Montreal's Best Dive Bars for Karaoke, Jukeboxes, and Cheap Beers - Eater Montreal

"A dive bar is always enhanced by a highway-adjacent location, which is the case here: right next to the Decarie Expressway. Le Bièvre (sometimes known as Bar Rouge) had a makeover a couple of years back, but we won’t hold it against the place." - Tim Forster, Ashley Joseph, JP Karwacki

Bar Le Bièvre is one of the more charming, unassuming, and friendliest bars I've encountered. Walking into Le Bièvre is like walking into the the set of a TV show with such interesting people, characters, and set. Margot, the manager and matriarch, will usually greet you and give you an impromptu tour of the bar, introduce you to the patrons, and welcome you to the family. She makes the most amazing homemade salsa and makes you feel welcome. There's live music pretty regularly in the evenings. You should keep an eye out for Margot's son, who is a hidden talent himself on the electric guitar. Talk to a patron - everyone you meet are friendly regulars, old and young, who keep it real and seem to have an interesting story. It's not a rowdy place, but you'll come out a more fulfilled person.

the atmosphere in the bar was pleasant. but everything was ruined by a female bartender who complained about her work and begged money from every visitor, even after we payed in cash. When we were just sitting and talking I felt pressured by her comments. Don't go there

Although silently chanty in appearance, it is actually a nice bar. Small, cozy and the bartender was very nice and accommodate herself to us. The only compliant was the noise of the music, which was slightly to high for a small bar, but it was still very nice nonetheless.

An argument happened between me and a girl over music and Margot got into it . She ended up slapping me in the face and a whole brawl went on . As a bartender , you do not put your hands on people for petty things that had nothing to do with you . I will eventually address this to the manager asap . Margot is very disrespectful and thinks she can get away with everything . She’s a bully . Please review your bartenders because she does not Deserve to be here . Getting physically assaulted by an employee is unacceptable and it’s not a first time occurrence with her at that bar . She also steal money from drinks when people pay to get tips . Please review her . Other than that it’s a great bar but she need la to be fired . It’s not the first problem occurrence with her . I’ve been coming over for a longtime . Thank you .

This bar is amazing! The staff is extremely kind & caring. The locals who come around make my days brighter. Amazing spot. Favourite bar in Montreal hands down.

Savage, old, nasty. Stay away from the food at all costs. Glasses were dirty too

The aura inside the bar is like in the movies (not in a good way). They do not accept debit, just pure cash. They ask the tip rigt away after you have ordered.

Yelp
I was new to town and just wanted to check out whatever open mic was running on a Sunday night. I walked into the bar and was immediately greeted as if I walked into someone's living room. The art on the wall is painted by the lovely bartender, the open mic is ran by a friendly and talented musician, the decor is homely and nice, the Rock and roll was ridiculously awesome! Apparently they have an open stage or an open mic on nearly every night of the week which is fantastic. There is a pool table if great live music isn't your thing and you can also admire all the art pieces on the wall. Really glad I went there.

Yelp
Good ambiance, good vibes! An almost exclusive local bar around Snowdon for the fellas, and missus that would like to catch a good time, and/or maybe drown their sorrows. Great company!
