BAR SEN

I am a fan of their original location Ma Der, and wanted to try their new concept. The menu is small and the food comes out fast. The food was good but I need to give it another try since I didn't try their best sellers. I loved the smashed cucumber salad, the fresh beef jerky, and the flavor of the fried chicken. For soup I tried the Suki Yaki, I ate most of it just struggled with the pork belly though thinly sliced, I just needed something less rich. My husband had the cold noodles and loved it. He said the spice builds as you eat it. (We love spicy foods) All in all it was a good experience, the staff is super friendly and helpful. We made reservations because it is usually packed. The restaurant is a bit dark (light-wise), which was fine, but may not be for some. Try them out, be sure to check their hours of operation.

The menu isn’t very large, and while nothing really stood out to me, everything was quite decent. The indoor space is a bit dim, but they also have some outdoor seating. It’s a nice spot for a casual date or to catch up with friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful — they even explained the wines and cocktails in detail, which I really appreciated

BarSen has quickly become one of my favorite spots in OKC! The gluten-free options make it so easy to enjoy a wide variety of dishes without worry. Their broths are incredible—so rich, flavorful, and comforting. The calamari is some of the best I’ve had—crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. On top of that, their drinks are delicious and pair beautifully with the menu. Every visit feels like a treat, and the quality and creativity keep me coming back. Highly recommend! Don't skip the cinnamon roll for dessert (picture attached), and don't let the color intimidate you, it's incredible (though not GF).

We've been here more than 5 times since they’ve opened, and each time is just as amazing as the first. The Kaho Piek noodles are insanely incredible! And the pandan cinnamon roll? It’s not just the best dessert I’ve ever had—it’s the reason I believe in dessert as a concept. 10/10, would eat myself into a food coma again.

Great stuff! **Showstopper below** All the usual right stuff... clean, nice, fun, and delicious. Got the beef jerky with fresh lime (yes) and chili oil (yes yes) - excellent! Spicy pork noodles were real rich and tasted of fresh herbs. Wide noodle to hold all the flavor of the broth chocked full of minced pork. They also offer a kind of fry bread for dipping - get it. Showstopper: I like pandan so of course we got the pandan cinnimon roll. I would go back just for this!! Warm, crunchy, pandany, yuuuuummmmm. They open open at 12, wish it was 11 but they could open at 4 and i'd wait. Next I'll try the red curry vermicelli

Great service, food, and drinks. Started the night off with a cider and a cocktail and both were very well made. Had a few appetizers and would recommend the fried chicken and cucumber salad the most out of what we had. Next, I had the sukiyaki with some chili oil. The pork in the soup was super tender and the accompaniments were excellent. Lastly, we had the pandan cinnamon roll which was just absolutely incredible. Also, 10/10 ambiance.

This place is amazing! I sat at the bar and the vibes were immaculate, thank you Bret and Summer! Very chill and comfy. I started off with the calamari and it was was so delicious, squeeze the lime and mix it all up! YOU HAVE TO! I also had the suki yaki which was also fantastic and made me do a little happy wiggle. Brett recommended the savory donut to dip in the soup and it was an absolute game changer! As for drinks, I had the house old fashioned(Thai tea and coconut) and their twist on a green tea shot! I never want to have a green tea shot any other way! Food is my love language and I’m pretty sure Bar sen just asked me to marry it???? 10/10 recommend and will be back!

I recently dined here and was blown away by the food, the service, and the atmosphere! The interior is so cute and modern with baby photos of the staff + Chef Jeff & his family decorating the walls throughout. Everything was delicious! The chicken & the spicy cucumber salad were phenomenal. My noodle dish was the Khao Poon and it was fabulous, and even reheat well the next day! The cocktails were amazing, but my favorite thing of all might have been the Pandan Cinammon Roll! Holy cow, if you are a cinnamon roll fan, you have to save room for this one! I will definitely be going back for more!

5/5 Bar Sen - NW 16th St, OKC We went to Bar Sen on a Saturday night around 8:30, and the area was packed -- NW 16th is definitely one of the busiest and trendiest spots in OKC right now. Parking was a bit of a mess (as expected), but I eventually found a paid lot nearby for about $6, which was worth it. I dropped off my significant other and our kid at the door first while I circled around, so that helped. Once I got inside, they were already seated, and the atmosphere was lively -- definitely a bar vibe but still family-friendly enough for dinner. My boy got the chicken, my girl had the chicken noodles, and I went with the spicy pork noodles. We also shared the cucumber salad. Everything was fire -- fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount of spicy. Service was great too. The staff kept our big water bottle refilled consistently, which I appreciated since the food had a nice kick. My only small suggestion: turn the music down just a notch. I know it's a bar, but it's also a great place to sit, eat, and talk. When it's hard to hear the person across from you, it takes away a little from the experience. Overall though, the food was excellent, the vibe was fun, and I'll definitely be back.

We've been to Ma Der Lao Kitchen next doors, so kinda knew this was going to be a similar concept with Laos food with the same chef, but more street kind. With all the hype and all the high Yelp reviews, we were excited to go try. Indoors was larger than I anticipated, with a modern bar feel. It was pretty busy considering it was a weekday. Background music was a good volume, keeping the vibe vibrant but we can still chat. Everything was okay, not that much stood out. Hubs said maybe we should've come on the weekend when the main chefs are in. Not sure if we did indeed get the sous chefs this night? The Spicy Cucumber Salad was okay, not that much different than other Asian cucumber salads. They did liberally sprinkle a spicy seasoning over the top. We did expect the food to be somewhat spicy here since it's Laos food, but maybe they could've mixed it. The Chicken Kara-age was a standout. Fried to perfection, we squeezed the lime all over for that special citrus tangy acidity. Didn't even need whatever sauce came with it. The Chicken Noodle Soup (Khao Piek Sen) was okay. The thickness didn't add to the flavor. Quail eggs were so good, could've used a couple more since they are so small. The Sukiyaki Pork Noodle Soup was good. The pork belly was tender and cooked perfectly. Here's my biggest gripe. Once we ordered, our server had asked us if we wanted Chili Oil. We hesitated since this is our first time here and we didn't know. She then said, "I'll bring you some Chili Oil in case you want to make your food more spicy.". We shrugged okay. Our food was spicy enough so we didn't even use it. We did dip our chopstick into it to taste it, but that was about it. When we got our check, they charged us $1.00 for the Chili Oil. Ugh! Granted that $1.00 is not going to break us, but I wished she had been more transparent. That would give us a chance to try the spiciness of the food first and then if we do indeed want it to be more spicy then ask her to bring us some Chili Oil. Just felt deceitful in trying to get a few more bucks in without letting us know.

Amazing food and filling. Has the special massaman coconut curry chicken, the chicken soup, the doughnut, the cucumber salad, the frisée salad, and the two chicken piece starter. The whole meal was fantastic. We sat outside on a warm early fall night and this was a serious good vibe. Service was fantastic and attentive, providing great explanations in the dishes. Regarding the food, the salad was probably my favorite. It was just so fresh, crisp and refreshing and the best salad I've had in a long time. The spicy cucumber salad was also amazing with crisp cucumbers in a very spicy preparation. Three days later I enjoyed the chicken soup. Both chicken dishes were fantastic and the massaman coconut curry chicken dish was served with aromatic rice that resulted in a delicious combination. The whole meal was executed extremely well. This restaurant experience definitely lived up to the hype and cannot wait to go back. Thank you!

I am so so blown away how good Bar Sen was. It was well worth the wait. After my third attempt to eat dinner here I was finally able to grab some food. Between me and the table we had about every noodle soup and they were all pretty solid. None of them stood out because they were all equally good. What did catch my attention were the appetizers. The calamari with its dual flavored sauce and the chicken karage were both excellent. Finally the cherry on top was the cinnamon roll. A beautiful blend of an American asian fusion performed to perfection. I will be back for the roll alone. The service and ambiance set a wonderful mood for any date night and highly recommend for a Friday night.

HITS EVERY TIME!! As a Hmong girl, I'm always on the hunt for Lao dishes. Love this vibe here (except my mom had trouble reading the menu since it's a dark lit setting lol). Sat at the bar and our sever was very sweet. Forgot her name. Food was delish!

Amazing food! We ordered a variety of appetizers including the chicken kara-age which was served with a spicy eggplant dip, the beef jerky, and coconut milk fried chicken. The appetizers were hot and fresh and each had a slightly different flavor profile. The zero-proof cocktails were a game changer. I ordered the Golden hour which was subtly sweet with a perfect hint of sour. The entrees were the star of the show and out server's suggestion of adding the fried bread and enjoying our soups family style was perfect. She brought us extra bowls and plates so we could share and sample everything. The Lao chicken noodles soup has a heavier, richer broth that was so flavorful we couldn't get enough. The thicker rice noodles, shredded chicken, freshness from the herbs and lime, and the crunch from the fried shallots made for the perfect bite. The red chicken curry broth was savory, not super coconut-y and bit spicy, and the perfectly complimented the vermicelli noodles it was paired with. The pandan cinnamon roll rounded out the meal with sweet, cinnamon, fruity goodness with slightly floral hints from the pandan.

Decided to finally try Bar Sen with the family, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the cucumber salad, chicken karage, the pork noodle dish, and the chicken noodle soup with chili oil added. Everything was delicious, the chicken noodle soup was the best I've ever had in my life--so good! I'm glad I only used a quarter of the chili oil, because wow Laotian food is hella spicy, and I'm Korean! Service was great, but I didn't like the loud bar-like atmosphere, but that's what this place is so, can't knock off a star for that. Highly recommend this place 5/5 stars!

We had no idea what to expect when we took a lift to this restaurant. It was hopping. Families, couples, groups of people. An incredibly comfortable atmosphere. We chose to sit outside, the music was louder than I like. Then we could people watch. This is a cuisine am unfamilar with - would like to learn more. I chose the Loa chicken noodle soup - would have it again. My husband had the spicy pork noodles. He also enjoyed. Portions are huge.Reasonable prices. Service is great. Highly recommend!

Bar Sen was highly talked about so of course at some point we had to try it out, I just wasn't expecting to be eating hot soup on a hot day but it was fantastic! I loved the broth, thick house-made rice noodles, and everything else in my bowl. The service was great as well. I would like to try Bar Sen again but on a cold day because I think I would appreciate it even more but still, delicious!

I went by myself on a Saturday around 4:45pm and sat at the bar. I had been doing errands in OKC while starving and was dreading going back to Norman since there was an OU game in town. Madeline was my bartender and as soon as I said it was my first time dining there, she was quick to explain the menu and provide suggestions - what a relief to not even have to ask for those things. I will say that the place is very dark and even with my glasses on it was hard to see in there and read the menu. Cute vibe though with the wallpaper and warm wood furniture. I started with a Coconut flavored beer which sounded kind of gross, but was quite lovely so Madeline did not steer me wrong. I would definitely get it again even though it was $10 which seemed a bit outrageous and why I only ordered one. I also got the cucumber salad which was quite spicy and the pork and noodle soup with this bread she recommended. I am not super familiar with Laotian food, but it all had a kick and the bread was phenomenal, I wish I had ordered two of them. I love that there was lots of finely chopped cilantro and mint in the soup. Portions are also pretty large.

What a great edition to the plaza district! Sister restaurant to Ma Der Lao, it follows in the same footsteps with bold unique flavors that pack a punch! I love trying different cuisines, and loved the dishes! Laotian food is very herby, spicy, and lime forward, so definitely come with an open mind and palate! I will definitely be back to try the rest of the noodle dishes!

We love Ma Der Lao, so of course we had to try its sister restaurant, Bar Sen! Went there for date night and we went EARLY. We got there at 4:55PM, right before they opened and whew - lucky we did! They already had a bit of a line by the time we got there too. Interior of the place is absolutely gorgeous, dark and cozy vibes. We got a few things to try - fried chicken and calamari for appetizers, the spicy pork noodles, and the red curry noodles. Fried chicken was pretty good, and the broth from both noodles was flavorful as well. We ate a little and saved the rest of the noodles for the next day - and I swear, something happens when you save it for the next day! The noodles were extra yummy when we had it for lunch the next day. But our favorite of the night was the pandan cinnamon roll for SURE. The cinnamon roll gets six stars!! The berries, the crumble, that icing. Y'all. My only regret was not bringing more home. A definite must try if you're at Bar Sen!

It took us 3 tries before we could eat here because of how busy they were. Anyway, this is an amazing Laotian noodle shop and neighborhood bar. Our server gave us excellent cocktail recommendations. I tried the Bramble, and it was incredibly refreshing with a generous pour. We also loved the fried chicken appetizer, which was packed with flavor and perfectly crispy. For the main dish, I had the Khao Piek Sen, which was well-made, aromatic and served in a larger portion than I had at Ma Der Lao. The broth was flavorful and the meat was so tender. Overall, it was a great meal, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving delicious Laotian noodle soup but come in on a weekday so you don't have to deal with the wait.

No drops were left in our bowls. That is how I am purposely starting this review. For our GNO we wanted to try a new place. The ambiance was very relaxing and the service was spot on. The broth was pure BLISS. I love pho and ramen but this noodle bowl beat all prior bowls I have experienced. It was a hot summer day but the rich and umami taste was just what we needed. I can't wait to visit again and try another bowl.

The calamari is great- a tad salty but packs a punch of nice flavors. I was disappointed with my chicken noodle soup as the broth was rather gelatinous suggesting they did not strain out the bones from the broth soon enough. For this reason, I'd say choose another soup. Ambiance inside- super cozy. Outside- not great. Service- very friendly.

Walked in and had a 30 minute wait so ordered brumble at the bar which was refreshing and sour. Atmosphere had dim lighting with floral wallpaper. Service was excellent as well. Ordered chicken leg and thigh which was crispy and tangy. Khao soi was good and a decent portion! Bf got Khao poon and he said it was good and coconuty. We got chili oil to add to the soup too to get that spice. Got pandan cinnamon roll for dessert which I like topped with strawberries. Overall definitely will be back to try other dishes.

The aesthetic was lovely! Gorgeous decor, family photos in the hall, which I thought was a cute touch. The bathroom was spectacular and they had feminine products available, so bonus points there. When we entered the host was very welcoming and the servers were attentive and knew the menu items well. I only ordered the calamari. I enjoyed the flavors of the sauces with it and it was fried well. My husband ordered the chicken noodles and said it tasted like a way better and more flavorful chicken noodle soup. He added that he would return especially if sick. I enjoy the simple and small menu and hope in time a seafood noodle dish is added. The staff looked like they enjoyed working there.

Run, don't walk here if you haven't tried it yet. It's amazing! Comforting and savory. The calamari is a must! The noodles were delicious and the broth has so much depth. The chef is a culinary genius and I can't wait to come back and try more.

Only had drinks and the pandan cinnamon roll but both were fantastic. The ambiance is very modern and hip. Dimly lit and vibrant. They have a decent sake selection which was pleasantly surprising too!

Bar sen really does live up to the hype. I woke up this morning after going there for the first time and i couldn't wait to eat my leftovers and dreamt of the next time i could go. The chicken noodle soup is seriously so good and filling

Unbelievable! The scalp crudo was the best I've ever had. I would come back for that alone. But then I got my chicken noodle soup. I'm a sucker for a think hand made noodle. These had the most wonderful texture. the broth was thick and incredibly flavorful. I opted to add the chili oil and danggg was it spicy. A perfect compliment. The man next to me got the pandan roll. It looked like it belonged in a movie. He was so kind and offered me a bite. Another 10/10. The whole experience made my day.

Food was good but there was a long wait between our apps & entrees. I feel like the food was kind of pricey. The eggplant jam that came along with the chicken karaage was really good. I was not able to taste or smell the pandan from the pandan cinnamon roll. But it was good as it was not very sweet.

If you love Ma Der you'll love Bar Sen. if you love Chef Jeff, then you'll love whatever his staff cooks for you. If you love good food, you'll love Bar Sen. stop reading this and go eat there.

You know it. You love it. You have to get it. Now that the big crowds have died down, my friend and I were able to stop in and had great, quick service. We got the lao chicken noodle soup (obviously) and tried the saki yuki noodles. We got little bowls on the side to share each dish. Always so good and so fresh, packed with flavor. Need to come back and try some cocktails!!

Okay I rarely say this but 10/10 on food, service and ambiance. The owners blew it out of the water. Everything we had was delicious, we also had soups but phone did not eat first so unfortunately I didn't get a pic of that. However, I did get pictures of the app we had & dessert. Everything was delicious. Just know that you'll probably have to wait if you go later in the evening during rush hour for restaurants.

We walked in without a reservation and were quickly seated. The ambiance of this restaurant is nice, with a cool mural on the wall. The food was excellent. As a vegetarian, I had no problem choosing a delicious dish, along with the donut appetizer and the unique dessert pictured below. Highly recommend! First time trying Laotian food.

I may be bias because I've known Jeff and his family since childhood but I can tell you that Jeff took Bar Sen to another level when it comes to classic Lao food. But first lets talk about the drinks; Started with the old fashion classic, the twist here is it had Thai tea flavor, can definitely taste it on the aftertaste (5/5). I also tried the espresso martini, wasn't my fave but it kept the vibes going. (4/5). For small bites, we tried it all and my absolute favorites are the 2pc Leg &Thigh, beef jerky, spicy cucumber salad and the fried calamari. The 2pc leg & thigh is straight fire. IMO, better than Ma Der (sister restaurant) if you've had it there. Now to the mains.. the khao piek sen brought back memories of me eating this as a kid. #lifehack, the bowl comes out steaming hot, if you don't want to burn your tongue then take a piece of ice cube and put it in the soup for a few seconds and then take it out. You'll be able to slurp in no time. I usually eat with pork blood and chicken feet but for some reason went with just patongo. (5/5) I'll have to come back to try the other soups but my sister's did enjoy the suki yaki and khao Soi. Lastly, dessert and I'll just tell you go ahead and order two cause you definitely want to take one home. This was amazing. The cinnamon roll is huge and the pandan flavor was there. The citrus from the fruits gave it a nice touch of acidity to mellow the sweetness. It was perfect! I'm dreaming about it now lol Overall, I had a great time. It does get busy quick and they don't take reservations so I would try to go on a weekday cause weekends can be crazy. If not, save a spot and then head to Ma Der for some drinks.

While the food was SENSATIONAL, the service WAS NOT. I had to ask the server for my drink (Diet Coke) twice and for some condiments twice as well. The bar is a good size but is VERY loud. The kitchen smacks you in the face when you first walk in the door. With that said, there is a fly problem. As I was eating my amazing chicken noodle soup, one of the little pests decided he wanted to try my soup as well......not the protein I was expecting. After I spooned him out and put him on a side plate I let the server know......pointed out the fly to her.....she left the side plate on the table while we were still trying to enjoy our evening. As much as I want to give this place 5 stars.....I cannot...... but the food is ridiculously good.

Amazing place, service, and food. The fried calamari appetizer was tender, with just a slight hint of spice. Cucumber appetizer was fresh and had a good sauce. I had the Khao Piek Sen with the patongo for dipping (as recommended by our server) and it was fantastic. It was better than the time my granny and her arch nemesis, Muriel, were competing for the best chicken noodle soup recipe at the state fair. As they were approaching the judges, they both tripped, pots flying into the air, miraculously combining portions of both into a single bowl on the judges table. As they both fought over who caused the tragedy, the taste-testing judges slurped it down by spoonfuls, and after finishing the whole bowl, awarding them a co-blue ribbon! Now granny and Muriel are besties and I'm at Bar Sen eating soup that would've put their blue ribbon to shame - don't tell granny...

The food was really awesome! We got the salad, fried chicken, fried calamari for appetizer, they all came out really fast and the food was great! The noodles were really tasty. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were really friendly and attentive. The drinks were great. We went on the 2nd day opening so we were expected to wait because we knew it was going to be busy.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL food!! I'm in love and can't wait to go back already!! It was so good I wanted to order some to go for my boyfriend -- it was about 10:51 and the restaurant closed at 11. I was slightly disappointed the server (kenji, who was amazing also) told us the kitchen was closed before the restaurant even was. But regardless it was amazing and I will be back!!! It wasn't Kenji's fault about the kitchen though and he did a spectacular job! We got a marg and cosmo and they were also awesome!

Every dish bursts with flavor, clearly crafted with care and rooted in Lao culinary tradition. The Khao Piek Sen (Lao chicken noodle soup) is a standout--comforting, rich, and deeply satisfying. We also loved the fried chicken leg and thigh and the red curry vermicelli, each dish offering a unique and memorable flavor profile. We topped it all off with the pandan cinnamon roll and berries. We loved it so much, we came back twice this week --and it was just as amazing. Bar Sen is the kind of place that makes you want to bring friends, linger over cocktails, and try everything on the menu. A must-visit for anyone who loves bold flavors and a welcoming atmosphere

Bar Sen is finally open and it is truly epic AF! Supremely delicious noodle soup dishes and appetizers, Bomb desserts (the pandan cinnamon roll is off the charts), a full bar with every alcoholic libation imaginable, including a great cider drink, and plenty of seating in a charming as well as romantic, dimly-lit interior atmosphere full of intrigue and mystery. I got the sukiyaki ($17) - full of flavor with glass-like bean thread noodles and plenty of veggies) as well as the cucumber salad that had a spicy dressing that was amazing and so good & tasty I used it on the other Laotian salad I ordered. Also the 2 pc fried chicken appetizer was amazeballs - accompanied with a lime having spices sprinkled on it and cooked greens, it had a truly unique and memorable kick and crunch! The kicker was the pandan cinnamon roll - and my server & bartender Emily said every single table ordered it last night when they opened. Excellent and prompt service, especially from Emily. I was telling Chef Jeff Chanchaleune that this place was going to be a true hit, because every time I go to Ma Der Lao I miss the "noodle days" serving Khao Poon on Tuesdays and Khao Soi on Thursdays, so a place dedicated to just noodles will be truly successful. Congrats to Jeff on opening up a truly exceptional restaurant/bar, and you mush RUSH here to try it out!

Came in late on a Friday night and plenty of tables open. There were three of us and we had the calamari, one of the salads, and three different soups. All were amazing and so was the service. Jeff's two restaurants are our favorites in OKC.

Hannah was a gem!! I love the vibes here and the drink was so good. Definitely coming back for that fried chicken!!

OMG, this place is so good. The flavors are immaculate. There is nothing bad that I can say about this place. I'm a huge fan and I support any dish they put out!! staff was really nice! Also, they're green tea shot was so good!! The best I ever had!!

Can't say enough good things about the amazing service, seductive vibes & delicious food!! Such a sexy yet casual environment. Each cocktail was unique & also delectable. Some of the dishes are specials from the sister spot, Ma Der. But the new items are also soooo yummy!! That pandan cinnamon roll dessert has to do be devoured in it'entirely!!

The food was IMPECCABLE! The Leg and Thigh which were SO juicy and flavorful, and imo, MUCH more flavorful than next door (with I didn't imagine possible). The lao salad was good, I am told, as my partner devoured it. PHENOMENAL nudes and the chili oil added was chef's kiss ‍ The cinnamon roll..... just, o.m.g. I am NOT big on desert, and it was ahhhhhhhmazing!

Such a swanky little spot. The soups were fantastic. We had the Khao Piek Sen (chicken noodle) and Suki Yaki (peanut pork with bean noodles) and y'all. World class cuisine in OKC. It's new and it's poppin' so get on the list early and enjoy some of the retail spots in the Plaza district!

Chef Jeff and his team knocked this concept out of the park! We arrived around 5:00 on a Friday and opted to sit at the bar. Service was exceptional - we were given space to look at the food and drink menu, bartender was attentive but not pushy. Everyone around us was quick to offer their suggestions of menu items but we came prepared and ready to order. Fried Calamari, Beef Jerky- appetizers Khao Piek Sen (chicken noodle) OG Lao Khao Soi (spicy pork noodles) Pandan Cinnamon Roll*** very delicious I loved everything. Flavorful infusions, the cocktails were beautifully crafted and boozy (lots of talent behind the bar here!). By the end of the meal we had packaged up our leftovers from soups, and opted to take the cinnamon roll to go (we were too full to eat it at the time). Another amazing concept by Chef Jef and team. Absolutely check this place out!

Food. The food is awesome. The Lao Khao Soi has about a 5/10 spice level, but it is jam packed with flavor. The minced pork is well seasoned and has a little kick to it. If you're getting a bowl as your entree, I highly recommend adding a patongo to scoop some of the broth with. The freaking Pandan cinnamon roll... holy cow... this is a must have. One of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. Drinks. An amazing offering of both classic and house cocktails. The house margarita is my favorite. Who knew that green curry would work so well in a margarita. Service. The service is great. The host and the servers are very friendly and the bartenders are freaking awesome. Ambiance. Very inviting with a dimly lit bar with a low lit dining area. Very intimate for a date night or if you simply want to grab a bowl and a cocktail.

Bar Sen just feels right. Sitting next to Ma Der Lao Kitchen, it's the perfect complement--great drinks, amazing food, and an effortlessly cool atmosphere. The drinks were a hit across the board. The Bramble was the table favorite, an absolute must-try. Even in January, the frozen Southeast Side was a winner. But the mezcal shot with a broth chaser? That was next-level. Food-wise, everything slapped. The chicken was so good that we immediately realized--everyone needs their own piece, or there will be regrets. The calamari? Completely gone. Not a single drop of jaew sauce left. Then came the Suki Yaki noodle soup. I've had all the noodle specials at Ma Der, but this one was new to me--and it might be my new favorite. I like to sip the broth first before mixing everything together. So good. And just when we thought we were done, the pandan cinnamon roll showed up. Perfectly sweet but not too sweet. The kind of dessert that makes you glad you saved room. Bar Sen isn't just a place to grab a drink. It's an experience. Go with friends, order a little bit of everything, and enjoy.
