Montreal’s Best Sports Bars | Eater Montreal

"Frappé is a no-frills kind of place for cheap beer and regular screenings of Habs and soccer games (and more). You can watch the game outside in the summer, courtesy of the bar’s semi-rooftop terrasse." - Eater Staff

This place used to be one of my favourite bars. Now they literally force you to give a tip (18% and above) otherwise they reject your payment. The bartender (dark haired woman was very rude). DONT GO HERE

Ines Blondet

Google
Good sports bar, no food but they let you bring from outside. Decent drinks and reasonable price. Pool tables are a nice addon

Lindsay - Bartendress at this gorgeous pool hall in Montréal has the best playlists. She is super amazing as is the pool play!

Nandini Mukherjee

Google
good place to play because they have 10018272729 pool tables which is a rarity in montreal for some reason. the bartender with the piercing and eyeliner though is super mean and has made me and my friends feel very unwelcome every time we come to play pool 😿

Google
Great atmosphere! We loved the game tables, the slot machines, and the claw machine. We encountered a stranger on the street who recommended it to us, and it did not disappoint!

Google
At first the atmosphere was great, but after we ordered my friend received a poorly made drink. Than the most disappointing point was are reason for going (to play pool). We reserved a table, than when it was our turn people started to lie and say they were up. Basically whoever had the bigger group of friends would play pool. Also the bouncer would favorite other people over you if you were “new” to the bar. We ended up waiting for a pool table for 2 hours and then decided to leave disappointed. Definitely do not recommend and will not come back.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I called this place to ask about watching the game and booking a table. The guy on the phone tells me it's first come, first serve, so I simply ask, "Okay, is it busy right now? Should we come soon?” and this man HANGS UP ON ME. No answer, no goodbye, just straight up hangs up like he's doing me a favor. Absolutely rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. If this is how they treat potential customers over the phone, I can't imagine what the service is like in person. Hard pass. Don’t waste your time here.

Yelp
5 Pool tables , electronic gaming, good bar staff , really friendly people, great soundtrack

Yelp
The drinks are tasteless and the presentation poor, not worth the price and they have no menu. The blonde waitress is petulant and unpleasant, she made the decadent atmosphere of the bar even worse.

Yelp
I came here once to see a world cup game on their terrace (Mexico vs Brazil). It wasn't too shabby. I just thought they were a bit lacking in the screens department. On the first floor they have pool tables and a screen above the bar and upstairs they have the mini terrace and about 3 screens indoor. Service is fast though and their sangria was very strong. I ordered the peach flavour in a pitcher to share. Cash only and they don't have any food so they let you bring in your own. However they also don't serve that many drink options but don't let you bring in any.

Yelp
I had been looking for a place to play pool. Most halls were already occupied by large groups, which meant I could be waiting for hours to play. However, we stumbled across this place as we had almost given up hope to play pool! We entered and the bartender told us the POOL WAS FREE! (We went on a Tuesday night around 9PM). My day was made and we had a pool table to ourselves until around 12AM. Come here please! It's not too crowded and the atmosphere is very casual. The DJ is a little older, so his music wasn't really my type.. but he tried. I honestly had a great time. The drinks here are still pretty expensive, but if you want to play pool... I highly recommend this place! (There are 5 tables!!)

Yelp
Lost debit card yesterday on visit to Montreal. Someone on staff here helpfully let someone empty my account doing multiple, sequential small value charges. Obvious fraud - no chance the even dollar amount withdrawals all within a minute or so weren't something to question. Hope you got a big tip for helping them empty my account and ruin my weekend visit to Montreal. Keep the records, I'm sure the SPVM will want to know who helped the thief out.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this bar by accident. It was the World Cup 2014 and Chile was playing the Netherlands (The Dutchmen won!). We followed a woman wearing the Chile flag to this bar and joined dozens of Chileans in watching the game. The bar was your normal bar with tons of seating and a decent drink list. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and it was a little watered down. Each table gets a free bowl of shelled peanuts which is cool. The service was great!

Yelp
Nothing beats free billiards! Ran into this place after walking home from dinner to find out that they had free pool all night! We went on a Tuesday night, but but not sure if they run that promotion every night or not. The DJ they had going could definitely use some work though...

Yelp
At a work event at cafe bar St-Laurent Frappe to promote my work's ride to conquer cancer. The bar is quaint and not too noisy so one can hear the person the person talking to them. The alcohol is reasonably priced.

Yelp
Great place fun to play some pool and watch a soccer game. Friendly Staff. If you pass around I suggest you take a look. Try the sangria, its strong and price is ok for a pichet

Yelp
Awful experience. First night of university, someone coerced me into rolling through this dive. Five bucks for a bottle of Labatt and the bartender didn't even open it for me. He also nothing short of DEMANDED tips from us. I think he thought we had never been in a bar or any service-oriented establishment before, because he sure treated us like a bunch of little kids. I've heard that that sort of thing isn't an atypical experience there. I know one of my friends actually went back to meet with the manager about this guy. Never went back to see if they did anything about it. With all the options on St-Laurent, this one is not worth your time or money. One positive thing though: They did have a cool open rooftop.

Yelp
Loved it. Went with my friends who knew the bartender the nights we went (Sunday & Monday 8/5/12 & 8/6/12) and we was awesome. They had a drink special of Labatt, 2 for $8. 2 of us went through 24 in 30 minutes...ugh I love Montreal beer!!! Anyway, the outdoor patio is spacious and a lot of fun, and there's a little dance floor where you can get your boogy on. It was quite active and the music was fun and we all had a great time. I'd definitely go again - but with my friends of course. My only gripe is that when I went to the bathroom, twice 2 men came out of the same stall....I mean...yuck.

Yelp
Local sporty dive bar. Pool tables. Not much to see here. Frappe has been around for ages, but the only reason I ever drop it is because it's literally around the corner from my place. It's fine enough for a game of pool or to watch the game, but it's not really the kind of place that you'd want to meet up with friends at for drinks.

Yelp
Hate that my friends love this bar. Pitchers are expensive. They typically play loud dance music, but do not have a dance floor. I think they do that just to try and pull people in walking St. Laurent. If they played rock music it would definitely fit the establishment better. They have lots of pool tables, but you have to put up with their obnoxious music. Many better bars in town. Skip it.

Yelp
Bartenders are social and provide a good service. Cocktails don't taste like watered down crap. Showed up on several of their student nights and had a blast. Plenty of quality foosball players. Free pool nights on Monday. The Dj for the student nights was very good. The second floor terrace is spacious and loads of fun, especially when beer pong tables have been set up ( there are also beer pong tables on the first floor). Been there at least 50 times in the past 3 months.

Yelp
Went there to watch a few soccer games, we were the only people there, about 20 minutes before the kick off of the first game... the owner approached us to get an order. My gf asked for a latte and I said I would have a drink when the game started. The guy started yelling at us saying that this was a business and how could we come in and not order. I told him I was just waiting for the game to start to get drinks but he continued yelling at us. We decided to leave, and found a much better place to watch the games. We had also been there the day before...a drunk client got aggressive and the owner decided to get into a fist fight with him. Bad experience overall, there are better sports bars with much better service all around Montréal.

Yelp
Dive bar on boulevard Staint Laurent in Montreal across from the Schwartz. Main floor level bartender man definitely wishes he was elsewhere and is as personable as moss. Full pints $6 so not bad. Excellent street view from inside except they only have a few stools along the window. Pool tables take up this valuable real estate. Not how I would plan things, but this place is not for tourists anyways, its for locals. Still a good spot along the window to take a load off and recharge for another long walk. Supposed to be a dive sports bar with soccer emphasis. There is an upstairs with outdoor patio for smokers and separate nightclubesque bartender gal up there so maybe upstairs is for younger crowd?
