Google
A burger shop/pub that feels like hidden in a deep corner in the city. The bar doesn't have much sunlight so the interior could feel dark without natural lighting. Seems to be a popular spot amongst locals. Due to the lack of natural light, wouldn't be my favourite. But the food was good and most importantly the staff's personality and service was amazing. So friendly staff with can-do/will-do mindset for the customers. The friendly staff absolutely won my heart. Thanks for your friendly service 😄

Google
This is definitely a popular bar restaurant in the area, and I can attest to the validity of all the good reviews. Ordered the Burger Special of the week, and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion and great taste! The fried chicken patty was thick, crispy on the outside, and perfectly juicy inside. Also added $3 for the slaw, and that portion was equally surprising, in a good way! The staff are chill and attentive, which adds to the great vibe. Given the quality, I think the price is very reasonable, especially considering it’s located right in the CBD.

Google
Bar Luca at Circular Quay is a solid choice for a great burger in a prime location. The burgers are juicy, well-flavoured, and definitely live up to the hype. The atmosphere is lively and casual, making it a good spot to drop in after a walk around the harbour. Service was friendly, though it can get a bit busy during peak times. Overall, really good food and vibe just a little crowded at times. Would still happily return. 🍔👌

Google
Generally a pretty pleasant experience food came out fast, drinks were cold, bartenders were knowledgeable. But some of the food could have the portion size a little bit larger such as the chicken that doesn't quite fit the bun, a personal pet peeve. But big kudos on super creative menu creations such as the Gucci jang sandwich and the tandoori loaded fries. Definitely enjoyable, relatively Fair prices, it hits the mark for largely what you expect

Google
One of the best specially burger place in the city. Definitely coming back for the variety of burgers. I got the Mr Truffle. The smell and truffle flavour isn't too strong just right. We got onion rings, poutine, and cauliflower bites. Onion rings where not crunchy enough but were flavourful. Cauliflower were a bit soggy but the sauce was great 👌and last was poutine was hands down the best side 💯 recommended.

Google
My friends unironcially gave me the nickname "burger" - because I love burgers so much. Burgers are my comfort, my salvation. I. Love. Burgers. I ordered the "blame Canada" with fries (extra $4 - which is reasonable) What usually takes me 30 seconds to enhale took me 30 minutes. I've never had to deny myself without force. This was the best burger I've ever had in my life. Even the fries were perfectly weighted in size and seasoning. I'm in disbelief.

Google
Tried Bar Luca recently — I had the Blame Canada (beef patty, American cheese, maple glazed streaky bacon, maple aioli & poutine). It was nice and definitely different, though a little on the sweet side for my taste. My husband went with the weekly Burger Special, but he thought it tasted like a regular burger and nothing too unique. Overall, still a good experience and worth trying for something different.

Google
Burgers are great! Very busy. Staff tries hard to accomodate, but system needs to be more organized. We were sat on 2 different seats to accomodate and were told to be out by a certain time. Which was fair. But other patrons with no bookings who came later, didnt have to move. No biggie, just wouldve been nice not to have moved. Burgers were solid! Great to experience them. Drinks were great too! Staff were also very nice throughout.

Yelp
Extremely delayed review I've uncovered my lack of reviewing because my sister is currently in sydney and I needed to send her a recommendation I came here with a group of friends. It's an American style burger restaurant diner. My buddy ordered the Trump burger with milkshake and said it was the best burger ever. He's actually returned multiple times since our visit probably eight years ago. I ordered a happy meal. An adult happy meal to be specific. This place is fabulously decorated fabulous vibe, great tasting food. And the menu warms my heart. It's a must try please go

Yelp
This is a very energetic spot near circular Quay in Sydney. We had the poutine, peri peri wings and a strawberry milkshake. You order via QR code unless you have an international number then you go to the counter. The food was good bar food and the service was prompt. For a quick bite and a pint it's a great spot.

Yelp
This place is much bigger than I thought. It's got a pretty cool vibe. We had no reservation but they got us a table in the back right away. We ordered some dishes from the weekly special menu. The Prince of Darkness was huge. There were loaded with bacon, beef patty and a chicken wing on top. It was delicious. I also had Loaded Fries. They were scrumptious, especially with laksa sauce. You should def try it! The Mac n cheese hit the spot on a rainy day as well. The Oreo milkshake was ok as it's got a lot of whipped cream, not a lot of milkshake. Overall, our experience was great.

Yelp
We tried this place on a whim based on local recommendations and it did not disappoint! Although its name has the word "Bar", there is plenty of tables and booth for eating too. We didn't have a reservation but got there a few minutes after they opened and sat at the bar. The burger options were excellent and there went plenty of add ons too. Meat was fresh, juicy and flavorful. Fries had good flavor, but wouldn't add them again knowing how delicious and filling the burger was on its own. Will dream about these burgers when we're back in the USA.

Yelp
Wow. All I have too say is wow, the food was beautiful and looked super appetising. And the service was NEXT level, they were so polite and very patient, 100% recommend (except the sweet young boy who served me and my husband, had quite a hairy nose).

Link U.

Yelp
The environment is quite nice, and the staff attitude is pretty good too. The beef burger and chicken burger both tasted decent, but the fries were a bit salty. No service charge--big plus! Overall, it was a fairly satisfying dining experience.
google avatar

Yelp
The chicken sandwich and fries were amazing! Service was friendly, and we were able to get seated and get our food quickly.
google avatar

Garry K.

Yelp
Burgers came quickly and were quite tasty. The BL sauce was tangy and flavorful. The onion rings had a seasoned batter that was delicious. You order via QR code or at the counter and they bring your food. We tried it on a whim and were very happy with our choice. The only caveat is that they only let you have a table for an hour at peak times, but the service is fast so it generally isn't a problem.

Yelp
Food is A1 ! Sooo good. I had a vegan burger and it was amazing. Fries are seasoned to perfection. My favorite was the appetizer. The Sriracha and maple glaze cauliflower. amazing. I went twice in a 24 hr span. Waiter was very friendly too. Great margaritas. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Despite being called a bar, this place actually feels much more like a restaurant. Mind you, they do have stools at the bar, and I was able to come in just for a beer, so I guess that is okay. However, this place certainly does get pretty packed, and it isn't always open, so coming here for a quiet drink can be a little difficult at times. Yeah, I really wasn't all that impressed with this place either, but I guess it had a lot to do with it always being packed, which isn't quite a bad thing for the bar itself.
google avatar

Winnie C.

Yelp
Food: we ordered Blame Canada and BL chicken - both extremely salty and saucy to the extent that it covered up the flavor of everything else...Also, the excessive amount of sauce ruined the crispness of the chicken and also made the buns soggy. The poutine was also salty but not crispy enough so basically skipped it... Service: our burgurs were brought to us quickly but mainly becuz we arrived early after reading the reviews. The place got packed with ppl working in the area soon after. We didn't have a server so food needs to be ordered at the bar and it could take a while defending on how busy they are. So not hard to imagin we never got a water refill or got asked how our food was. Overall, our worst food experience in Australia so far.

Yelp
There are some days in your life when are just craving a good burger. This is the spot you need to go when you get that craving. There are so many burger options and so many different toppings you can add on to any of their burgers. The burger was delicious and also got some buffalo chicken fries that were nothing short of incredible. They have adult happy meals that are a great way to try many different options on the menu. Just be sure to show up hungry!

Yelp
Strangely busy for a Monday night. The main reason I why I go out on a weekday is to avoid crowded places. In my mind the fact that this place was packed on a Monday had to mean that it had to have some great appeal. Indoor and outdoor table seating. A waitress will show you to a table, and when you're ready you order at the bar. Despite only having three wait staff on hand they managed to crank it out. The food came out in around ten minutes. That to me it was some form of miracle work done in the kitchen. I was recommended the Blame Canada burger, side of fries is an extra $3. The smokiness of the beef pattie and the sweetness of the maple glazed streaky bacon created a perfected synergy of... well, sweet and smokey. The shoestring fries were enjoyable with the added herb. My mate ordered the Mac N Cheese. It sure smelt enticing and with truffle oil, garlic panko crumb and parmesan cheese I'm sure it would go down a treat. Staff were very friendly and looked after us well. Dishes and glasses where collected promptly. The best chill out vibe for a night out with friends. One of the best burgers I've had in Sydney. I will not be able to resist coming here again.

Yelp
This place offers delicious lamb ribs and good fries. We wondered the street of Sydney for a while before deciding to come here for a good lunch. We are travelers, just finished touring around the circular quay. We were tired and starving, but was not satisfied for street basics. We came to Bar Luca, that caught our eyes. The place is a little dark with bars, bouillon machines and gambling desk at the back. We order a bunch of lamb ribs, wings, fries and burgers. The ribs are my favorite. The sauce had a dark Charcoal flavor of BBQ sauce, and something like coffee. The meats falls from the bone and melts in our mouths. We simply could get enough of one order. The fries are covered with so much garlic and cheese, baked and freshly fried. We are very satisfied with our food in this bar. Sitting next to us was two business suit men, who might happen to come here often for lunch. This is a local favorite and one of our favorite bar in Sydney.

Yelp
Super burgers and the Space Jam cocktail with Archie Rose gin, cranberry jam, fresh lime, mint and cucumber was super tart. Loved it. The only downside is the noise level. I'll be back if only for the poutine with maple aioli!
google avatar

Natasha C.

Yelp
Burger lovers rejoice, BL has come of the best burgers you can buy. Gone are the days of just a plain patty with cheese and lettuce. The chickpea and Kuma burger is the best vego burger I have ever had in my entire life. Just words can not describe the complete enjoyment I get when I eat this burger. Spicy aioli tops it off perfectly, plus you can add a deep fried cheese patty. Best thing is you can get it delivered to your house if you live in bondi so you can enjoy devouring heaven in peace with no judgement as sauce covers your face. For the size and taste the price is extremely reasonable.
google avatar

Tracy Y.

Yelp
We wanted to have burgers one night and thought this would be a decent place to try. We had the classic cheese and the mr truffle. The burgers were just okay. The patties didn't seem to have much flavor and were too well done for our liking.
google avatar

Yelp
Menu winner is the Blame Canada burger. Prepare for a wait for a table of your group is 2+. Accepts Amex, Visa and MasterCard.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't think I can ever have another burger ever again just because the Blame Canada here was so amazing that nothing will be as good. So I'm blaming Bar Luca for turning me off my local burger place damn it! Honestly, as soon as the burger came out I already knew I'd love it. Melting cheese, dripping sauce, beautiful patty, nice bun. And I wasn't wrong. I was actually in food heaven eating that burger I swear - couldn't even finish my conversation because I was too busy stuffing my face with my burger. The sauce went all over my face and it was an incredibly messy meal but so worth it. If you want an amazing burger place, this is the place to go. Next time I'm going to try their chicken burgers too because my friends ordered those and loved them too.
google avatar

Yelp
If you are looking for decadent, deluxe burgers and saucy wings then this is your new Mecca. Order the Blame Canada burger, because pure pressure is a thing and everyone's doing it but also because it's the best tasting thing you may ever have. This burger has a layer of poutine and I could stop there and it would be enough but then there is maple glazed streaky bacon, a wagyu beef patty and cheese...close your eyes...it's a transformative experience. The wings are also amazing with a great zesty BBQ sauce. Will you clog your arteries? Yes but heck, blame Canada! Although as a Canadian I think it should be called the Thank Canada...so you're welcome on behalf of my country. It's pretty busy and the ambiance, service and bathrooms are average but you won't care. You can make a booking if you think ahead!
google avatar

Nathan G.

Yelp
The wife and I were in Sydney on holiday and needed to try this place out. It was so good we went twice, and each ordered the same thing - why mess with what works?! She had some awesome double chicken deal and I had the Blame Canada. I'd blame Canada but they don't deserve the credit. This place rocks, just plan on a big wait list on Fridays and weekends.
google avatar

Yelp
I used to drink here when I worked as a young Mad Men-esque pup up on Macquarie St. I was a Pete Campbell type - slick. Slimy. Brylcreemed. Which probably explains why I liked Luca so much. Revisited it last night after a decade away and it was like slipping back into a comfortable pair of socks. I kind of miss having locals to go to for work now that I'm not in the CBD anymore. Does $5 pints (!) of Pure Blonde and Carlton during happy hour. What a deal!
google avatar

Krystal N.

Yelp
Sizzle your evening at the rejuvenated space with a bistro/diner feel, ideal for groups and satisfying your burger munchies. The festive Viva La France burger created especially for Bastille Day was quite tasty although the soft brioche bun which was a little overpowering in comparison to the amount of filling including a wagyu pattie, roast portebella mushroom, vintage cheese, french onion aioli, bacon and topped with a cheese beinget popper. It's also a good idea to choose sides such as crispy fried chicken and shoestring fries of course!
google avatar

Ruby Y.

Yelp
BURGERS! Bar Luca has absolutely insane burgers and are definitely worth a visit if you're on the prowl for a good one. I suggest the Blame Canada burger. The onion rings were a little greasy, but the shoestring fries were also tasty. But you must, must, MUST try a burger or two. The chicken karaage burger came out with a huge tan and I thought it might've been burnt, but it wasn't...tasted greaaaaaatttttttt.
google avatar

Mei Z.

Yelp
Blame Canada burger was great but a tad bit too salty. Loved the contrast in textures though, and overall, the setting was lively but not too loud for a Friday night. Would recommend to someone visiting.
google avatar

Howard C.

Yelp
I was worried about the hype of this place since a lot of FBAS members swear by it, have to say while it's no unicorn they do pretty good burgers here. I had their special More Chilli and part of the Blame Canada, can say that while their bun looks dry it's anything but. Cheese is good, toppings are good, and bun went well. Downsides for me are the beef patty, it's not really seasoned, but at least it was tender. Pretty good all around burgers here, but I can't say I get the OMG feeling from them.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Have heard good things about the burgers here! Arrived around 9pm and was told kitchen was closed! Noooooo! The lovely bartender took pity on us and said if we ordered right then and there it should be ok! Of course we picked the most delicious thing on the menu! Blame Canada is 200g of wagyu patty, American cheddar cheese, maple glazed streaky bacon, poutine and maple aioli!! Holy Fricken Moly!! This shiz is one of the best burgers I've ever had! (Insert joke ) The beef was so juicy, the cheese gooey and that sauce! Hot dam I was in burger heaven! Soo savoury with a hint of sweet! This burger is at the top my list! (Prob better than Mary's! Gasp!) Blame Canada and Bar Luca you have top shelf on my food mantlepiece!

Yelp
On our trip to Sydney we decided to check out some of the venues that we had seen a lot of hype about on Instagram. One of them was Bar Luca, which is located in the city. It is easily accessible by public transport which was really great for us. The venue overall was set up nicely. It had a cool and laid-back atmosphere despite the fact that it was bustling with people as we went around lunch time. It is a place where you could go for a meal, for drinks with mates or for both. We paid at the bar and then took a seat and waited for our burgers and milkshakes. The shakes came out first - we ordered one chocolate and the other strawberry. Both looked really adorable and decadent and were topped with whipped cream, a maraschino cherry and syrup. They were tasty and accompanied the burgers well. The burgers came out shortly after, so the service was pretty quick for us. The BL Beef Burger (which we both ordered with added onion rings) is by far one of the best burgers we have ever had - and we still reminisce about it pretty regularly. The bun was so light and soft which made eating the burger a lot easier. The patty was cooked to a soft pink, making it really juicy and tender. Bacon and cheese is always a nice combination on a burger, as well as tomato and lettuce. The sauces together mixed really well - and all the ingredients just complemented each other perfectly. The addition of the onion rings made the burger even more incredible. They were hot, crispy and seasoned really well. The only thing we regret is not getting an entire side of onion rings to go with it.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Good venue, really friendly service. The burgers are nice, and the lamb ribs are good too. Had the Blame Canada burger, but I wasn't a fan. Bacon was too sweet, and the poutine (which I normally love) didn't add much to the flavour or texture of the burger. Still I don't want to downrate just because of my personal taste, I will revisit and try a different burger. Staff are lovely, and the venue itself is quite nice. Lamb ribs and fries are good, but expect to get messy!
google avatar

Kaylie M.

Yelp
I visited Sydney for 5 days and went to Bar Luca for dinner 3 different nights. Estimated wait time was around 45 minutes but ended up only being 5. Service was great and the staff was very friendly. Food was really good and I am sad I can't go back unless I visit Australia again. Between the three nights I got buffalo wings (were really hot), fried chicken burger with bacon, fries, and an oreo milkshake. Would highly recommend the chicken burger. My friends and I are still talking about Bar Luca.
google avatar

Grace S.

Yelp
Great variety of burgers. Tried the fried chicken burger and it's pretty darn good (a little too oily though). I love how fast the service is...despite a full house during lunch time, we got our burgers within 10 mins after ordering. I will definitely be back to try other burgers!
google avatar

Kellie R.

Yelp
Bar Luca was our first restaurant when visiting Sydney. We could tell that this place was a local favorite because it was CROWDED and loud. We did takeaway and only waited about 15 minutes which was nice. The food was rather pricey but it was good! We ordered the Bomb Frites (they were ok, I wasn't crazy about the sauce), BL Beef with macaroni and cheese (SO GOOD), and the Classic Cheese with macaroni and cheese and a fried egg (phenomenal). Altogether was about $50aus which is a bit pricey for hamburgers and fries but the hamburgers were great!
google avatar

Lindsey M.

Yelp
Good fast and cheap.. the rule of thumb is pick 2. This place has all 3 great burgers, fast and relatively inexpensive. I ordered a cheese burger on lettuce bun with pickles, onion and truffle mayo + fried + bbq wings. Everything was amazing! This place is always packed, the food and service explains it all.
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
Bar Luca should be on everyone's "must try" list - at least those people who are serious about good burgers. Tip: Don't even THINK about coming here on Fridays; on other days, it's best to come after 1pm Their printed menu has half a dozen different burgers. My favorites from the menu are the Chicken Karaage burger and the Blame Canada burger. Hacks or Extras can be added to any burger; Crunchy Peanut Butter is also a nice touch :-) The prices here are in the vicinity of $15; the value proposition is pretty good. As burger places go, I highly recommend this one!
google avatar

Tauseef M.

Yelp
We can here to start a bucks night and the place didn't disappoint. The bar had a good range of local and imported beers on tap, but more importantly the burgers were massive. Don't let first impressions fool you, these things are massive filling. Of note the wings were awesome and the maple aoli is definitely worth trying.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
Great burgers, good atmosphere. I had the Blame Canada and shoestring fries. Excellent! Plate was full of fries and although I steer away from fried food these days this was an exception and my indulgence was rewarded. Burger was prepared well, bun was fresh, bacon was.... b.a.c.o.n. They had me at bacon. IDK why we're blaming Canada but I'll jump on that bandwagon and I'll be back to blame the Canucks another day, "eh"!
google avatar

Graciana K.

Yelp
Very Very busy restaurant but it's worth it for sure! Fatty and juicy burger where you can add a variety of item! Maybe it's not my favorite but you have to try it once!
google avatar

Lucas G.

Yelp
My favorite burger spot in Sydney, hands down. Weekly specials with a great assortment on the standard menu. Good environment and friendly staff. Perfect spot to check out for burgers and beer.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Burger was burnt, definitely not red in middle like they say. Bun was stale. Just not worth the visit.
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
Bar Luca's Blame Canada is the best burger in Sydney. Also, it is probably the best burger I have ever had. The maple aioli is like nothing I've ever had before but the fundamentals of the burger are also done so well. Really cool vibe with great music as well as some solid beers available. Service does need improvement.
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
Trendy crowd, decent ambiance, but loud music. Food portions were crazy huge. Shared the poutine with my husband and we couldn't finish it. The chicken burger was delicious and the milkshakes were top notch.
google avatar

Ritza A.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night and the wait wasn't bad. The poutine fries were great! Definitely a good location for reasonably priced drinks and food in the cbd.
google avatar

Yelp
After hearing all the foodies out there proclaim that the Blame Canada is the saviour of all burger sins made by mankind, it was time for me to finally submit and join the religion. The place was packed out on a Tuesday night - it was a 30 minute wait for a table, but we were able to order drinks from the bar during the wait so at least we could line our bellies with alcohol. The burgers came out super quick and they looked beastly. The maple bacon and aioli had a good balance of salty and sweet, and the soft buns successfully held everything together. The poutine was the highlight - the fact that the fries stayed crispy after being doused in gravy and cheese sauce, that's some kind of magic. My one and only gripe was that the patty was overcooked. It was slightly dry and burnt on the sides, with no pink in sight. I guess it wasn't specified that the patty was be to cooked medium-rare on the menu, but I generally thought that was the standard across burger joints.. Just a little less time on the grill and I would've given it a 5! But, I'm determined to come back to I'll give it another go and I will pray that the Blame Canada will redeem itself.

Yelp
This place is fantastic.. the signature burger "Blame Canada" is amazing, very tasty. Don't think I've ever had a burger with wagyu beef, smokey bacon, maple syrup and aoili all in one. This is the best burger I've had in Sydney to date, truly outstanding - succulent, filling and visually all going on. My associate had the chickpea and kumera burger. Not sure why you would do that when there are clearly some outstanding meat burgers on this menu, and he's not even vegetarian.. Anyways, despite whatever issues he's dealing with in his life at the moment, he said it was also an exceptional burger. Bar Luca has got a great city bar vibe with an excellent range of beers on tap to make the burger even better. With a killer burger, tap beer absolutely beats bottle or can beer hands down, so it's a very nice touch. "Blame Canada" is spot on with a Stone and Wood Pacific Ale. Bar Luca can get packed pretty easily due to popularity, so if you don't have a reservation best to get in early at lunch time. I would have given Bar Luca an easy 5 stars but the fries were a bit of a let down. They were shoestring fries but were just a little too thin and light. I reckon these burgers would be perfect with old school crinkle cut fries to soak up all the awesome maple syrup and aioli. The shoestring fries felt like more of an afterthought rather than a solid complement to a solid burger. Other than that, a great spot for a fantastic burger in a part of town you wouldn't expect. Very much recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
Burgers here are amazing!!! I had the Blame Canada with a side of fries. I probably didn't need the extra fries considering there were fries already in the burger. It was my first time tasting maple glazed bacon. Wow it was delicious. The Blame Canada was a very indulgent burger and I just want more of that tasty bacon. Decor of the restaurant is very hip and music maybe slightly loud for a business lunch. The Olympic swimming was also on in the background which was great. Definitely will be back for more.

Emma S.

Yelp
BEST. BURGER. EVER. stopped by Bar Luca after seeing amazing yelp reviews before going to the museum of sydney; it's right across the street. so many amazing add-ons- i got a fried mozzarella patty added. the fries were so flavorful too. and don't pass up the milkshakes...they're the perfect consistency and the strawberry flavor was amazing!

Eater X.

Yelp
Blame Canada burger: wagyu beef, poutine, maple bacon, maple aioli. "Why wouldn't all that maple make it pretty sweet?" said the voice inside my head. I really should listen to that voice more often, but there was a louder voice booming "BUT ITS CANADA LIKE YOU!!!" while playing the South Park song in the background. And that voice won. That voice always wins. I added on chips and 3 chicken wings for $6. Because when given the option to "add on" wings, you should always take it. That type of offering needs to be encouraged. And the wings were pretty good. No sauce (although I saw some bottles I could have grabbed), but nicely seasoned. More of a dry crumb than American style, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Atmosphere is loud. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you wanted to hold a conversation with your date. Beer selection is a couple notches above average with some Stone & Wood mixed in with the Fat Yak. Bar Luca is worth checking out, but you don't need me to tell you that - you won't be able to resist being drawn in by the mouth watering smoke wafting out onto the street.

Yelp
We ordered the all famous "Blame Canada Burger," and it was pretty delicious! Maple bacon and all! The reason I rated it a 3 star is because: They replace the ketchup in the Heinz bottle with their own made concoction, that was actually super gross, not even edible. Also we ordered the "grilled corn" for our vegan friend all it said on the menu was grilled corn, and it came lathered in cheese and chipotle mayo, while it was good, our friend could not eat any of it.
