sweetest service I have had in a long time. This is probably a destination place. It's that good!

Absolutely horrible service. Took 45 minutes to get water and 55 mins to get a BOTTLE OF WINE to the table. We didn't have an actual waitress - just people passing by saying "can I get anything else?" ...uh maybe our orders? They dropped the first app before we got our first waters. The scallops were grossly overcooked. Lentils looked like poop from a butt. They took our plates and silverware, then dropped entrees and NEVER BROUGHT PLATES OR SILVERWARE to eat entrees! We sat for 15 mins before we could flag someone down for forks to eat our food. We asked for check and then waited 20 mins for someone to get it, but just had to take it up to the bar to pay. Worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Ever !

Food hamburger delicious. Ambiance superb and convenient. Excellent warm courteous servers.

Went for the first time with two other friends. We have been in there before when it was a different restaurant, and I can say they have really created a beautiful space. The food was outstanding. Everything we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately the service was beyond slow.. well, our waitress was slow. Absent at times. We never got a wine we ordered. Finally to get things going I went to find her so we could order after dinner drinks and she gave me attitude hahaha Based on the food it would be 5 stars but the waitress, wow. She was too busy chatting it up with fellow servers..

This was our first time at Bar Lizette, we LOVED it! We had a little of everything, the stand outs were the French Onion Soup, Tuna Tartare, Mussels, Rabbit and Burgers. The wines were great and our server was outstanding. We can't wait to return!

Drinks were really really good and the food was amazing. Our server was a little bit weird and stiff and definitely overburdened but we had a really nice night. It's a beautiful place with good food and good drink drinks

Ordered bread which came out cold- I think their food is ok but they do make well crafted cocktails. I love their namesake cocktail with is a gin, olive oil washed vodka based herbal cocktail. Original and yummy. Great, attentive staff.

Four of us had dinner there on Sept. 10. Cocktails, Celine and Adelie Affogato, excellent. Also excellent, French onion soup, Beignets and Haricot Verts. Mediocre, the Nicosia Salad and Tuna Tartare, which had so many extremely spicy jalapeño pieces that I could not taste much else. I want to give a big shout out to our server, Sadie. She is delightful, very pleasant and efficient, always with a smile on her face. As servers go, she is a 10! Unfortunately, the worst part of the evening was the supersonic noise level. The acoustics are the worst! The noise level was fine until the place started to fill up. Then we had to yell at each other to be heard, although we were just a couple feet from each other in a booth. We were at Bar Lizette before, and the noise was nowhere near this bad, but it was only about half-full. This time, once it filled up, it became a very unpleasant experience, and we were anxious to leave.

I stopped for a glass of wine after a long day, the place looked in inviting very elegant so I figured it was a safe space and ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio The white male server just took my money off The bar never said a price or gave me a check or anything. Just charge me to 17.50 then put the 2.50 on the bar and walk away no thank you or anything. It was not busy. That was the first thing I picked up on. I was talking to a very nice white couple sitting next to me. And I brought up the fact that he had never asked me if I needed another drink because I wanted someone to witness this behavior and he did just that again. Of course they felt bad. and wanted to say something, but I said no don't make a big deal out of it That showed me that I wasn't wanted there in his eyes I don't know if it was because I was the only black person there or what the deal was but what the server did not know that I too was a server and not only had a served a number of Pennsylvania governors in my pass but President Bush Senior, and now the young man was pre-judging me maybe he thought I couldn't afford another drink whatever the case was I don't know but when I call back to complain to the manager he answered the phone and asked me why I was calling and what was it about that also was unacceptable. I said that was between the manager and I thank you for your concern. I was having an excellent time with the couple beside me. I would've had another glass of wine, but because of this server racist behavior, I will never ever go back there. The neighborhood has always been a very diverse neighborhood and this kind of behavior has never been tolerated. I've lived in this neighborhood since the 60s.
