Bar Luca Opens in Miami Beach, Florida | Eater Miami

"I visited the new neighborhood trattoria Bar Luca, recently opened in the historic Alden Hotel building in Miami Beach as a collaboration between Miami hospitality veteran Ken Ray and Boston-based Chapter One Hospitality. The kitchen is led by executive chef Santo Agnello, long-time chef at Lucali. Breakfast, served daily until 11:30 a.m., features sweet ricotta pancakes topped with whipped lemon ricotta butter and honey maple syrup and savory options like eggs purgatory—two poached eggs atop a spicy red sauce and creamy polenta, served with toast. At lunch I sampled crispy calamari with lemon garlic aioli and handhelds such as a fish filet sandwich with IPA-battered cod, pickled green tomato, lettuce, and red onion tartar sauce on a brioche bun, and a Miami-style Italian Cuban sandwich with porchetta, ham, mozzarella, pickles, mustard, and garlic aioli on Cuban bread. The bolognese grilled cheese, made with short rib bolognese, gruyere, and American cheese on brioche, is a standout. Dinner adds larger entrées like a 20oz prime bone-in ribeye and squid ink tonnarelli with mussels, calamari, shrimp, clams, and lobster in a spicy tomato seafood sauce. A daily happy hour from 4–7 p.m. offers food specials and discounted drinks. The design honors the building’s Art Deco architecture with classic Italian elements and modern touches, including a 55-seat patio overlooking Indian Creek, a 25-seat lobby, a 45-seat dining room with wooden tones, terracotta tiles, and leather and rattan accents, and an intimate bar area under a decorative wooden pergola. Bar Luca is open at 2925 Indian Creek Drive on Miami Beach from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sunday–Wednesday and until midnight Thursday–Saturday." - Olee Fowler

Our server, Lily, was absolutely wonderful attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The food was simply delicious, every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Wow! We had some lovely nights at Bar Luca! Situated in our hotel, we were directly appealed by the interior. It is so cosy, pretty and has a unique vintage look. The terrace is charming too! Tony is so kind and makes the best cocktails. All the products are from a great quality and taste like Italy. Angela took really good care of us and the restaurant. Now this is great food! My 2nd meal here and it was awesome. Quality, portions, balanced flavors, Very Good. Cod fish, fettuccine & side salad. Fettuccine was light, sauce was flavorful and light, pasta was fresh and well cooked. Cod was cooked well with delicious complex flavor. Simple side salad, thoughtful put together and very flesh.

I found Bar Luca on a random day, and let me say I'm glad that I did! While I went in with zero expectations for dinner I left with standard that I hope I find at other South Beach establishments. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Luckily when I was there they had a nice assortment of music playing- enough to catch the vibe but not loud enough to overpower a conversation. I might've even Shazam'd a few new favorite tunes. The food was delightful. Any food or drink recommendation from the chef down to a stranger is on point. Mostly because you can't miss with anything on the menu. My favorite was the gnocchi and specialty grilled cheese. (Spoiler alert I went back 2 days later). While the food is great and the atmosphere is delightful, what really shines is the staff and their service. They honestly made Bar Luca feel like a familiar place even though it was my first time. When you put all of these factors together, it's not hard to see why many people recommend Bar Luca. I'm almost positive you'll enjoy this gem as much as I did!

We walked in on a Tuesday night, not knowing what to expect. The restaurant is tucked in past a hotel lobby. It's located inside a hotel and offers both outdoor and indoors eating. After promptly being seated we were offered the menu and Happy Hour menu. We decided to order 4 dishes from the Happy Hoir menu. Everything ordered was delicious. The crispy calamari was super fresh. The chicken skewers had a lovely pesto sauce. the bruschetta was delightful with served with a healthy amount of burrata. But by far my favorite that we ordered was the Bolognese grilled cheese. It was very filling and had a great taste. The service here was also stand out. Every waiter or staff member we encountered was very pleasant and helpful. Overall, this is an amazing choice if you're in the area. And I think by far the best choice for a happy hour in the Miami Beach area. I definitely want to come back and try more dishes off the regular menu.

Stopped into Bar Luca for a quick bite to eat for dinner. I was in the area and walked in. They have tables set outside the hotel and inside the lobby is the indoor seating. It was pretty empty so I was a bit skeptical. As soon as all the plates would come by I would look at what was ordered and everything was served piping hot and fresh. I went with their short rib bolognese pasta dish and it was also served really hot, which is a big one for me. The dish was spectacular. I really enjoyed it. I was in a hurry so my dessert was a martini espresso with baileys. A cortadito with alcohol, if you will. Again really tasty. Everything was great and didn't break the bank too bad. I like the spot. Just feels like it needs more word of mouth or promotions. The bar is also very nice to come have a drink.

On a trip in Miami Beach and decided to stop here for happy hour on a whim. Was very pleasantly surprised! The food was great, and so were the drinks. The servers were very accommodating and nice too. A little quiet in there and the same song did play over and over for the 2/3 hours we spent there haha, but nonetheless would recommend!

So my wife and I stopped by to have a late night dinner here while staying in Miami for my birthday. We chose to dine outside even though it was pretty humid but it was a nice intimate setting that was candle lit. For the appetizer we got the calamari which was good but my only complaint was that their seemed to be more lettuce then calamari. For the entree I got the pappardelle pasta which was really good along with the meat sauce they use. My wife got the chicken churrasco which she enjoyed and had no complaints about. Our waiter was really helpful and personable and answered all our questions regarding the menu. This would be a 5 star review but took one star off only because of the miss with the appetizer. Other then that the food was delicious.

The happy hours is great. Chicken wings, calamari and bolognese grilled cheese were amazing. Cast iron chicken was really moist. Mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth. Service was friendly.

The vibe of this restaurant was super comfy cozy but also trendy. Mostly italian food but also had some great app options like brussels. The drink menu was different and unique with lots of different spritz options. Overall great spot for friend gathering, date night, or even a solo dinner

I really don't understand how this has such good reviews. 2 stars upfront for the very friendly staff, however the whole place had a really weird smell that was quite off putting and there was no one in the whole restaurant -- that should have been a sign to us to leave. The Mac and cheese with lobster was inedible. The Mac and cheese was fine, hard to get that wrong. But the "lobster" was overcooked and chewy. My friends pasta was watery. Avoid

We were having a going away party for a colleague and decided on Bar Luca due to the location and the hours that they have. We could not have made a better choice. The drinks and food were excellent but our server was even better. Lillian was amazing. We had over 15 people and she handled it beautifully. Their happy hours is definitely worth it. Everyone is still talking about it. I personally plan to have lunch there soon. Thanks Lillian for making this such a nice experience.

This unassuming place is so super yummy. We were the only ones there at 2:30 pm and had great service. Calamari was delectable, portobello sandwich was outstanding. The waitress recommended the Nutella French toast and the presentation was above and beyond. The French fries looked like they'd be amazing with a seasoning but were only ok as it was just parsley sprinkled on them. Nice portions, too. I'd return again & again!

I stayed at the Sonder Hotel and the receptionist recommended the restaurant and the bar in the hotel. I kinda rolled my eyes because most restaurants in Miami just aren't good and way overpriced. Bar Luca is very well priced but with better quality food and palatable creations. The ambiance and design is beautiful and quaint feeling. THE FOOD IS SPECTACULAR. The attention to detail, combinations of flavors, presentation, everything! I could have stayed all night trying things. I loved my drink too. I can totally recommend Bar Luca as I've pretty much eaten every where in Miami. The whole staff at the hotel is just fabulous too!

The food, beverages, and service are all top notch!!! The restaurant has a dim moody vibe to it that is further enhanced with little flame lanterns that don each table top as the evening progresses and the lights are dimmed. We enjoyed our meal of burrata salad, steak and chicken so much that we went back the next night for the same thing! I will also add that while it feels very upscale, we found Bar Luca's affordability very impressive.

Sooooo...thought we try a place off the beat and path. And WOW! We've discovered our new favorite place. we loved it so much we went back again the next day. The food is impeccable! The menu is exquisite and every waiter we've had couldn't have been more friendlier. The service is truly fantastic! Every dish recommended down to the dessert and wine was 5 stars! We sat outside and it very romantic and fun at the same time. You won't be disappointed. coming from a perfectionist! This place is pretty damn good.

Not one to give reviews but when a place delivers on food and service it should be recognized. I happen to be staying around the corner at the edition and found this place on line. They just opened in dec 2023 and the place is a hidden gem. I started off with the calamari and then had the gnocchi (amazing) i was going to pass on dessert but everything was so good. I was gonna go for the trifecta so i did and i was not disappointed the pistachio ricotta cheese cake had great texture and flavor.

Went last night for a combined anniversary and birthday celebration. The service was wonderful - every one of the servers was personable and pleasant, adding a friendly vibe to the evening. Inventive warm weather cocktails and reasonably priced wine. The food was very enjoyable. Not fancy but elevated with some whimsical touches. It's a bit out-of-the-way for a South Beach restaurant but well worth the trek - you won't be disappointed.

Charming place inside a small hotel. The drinks were excellent and so was the food. We loved the paparadelle and the chicken churrasco. The baked wings were also delicious. We went here for dinner before the Miami Half Marathon. Nice wine selection by the glass. Good menu. Staff was so nice, and we enjoyed the atmosphere and pretty bar.

So good! Great service, fantastic food! Our breakfasts of the poached egg purgatory over polenta was more like heaven than purgatory. I had the fresh detox juice .-Cappuccino and croissant earlier that morning were reasonable and delicious inspiring us to return for breakfast.

We are always on the lookout for a great breakfast and don't often find it. So I don't give five stars easily. Ricotta lemon pancakes - must have. Super delicious. Cooked perfectly. Perfectly fluffy. Right touch of lemon. And the ham and cheese omelette - also cooked perfectly. I don't typically like American cheese but it works. Very good. And they had gluten free toast and decaf coffee and oat milk. They had it all. Also had the bacon - thick and cooked well done like we like it.

Why they only have 1 review is beyond me. I travel a lot for work, and my business dinners have me eating at a lot of great restaurants. This is right up there with any of them. The prices are amazingly reasonable, including wine by the bottle and glass. The people are super friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The short rib Bolognese my wife ordered was insane and my steak was cooked perfectly. The only thing I could recommend, is warming the plates a little to keep the food a bit warmer, because it's so good you do not want to rush, and instead enjoy it over a longer period of time.

You can not call these kind of establishments 'neighborhood gem' if they are on South Beach.. every one is touristic unfortunately. If it were anywhere else definitely 'a neighborhood gem' . Food is good, -rib cheese sandwich was awesome ... place is simple but nice, service is great... two things to work on.. cocktails and prices... prices are not way too much but for a 'neighborhood 'place a bit above 'neighbors'

I never write reviews.. ever. But this one is warranted. The food was excellent and the service was the best we experienced in Miami during our visit. Our waitress was extremely attentive and went above and beyond during our meal to make sure we felt welcome with our toddler. The ricotta pancakes are a must.

A smaller dining room with a nice bar located in the lobby of the Sonder Hotel, Bar Luca offers a smallish menu, but the execution is great. We had the wedge salad (big enough to share), Pappardelle Bolognese, and the Cast Iron Chicken. Everything was fantastic. The cocktails were some of the best we had visiting Miami. The service was a little disconnected because the staff (and dining room) are pretty new, but the effort and desire to give a great experience were there. They just need a little more time to work out the kinks. (Note the map showed the restaurant on the wrong side of the street, it's not on the riverbanks, it's in the hotel.)
