San Francisco Restaurant Delarosa Sets Its Sights on Palo Alto Expansion | Eater SF

"A new bar at 639 Santa Cruz Avenue is set to open on Monday, February 3; it isn't open yet but carries an unusual backstory, as the site was once Magoo's Pizza Parlor, where the first Grateful Dead show was played (the band called themselves the Warlocks at that time). The venue plans to spin Grateful Dead albums on Wednesdays and play lounge music on other evenings." - Dianne de Guzman

Last night my wife and I were in downtown Menlo Park and we went to Loretta's Bar. Thank you, Loretta's team, for making our time so enjoyable. Your service, attention, and products were very pleasant. We'll be back soon. Thank you.

My first visit to Bar Loretta which is next door to and Started by Bistro Vida owner Ali El Safy. The food comes form Bistro Vida They have a full bar and several beers on tap. Seating is inside or outside. I had a Sierra Nevada beer on tap and and the Bistro Vida Burger

Fantastic place to hang with friends or grab a drink before or after dinner. Loretta feels like a nightclub in LA or New York. The bar is gorgeous and the lounge seating is elegant and chic. Their mixology capabilities are outstanding. I’ve now been there on several occasions to meet friends and we always have a lovely time. Ali, the owner, is gracious and attentive to all the guests. I feel like a VIP every time.

I am so glad this place has opened up in Menlo Park. The drinks are delicious, the atmosphere really elegant and the owner Ali is really warm, welcoming and accommodating. He even helped us celebrate our friend’s birthday by serving the cake we had brought. Oh and the DJ was also spinning some really nice tunes.

Cocktails at the new bar in Menlo Park this evening were excellent. The owner; Ali and his staff were wonderful. The cheese plate and cocktails were delish. We’ll be back! You have to ask the owner to tell you the story of the name 😊

An elegant and sophisticated bar lounge with a sleek and contemporary design. The perfect place to meet: vibrant ambiance, stylish guests, exceptional drinks, great food, and it opens late! What else? 🤩

Bar Loretta is one of those places that checks all the boxes — great food, great drinks, great service, and proximity to The Guild. Great spot for after work drinks or drinks before/after a show at The Guild. It's a fun environment. Ali Elsafy is the mastermind behind Bar Lorreta and the neighboring restaurant, Bistro Vida. Two Menlo Park gems. Thanks Ali!

Yelp
Loretta tried.....very excited to have a bar in Menlo Park. Three things have to be fixed for Loretta's to actually be a place to want to hang out. 1. Turn down the lights! This is a bar not a restaurant. Bright lights destroy intimacy and fun. Hate, hate, hate, brightly lit bars! Takes all the fun out. 2. Soften the hardness that makes it painfully noisy. Put some sound dampening on the ceiling, add some carpets, anything to deaden the sound a bit. It is too harsh and you cannot hear the music or even each other. 3. Allow the spaces to be filled in. It is too open, too many dead spots, not enough close spaces to encourage people to hang out, drink, sway to music, get to know others. Bars are places that need to foster community. Loretta's location and owner are excellent. It needs to warm up and be an actual bar, a place to hang out. Right now, it is way too harsh, too sterile, to invite repeat business. The drinks are frickin' amazing. I really, really, really want Loretta's to be a smashing success so, turn down the lights, soften the acoustics, and let people get close.

Yelp
I think this was a furniture store of some sort in the past? The folks say it was a pizza place in the 60s but that is way before my time. Still in a very soft opening phase, in fact they cut the number of patrons after a certain time and had to close early (full hours after a period of soft open). Had come here because I was meeting an old friend for dinner and had just walked on by. Very nice upscale styling and the full bar is pretty stocked. Interesting older crowd off mostly locals. Staff are still training so I expect it to get better as they progress. Good to see an actual new bar in the area that is not necessarily also a restaurant (there are bites from next door I think) and eventually being open past 10pm.

Yelp
The decor is very classy and seating arrangements are upscale. Unfortunately the noise is deafening which precludes ANY conversation. Hopefully they will quickly find a solution to this very disappointing deal-breaker so the locals will be enticed to make it their 'go to' spot to gather with their friends.

Yelp
Cocktails were so so so yummy and the service was top notch. Highly anticipated this bar given there is no other great nightlife in MP. It definitely delivered. Everyone in there having a good time with ambient lighting and great vibes. Coming back soon for sure!
