Bar Sazerac

Service is rather slow and probably has to do with it being busy. Very tasty red beans and rice and the portion is large. Chicken is decent and crispy, though could be seasoned (has no taste but alright with mayo and mustard).

Service was good. I really enjoyed the Hurricane. We tried the boudin egg rolls. Something different. We had about 40 minutes before next flight and this worked perfectly.

Ignore the bad reviews. Yes, it’s an airport bar/restaurant. Sit at the bar, and be patient and kind. There was only one woman working when I walked up, but she was so sweet and on top of everything! Noemi I think was her name. You’ll have a good time here, just don’t be a jerk! And the red beans and chicken were so good. Perfect stop before a flight ✈️

Let me simply state this: choose somewhere else to eat within this airport. They serve burnt food and have horrible customer service. Not to mention, if they are out of a drink you want… they’ll make you something else without telling you. Well you’ll get served quickly and probably have a better experience if you are white because that’s who the waiters waited on and were friendly to. My tip to this establishment: treat all of your customers the same. John & Denise, if you both only like serving and interacting with white people and don’t like your job find another one!

I don’t like when menu missed prices on alcohol because you never know how much you will be charged for drinks, so I asked prices and I felt unsatisfied by tone of bartender. Service isn’t the best but they offer good amount of alcohol for that price

This was a great spot to spend several hours awaiting my flight. The bartender was attentive and friendly, and her recommendation to order the red beans and rice with fried chicken was a spot on. The red beans and rice were crazy good (not like average airport food although the chicken was so-so).

Very loud, heavy/punk style music, just what you need to relax too between flights. Bar staff not the most welcoming, if you want a table don't sit here. Waiter, when you ask for a burger to come "medium" , his reply "it comes as it comes". Obvioulsy communication skills here are limited. Maybe the music got to their grey matter. Only upside, it was close to the gate.

I had a bowl of gumbo, it was just ok. Their Sazerac cocktail was not good and was $17.60. I understand airport prices but it completely wasn’t worth it. My waiter was friendly but service was extremely slow. I fly out of MSY one or twice a month and I will not be returning.

We were catching a Southwest flight home to Las Vegas, but had a little bit of time. We tried to sit at the bar, but the bar patrons definitely use up stools to put their bags on so we had no choice but to sit at one of the tables. The tables are Community seating with chargers for your electronics. Hopefully management sees this, and maybe tries to do something about freeing up the barstools from being luggage racks. Our waitress was very friendly and fast. We had a few cocktails. My spouse had the gumbo, which he said was very good. I had the shrimp basket. I was expecting an appetizer portion because of the low price, but was very pleasantly surprised when a full meal of fried shrimp, and french fries came out. The shrimp were fried, but very light. The french fries were insanely good. My spouse actually said it was the best french fries he has ever had.

This place was near our departure gate so we decided to eat here before takeoff. Overall the food and drinks were decent. The seating was good and the ambiance was cool. The service was prompt, no major complaints.

It's 5 am in the morning all I want is some in my cup. Well the charge was $2.50 not to mention that this should be complimentary considering YOU'RE TRAVELING through the airport and you're already being charged extra fees plus the tax. Other airports that I travel to give you the ice for free. I believe the bartender needs to be perky and not dry or uninviting with her face, it's 5am people are ordering drinks

Pretty chill bar inside the MSY airport. Great service with a waitress walking around taking drink orders. Appears to be always crowded at the bars. Pretty good seating for the most part

Nice food. Slow service unless your at the bar. The royal STREET FIzz is a nice simple refreshing drink. The wings are 6 to a platter but tasty. And good flavor. Not too spicy Not good presentation they serve it on a plastic container

Nice looking trendy bar for the MSY Airport in New Orleans. It was close to where our gate was & I tried to get a glass of Pinot Grigio but they were totally out of both kinds. I got a mixed drink that tasted fine, not much alcohol though & was $19 with tip. The Sazerac is over $17 before tip. Obviously you pay a ton in airports. I did not order food.

The Irish Coffee was OK. Needed whipped cream. I felt like I was drinking hotel coffee with a shot of whiskey.

My partner is the trans woman who a lot of folks have kindly come here to defend - she went to get me a margarita cos I was stuck in a wheelchair and when my partner showed her ID to Tiffany she joked - as she usually does - not to look at the photo too closely because she still has a beard in it. Tiffany proceeded to call her "sir," despite the fact she was wearing a short polka dotted dress and a church lady hat - and when my partner corrected Tiffany and said it's miss or ma'am, Tiffany responded, "that's what it says on your ID." My partner is not unaccustomed to being misgendered, it was just Tiffany's aggressive refusal to accept the correction that resulted in these reviews - along with what happened next. My partner said to Tiffany, "don't you know it's pride month?" and Tiffany responded that she didn't know anything about that. The margaritas were highlighter yellow which was kinda weird, but my partner tipped $20 on a $30 tab anyway and left a note to buy a book since she appears to be highly uneducated on the existence of queer people.

Assume I sat at bar a shift change, ordered my drink twice but never came after 15 mins. Finally moved on. This was a first here.

Denise is rude. She did not greet us, but in a brusque tone stated "Y'all eating?" Do note, I was not the only person bristled by her behavior. Not sure why she could not verify the difference between the classic and blackened burger ~insert hand gesture~ "I don't know, it's a burger. " At that point, she turned towards the TV, as if she were bored or annoyed that I asked a question. We will not stop here again, especially if Denise is the server.

I wouldn't know about the food. We sat down at a table while a server was standing at the next table. (She did see us.) Only two servers and of course a packed seating area. After about 15 minutes I went to the bar to order as the people next to us said they did. I was told to wait for a server. I told her they haven't been over. No response. So we left after another 5 minutes.

ELAINE had extremely horrible customer service, we were at the terminal at 3:30 and saw someone go up and order a drink even though the hours of business says it closed at 12am. I asked Elaine if the bar was taking any more orders and she replied "does it look like it" and I was caught off guard, then she said "well don't you see her with a drink". Like ma'am it is early in the morning and we just went through horrible TSA, why do you have an attitude. Please get better employees because the airport is hard enough, your employees don't have to make it worse for people.

I was charged $25.50 for one glass of red wine. This seems like I was scammed. My tab was $60 after two glasses of wine with my appetizer of chili glazed chicken wings. Overall I spent $72.80, this is unacceptable.

If I could leave no stars, I would. Denise was super rude. Bar Sazerac said they could not make us a Vieux Carre or other Sazerac drinks. Mean, nasty bartenders and servers.

For airport food and drink, it's actually alright. Drinks are strong and the food is yummy from Dook's next door. The prices aren't too bad for the airport either. Perfect place to get a Bloody Mary and wait for your flight. Service is a little slow but not the worst.

This was the worse service I have had in my life. I hope New Orleans has more to offer. This Bartender Dilma walked right pass me to help a white woman. I said I am sorry I was here first. She didnt look at me but told me she was not working. I said you just rang up this lady and took her credit card. I said and I told you I was here. This is racist. She said I have black friends. Since when does having black friends make you not racist. That is a racist comment. I waited and spoke with general manager Sean Gavigan. I will follow up with an email. A new airport is nothing if you have the worst people working. It all defeats the purpose of being new. Do yourself a favor and eat before you arrive. She is horrible. This bar gets No Star but I have to push something. Classless.

Santiago absolutely made my day. Kind, attentive, and works hard at his job.

For being in an airport and knowing everyone is on a schedule...the service is at a snails pace. Our burger and sweet potato fries came out before our drinks. Our glass of water made it out mid-meal. When 2 other friends joined us, the server never asked them if they wanted to order, and then she disappeared and no one else ever waited on us. The up side- the burger was actually pretty good and I would stop back just for that...which is in 3 weeks when I pass through again.

This place is way better the its current rating. Cocktails are excellent as far as airport bars go. Glad our bartender told us to stay away from the frozen fish Patty used in the sandwich. Red beans & rice weren't half bad and wings were on point. Grading on a curve, considering it's at an airport, this place is pretty good.

Had an absolutely HORRENDOUS experience with the bartender Denise T as well as another bartender. DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE. We sat for over 15 minutes at 8:20 PM DIRECTLY AT THE BAR TOP IN FRONT OF HER REGISTER when the airport was virtually empty. Which, not the end of the world by any means, we are totally ok with waiting. However, there were probably 12 people max sitting around the bar- all with full drinks and she appeared to be only serving the walk up well station. So we assumed that may be where you were supposed to order instead. When she finally circled back around to her register, still not acknowledging us- I asked her if it was best to go to the walk up well service area to order or if she was still taking orders from patrons sitting bar top. She gave an extremely exasperated and aggressive look and, without even answering the question retorted, "I HAVE A FULL BAR TOP HERE!" and, no joke WALKED OFF FROM US My husband, upset by the rudeness, said "Orrrr you can just make a snotty face and ignore us??" So she comes stomping over in front of my husband and and demands he repeat himself, which he did. She said "I will be right back!!" And left- I assumed she would return with a manager, but no- girl just decided to go take a break and leave the rest of her "full bar" to wait From someone that bartended high volume bars and service industry for 15+ Years- this brief recap of this person's absurd behavior is by far one of the most ridiculous things I've seen. In 30 years I have NEVER not tipped a server/bartender. You could basically spit in my food and I would still tip 10%. The ridiculous condensed version of this and how she conducted herself is how this person received the first bit fat ZERO I've ever placed on a tab. Denise, you SUCK!

The bar looks nice, but is not. A perfectly nice Sazerac ruined by a plastic cup. A terrible, cold, microwaved burger that neighboring Dook's served (again in a plastic to go container), and should be ashamed of. Not a nice "sit down" option. I know it's the airport, but sheesh.

Terrible service!! Our server disappeared and we had no idea where she went. never asked if we needed more drinks, and was argumentative and I get it, it's an airport restaurant. You deal with people all day but if you can provide customer service then don't be in the service industry! We almost missed our boarding waiting for her! DO BETTER!

PATHETIC and a very racist attitude of the Spanish lady , Dilma at the bar.Extremely rude in her behaviour and would snap at you at anything you may ask her. All she cared was for the bill to be prepaid when asking for an order.Only reason we ended up eating here was because every other restaurant was closed for some reason at the airport. I want to add that the food was very good to be fair to the chef. Will strongly advice to avoid this place purely on account of the lady called Dilma who works the bar with the racist and pathetic attitude. While posting this review I realised that there are so many other reviews of her in the same fashion.I sincerely hope they terminate people like her who cause trouble to all travellers at the MSY.

We had great service here while awaiting our flight. The bartender was professional with a good attitude and definitely made a great drink! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which tasted fresh and had a good flavor. It's possible all of the bad reviews are while they were working out the kinks after the remodel but wouldn't assume. We had a good experience and would recommend trying it again.

Impossibly bad burgers. It's almost worth ordering one just to see how bad a burger can actually get. I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out from around the corner telling me I've been Punked.

What can I say? My bartender Denise had a difficult customer before me and then decided to be rude when I didn't care for the burger I ordered and asked that it be taken off the bill. I took all of two bites and placed it back in the box and asked for it to be thrown away. She did not bother to ask why I wasn't eating it or making faces, clear indicators that I did NOT care for the dish. The nasty attitude and back talk from her ("well everybody else likes it") kept me from ordering the regular burger and continuing to drink double crown apples at the bar. I left to a different airport bar so I wouldn't be around such a nasty attitude. I understand dealing with rude customers, but that's just a nasty attitude.

Rude service. When I ordered the shrimp, the server with the short blond hair told me it was horrible. When I asked to order a burger, she told me she couldn't take my order unless I was ordering alcohol then directed me to the wall with a cash register? I have no idea of what she was talking about. Needless to say, I walked away and took my business elsewhere.

Hours are posted until midnight. When we sat down at a table at 8:25PM nobody would serve us or the line of people in the walk up line at the bar. Finally about 8:35 the patrons in line were told they called last call at 8:30PM and that they would not serve anymore. At 8:45PM 2 patrons walked up to the bar in the walk up line and were 2 served 2 shots. I got behind them and the bartender told me they were closed. I asked how and she said they already called last call. The bartenders evidently will only serve select people.

Totally disorganized staff. There was 1 sever on the floor (occasionally). We went to the bar to order drinks after waiting over 10 minutes at our table without seeing a server. Turns out she was behind the bar with 5-6 other people who seemed to be either avoiding eye contact with customers, or spending too much time pecking away at their POS touch screens. Service was so bad, we decided to go to their to-go food counter to order food to take onto the plane. No lids for the paper plates. Cold, over-cooked burger and limp sweet potato fries... hard to ask them to fix it from the tarmac.

Poor service is an understatement, even for an airport bar. Tip them 30% on 4 $15+ drinks for four of us = poor service. Tip them not so well next round, poor service. Don't bother tipping since they expect you wont and even if you do, it wont make a single bit of difference. Of course they measure everything out so you don't get a drop more than you may for, but that's to be expected in an airport terminal bar. Being that this is the only one in the terminal, they know they don't have to do anything even approaching the bare minimum. It took 80+ minutes for them to clean off our table from the group before us. The service is shocking poor. The blonde manager was good and the taller black-haired woman was very nice, but slow. The shorter lady with dark hair was absolutely miserable and I hate that we tipped her in cash twice.

I was completely ignored by the black, male manager (so he could hike his leg up on the bar well and tie his shoes instead) and also two other bartenders. I won't claim "racism" like another review on here (that's false and simply an inaccurate way to get fake attention) but good luck getting any service here. I won't be back.

DENISE IS SO RUDE!!!! I've never ever had someone be so rude to me for absolutely no reason. I asked her if they had white wine (bc it wasn't on the menu or up on the bar) and she said "Are you serious?!?" with the rudest tone and rolled her eyes.

Do not eat the sandwiches. The bread is stale, the meat and cheese taste like they are a few days past their sell point, and the lettuce is beyond wilted. It was our only option at this hour due to COVID, but for future passengers, I recommend just not eating. One redeeming quality is that they came with prepackaged Frito-Lay variety chips.

Got a gin & tonic & friend got cranberry & vodka. We both felt the drinks were watered down. J (server) came over & gave my friend a little extra vodka & explained to a fellow traveler that if we've been drinking in the quarter then we couldn't taste it. I'm 50 years old, I know when a drink is watered down or not. CONSIDERING THE COST OF THE COCKTAIL, AVOID THIS BAR AT THE AIRPORT.

Now I know why this bar only gets one star. Been sitting here for over an hour and not once did any staff come out and bus empties or wipe down tables. For the PRICE of their drinks, they should be doing both constantly. Won't be coming back.

New Orleans finally completed construction on a new airport. I had to travel for business and the new airport has a bunch of new restaurants. I visited Bar Sazerac while waiting on my flight. I started with the mushroom cheeseburger, fries and a rye Manhattan. The burger was perfectly cooked and other patrons seemed to enjoy their food as well. I had a good dining experience at the New MSY International Airport.

It's a very mediocre and overpriced location. The food is the same quality as a Wendy's. Limited options in MSY so this one meets expectations as being just okay.

Terrible service. Waitress turns her back and continues to talk to me as she walks away. Took 15 min to be acknowledged. Threw 3 salad dressings on my table and told me to pick one, that's all she had. Would have been nice to know before I ordered a salad. Table next to me questioned her bill and the waitress walked off talking under her breath and being very disrespectful. Management- Check your staff schedule for 3/10 at 6:45pm. Terrible waitress working the floor. Her name might be Denise as the receipt says but I do t know. She was the only one not wearing a name tag. And your menu does not match your receipt prices and saw a few menus that were different. Fries included, not included. Who knows. So I paid for a side salad thinking no fries and I got both. My neighbor was not so lucky. She thought the salad came with fries because her menu said so but it didn't and the waitress refused to make it right. Hilarious circus over here. Something out of a movie! Update: my neighbor is still waiting for the manager. 20 minutes and still nothing!

This place is junk except for Mrs Kim. When her shift is over the bartenders are invisible and have to beg for a drink!!!! The hamburger tastes like it came out of a microwave with some seasoning on it. I asked for extra fries, the girl said it comes with fries!!! The fancy enticing description on the burgers is nothing but junk like the staff. Would never go back.
