Bar Luz - Review - Outremont - Montreal - The Infatuation
"This newly opened fonda fina is the sister spot toAlma: a moody Mexico City-inspired wine and mezcal bar in the front, with a molino producing nixtamalized corn tortillas in the back. Come here for an early evening michelada (with Luz’s own clamato) and a caviar-topped scallop tostada, or with tacos fashioned from Chef Juan’s grandmother’s tortilla press—we’re especially keen on the Québec duck carnitas. Grilled fish a la plancha, with salsas and mixed blue and yellow corn mini-tortillas, is the perfect dish for sharing, followed by the classic churros or rice pudding for dessert. Bar Luz’s wine list features house-imported low-intervention wines from Catalonia, coastal Spain, and Québec’s own unsung vineyards. From May to October, Luz does weekend afternoontaco pop-upsin the back garden—they’re legendary, especially when cochinita pibil is on the menu." - Ivy Lerner-Frank
Lives up to the Alma name! How could it not when it shares the same kitchen space?! Generous portions, creative dishes and presentation, perfectly grilled proteins, amazing flavours.

Blown away. Just exceptional in every way, and something different for a city with an incredible amount of exceptional dining. We loved every bite, and I woke of thinking about the rice pudding the next morning. Can’t wait to return.

Ridiculously overpriced tacos. I went a few weeks ago and almost had to laugh when they confirmed it was $15 PER taco! I only stayed and ate because we came all the way from the other side of town. While the tacos tasted good, I can easily get the same or better at La Capital Tacos or Tin Tan for a third of the price. I appreciate their effort here but those prices are just outrageous.

Quelle belle soirée. Personnel très sympathique. Connaissent bien le menu et leurs vins. Belles découvertes catalanes.
