The Taco Stand Arrives on Convoy’s Asian Food Corridor | Eater San Diego

"I've learned that half of the 1,800-square-foot space is being dedicated to an intimate, 30-seat cocktail bar called the Convoy Music Bar, which will open in February. Described as a laid-back hangout inspired by Tokyo’s listening bar culture, it will feature a custom sound system from Japan and a drink list created by a bartender from a well-known cocktail spot in Tokyo’s Shibuya neighborhood." - Candice Woo

Didn’t expect to find a bar like this on the 5th floor. The place has a great vibe with an impressive vinyl and CD collection, and they even sell some of them. The playlist was excellent, and loved the warm and vintage sound system. The cocktails were good, and they have a wide selection of bottles to choose from. Overall, a really nice spot to relax, enjoy good music, and soak in the atmosphere.

What a fantastic experience. The vibe was immaculate and the bar was clean with good service. The owner/DJ’s song picks were an eclectic and tasteful mix of jazz, soul, contemporary indie, Brazilian samba, and world music. Anticipating the direction the DJ was going to take with each song pick was like driving down a sunset boulevard, knowing that whatever is coming next is going to be nothing but beautiful. There are about 14 seats in the bar and it filled up by around 9pm on a weeknight and there was a line of about 6 people when I left. Yes there is a 1000$ service charge, but that’s about 7$ you’re paying to help support a precious tradition and subculture within Tokyo.

Nice, cozy spot on the 5F spinning pleasant vinyls on a weeknight. Drinks were solid, but not necessarily the best I've ever had. They might even be a bit pricey compared to the usual cost of things around here. Our server was very kind, though, which was great. PSA: there was a cover of ¥1,000 per person -- The key factor that caught us a bit off-guard (but completely understand) is that they charged us a ¥1,000 cover per person which wasn't clearly communicated - it was just a note on the menu. What was a bit more off-putting was the fact that we were handed one set of menus for our table, before then being given different ones... come to realize the first had a cover of ¥700 written, whereas the new set given had the higher cover price of ¥1000.

When we wanted to pay, they told us cash only. The DJ/manager told us rudely to “just leave”, showing a complete lack of respect and decency. We ended up paying him in EUR, which he happily accepted. Very sad for a place with great music and whisky to treat tourists with such a lack of respect and honor. I assume the DJ/manager’s culture does not value guests. What a shame for his beautiful and guest friendly country.

You go to music bar to listen to some good music! This is it. Is cosy little place. When it gets too busy service become slow. Little odd the cover you have to pay to get in, no other vinyl bar ask for it, but is not too high so never mind (1000yen per person). Drinks are little overpriced for the same kind of music places in the area. Audio system is worth to be listened: very interesting AcousticResearch loudspeaker play together with unusual JBL 4318. They are well powered by BGW 6000-7500 pro. Vinyl play on Technics 1210 MK3. Ortophone cartridges. Good sound in total.

If I could give them minus I would. We went in for one drink, we were told one drink per person, which alright no problem. Only for them to spring on us that we need to pay a cover fee of 1000 yen each. We were not told this in the beginning and now we have a bill of 4000 yen for 2 drinks and 5 mins. The only reason we popped in was because the downstairs bar is a cigar bar. The service were unapologetic and basically said tough. If we had known we wouldn’t have come in. They should make it clear beforehand.

The bartender was rude, the cover was unacceptable at 1000yen per person. The overall energy of the bar was just depressing. The bartender "greeted" us at the door by seeming unhappy to see our group of 6 and after making us wait outside for a brief moment she made sure no one else would come in after us. Every drink (except for the overpriced draft beer) was so bad we wondered if this was to encourage us to leave sooner. (it worked) If feel like this review may actually be doing them a favor because they don't seem to want any foreigners/tourists there. Oh and of course the horrible drinks were the most expensive we had in Tokyo.

spent NYE here, vibes were amazing and music selection is nice to my taste. The bar opened past 12 to celebrate new years gave us free confetti poppers for a small but heart warming celebration. Thanks!! :-)
