Bar San Miguel - Carroll Gardens

I absolutely loved the aesthetics of this bar. Loved the backyard. It's all beautifully decorated. They have a great happy hour. I had a Pomegranate Mezcalita and it was delicious. I didn't try the food, so I can't comment on it. The service is good. Jaime, the bartender and Claudia, the server, were both very hospitable. I would definitely come back. I have to try some food next time.

What an amazing experience me and my friends had at this restaurant. I came for happy hour and was immediately blown away by the calm decor and beautiful paintings and sculptures all around the restaurant. The owner really knew what they were doing when designing the layout of this restaurant because it really transport you to a different place and I love that. I think I had some of the best margaritas in my entire life. Here you have to try the green Mezcal margarita it is amazing. I have the El Pastore tacos, which were chefs kiss and the churros. I could instantly tell that they were made from scratch in house and that is really important to me. All in all, I highly recommend coming to this restaurant all of the servers were attentive to my table not just one and I really loved The whole overall experience. This place is a must!

First of all, the service is incredible. The bartenders are professional and make the most incredible cocktails, even if you ask for off menu. The food is excellent and solid core Menu with excellent rotational seasonal.

I had the tuna ceviche taquitos. They were delicious! Drinks also very good! Prompt service with a smile.

The bartender knew what he was doing the drinks, did not skimp on the tequila, those drinks were strong. Had 2 of the El Picante and definitely was well worth the price. The beef empanadas were 10/10. Tacos were okay. Quesadilla was very good. The server didn’t seem like she wanted to be there, but hey we all have bad days. The frozen margaritas were also great. The pomegranate was not my favorite, pretty though.

Bar San Miguel is disarmingly sincere. It doesn’t try to impress you with trends or big statements. It just does Mexican food well. The tortillas are full of flavor. The salsas are fresh, balanced, and made with care. What feels special about this small Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn is coherence. The food makes sense. The drinks make sense. The room makes sense. The service makes sense. Uriel, the bartender, is the best. He makes cocktails that truly match the food, always know the best tequila or mezcal to get everything in harmony. The space is welcoming and comfortable, a place where people gather easily. You leave happy and steady, reminded that food, at its most honest, is not spectacle. It is community.

Loved my meal here. Tried the watermelon tuna ceviche which was fresh and perfect for the hot weather. The tacos (fish/short rib) were both really good with balanced flavors, delicious sauces, some pickled onion that complimented the flavors nicely. Unexpectedly my favorite dish was the mushroom omelette, which I didn’t order but I did try a bit of. It was perfect with the flavors of the mushrooms working nicely with the cheesiness. They did not skimp on the cheese which made it soooo tasty. And all the different mushroom flavors absolutely shined. It was hot out, and we sat on the patio which was nice and shady and felt fine with the fans turned on and generous refills of ice water all the while. Have been wanting to try this spot and I am so glad that I was able to!

Bar San Miguel — legend has it that it’s owned by Jim Cramer from Mad Money. I’ve been there countless times but have never actually run into him :) What keeps me coming back are the great margaritas and tacos. The food is solid, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s a perfect spot whether you’re out with friends or on a date. It’s definitely not a flashy place — blink and you might miss it — but that’s part of its charm. The garden is also lovely, and the whole place really comes alive in the spring and summer. A low-key neighborhood favorite with reliably good vibes.

Food: We came on a Sunday and the brunch menu was available. We ordered nachos, a burrito, guacamole, and queso. Everything was so fire! Best queso I've had because it was actually cheese not a sauce. I enjoyed everything throughly thought everything was seasoned well. I will definitely be happy to eat here anytime. My margarita was fire, they made me a spicy margarita with tajin rim. ** note: my friend did not like their jamaica and she knows a good one. Service: service was excellent, very attentive very kind, we were checked on regular by multiple people I loved the service. Ambiance: the music is going, it's dimly lit, they obviously have a bar counter it's date friendly family friendly whatever the occasion. To conclude: say YES! Get your Mexican food fix and have a great cocktail!

I have been following Bar San Miguel on Instagram for some time, and on a recent trip to Brooklyn, a friend took me there for a cocktail. The ambience was warm and inviting. The cocktails are quite delicious and sturdy and the staff makes you feel like you're being welcomed into someone's home. I believe the bar manager was named Uriel and he knew the patron I was with, rolling out the "red carpet" treatment for us both and making me feel like I was home. The food that was coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled delicious and every customer looked very pleased and focused on their meals. I need to go back and actually have a meal, but if the cocktails and the professionalism and happy faces of patrons are any indication of what this place is about....go there! I recommend.

When I came across Bar San Miguel, I knew it was kismet; my parents eloped in San Miguel de Allende in the 60s :). Loved this place. -Friendly staff -Relaxing environment -Not trendy or stuffy -Good happy hour, until 6:00 -Outdoor covered patio seating (not on the street). -Some unique dishes (at least unique for me). -strong delicious frozen margaritas (I tried a few-the blackberry, a mango and...I forget after the 2nd.

We wandered in on a cold night, no reservation. The place was packed but they found room to squeeze us in for an hour. Nice Malbec, guac and chips, al pastor tacos. I'd return!

My best friend and I stopped by Bar San Miguel for a small bite. We sat in their backyard area at a table that was pretty small, but I guess for two people it'll work. I ordered the 5pc ceviche taquitos with yellowfin tuna, sweet onions, habanero salsa, and chipotle aioli sauce. They were good, but way too spicy for me to finish. My friend ordered the carnitas tacos (slow-cooked pork shoulder). She enjoyed her food, especially how flavorful the pork was. We also ordered two frozen margaritas, strawberry and mango. Both were good, but way too strong. Overall, the ambiance here is calming and relaxing. Not too loud. A good place to unwind and enjoy a small bite.

Place is super cute! The food was absolutely delicious -- we tried the grasshopper tacos, huitlacoche tacos, fish tacos, and the carne asada. Everything was full of flavor, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Excellent spot for date night. My wife and I came for my birthday dinner. We are both vegetarian and I loved the veggie enchiladas. I recommend asking about their tequila list. Lots of good options to choose from. Bartender and staff are so friendly and helpful.

My excitement to try this spot was matched by the quality I found. The dishes appear artful and taste delicious. Their team makes each person feel personally valued. Some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life. Test their food and see if it satisfies.

Had a chance to try Bar San Miguel in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn. It's a cozy yet inviting local with nice music & a friendly staff. The red skull over the bar caught my eye soon as I walked in. Started the evening with the house sangria & the guacamole. Guac was simple yet creamy. The sangria hit the spot. For dinner I tried the beef short ribs in mole sauce. Short ribs were tender & flavorful with a tasty mole sauce. Quinoa had a nice little spice which went well with the meal. I also sampled the carne asada which was very good. Very flavorful. The Azteka rice that came with it was so good I could eat a bowl by itself. Definitely want to go back to sample more of the menu. I would recommend reservations if you have a group of four or more. They're easy to set up online. If you're looking for a friendly place for family or a nice date spot check it out.

My husband and I had no plans for our wedding anniversary. We decided to wing it and pick somewhere near where we parked. Bar San Miguel had a few vegetarian options and good reviews. Our waiter was very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty and he was very nice and had suggestions from the menu. We order guacamole, pumpkin bisque, cheesy nachos, rice &beans, and sweet plantains. Also two peachy mezcal cocktails from the daily specials. Cocktails came out quickly and were pretty good. The guacamole came out promptly and the bisque followed less than five minutes after. The habernero pumpkin bisque was a standout. Richly flavored and textured, it paired so perfectly with the chips from the guacamole. The tortilla chips are thin and cripsy, completely fantastic. The cheesy nachos were good. As were the sweet plantains. Rice and beans was a large serving for the price and for that reason alone a standout. We then ordered churros for dessert which were a little drier and firmer than I prefer. A lot of take out orders were being processed while we waited and I think next time I would also go the takeout route. The food and service were very good but the wooden booth seating was super uncomfortable. Also we waited over 20 minutes between the soup/guac and the cheesy nachos and two side dishes. Unfortunately I felt every minute as three because of how much my back was aching from the hard wooden seats.

The food, the tequila, mezcal, TEQUILA. A great local bar that is much more than that. Along with popular tequila's there are several examples of little known but FANTASTIC tequila's. Petru is a great host and (fill-in) bartender. The classic magaritas and the off the beaten path ones are all well balanced. The food is your typical mexican fare...with an explosion of flavors and ingredients. A simple queso fundido explodes with flavors. The shrimp quesadilla is out of this world and the short rib tacos are tender and flavorful. The staff is helpful and friendly, the ambiance is relaxed with a "chill" vibe. I loved the food and drink so much...I forgot about taking pics!

I checked in n Recvd a coupon but was disappointed to find out it was not a great deal, I should have read the fine print, you have to order entrees which runs $25-29 for a free glass of sangria. Better off getting tacos n margarita $15 each. The sangria was good. The cod entree i ordered was ok. The guac n chips are really good, can't go wrong w short rib taco or the shrimp taco. The hot sauce that came w the guac was the best part. The Place was crowded for a Tuesday. I used to come here for the happy hour pre COVID. I don't know lf I'll come back since I moved away from the neighborhood. service is courteous as expected.

I rarely give five stars because I want to save them for the exceptional ones. Well, this is it!!! The manager, Petru and I coordinated for our bachelorettes dinner. Petru and his team were really nice and understanding. The menu was great and the drinks were delicious. Some were a little bitter for me but the majority of the group were happy with theirs. We had the pre-tix menu along with open bar drinks for 2 hours. Please see attached specialized menu. Best bachelorette party ever, thanks to Petru and his team. Will definitely return for the food and drinks.

Such a delightful pleasure to find an accommodating, cozy, elegant and well-run restaurant. A small group of friends decided to try this place based on a couple of decidedly unique traits. One, they have a nicely set up garden and second, there are grasshoppers (chapulines) on the menu! In addition, their ceviche taquitos and short rib is delicious. If you're into the spicy stuff, ask for their habañero hot sauce. It's potent and thoroughly satisfying. Flavorful and not just spicy for the sake of being hot. Petru and the rest of the staff is gracious, patient and kind. Thank goodness some people still understand what being in the service industry is all about. Go, order whatever drink special they offer, eat to your heart's content and thank me in the morning!

My new fav place for Tacos in Brooklyn! I am soooo coming back for the octopus and chorizo tacos, the guacamole and the homemade yucca sticks. Great service! We were seated right away, our margaritas came out in less than 5 minutes and the food arrived very quickly right after that. The music was not too loud, unlike many other bars and I was able to have a meaningful conversation with my two childhood friends that I haven't seen for over 5 years. Thank you for the wobderful dinner. I will definitely come back at least once a week.

Bar San Miguel far exceeded our expectations. All the food we tried was phenomenal. Kind of a hidden gem in Carroll Gardens with a stunning backyard patio (next time!), great selection of mezcals, all from a scratch kitchen. Queso Fundido // Ooey gooey, rich and velvety. Love that instead of tortilla chips they serve warm tortillas instead. The cheese pull was EPIC, and the piping hot cheese blend was scrumptious. Tuna Taquito Wontons // Referencing the menu, they must've taken these off the menu since we visited a few weeks ago. Which is BONKERS, because good lord these were a unanimous knockout dish. My only complaint was that they were teeny tiny, and I wish they were 12x the size. The perfect, upscale snack! Chicken Enchiladas // The house-made green sauce the enchiladas were smothered in was the type of sauce that excites me. The flavors were vibrant and alive, with a nice warming kick throughout. All the other components played well together. We both had Margaritas and Palomas and I'd give the upper hand to the latter. There was a bit of a wait at first, but upon further notice the restaurant only had three people on the floor (including the patio). It was a hot night and they were working hard to keep people's drinks filled and food coming out in a timely manner. Overall, we were highly impressed. Especially since we made a last second decision to ditch our previous plans and do what we were in the mood for, which was to chow down on Mexican food. Would recommend for happy hour with your friends, but don't overlook the 5-star eats!

Stumbled into this spot browsing the area. My friend and I were seated quickly. The decor is really nice and intimate. The hibiscus margaritas were tasty and somewhat strong. The nachos were delicious!! The short rib quesadillas were more like a pizza, not a traditional quesadilla, but it was still good nonetheless.

Have you seen the cocktails?! That was reason enough for us to go there for brunch. Go for the drinks but trust that the food will not disappoint. If you get the short ribs tho consider getting a side, maybe the yuca fries to go along with them. The place is super chic and the staff was nice.

The place has a nice atmosphere and great service. The tuna ceviche taquitos were a real surprise, very interesting and lots of flavor. The nachos were great, but the chorizo was a little dry and could have had a few more pickled jalapenos. For nachos that have cheesy in the name there wasn't a lot of cheese. The pork carnitas were very flavorful, although also a bit dry. Definitely would return to try other menu items.

As soon as we arrived they welcomed us. We sat down and ordered and our waitress Claudia was so welcoming that it made the time feel special. I ordered the Sangria it was delicious, my cousin ordered the Paloma it was also great, I tasted it. We shared a bowl of chips with guacamole, perfectly made. We also ordered the "Quesadilla de Hongos" as an appetizer, amazing. For entrees we ordered "Tacos de Costilla de Res" & "Tacos Del Mar"? I might be wrong, I know it had squid. Im not a fan of squid but the way it was seasoned I ate it all. For desert we ordered the churros with melted dark chocolate, OMG what's great finish. Most of all Claudia made us feel like family, she was amazing. The atmosphere in this place is great, the food and the service top tier. We will definitely return to this wonderful spot.

Bar San Miguel has a vibrant and lively atmosphere. I came here for dinner with friends and had an amazing experience! For appetizers we ordered the Classic Guacamole and Steak Quesadilla. For our mains we ordered the Pollo Tacos, Fish Tacos, and Al Pastor Tacos with a side of Yuka Fries and Rice and Beans. Everything was absolutely delicious! The food exceeded my expectations. The cocktails are also fantastic. The BSM margaritas are perfection. If you come here with a small party I recommend sharing the main dishes so you can try a bit of everything. The service was excellent and the waitstaff was extremely attentive. I loved the vibe and energy of this restaurant! Highly recommend dining at Bar San Miguel.

What a fantastic experience! The vibe at Barsan Miguel is electric. I visited on a Friday night, and the energy was infectious. The mixologist really knows their stuff; the cocktails are both inventive and refreshing. Don't miss out on their amazing nachos!

Great delicious Mexican food fresh and tasty. Service was quick and nice, drinks were tasty and enticing. The carnitas tacos were delicious indeed, it's hard to get a Good flavor on carnitas and pair it well. The vibe was nice and relaxing with a dim light but not too dark where you couldn't see your food. Definitely looking forward to happy hour in their backyard when it's nicer out.

I've ordered in from here for a while but in the past few weeks have stopped in for eat at the restaurant. Highly recommend this spot. The food is great. Spicy guacamole is great. 2 stellar items were the octopus/chorizo tacos and the beef short rib in mole sauce. They also have a fantastic tequila selection. If you're searching for "additive free" tequila's they have a terrific selection.

We are visiting family in Brooklyn for three weeks and have already been here twice. Wonderful ambiance and an outdoor patio. Food is delicious and drinks even better. The food was good. It was tasty. We had chips and guacamole, chicken quesadilla, carnitas tacos and vegetable tacos, salad and churros with chocolate sauce. I had a pre-Mother's Day lunch there on Saturday, May 11th. It went very well. The service was wonderful! Uriel was a fabulous host and the waitresses were very helpful and accommodating. Petru who worked with me to setup the event was very helpful and accommodating also. The private room was quaint, but comfortable. It was just enough space for my group of 18 ladies. Thanks so much to the staff of Bar San Miguel for making our lunch extra specia!

Our party of 4 arrived Sunday evening, the restaurant was half empty. We were seated, and the not very pleasant server tells us that a party of 6 just was seated - so we should order now, or our food would be a long wait. ?!?! As if a party of 6 was that big? We rush in an order. Our dinners are brought out - all except one meal, which we have to wait another 15 minutes for, because we are told "the chef didn't see it on the slip". No apology. No nothing. I had the Octopus tacos (Daily special) - which came out completely bathed in red sauce, so all I tasted was the red sauce. I didn't bother asking my friend's how their meals were - out of embarrassment for being the one who found this place on Yelp. I am shocked that this bar has 4.5 stars.

A gem for Mexican good lovers! The vibe inside is lively and welcoming and the staff made me feel right at home. I ordered the tacos and let me tell you, they were packed with flavor and so fresh! The guacamole is a must-try, super creamy and just the right amount of zest. Overall, it's the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable, and the food keeps you coming back for more. Already planning my next visit!

I absolutely loved the look of this place and most certainly enjoyed the vibes, but the juice, literally isn't worth the squeeze. My friend was beyond disappointed with her mango lemonade which was a very small serving for $6. I certainly had the same issue with my $13 margarita on a Collins glass. The shrimp/fish tacos were tasty, but not extraordinary for the portion for almost $20. Brunch should definitely be a more joyous occasion, especially since there are many other establishments on Smith with similar fare with more variety.

If you are looking for a cozy spot that offers friendly service, well-made cocktails, and tasty food - stop by at Bar San Miguel. I was very pleased with my experience. I stopped by on a Friday night (without a reservation) and was immediately seated. I did get there earlier on (5:45ish) but noticed that within an hour the place started to get packed. Cocktails- We had the lover's margarita and the classic margarita and both were solid. I also tried the Mezcal Verde and it was strong! Food: The empanadas were delicious and super cheesy. Short Rib tacos Chicken Quesadillas Overall, I enjoyed the drinks more than the food but still good quality. Our server was super attentive and friendly, which made the night better. I will be returning to #BarSanMiguelBK !

San Miguel is a beautifully managed Mexican restaurant in the Cobble Hill/ Carrol Gardens area and I'm glad they're here! We have been here at every time of the day. The service is always quick and friendly. From the bartender who is a true professional and was willing and eager to share his knowledge of all the tequilas available (I tried two of them neat and loved 300 Conejos reposado) - to the servers who make you feel comfortably at home. The menu is designed well and easy to read. They cover all the bases and have something to offer for any mood you might be in. The salads are fresh and light and the tacos are hearty without being overpowering, skimpy or messy. We usually have a cocktail with our meals here as they offer a great selection of margaritas and some of their own twists on classics, such as the Negroni de Puebla - a light and sweet twist (not too sweet!) on what can sometimes be a bit on the bitter side. Our favorite tacos are the Octopus and Chorizo as well as the Short Rib. Its hard to choose one as they have a pretty extensive list. The yuca fries are a hit for me, always crispy, tender and served with a spicy sauce that compliments them nicely. The staples do not disappoint, the guacamole and chips are as they should be, the rice and beans are made just right and the watermelon margarita is a must have!

Whenever I find myself smack dab in the middle of indecisiveness on a restaurant to go to, a dilemma in many households as old as time, I find comfort in knowing that I can always end this argument with an assertive "let's just go to Bar San Miguel." The bar is cozy and warm during these frigid nights, the staff is welcoming and friendly, and the food and beverages are delicious. This fine establishment checks off all the boxes for me, and I have been known for not being easy to please. I am working through the food menu with a pretty impressive speed and can now vouch for quite a few tasty items. My favorite has to be the short rib enchiladas - tender meat, plenty of flavorful sauce, and a generous portion of three enchiladas to an order. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp tacos, the carne asada, and the stuffed poblano as well when I had them. Even the salads here are loaded with goodies and are more exciting than most. And if you're going to treat yourself to dessert, the caramel stuffed churros with a scoop of hazelnut ice cream are ridiculously good. My personal preference is to always sit at the bar and chat it up with a rockstar of a bartender Manuel. All drinks and shots here are made with only fresh juices and a wide array of tequilas and mezcals. I have almost convinced myself that ordering the Mezcal Verde counts as a green juice. This place is well worth bundling up for and extending the stroll down Smith St. In all honesty, Bar San Miguel is currently in my top two favorite restaurants - the other one is a sushi spot so no competition because that would be like comparing manzanas to oranges.

Absolutely amazing! The place is beautiful and staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. Everything about this restaurant was great. The people were awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Then we also had dessert and that was really good as well. Great atmosphere with really nice people.

I'm so glad that Alexis and I found this cute Mexican Cantina restaurant. I love the outdoor space which is cozy and beautiful. The decor which was plentiful was pretty nice and it brought a uniqueness to the space. The service provided by the waitresses was very good and they were quite friendly and helpful. We decided to have the tacos (me) and empanadas (Alexis) and was pleasantly satisfied with our choices. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal especially the chicken tacos which were really good and flavorful. I definitely need more of those tacos in my life. My experience at Bar San Miguel was great and I look forward to coming back again.

Bar San Miguel has a friendly feel to it almost like you were in the real Mexico city of San Miguel. The restaurant features tequila or mezcal drinks along with the usual tacos and enchiladas. I thought the drink washed down smoothly. My food was decent but fairly standard. The atmosphere was inviting with some interesting lighting.

Wonderful service, wonderful food, wonderful restaurant! I came here for my boyfriend's birthday and a small group of friends and enjoyed a fantastic meal. We were able to make easy reservations for a Friday. The wait staff was super accommodating. They allowed me to bring in a cake for no extra charge which I greatly appreciated. We started with chips and salsa and chips and guac. The salsas came in three variations, all delicious with different levels of spice. The guac was seasoned nicely. My boyfriend and I then shared fish tacos and pork quesadilla. Both were amazing. The fish tacos were served with corn tortilla which is always a must for me. Fried to a good crisp with fresh tasting fish. The quesadilla had soft succulent pork and plenty of melted cheese inside. We also shared a pitcher of margarita which served about 5 classes of margaritas. Overall, it was a wonderful, casual meal. The space was intimate in a good way and they had a nice bar. Honestly, the best part was the service, they were very nice and attentive. We were also fortunate enough to have seen Jim Cramer as this was his bar and he randomly drops by every now and then. So cool!

Every single dish we ordered was horrible, tasteless and low quality. Got the miso cod for 29 dollars, can't believe they allow this terrible thing to be on the menu!! Low quality all around

I didn't get a chance to eat here yet, but the drinks were amazing! Especially served up by Uriel! So friendly and accommodating. He made me a couple great Mezcal cocktails. Highly recommended!
