"The modern izakaya-style Bar Nohm in Salt Lake City’s Central 9th neighborhood pays homage to Japanese and Korean drinking culture with a menu of creative bites and extensive beverage offerings. Under the direction of chef David Chon — a 2024 James Beard semifinalist who draws inspiration from his South Korean upbringing and global culinary travels — the menu changes daily to feature fresh, locally available ingredients. Highlights include a pork omelet with tofu cream and a spicy cucumber salad with squid, mushrooms, and mung bean noodles, along with playful cocktails like the Pompoco-Loco (soju, rye, and miso gardenia) served in a keepsake mug. With a connecting door to its sibling bar, Water Witch, Bar Nohm creates a lively, communal dining experience that celebrates traditional flavors and cross-cultural influences." - Sarah Entwistle

As an Asian living in California, I’ve tried countless Asian bar/restaurant. I’m happy to report this is my recent favorite! Food, cocktail, vibe and service are all probably the best I’ve had recently. We can’t stop nodding and praising! Food we ordered: oden, sesame noodles, pork omelette, karaage, fried tofu, cucumber salad, and couple skewers. I would give all of them 5 stars except fried tofu (just because the sauce a bit too sour and sweet for me but the breading of the tofu is VERY good). It’s authentic but with fusion twist (like combining different Asian cuisines together). We are more and more amazed dish by dish. Cocktails we ordered: agent cooper, liquid fedora, double shochu please and leather spacesuit. You can def tell the details in these cocktails. All of them are well balanced and each components are well mixed. This will be our new go-to place whenever we are in SLC! (Photos don’t do the justice)

If you’re looking for a spot that delivers both flavor and atmosphere, this place nails it. The Japanese-inspired tapas and shareables are a standout—thoughtfully plated, packed with flavor, and perfect for mixing and matching with friends. Each dish is a little adventure, creative small plates that go way beyond the basics. We tried a few of the skewers, including the chicken hearts. A must try! There’s a great balance of classic cocktails, spirits, and house creations that pair beautifully with the food. Great location in the gayborhood - Located in the gay district on Harvey Milk Street.

Landed here on our first night and Utah and so glad that we did! We didn't have reservations and only waited around 15 minutes, and we're able to sit on the patio and enjoy the perfect weather! The vibe was incredible, and the energy was high. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and patient and took the time to explain all the drinks and tell us some of her favorite entrees.

Google
Bar Nohm is a standout in SLC—the only spot doing truly authentic yakitori, and they do it well. The skewers were cooked over proper binchotan charcoal, and you can taste the difference in every smoky, tender bite. The cocktails were excellent, especially the highball, which was super clean and refreshing. I also really enjoyed the Korean-influenced appetizers—thoughtful, well-executed, and full of flavor. The vibe is modern and intimate, and they do check IDs at the door, so bring one even if you’re just there for the food. Overall, a really solid dining experience—great for a night out if you’re looking for quality food, good drinks, and something different in SLC.

Google
Truly a gem in SLC with unique and delicious food! Highly recommend the sesame noodles, the pork omelette, the skewers and the karaage chicken. The cocktails are very creative and yum too!

Ashley was our server and she was great. Food was good. We got the cucumber salad, skewers and noodles and beef.

Google
Big fan of this place! Their cocktail menu is well thought out. Staff was amazing and the fried rice and skewers were on point... Get the fried chicken skin and get the hot sauce! It's worth it. I'll be back.

Service was great and fast. Server was helpful and explained all dishes. Cocktails were interesting tried the kiwi kowboi and agent cooper. I don’t feel like they really paired with the food though. Highly recommend the sesame noodle and the karrage. I would order that sesame noodle again and again and only tell people I really love about it. The dessert was incredible would order that again had complex flavors and textures. Spent $135 for two people on seven dishes, and two cocktails.

Yelp
What a gem of creativity. Ambiance: Ambient bar what lots of different seatings. Nice, intimate place for a date night! Service: Quick and efficient. Food: Got the kaarage and skewers along with a couple of drinks. I didn't realize the menu was a rotating menu but was pleasantly surprised by the continued creativity in drinks and food. The kaarage was nice and crispy and well cooked and the skewers were fantastic as always. It's the one thing off the menu that hasn't changed and I am so grateful for it! Overall, great place for some vibes and the skewers are phenomenal!!

Yelp
A very well deserved 5 stars and updated review. Bar Nohm has only gotten better and better, and has become a top-3-in-Utah spot for my boyfriend and I. We come here at least twice a month if not more often because we always crave their food and amazing cocktails. I tell all my friends that Bar Nohm has the best cocktail program in Utah, and is always raising the bar (literally). The prices are reasonable, the food portions are great, and their creativity keeps us on our toes. When we have friends visiting from out of town we always like to bring them here and they always get impressed. The ambiance is so dang cool. Think part tiki bar and part izakaya with some really cool vibes. The artwork and decor is so unique and we just love spending time here. The service is top notch as well-- big shout out to Clif who is incredible. My boyfriend and I are so happy whenever we get to be served by Clif as he is so great to chat with, is so knowledgeable and involved with everything at the restaurant, and makes us feel like we are family at Bar Nohm. Get the spicy baby octopus, pork omelette, sashimi dishes, sesame noodles, and any of their cocktails. Chat with your waiter if you're not sure about something because they will explain it well; they are all so passionate. Seriously-- one of the very best spots in Utah!

Yelp
Bar Nohm is a trendy Korean/Japanese izakaya that is perfect for quick bites and drinks during a GNO or post-work hangout but don't expect to get full off their tapas and skewers, which are all tasty but not really appropriate for a complete meal. I came here mainly to try the bossam, intrigued by the fact that it was being offered as a small plate. I love this dish and unfortunately am often deterred from ordering it at Korean restaurants because of the massive portion size but here it's offered as a small plate perfect for one. Unfortunately, they no longer had the pork bossam on the menu but the beef ssam didn't disappoint. The beef belly was fatty and flavorful and paired well with a bold daikon salad tossed in ssamjang, though I felt the leafy greens were a little lacking in quantity. We also had the asian pear salad and spicy baby octopus, which were both very flavorful - though be warned that the latter is a tad on the spicier side if you're not accustomed to a baseline Asian level of heat. Skewers were also yummy-- if you have to pick just one, I would recommend the skirt steak as my favorite for its texture and flavor. We actually didn't order any drinks here since we already had plans to post-game at Bodega & the Rest nearby (review to come) but they have a multitude of intriguing and artfully presented craft cocktails that seem worth trying. On the off chance that none of their creative concoctions peak your fancy, head to Water Witch (their sister cocktail bar) just next door. Between 2 of us, we spent over $80 (without drinks) and left feeling like we each could have another entree so overall a really great place to check out with friends for a casual hang out with fun drink options but definitely beware of coming on a completely empty stomach unless you're willing to spend a good amount!

Yelp
Amazing! We didn't know it was more of a bar than restaurant haha so we made a dinner reservation because we heard the food was really good. The food was amazing- but looks like they have a rotating or seasonal menu. The prices are high so we definitely didn't get full but it was still worth it! the fried rice was amazing! and the bo ssam was our favorite. Drinks were also great, very unique and tasty! Of course also had simple drinks.

Yelp
Hot spot in the Central 9th neighborhood!!! Bar Nohm was high on the list for my quick trip to SLC. I was pleasantly surprised that we snagged a spot for 2 at the bar on a Friday night one hour before closing. This bar is so hip. It's a small, dark, and intimate space. There's individual seating at the bar, a few communal tables, and some four seater tables, perfect for a date night or bites with a small group. Their selection of indie/alternative music also fit the bill. The atmosphere here is very cool and chill then head right next door to Water Witch for loud and ratchet music, truly the best of both worlds! Because they technically share a space and liquor license, the entire space is 21+. Love that! On to the food, first thing, these portion sizes were very generous for izakaya style dining. We got there very late, so a few things I wanted to try were sold out, but we still had a good spread. The beef belly wraps were the most perfect bite. Crisp veggies, tender beef, a little spice from the ssamjang paste. The waiter recommended the mushroom szechuan noodles and it did not disappoint! But be warned, he described them as not very spicy, just a lil spice hit towards the back of your throat. I am a spicy girlie and will confidently say, if spice isn't your thing, pass on this. My friend doesn't do spicy and couldn't eat this dish comfortably. The kimchi fried rice was done beautifully. We also tried the chicken skin, wagyu, and mushroom skewers. I 100% recommend trying a few of those, very tasty! I originally wanted to try this spot because of their extensive non alcoholic drink menu. Kind of disappointing that the Phony Negroni was bottled and not hand crafted but very minor detail. I tried the Perilla Sky, so light and refreshing! If I haven't convinced you with the beautiful space and mouthwatering food, the service was outstanding. Like I said, we got there about an hour before closing, we got seated in less than 10 minutes. Our waiter was very attentive, not rushing us at all and had great recommendations. He even shared the spotify playlist they use. lol

Yelp
Resy was for 7:15, we were seated around 7:50. The restaurant is loud, small. All of the staff were friendly to us and apologetic about the wait, but the service was lacking-- I didn't like the pacing of everything, server was hard to track down, dirty plates left on our table for a long time, empty water carafe sat on our table for awhile, we never got plates to share. The food was lacking in balance and the quality of ingredients wasn't as high as I anticipated. The dessert was really bad-- semifredo was rock hard frozen solid and the dish itself made little sense. It was an overly sweet granita but that's basically it. That might have been the most disappointing dessert I've ever ordered at a restaurant. Cocktails were unique, and the enoki skewers were phenomenal. I wish this restaurant had more staff, I wish they were clearer with patrons about dining durations, I wish the restroom didn't look like a dungeon, I wish the karaage was juicer and more flavorful, and I wish they reconsidered their approach for desserts. I hate it when it's so obvious that desserts are an afterthought at restaurants. FOH seemed like a mess, meaning a little unprofessional/amateur but BOH worked fast, cleanly, and organized. I had medium-high expectations, and I was let down from beginning to end.

Yelp
Absolute must try! My boyfriend's roommates are friends with the owners here so we figured it was finally time to give it a try. We went for dinner and drinks and to be honest I was very worried the food wouldn't be amazing or would be too small, but boy was I wrong! We split the spicy cucumber salad which was to die for. It had cucumber, mushrooms and I believe squid all mixed in a spicy sauce, very good! We also got the mushroom skewer to split and it was only $3 for a little side item. The mushrooms were delicious and had a yummy, smoky flavor. I also got the spicy tofu and my boyfriend got the spicy rice. The tofu was amazing and came with crab as well. My boyfriend said it was the best tofu he had ever tried. It was very doughy and delicious, I'd never had tofu quite like that. The spicy rice was also amazing and had a yummy, unique flavor. Forgot to mention that I also got the Pompoco-Loco cocktail which came in this awesome mug ( that you can take home for only $6;) ) my drink was very smooth and creamy, was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and texture. Plus how could you not love a drink that comes in a cool mug like that. Overall, I definitely recommend! Great vibes, awesome severs and delicious food and drinks! 10/10!

Yelp
Congratulations Chef David on being a 2024 semifinalist for the James Beard Best Chef Mountain Region award! Everything was so amazing! Where to begin? Chicken wings were juicy and flavorful. All the raw fish we ordered was super fresh. The duck wrap was our favorite food item followed closely by the tasty skewers. We really enjoyed watching them grill our skewer order. The smokiness adds to the rich flavor. We liked the skewers so much that we ordered more :) Add their drink menu is marvelous! The menu notes the special beverages that are NOT available at the Utah liquor stores. Extremely pleased to have a glass of the 12 year Yamazaki whiskey, SO smooth it's dangerous :) I understand the award recognition, everything was perfect! Special thanks to Randy S. for alerting me to visit this restaurant before leaving Utah.

Yelp
Don't sleep on the marvelous dessert at Bar Nohm---a refreshing, perfectly balanced shiso maoekkeli granita with semifreddo and dehydrated white chocolate crumbles. Perfect in every way!! I should not neglect to reiterate my adoration of the stellar food, beverage and service at this gem.

Jason L.

Yelp
This is cool little spot. Food was great with just the right amount of spicy flavors. Great cocktails and beer options. Fun little spot to check out on a night out.

Cara C.

Yelp
Had to try this place out. The skewers were good, my favorite being the chicken skin and the miso pork. Tried the recommended drink - the iwai manhattan - I could drink it all day. The service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere for the place is a vibe - think casual. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Be aware, this place can get packed, so come through early (like at opening) or get a reservation beforehand (especially for the bigger parties). I went around opening time and did not have to wait. Other thing to note: the food here is a bit more on the pricier side.

Andrew G.

Yelp
Great experience! We're in this area pretty frequently, we've never stopped by this place. This was the first time that we've been in and it was delicious! The service was great and very attentive, just note that they don't pace out your courses they'll just bring it out as it's ready. The ambience was great, I love the interior, good music good vibes. We'll be back!

Nancee T.

Yelp
We came here for a nice girls dinner and it did not disappoint. We love the ambiance as it was dim and relaxed. Our waiter was nice and attentive which we appreciated. We got a bunch of the skewers and they all were delicious. My fav was definitely the wagyu which was so tender and flavorful. We also got spicy chicken, duck wrap, Kimchị fried rice, snapper, soft shell crab, and oysters. The spicy chicken was good and flavorful. The duck wrap was amazing, did not taste gamy at all!! The snapper was so fresh and it melted in my mouth, I had to order another one. The soft shell crab was soft and yummy. The oysters were also very fresh. My least favorite was the kimchi fried rice. I felt like it was a little dry and could use a little more kimchi flavor to it. Overall, I would order the snapper, duck wrap, oysters and skewers again. We also got drinks. I got the Nohm 75 which was really good. It wasn't too strong and had a slight sour taste. Definitely check them out! I also hear they change their menu based on the season so definitely coming back!

Randy M.

Yelp
This place was an absolute delight. The cocktails were unique and flavorful. And the food, oh the food. Magnificent dishes with addictive flavors, I couldn't stop eating even though I was getting full. Modern interior with a really hip vibe. Go there!

Yelp
The Asian Pear Salad may have quite literally solved all my Daddy issues and past Trauma in life. This was the best salad I've ever had. The Steak and Mushroom Skewers 10/10. The Wings 10/10 The Drinks 10/10. One comes with Pokémon cards as a garnish. Adrian, the server, was as close to meeting Jesus as I think we could get without walking to the pearly gates ourselves. We are now looking for homes to buy in Utah just so we can eat here more often.

Michael S.

Yelp
Missus rates this a 4/5. Reservation for 2 on Sunday,, February 11th, at 6pm. We arrived shortly before 6pm, where we were greeted by someone checking our IDs, and then we were seated. There's no under-seat hooks for the lower bar table seats (that aren't the bar itself), so there's a communal coatrack off to the side where you put your coat. It's still in view, so that's fine, but something to consider. Parking - the restaurant is centrally located in a place where there's angled parking right out front. It wasn't busy when we arrived (restaurant was barely full at 6pm), but there were only 5-10 parking spots 'open' - because there's plenty of other businesses (bars and restaurants) within a close proximity, and this is very much a communal parking lot. We ordered chicken gizzard and miso pork kushiyaki skewers. For drinks, we got a spiced (non-alcoholic) pinarita and a draft Sapporo. For "mains" we ordered beef belly, Asian pear salad, and kimchi rice. After tax and tip it came out to $94, and we took the salad and beef belly as leftovers for our plane ride home. Contrary to what the server said - the portion sizes are not that small. I wish I was able to try the duck wrap, the oden, and the spicy chicken, but that'll have to wait until the next time we come back. The ambiance - it's a funk mix? (hard to explain). The actual music is not "loud" but even with other conversations hapoening around you, it's loud enough you can hear the individual lyrics being articulated (for whatever that's worth). Service was courteous and polite, never feeling overbearing the full time we were there. The service staff consistently refilled water without it getting low, and without ever having to ask. Definitely felt like the service was a positive here - it felt like a warm welcoming visit.

Yelp
I love Bar Nohm! Centered around their vast drink menu and small plates, it's the perfect place to go for a date or friends and relax/converse. In a world where it feels like everything is so fast paced and we don't take the time to enjoy our meals and slow down, it's restaurants like this that remind me/us to take our time and enjoy each others company. Even for someone like me who doesn't drink alcohol, they have plenty of options. I tried both a pre mixed mocktail as well as one from the bartender and I loved them both! My partner also got a pre mixed cocktail and tried one off the menu as well and I did take a sip of his and they were also delightful. While their food menu is small, it's not lacking in options by any means. I haven't tried everything there yet but what I have tried is interesting, full of depth food flavor, and often a conversation piece in itself. There's not an item I haven't liked! I've had the spicy cucumber salad, Asian pear salad, karaage, fried tofu, most of their skewers, fried rice, and Japanese snapper so far. My favorite thing about a small plates type of a restaurant is sharing and being able to try as many things as possible! The ambience is lovely, it is small so huge groups may feel a little cramped. Bonus is that Water Witch is right next store and you can pop over when you're done if you don't want your night to be over.

Bernice C.

Yelp
We were seated immediately on Sunday night, and loved the atmosphere and food here. We ordered the bacon wrapped enoki and chicken tender skewer. The bacon enoki was cooked perfectly crisp and tender. Out of the two skewers, the bacon enoki was definitely the favorite. The chicken tender was moist but was nothing special. We also ordered the chicken wings and the soft shell crab. They were both super crisp and the flavors were very unique. Although this place is a little pricier, I do think it's quite delicious and fun to try if you're craving small bites!

Two Gays Three Takes ..

Yelp
8.0/10 Dined on 8/25/24 Bar Nohm bills itself as a modern izakaya--a casual Japanese bar that serves a variety of drinks and small dishes. The small plates, perfect for sharing, make it an ideal spot for after-work socializing, though we found the five dishes we selected more than satisfying for dinner. Everything was delicious, and it's easy to see why Bar Nohm earned a spot as a 2024 James Beard Award semifinalist. We were impressed by the complexity of flavors and the stellar presentation. The drinks were as thoughtfully crafted as the food, and the branding--from the menus to the decor--was spot on. Next time we're in SLC we'll be back. ______________________________________ spicy striped jack cabbage salad, perilla, nori grilled rice tare, kimchi, mushroom, nori chicken wings gochujang butter, sesame seed, lemon zest, cotija spicy prawns chipotle cream, thai slaw, avocado, coconut szechuan noodle skirt steak, a choy, sesame, mushroom shiso vanilla semifredo, shiso/makgeolli granita, crystalized white chocolate ______________________________________ Bar Nohm delivered a solid performance with five consistently tasty dishes. The Szechuan noodles were the most substantial plate we sampled, with a generous portion of chewy noodles bathed in a chili butter sauce that delivered subtle mala -- the signature numbing spiciness from Szechuan peppercorns. The spicy prawns were a lighter addition -- the thai slaw featuring papaya and herbs incorporated plenty of lime and fish sauce and struck the perfect balance between tart and sweet. The grilled rice was a nice twist on crispy rice, with a crunchy exterior glazed in sweet soy. Finely diced mushrooms and kimchi added depth and substance to the plate. The spicy striped jack offered six generous slices of sashimi complemented by a crisp cabbage salad and herbaceous perilla. I found this dish particularly well balanced; the spicy dressing enhanced the dish without overwhelming it. When the reasonable price point is accounted for, Bar Nohm really hit it out of the park. - TWP ______________________________________ Bar Nohm provided a great experience. It has a trendy and modern aesthetic that makes it a great place to go out with friends. The food and drinks matched the aesthetic--with modern-but-refined options that consistently hit the mark. My cocktail was rye-based and boozy, while balancing a little sweetness and spice. The prawns, striped jack, and crispy rice all had a kick to them, super fresh ingredients, and nice accompaniments that added texture and flavor. I didn't love the wings as much as TWP did--I personally prefer them to have a little crisp on the outside, but they tasted good. The noodles were also a great center piece--more filling than the other options, while being perfectly salted and also a little spicy. Overall, it was difficult to find anything wrong, and I would definitely go back again. -JB

Yelp
I loved the decor and bar bites. Everything is plated very beautifully, but not in a pretentious way. They initially opened as a full sit down restaurant, but shut down for a bit and reopened to shift focus to its bar food. If you tried this before the rebrand, give it another try! Do note that they don't offer any type of dessert menu. I'll admit, I was pretty skeptical when I heard kushiyaki in Salt Lake. But when I saw them grilling the skewers over charcoal with sparks flying everywhere, I knew it was going to be good. And sure enough, it was so tasty with apparent charcoal flavors. My one piece of criticism is $4 for chicken thigh is quite pricy compared to the $2 - $3 ones you can get in LA.

Yelp
Man, this place knocked my expectations out of the park. Everything I ate (except the Pork Belly skewer) was absolutely amazing!! I would definitely take my friends from out of town here! The vibes are good, the wait staff is killer, and the bathroom ambiance is awesome. Our waiter told us to get a few entrees and a few skewers to fill us up...we thought that was too much, but it turned out to be the perfect amount. Adrian is a killer waiter!! I'd highly recommend the Beef Belly, the kimchi rice, and the wagyu skewers. 10/10. Awesome job y'all!!

Lo M.

Yelp
Nohm is my go-to date spot in SLC! It's unique, intimate and the wings are enough to keep me coming back. Plus, oysters are a delicacy that can be hard to find in the city. The cocktails are innovative and fancy and the ambiance transports you to the next level. Every time I've visited, our bartender is attentive and knowledgeable! Make sure to swing by their sister-bar Water Witch right next door for their award-winning drinks!

Taylor P.

Yelp
Absolutely mind-blowing! Another little gem in Salt Lake with phenomenal food and drinks. There was so much to choose from and we definitely ordered with our hearts, not minds lol. We got most of their skewer selection, kimchi rice, oden (my fave) and the curry dip -- all of which can easily be shared between 2-3 people. Our server was very accommodating and knowledgeable and the food came out fast and hot. A very cute date spot, as the Water Witch is just next door (a smaller more casual bar with yummy drinks!). Though a little outside of downtown, very much worth the drive!

Ha B.

Yelp
This seems like the hopping popping place for SLC lately. It's got a different vibe, fusion urban asian and is definitely hip. We didn't expect to get full from 3 angis and 3 skewers but oh boy, that was plenty for 2 people. Beef belly was the best dish that we tried. The skewers were all delicious and I did enjoy my fair share of cocktails here. Would come back to try the rest of the menu.

Elle M.

Yelp
They're back! I've been anxiously awaiting the return of Nohm. In their first few weeks of re-opening, the menu has a nice balance of veggie, chicken, fish, and beef items. Our meal was hit and miss on Friday night. The bluefin, chicken skewers and cauliflower were perfection, but the oysters, sea bass, and potato pancake missed the mark. For me, with oysters, less is more, and the garnish detracted from the sweet, briny finish. The sea bass seemed undercooked and floating in a gelatinous substance that wasn't appetizing. The potato pancake was overly salty and mushy on arrival. But our server Clifton was perhaps the best we've encountered anywhere. It's difficult to articulate what makes a standout server, but it could be summarized in one word: passion. This man is passionate about food, service, and the quality of both. He was exceptional. Drinks were also exceptional as one would expect from Crystal Daniels behind the bar. To our surprise, they had mezcal and made a perfect mezcalita that paired well with the chicken skewers. The space has been refreshed to add patio seating and allow guests to move freely between the restaurant and Water Witch next door. There's also communal and private dining space and a chefs counter where we would have preferred to sit and watch the kitchen. Next time, perhaps when we have a reservation. Despite my initial experience with the re-opening menu, I'm keeping the overall experience as 5 star for location, ambience, service and potential. I'll be back again this week to sample the rest of the menu.

Samantha L.

Yelp
Stopped in Salt Lake City during our road trip and this was one of the few places with soup available late at night. The Oden did not disappoint. It was hearty and filling despite looking small. I loved the stuffed mushroom and the fishcake with the radish chunks. It was perfect for the cold night. The Gochujang Butter Chicken Wings with Cotija was soft yet crispy and juicy. The flavors went so well together! The Pork-Wrapped Enoki skewer & the Beef Wagyu skewer were nothing to write home about, unfortunately. I've had better yakitori. The ambiance was nice and staff was friendly, but the wait for just wings, 2 skewers, and a small oden was way longer than anticipated, especially since there was only like 4 other people in the restaurant.

Nola G.

Yelp
Ambience is the only thing i liked. Drinks were weird. Food was odd. Service was ok.

Bryson W.

Yelp
Super cool vibe and ambiance. I hate saying it like this, but very hip. The food was great, not mind blowing, but great. I have a feeling that if I could have had more of the menu that I would have liked it even more, I would love to go back. Perfect date spot. Here is what we had: - panisse: the aioli was great but I couldn't help but feel like I'd rather have a French fry. I would skip next time. - chicken wings: incredible, probably my favorite plate I've had in 2024. Must get. - kimchi rice: yummy. Almost like a paella. Would get again. - curry dip: probably the surprise dish of the night. Incredibly flavorful curry and unique way to eat curry. Would get again. - miso pork skewer: pretty good, nothing amazing. - pork belly skewer: it's more like a bacon wrapped mushroom. I really liked this.

Yelp
Came to this establishment on a Friday night, sat at the bar this place is pretty small but clean and a cool layout, the portions here are not huge by any means but the flavors and quality is gawd dang good!!! Service is some of the best services you can get.. Kabobs all day with some good drinks. I actually enjoyed my time here And will be coming back frequently.

Kayla E.

Yelp
I've been to Nohm twice now and both times have been blown away. Highly recommend getting a window or bar seat if you are wanting a bit more "intimate" of conversations as the center table is more conversation bar set up. Every single item i have had on the menu has been fantastic (and as a celiac I was so excited to find out that their ENTIRE menu is gluten free!) I can't tell you the last time i've had so many delicious food and cocktail options with a lot of peace of mind. They have new cocktails every week or so -- so if you really like something take a picture and enjoyyyyyyyyy! (If they happen to have the Ghost Daq, that a fav.) Could be 5 stars if we had a bit more seating for eating options and was a wee bit more price friendly. Definitely a splurge evening (for me) Best for small bites & drinks

Yelp
Genuinely one of the best places I have ever eaten... Came here on a Sunday, and was promptly given a table without a reservation. The restaurant features many small-medium sized plates for sharing, at a decent price-point for the quality of food. Tried the spicy chicken thighs, duck wraps, beef belly, australian wagyu, welk, chicken skin, along with the foam topped cocktail and it was all amazing. The flavor combinations on these plates was awesome and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal.

Yelp
My wife and I love dining out in Salt Lake City, and over the years, the restaurant scene has really blossomed. Whenever friends ask us for our favorite spot, we both immediately say, "Bar Nohm." Bar Nohm is the epitome of hip dining, offering delicious, explorative cocktails alongside incredible cuisine. A huge bonus for us is that my partner has celiac disease, and Bar Nohm is almost entirely gluten-free without even advertising it. That's a flex! The menu at Bar Nohm is full of standout dishes. The spicy curry dip and soft shell crab are absolutely incredible. The wagyu beef from their separate grill menu is another must-try--smoky, tender, campfire-forward, yet juicy and tender. The kimchi rice is also amazing. The panisse (chickpea fries) and the sauce you dip it in are a recurring daydream of mine. When it comes to cocktails, you can't go wrong with the Liquid Marble, and my partner swears by the Perilla Sky. You can tell the staff is invested in the cocktails and food by the way they talk about it. The waitstaff, with the exception of one waiter we've had, are witty, friendly, and knowledgeable. Kudos to the chef for what appears to be stellar leadership as you can tell the staff is really invested in the food and drinks (they even help create the different cocktails!) That's good leadership. No wonder it's been nominated for the James Beard award. It has my vote. Well done David Chon!

Yelp
Quality. Excellence. Expensive. The ingredients in every dish we sampled were of the highest quality and preparation was exquisite. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food and the whole experience was top notch. We sat at the bar and started with the spicy prawns, Japanese snapper, grilled rice and grilled skewers of lamb, pork belly and Wagyu beef. It's truly difficult to pick one dish as shining brighter than another, but for me, the spicy prawns were the star of the show. The peppers and the lovely spice were amazing and made me want more. The grilled rice also was delicious, with an incredibly satisfying texture. The snapper was incredibly fresh and we loved the skewers, with the pork belly having a satisfying and surprising texture due to it being wrapped around enoki mushroom. Beautiful! We sampled a couple of cocktails, too. The Atari Grouch was interesting, but we preferred the Perilla Sky. Sitting at the bar, with the charred wood walls and the incredibly fresh, interesting and amazingly high quality food, I was taken back to when I lived in Tokyo. It especially hit home when I received the bill. However, with such great food, excellent service and interesting decor, I have to say that it was worth it.

Yelp
This is still a good spot after years I haven't been. We needed a quick bite before our concert on the week day and this was a perfect spot. Food came out quick, our server understood the mission so he made the whole experience quite efficient. Spicy chicken was very good, spicy but didn't burn *wink*. I would come back for a more relaxing time.

Yelp
Nohm has some of the most inventive cocktails I've seen in salt lake and I love the concept and unique dishes. Anju- highly recommend the grilled sea bass (pictured) and the crispy chicken (delicious). Mountain potato pancake I thought was ok, maybe worth trying. Skewers- chicken thigh and chicken tender are really excellent and worth getting. Chicken skin was the only "bad" thing on the menu. Overall it's a great addition to the neighborhood and I'll definitely be back. I liked it but wanted to love it.

Yelp
Wonderful place for an intimate dinner or cute date night. Space is limited so try to get a reservation in advance or be willing to be flexible on a Saturday night. They have an alternating menu so it's hard to make comments on their overall menus. I do think it was missing some salt, and the shishito peppers were SO spicy. It just caught us all off guard. I think the skewers are safe though because they're always on the menu and the ones we tried were good.

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit Bar Nohm for quite some time, and I have to say, it was worth the wait! I had an incredible experience and will be back. The only negative I found was the seating arrangement, which was family style on a high top with stools. But everything else blew me away! Firstly, the sake collection was incredible, and I had a fantastic cocktail. Whoever made the cocktail menu certainly knows what they are doing! The interior was super classy and the service was fantastic, definitely far above average. But the food! Wow! I was blown away. Definitely treat yourself to the wagyu skewer (or 4). So flavorful and delicious! The mushroom skewers were also excellent. And the oysters were great. While I wasn't super into the idea of kimchi rice, I sure am glad I got it! I loved the texture and flavor of the rice, and it just overall worked as a fantastic dish (be aware that it's a tad spicy). I can definitely understand why this restaurant has received so much attention. While I do consider a meal here as a splurge, I will most certainly be back.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Nohm after seeing reviews of their rice cake dishes but i will warn you the menu is very different from the previous reviews posted on here. They still have the skewers but everything else on the old menu is no longer served which was pretty disappointing. Overall my favorite was the wagyu and chicken heart skewers. They were really well seasoned. Service is pretty fast too. All the employees are extremely kind as well. The reason it was not 5 stars was the price obviously ($12 for one skewer of 4 bites of wagyu) and the sausage they used in the kimchi fried rice is one you can buy in stores non-refrigerated which for $20+ dish i'd expect something of a little more quality. The chicken dish also had random bites that were overly salted. Otherwise the decor and ambiance and all the dishware was truly beautiful.

Yelp
I don't want to raise expectations but I truly loved everything I got here. my favorites were the korean pear salad, sesame noodles, and the kiss from arroz cocktail. sooo delicious. i wanted to tell the chef he's amazing but he looked too busy to be bothered. this restaurant should come to LA or OC!

Yelp
Came for a little nibble on a Saturday night around 8pm. Perfect night weather in September, we took a patio seating. The ambiance was lovely, the restaurant was a good vibe. Menu consisted of little things and decent sized items perfect for a night nibble with a cocktail - Oysters -nothing special but it was fresh and good! - shishito peppers and green beans with furikake and some aioli sauce was delicious would order again - potato pancakes, an Asian twist on a potato latkes. Crunch on the outside, perfect! - wagyu and chicken heart skewers. They were good, but I felt wagyu didn't taste like wagyu -fish belly skewers..., Defs skip not good. It was gooey but also burnt earthy taste -kimchi fried rice..... yikes rice was over cooked and undercooked at the same time. Bottom of the pan where it's suppose to be crispy Defs wasn't. Come for cocktails and bites, don't do a full dinner. Great vibes!

Yelp
Great skewers, great cocktails, friendly staff. All around, one of my favorite spots in SLC.

Yelp
Nohm is likely SLCs most dialed in spot. Service, food, atmosphere, neighborhood, all 5 stars.

Yelp
I had a fantastic dinner here. I don't eat meat and there were several dishes they could modify to accommodate. The mushroom skewers were a great start. Fried rice so delicious. Fun cocktails! Great service, cozy vibes. Highly recommend. After dinner there is a fun bar next door.

Yelp
Still thinking about how absolutely excellent the service at Nohm was. Sometimes get cynical about restaurant standards and then a place like this surprises me and blows my socks off. Cannot wait to return. We tried the vegetarian rice cake, chili-fried cauliflower, grilled skewers (chef's choice), chive pancake. All amazing. Love this detail - you can choose your own sake cup. I love when restaurants have their own signature touches. Top notch. Thanks to the staff and chef for a perfect first-time experience! Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Nohm reopened recently and we finally got to get a reservation! Really good ambience and great seating. Drinks were creative and refreshing. Chicken skewers was my favorite. Yakitori style type of restaurant. Shareable plates were tasty and created an experience. Would recommend this place to people that want to have a different dining experience.

Yelp
Fun environment with great food. They did a great job with the build out. I've been here a few times and always enjoy myself. Love the skewers. They have amazing cocktails. The kimchi fried rice was a little dry the first time I came and lacked flavor which bummed me out. I decided to give it another try and it was my favorite thing I got that second time. Must have just been a bad day the first time and so if for some reason you tried it and didn't love it I think it is worth giving it another shot.

Yelp
Bar Nohm is awesome. Food and cocktails are very solid. Service is great. Ambiance is vibey. I would definitely recommend as a date spot. Not a great option for large groups because it's a small space with an intimate atmosphere. It's a little pricey so prepare for that. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants and bars I have ever had the pleasure of visiting! Our bartender and server were fantastic! Very patient when we asked questions and an over all delightful interactions review We were seated at the bar that filled up very quickly along with the tables, they get packed very fast so try and make a reservation! It's a great place if you wanna try a lot of different things, everything is great for sharing and I'd say the vibes are very much social and chill! Great place to go with friends! Don't get me started with the food oh my dear god it's so good! Very flavorful and every bite it's so unique! Literally cannot recommend this place enough please y'all do yourself the favor and check this place out!

Yelp
Super trendy spot for drinks/food. Menu was unique but great quality and taste for the price! Will be back when in SLC!
