We sat outside on the patio and simply loved the ambiance! The location is perfect! Right across the Waterway Square Fountains.
Our waitress Taï (spelling?) was honestly the best! Very professional and friendly. She has awesome customer service skills. I asked if they give AAA discount, as I thought that Bar Louie was part of Landry's. She asked her manager and told me they don't have AAA discount. I thanked her for checking and told her I wasn't sure that is why I asked.
The food was honestly top notch! Super delicious! We had Calamari, Fried pickles, pretzels, and Impossible Burgers. D. E. L. I. C. I. O. U. S.
I didn't like the green sweet dip with the pretzels, but the Queso was good.
Here is THE problem though!!
We were handed a menu with prices, that were DIFFERENT (cheaper) from when the bill came. All food items were higher than the menu we had. They don't put a price on their beverages by the way. I was told that margaritas are all $12. Beers vary between $5 and $7, but was charged $7.50. Didn't make a fuss about the beer, since there was no transparency to begin with. I don't like a lack of transparency.
Our sweet waitress went to the manager Emily, and came back telling us that their menu has updated and that I was given the wrong menu. And brought me the menu that her manager gave her with updated prices!
I said that it was not fair to hand me one menu, and then come and give me an "updated" menu when it is time to pay.
The manager came over and I explained to her that we were given a menu with cheaper prices and when it is time to pay I am told I have to pay more. She said that due to inflation, their prices are higher. I told her it just wasn't fair nor right.
I told her that I refuse to pay even one dollar more than what was on the menu that was handed to us.
She said: "So are you saying you will not pay your tap?" I said: "No. I said I will pay based on the menu you guys handed me originally, not what you NOW tell me is updated."
-"So I understand that you don't want to pay the tab."
-"I won't pay your updated tab because that is not the menu you gave me. I will pay based on the menu that was given to me. Can't you over ride it as a manager?"
She said she couldn't. It was the system and she can't do anything about it. And she said everyone else pays their tab.
So I asked her how many of those customers were given the same menu I had and charged them with a different "updated" price and they accepted to pay? She said "None. They just pay their tab." And that it is an error on their (Bar Louie) part, that they still have the old menus and it was given to us by mistake. Then she said that she doesn't want to argue with me anymore and said "fine" she will give me a discount.
I didn't ask for a discount. I asked before if they have AAA discount, cause I wasn't sure. But when I was told no, I never objected or made a fuss about it.
I was surprised because originally she TOLD me that she can NOT override the bill, even as a manager! So I asked her how come NOW she can do something about it!? She lifted her hands in the air, rolled her eyes and left, ignoring me.
As she was leaving, I told her that I don't want a discount, just to adjust my bill. That's all.
Guess which menu the table next to us had? The same one we were handed. I know cause I went and asked their permission to check their menus.
Our waitress came to pick up their menus, I told her to let her manager know that I am not the only one who was handed that menu "by mistake", but even those customers as well!! So they are doing it to others too! She came back and handed them the new "updated" menu.
The manager made us wait for a long time before sending the adjusted bill back. I believe we waited close to 20 minutes before she was done with her adjustment. It's not that the waitress didn't show up. Cause I saw the waitress catering to other customers many times meanwhile. It is just that it took a long time for the manager to adjust the bill.
When the adjusted bill came, I asked our waitress Taï to see both menus, and was given a menu without prices by mistake. At this point I laughed and asked how many menus do they have!?
The manager had adjusted the bill, but she kept the old taxes on. I didn't pay attention to that until later. And it was too late.
We just paid our bill, tipped our awesome waitress and left.
The only one giving attitude was the manager Emily that was working on Friday July 14th, 2023. It was between 10 and 11pm.
Taï should be a manager at Bar Louie in the Woodlands: professional, friendly, keeps her cool, and has super customer service skills.
Emily on the other hand, if she treats all her customers the way she did with me... she deserves to be demoted. She has Zero customer service skills and doesn't care about making it right to the customer.
That was plain wrong Bar Louie. I hope that their owner would read this review and trains their manager Emily better.
