Chino just opened last week and I went with high hopes given the hype around Tacolicious. Overall, the food didn't seem like anything special. It's a place that I would consider going to if I wanted a convenient way to satisfy the XLB craving, but Chino is NOT worth the wait.
My advice would be to wait a few weeks until the crowds die down and they really nail their menu. I went on a Friday evening and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. it ended up being a 1hr+ wait, which was somewhat tedious in that there isn't much room at the bar and they also are not able to take down phone numbers to notify you when your table is ready.
In terms of food--we were hoping for some creative or more innovative takes on some of the classic items, but most of the dishes were underwhelming. We tried the:
- Blistered green beans (decent, but could use a bit of a kick)
- Wings (good, but not great. SO or San Tung's are far superior)
- XLB (yummy!)
- Braised pork noodles - lacking flavor
The drinks were quite tasty though and our server was fantastic. Even under the busy/crowded conditions, our server was warm, friendly and attentive :)
