Great place to hang out and watch a game for an afternoon. Food is decent. Bartenders are nice. Plenty of TVs. And as long as the weather is good they keep the outside open to Main St so theres good air circulation and plenty of people watching.

My food was well prepared, appealing and tasty. My drink was balanced and unique. The wings were tender and well seasoned. I wasn't a fan of the automatic gratuity, but all was well otherwise.

Just a heads up. These guys automatically add 20% tip to your bill even for a party of 2. We were here with another couple so it wasn’t a large party. The place was empty. We believe in tipping for the service we receive. The best part is you can see they ask for additional tip so if you aren’t looking too close and notice they already added a generous 20%, you might add even more. Update 11/26: please see attached receipt photo which shows server, table, date time, location being Royal Oak.

Stopped in on a Thursday night for dinner before a concert. Service was great. They were training a new server and they treated each other with respect while helping us. With tells a lot about their working environment. We had amazing food and the service was right on point. Loved the Monterey chicken and the bacon burger with fries was delicious.

I was there on a Saturday night for a birthday party. It was nice vibe and the music was ok. We had separate checks and our server was attentive and knowledgeable by making sure they knew that I have a shellfish allergies. I had the citrus salmon with potatoes and asparagus 😋. It was cooked perfectly! The price for the portion was great. I wish I had more vegetables.

First time here. Place wasn’t busy at all. Waitress was okay. Food was okay. Mac and cheese was very bland.

The. Best. Burgers. I work a few blocks away and love coming here for lunch. They are able to give very quick service which allows me to get in and out on my lunch hour. When you come, you must try the burgers. You will not be disappointed!

I thought I’d give Bar Louie a try, because I’m often down the street at HopCat. We initially requested to be seated in the outdoor patio space, but the wind was noncooperative. We went inside & sat near the window (still a beautiful view). We waited about 10 mins & our drink order was taken, but we didn’t want to wait again so we placed our appetizer order as well. The Chicken Nachos weren’t all bad, but there were more nacho chips than toppings. The cheese curds were decent but should’ve been $6 at best.. the spicy cheese curds at Tubby’s are better. The fries need work for sure. We didn’t even bother with an entree. We asked for the bill & a to-go box of Bavarian Pretzels (free in app). Then BOOM… a Gratuity added for 2 drinks (only 1 has alcohol) & some underwhelming appetizers. A $70 bill?? And in that moment, my decision to stop was met with regret. Ah Well…. Life goes on. I came, I tried, I left.

I love bar Louie ! The service is always great and the food is always good. I ordered the Swiss burger and it was decent. Usually they are better but the bread was a tad bit dry. The fries were good. Like usual, I liked the service and ambience.

Happy Hour was great! Food was tasty. Really enjoyed all the flavors of the margarita flatbread. Calamari had a kick to it. Service was fantastic!

We've been here a few times to meet friends, and every time we've had great food served hot, and a good amount of food for the prices! This visit I had the Cobb salad and it hit the spot! My friend had the fish and chips, and that was also very delicious--flaky and light fish, fries were crisp and well seasoned.

2 drinks, Burger plate, 1 steak, 2 appetizer....$180.00 Outrageous cost for tiny watered down drinks and a few small meals. Food much like Chili's at 3x the price.

Very average food but when it's late and just want a bite or cocktail it is one of those few places that are open late that you might get a decent bite . I must say the chicken wings were pretty good although they had a slight kick .. I had the Parmesan wings My Seat was at bar .. service with bartender style wiyh all bartenders helping each other so they were attentive, .. ambience 30iash plus people I just having a drink with their friends or companions.

Went on a weekday when they were not busy. Parking is available on the street. They have a sign on the door that notifies you of 20% added to all bills and also the right to refuse anyone for any reason. Not sure what goes on there but it was a turnoff for me. Bar Louie is not a fine dining space a typically bar, so not sure of the reasoning for the post. The food was average. The bartenders was attentive. Pricing is aligned with most places, but the food is not anything I would go out my way for as it's a chain. I had fried pickles which were deep fried, but soggy before I got home. Ordered a salmon meal as I had points I wanted to use since Livonia location shutdown. It was not bad.

Came here for the $8 Burger deal on a Tuesday night. We sat at the bar and service was quick though vibes were kind of weird, the place was kind of empty except for some others sitting at the bar, and no one was super friendly or anything. The $8 offer is a really good deal! You can get any craft burger except for the The Big Louie. Truffle fries were a $2 up charge but worth it. Food was fresh, the burger was a good size. and everything was super tasty!

There was street parking. We were able to get seated right away. We ordered a mushroom flat bread and added pepperoni to it, calamari, and chicken nachos. everything was solid and good. It was standard bar food.

It's only a matter of time before this places shutters. It's not due to the food quality (which is actually decent) but the terrible service. I made reservations on OpenTable; Idk why since there's never more than 4 occupied tables in this restaurant at any given time. I waited by the host stand for 20 min at 6:30pm on a Friday but there was no host and no one in sight. We just left and walked down the street to a better try that actually wanted our business. This place is just awful.

We went for lunch. Only 3 people at the bar and one other table. They had one waitress holding down the entire place. She seemed distracted. Didn't fill our water after she brought them. Didn't look at us when she checked on us (the one time) and never brought us the bill. I went to get it and saw that an automatic 20% "gratuity" for our 2-top. This is not a tip then- it's a surcharge. Done with Bar Louie.

After all of these years, BL changed their happy hour, which use to stop at 7pm but now it's from 3-6. That was disappointing because they were usually the only happy hour I could catch getting off work so late. The happy hour menu has changed as well. I've been coming to BL for over a decade now. I remember when they use to have $1 burger Tuesdays but now it's $8 burger Tuesday, which I'm not complaining about, it's still a good deal. I'm very sad they closed the location at Great Lakes Crossing. I have a lot of memories at that place. I hope they're able to survive the current issues because I really like their food and I love their drinks. They have the best lemon drop I've ever had at any establishment. That is my go to drink along with the diva martini, which you can get for 1/2 off on martini Mondays. Service is always good. The best vibes are on the weekends, happy hour is usually pretty quiet.

This Bar Louie spot is a good one. Service and food are both excellent and we've been here multiple times. Menu has good variety and everything I've tried has been good.

Disappointed doesn't begin to describe the service or the food. We arrived just before 5pm and there was maybe 1 or 2 tables occupied and there were a couple people at the bar. We were greeted upon walking in and told to just sit wherever we wanted. Someone dropped off the menus. The waitress came by and took our order - she wasn't friendly, she seemed annoyed by a couple questions about the menu. The chicken parm grilled cheese was not good at all. The top piece of bread was not grilled (it was just warmed with a lot of butter that was melted into it), the sauce in the sandwich was pretty gross - tasted like it was fresh out of a can. The fries were decent. My cocktail was decent, but not at all worth $14 and I feel Like the Italian sandwich at BK (for half the cost) is better than this. Our waitress never came back to check on us, our drinks were dry, even the waters. We probably would have had another round of cocktails, but that didn't happen due to poor service. Then when we received our bill for our table of two - there was a 20% gratuity added. We asked where that was posted and we were told it was posted by the front door (which we confirmed on the way out). I'm generally an excellent tipper but it is based on service! You can give me bad food but if you give me good service, I'll still tip you really well and substantially over 20%. Well, this was icky food and even worse service was no way deserving a tip, let alone 20%. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. It is overpriced and service is seriously lacking as evidenced by a non-negotiable 20% gratuity added to everyone's bill.

We are here visiting for a couple of days, and needed to find a place EVERYONE could find something to eat. This was the place. I saw some bad reviews for service, but that was not our experience at all. We had Maddy, who was very prompt, nice and very good at her job. The food was amazing. There were 5 of us. My husband and I and our 3 children (15,13,9) and everyone agreed it was a 10/10. We had fried pickles, burgers, the grilled cheese with tomato soup and some sliders. Everyone enjoyed! Only got photos of the pickles, grilled cheese and soup.

I went there yesterday and I will likely never go back. This has been a go-to place for me and my friends for girls nights (martini monday) but after what I dealt with yesterday I don't plan on ever going back, and neither do any of my friends who were with me. First- Service was mid. Took forever to get drinks even though there were maybe five tables in the whole restaurant, including us. Also, the server did have some attitude after I had an issue with my drink (more below). Second- Drinks were bad. In the past I have loved the martinis here but they have gone downhill so badly. I started with a martini I order OFTEN and it had a funky taste to it, like the glass wasn't fully cleaned or an ingredient in the drink was bad or moldy. I nicely asked my server if they could remake it and maybe check their ingredients to ensure everything is good. She went back to the manager to check with him (dont know why a remake of a drink would require manager approval) and she came back and told me they can remake it but it's "going to be the exact same so if you want get something else". Seemed not even slightly concerned by me telling her something in the drink was off, and wasn't even apologetic about the first drink being bad. I decided to try a different martini, and my second drink was better, but still not great. The manager didn't stop by to check on us like I would've hoped after having a drink remade, especially considering he was just hanging around the restaurant doing little to nothing the entire time my group was there (and again, the restaurant was basically empty). Third - the food. I just got an the trio chips and dip appetizer. The guac was good, nothing special. However, the queso and the salsa both tasted off - a similar off taste that my first martini had! Overall a crappy food experience. My friends agreed they would not eat here again. Shortly after eating, my stomach turned quickly. I ended up nauseous all night and it has continued into today. While I can't be certain that it's the drinks or food from Bar Louie that caused it, but the timing is suspicious. I dont know if this place is under new management or something, but it has gone significantly downhill. I'd stay away, Blind Owl across the street has better drinks and better staff.

We will NEVER go back! Stopped in last night for one drink. I ordered an Espresso martini, and my boyfriend ordered a $6 happy hour drink. Imagine our shock when the bill came, and it was $33! They ended up taking $2 off bc the server made a mistake, but they still charged over $20 for an espresso martini. The problem is they don't have drink prices on their menu. Personally, I think this should be illegal. I have had espresso martinis all over Detroit and most of them cost $16 or less. There is nothing about this drink that should make it cost over $20!!

We entered at 11am and asked if they were open, yes was the response, opened at 10, its just slow, which we knew since we were the only ones there. The male manager was turning the TVs on, the female bartender greeted us, our server Shante finally came over and it took 10 minutes to take our order on her handheld thing, and we still got an incorrect order. First the salad was Cesar not side, then the chicken was wings not tenders, when I made it clear I was not happy she said let me get my manager, she brought over the female bartender, who was not the manager, all she did was ask, so you want tenders not wings. Then the bill comes, nothing has been adjusted for the fact that we had to take the chicken to go as we were seeing a show and it took 40 minutes to get them, a 20% gratuity was added without our knowledge, just terrible. We expressed our dissatisfaction and her response was to be very rude and condescending. Upon walking out the manager noticed we were upset and said he didn't know anything was the matter. I said well that is on all of you as we had complained multiple times and if your waitress and bartender can't tell you then you have a much larger problem. This all said, I will never ever go back, even though when Bar Louie had multiple locations in MI, I frequented them all. This one will probably close too, if this is the standard of service they provide.

Does not participate in national promos. No $5 burger Tuesday here as emailed. Too bad. Also, was reading back to my last review from 3 years ago and it's wild how things have changed. No one greets you when you get there. The host stand is empty even though it says "wait to be seated" it's really "seat yourself." The front tables all have reserved signs on them even though the restaurant was probably 80% empty. The lights went out at 8:15pm which was odd because it wasn't necessary. There was no bar crowd. Just people trying to eat and watch games. I hope this place improves. Our waitress was not that attentive. Took 20 mins for her to bring back the check after she asked if there was anything else we needed, and we were done eating at that point. Also, they add 20% gratuity automatically no matter how many people in your party. Only 2 of us. While I'm fine with them getting tipped out, I feel like it didn't motivate them to provide any decent service.

Great seating. Me and my date were at a booth and had some privacy which I appreciate. It was at brunch time and obvious came for the MIMOSASSSS. It's $10 for 5 drinks. I highly recommend the mimosas, I'm a sort of a lightweight so 5 drinks were enough for me. It was Definitelly more juice than champagne ratio so take that as you will but I liked the ratio. I personally care more about the flavor profile than straight chugging alc. Onto the food, the hot chicken sandwich was gooood. Our waitress recommended it and it didn't go wrong. The honey that was on the sandwich and juicy chicken made the burger! Sooo tasty and perfect with the mimosas. My date got the allnighter and she liked it-perfect for brunch. Parking sucks sometimes so try coming early for it. It's free on sundays however!!

A great place for drinks and brunch after a zumbathon. Amazing sangria, but the avocado toast was nothing special.

Absolutely disgusting service. Manager, bartender, waitress, Meeka, was the most disgusting person I have encountered in a long time. Me, My sister, and coworker/ friend went here on a Wednesday about 12 noon to celebrate our graduation from school. What a way to ruin that moment. The young lady never said a word to us after we sat down. Literally 15 mins of no interaction at all. There were maybe 6 other ppl in the entire establishment beside us and literally no interaction what so ever. That is so odd to me. Another group of two walked in 20 mins after us and she actually greeted them. What was more odd was we eere the only African American ppl I'm the establishment, but she was black too!!!! Mixed but very much so African American. How weird?! We decided to leave since we were being completely blown off. As we discussed the next place we were gonna attend we decided on Hop Cat out loud. Literally said "let's try hop cat" as we walked out, the very first thing she said to us the entire time was "have fun" in a sarcastic tone. Huhhhhhhhh????? Why'd you say anything at this point and why are you picking. I didnt even get to enjoy food or drinks there due to her. She then continued to REFUSE to give me her bosses contact info or the contact info for corporate. Disgusting behavior. And I'm going to make sure I don't ever spend my black money in there again going forward cause.... Weird

Great well decorated restaurant, great sports vibe, atmosphere, staff were very friendly and prompt, the food and service were good. This is a great spot to meet with friends for a Detroit sports game. Plenty of TVs and seating - high-tables are nice or there are booths with TVs as well. Front of location is open air on warmer nights which gives the place a nice outdoor cafe feel. Revised menu has a lot more great burgers and sandwiches. I had the fish n chips - one of the better batters I have had in recent years. Lions won that night to top things off. Fun times. A misunderstanding with the check for the nights charges was promptly addressed.

Came here for a quick bite while waiting for a ride and I got the fried pickles. They were seasoned great and they weren't too thin, I liked the thickness of the pickle. The dipping sauce was good as well.

FOOD WAS HORRIBLE not freshly cooked at all nachos were stale with dried meat on them, wings were tough and the manager when we asked to remove from bill due to the food items being cold and stale... he threaten to call the police on us. UNACCEPTABLE!!! Avoid eating here at all cost. I rate this place a ZERO "0" 11/21/2024

Trash service my 3 year old gives me better service, sat for a whole 15 mins AT THE BAR waiting for someone to help us

I visited the Royal Oak location on 5/4/2025, after seeing a movie with my fiancé. He ordered the blazin' burger with an impossible patty and no cheese. We understand that mistakes happen and none of us are robots. However, there was nothing done on behalf of management to appease the customer. He had to wait another 15 minutes for another burger because it was made incorrectly. As patron and as a manager of a higher end restaurant, I expect at least bare minimum when it comes to making sure that the customer patronages the restaurant again. There are too many choices around for the service to be so lackluster. The manager was rude and did absolutely nothing for us, even after we asked. The gesture is all that is necessary, in these situations. A complementary dessert or anything similar. We got nothing. She never even bothered to apologize. Partridge Creek's staff "blows yours out of the water." We will not be back to the establishment again and wanted to make sure that you understand that your staff is obviously not qualified to deal with public, with an optimistic demeanor. The 20% automatic gratuity isn't a bad idea when the service is up to par. Stay away from here. Hopcat is nearby!

This is hands down some of the BEST chicken bites I have ever tasted. The atmosphere was extremely chill. Everyone was in a zone with friends or their dates. The service was top tier will definitely be back again. 5Star experience!

It was the service FOR ME! Their bar tender ALEX is absolutely amazing. She very engaging and attentive. She made sure we had a great time and our drinks were so good! I really only come when ALEX is there!!! THAT'S MY GIRL!!!!!!

20% automatic tip for a small group? Don't mind 20% but I'm glad I checked the bill first. Food was good but probably won't go back.

Always a good time at Bar Louie!!! The drinks are pretty solid. Service is hit or miss depending on how busy they are. Cool vibe! Would recommend!

I went out with my cousin it was a long piece of hair in her food. The waitress was rude about it & so was the manage. The piece of hair was blonde & me and my cousin hair is black and so was our waitress.

Dropped in after a late night movie for food and drinks. I highly recommend the Chicken Nachos and the Jalapeño Honey wings.The wings were the right amount of heat and sweet. The nachos are fully loaded with fresh Jalapeños on top. My only complaint was the service was a little slow, although many of the servers were standing around talking to each other. Anyway, one of the few places open for late night snacks...

This is a very unique setup for a bar Louie. The main bar of front is the bar that everyone sits at but there is a rear bar that looks a little bit more intimate. The windows in front give a good light and there's always someone to watch of course in Royal Oak. The bartenders were efficient though not overly friendly. But I could bypass that as long as the service was good. I had the shrimp tacos and they were delicious. I don't think it's a place that I would hang out but I definitely enjoyed my visit. It is a loud atmosphere, so if you are sensitive to that kind of thing I would say stay clear.

Decent atmosphere and decent food. But I cannot give this place more than 1 star. They legit scam you. And I'm not talking about their exorbitant prices. Which is a scam in itself ($5 for a Diet Coke, $18-20 for a burger). I'm talking about how when you cash out. They bring you a total with supposedly 20% already included and tell you "20% is split between all the staff, anything else goes towards your server." However, I had to ask about this. They didn't say anything, hoping you would add another 20%. But now you feel obligated to tip more and they are also standing over you watching you. Fine, I'll add more. Already annoyed. But wait. I see on the bottom of the machine my initial total plus the "20%" that they say they include. I do some quick math and it's actually MORE than 20%. So they automatically add 25% to your bill, lie to your face, all while asking for more. I hope management sees this cause wow. We ended up leaving and going to Bdubs for the rest of the night where I was handed a paper bill of all my items. Thank god.

Drinks were super strong and worth the money. Food was good and the service was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and received a complimentary order of garlic Parmesan wings!! A must try! Nice atmosphere in great location.

My brother & I came here. He wanted to try it out. This is a big corporate chain bar and it really shows. We wanted a couple drinks snd some food. Thats where things went downhill. The food quality wasent bad. It just also wasn't, well... good either. Typical gastropub wannabe mistake. Take regular food and change it to be "gastropuby". We ordered pepperoni pizza. Bagged, limp Hormel-style pepperoni, 3 cheeses (mozzerella, provalone and parm, and GIARDINIERA? Thats basically like green pepper. Whats it doing on pepperoni pizza? And a frozen "flatbread" crust. Would have been "meh" but the peppers make it a loser. If it were a veggie heavy pizza, then fine. But not here. Nextvwe got tge flash fried calimari. The calimare was obviously a frozed, pre-breaded one. That would be at least understandable but mixed in? Breaded & fried jalapeños. And NOTHING on the menu about it. Servicevwas fair. Kept the glass filled, was plesant enough, but had to wzit forever to get our check, and then they gave us THREE checks. Lastly? They added in gratuity. Im not surprised. Nobody will tip well for this disaster. I understand asded-in gratuity for larger groups, but for two? This was the final deal-breaker. I tip well, but just adding it in is unacceptable to me without some extenuating reason. All in all, overpriced, not very good bar grub, with mandatory tips. Never going back. And its a shame... its right by my house. But good news... next door is a pretty good Buffalo Wild Wings!

This place is great. The happy hour specials are a deal. I had the Tuesday after 5:00 burger wIth sirloin steak, grilled onions, cheese for only $3.50 it was budge and fantastic. Half price apps during happy hour are good. I split the nachos with a friend, they were good, lots of chicken , I just wish they had real cheese melted instead of cheese sauce.

Bar Louie can be a great vibe but I recommend going here during happy hour cause the prices suck if not.

Good place for a casual dinner. This visit was a veggie pizza & a winter punch (deep eddy lemon, O3 orange liqueur, Chloe Pinot Grigio, vanilla, winter citrus, sparkling water, orange & grapefruit). Delicious! Food was great....but service was lackluster. They had mandatory tip. Wonder if that impacted motivation or maybe our guy just doesn't have his heart in it. Unfortunately it was very obvious.

Came out on a Saturday night- just like anywhere the servers are going to be busy. We remained mindful of that, our server did her job and was still sweet about it. The food was incredibly average. The French onion soup didn't come out in a bowl, so it felt like you were getting less than what you were paying for. The calamari was a 2.5/5. Only the full squids were good, the rings were not good. Didn't have a crunch to the bite, wasn't settling for something that's fried. The blackened shrimp tacos- shrimp was underdone and it lacked flavor. Rationing the blackening seasoning? The tortillas were not warmed up. Overall, they were okay but that's all id give them. The quinoa chop salad was delicious, had nice flavor. Needed more dressing. However, it was a nice blend of a salad. 20% gratuity is added so expect that.

Food hit the spot, service was 10/10 (thanks to Janee Michelle, highkey recommend). Will be back!

Service was bad yet they put a 20% gratuity automatically on the bill. Fries were cold, pizza tasted like Chef Boy R Dee. I know this is a chain but had expected better than this. Awful.

20% auto gratuity, totally no incentive for staff to give good service, goes against the principle of tipping. Food mediocre, place that I will avoid in the future.

20 patrons+2 servers= 45 minutes to get food. The food was actually pretty good but getting in and out on an hour lunch break should be easily doable in Royal Oak. I'm not sure if our waitress was annoyed that we chose to sit outside or if this is just how the service at this restaurant is. With so many options in Downtown this has been crossed off of my future choices for lunch time options. Also be cautious, gratuity automatically applied regardless of party size. Suggestion to management, remove the guaranteed gratuity and maybe the staff will work a little harder for that tip!

Firs time here since they opened recently. Here for a power network event tonight. Great layout. Our group is by the private bar area with the pillar in the middle. Started off with the spinach artichoke dip and corn chips and the blackened salmon Caesar. The salmon was yummy and perfectly cooked and the dressing for the Caesar was tasty to the last bite. The romaine lettuce was crispy and fresh. We had 2 waitresses serving our area, they were quick and attentive and on it. Our network group loved the vibe and energy of this place. Some of the networkers enjoyed their chicken nachos too, ooey gooey goodness. I am happy to see a place that has good staying power. Here's to many long and prosperous years in RO.

My friend and I were looking for a new brunch place to try out in the downtown area, and decided to check this out. The breakfast burrito was unique, and well put together in terms of both presentation and taste. The combination of authentic spices, variety of different salsas, and the burrito itself was 10/10 and definitely worth the price. The staff was also super friendly/accommodating, and I enjoyed the option of outdoor seating. The brunch menu was also open until 3 pm so plenty of time to explore the area, and get food later :)

Thanks Bar Louie for a great night! We were celebrating a friend's birthday, wearing swag from the 1920's and felt like royalty! We had fantastic service, from a very attentive and generous server, Mike, and the manager came around to thank us for choosing Bar Louie to celebrate. Food was top notch! Portions were generous, flavors were delicious and presentation was fantastic! I can't believe I had not yet been to their RO location before but I'll definitely be returning!

Stopped in to enjoy a Friday night on the patio. I highly recommend the hot honey chicken sandwich. It was the right amount of heat. My husband had the grilled cheese special. He said it was more like a steak sandwich with cheese instead of a grilled cheese with steak, but he really liked it. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the table. We had to ask for the table to be wiped off three times (we asked the hostess and our server) before it was cleaned.

The food here was amazing and so was the service. I would absolutely go here again BUT there is one major flaw, the manager has the heat on so high, it was nearly unbearable to be in there for more than 5 mins, it had to be 88 to 90 degrees, no joke. We would have left sooner but there were few other restaurants open on a Monday night. Instead, I stripped down to a T shirt and we endured. We did bring it up to the manager, who said they would turn the heat down but didn't. That said, aside from the atmosphere, which is a huge reason to dine out, the food was amazing. I had the salmon. The service was very friendly and welcoming.
