Where to Eat and Drink at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) | Eater

"A casual restaurant from chef Michael Symon (Lola, B Spot, Food Network) serving Cleveland-centric bar food and drinks; notable offerings include a surprisingly good bloody mary, excellent dry-rub wings, and menu items such as burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and pierogies." - Missy Frederick

I always make a point to stop in here for a bite to eat when I can, preferably for breakfast. It’s convenient, and far quieter than the food court near security. Every time I come in, this app is very friendly and accommodating. The chefs are pro when it comes to quality food in short order. My eggs are always perfect, the bacon is always crispy, and the latkes are amazing. You read that right. They offer miniature latkes as potatoes with your breakfast. They are really hard to beat. Give them a try!

Good place to wait for a flight. Got the pina colada sangria, refreshing. The poutine fries is made with sausage gravy with rosemary fries, I like the sausage gravy idea but don’t really see any sausage and the rosemary fries just fries with a hand-full of rosemary just lay underneath the fries. Not the poutine fries I expected, it’s ok.

Google
As airport bars go, it's fine. The service was a little slow after I got seated and the food selection isn't great but the quality of the food is good. The size of the side of fries is frankly ridiculous and should serve two people. Solo travellers wanting a burger and fries will end up with more food than a human being needs before a flight. I left a lot of fries uneaten. This isn't a compliant address much as it is a heads up to others.

Google
Very very well put together and tasty smash bacon burger. Crispy bacon, just the right amount of lettuce and onions so it wasn’t overwhelming to eat. The special sauce seemed mayo based and was super good and a good amount to not need any other condiment (I’m normally a ketchup “dipper”). Parm fries were loaded with Parm and very excellent. I’d definitely eat here again.

Google
Coffee was good, parm fries were good. Biscuits and gravy tasted like they came from my hospital cafeteria. Service was fantastic. Was extremely disappointed, had very high hopes for this place after seeing Mr.Symon on food network for years.

Google
Menu without prices. Salad not properly cut. Didn’t recognize the LoungeKey until I pushed them.

Google
On my way to Chicago from Cleveland Hopkins airport my gate was right next to Bar Symon never heard of it before I had no idea …just plopped down at the bar order cobb salad and a sprite. The salad was enormous and every ingredient on there was fresh. The restaurant itself is clean and the staff is professional, and very friendly prices are excellent as well.

Google
Had the smash burger and fries. The fries were an extra charge. Root beer was available for my beverage. Service was fast and friendly. The server followed up several times. Perfect place to stop and relax before your flight.

Yelp
Turkey sandwich was great! Fries remind me of steak and shake fries!! Not overly priced, super quick service, server was nice! Will stop back for a quick hot meal before a flight again

Yelp
I've been to this location a few times. Considering it is an airport restaurant....good choice. The first time I ate here they had just announced a new limited time special and it was the Reuben sandwich. I got that with the parmesan fries. It was absolutely outstanding! Perfectly cooked, fries were excellent, sandwich was perfectly toasted and inside was melty cheesy goodness. I would rate the place a 5+ stars based on that visit. I was so excited when I was back 6 weeks later that I went in and got the same thing and it was not toasted well, the cheese was not melted and the ratios of the sandwich were off. I would have given the restaurant a 2 out of 5 for that. Next time they no longer had the reuben....bummer. So I got a bacon smashburger. It was good....the parmesan rosemary fries always hit. I'd say average is about 3.75 stars. Going there again tonight so I'll leave an update.

Yelp
Clean place and fast, friendly service The eggs are real, cheese is melty w veggies The hash browns are flavored however a little greasy Food came in 7mind from ordering

Yelp
I love having such good food for breakfast at the airport. They open early (we ate at 6:30 AM) Tsalmon was delicious and the potato pancakes were crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the I side. The nice mimosa was the perfect combo for my flight home.
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
Traveling through Cleveland airport and needed a keto diet. The perfect solution in the poutine. Bartender was good to ask what type of beer I like to pick out a good local beer. Definitely recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
Not worth it at all. Our server was non existent, food and drinks haphazardly thrown together, and everything was extremely overpriced. Paid like $75 for 2 drinks and 3 items that was incredibly subpar. Good thing we had priority pass and $56 dollars of that was paid for... otherwise I'd be even more annoyed. Food: 4/10 Vibes: 4/10 Service: 2/10 Value: 2/10

Yelp
BIG portions. Decent airport food! I was pleasantly surprised. Service was quick and kind. If you sit by the rails that line the restaurant there are outlets on the rails so you can charge your devices. Super convenient. I split the kale caesar salad and the maple bacon wings. Both were enjoyable! Kale didn't taste bitter and the dressing was tasty. Wings were crunchy and the dry rub was very good. Almost a "sugary" coating, but in a good way. All of the dishes that I saw looked pretty good. A good location for a sit down meal at an airport.
google avatar

Donald T.

Yelp
Currently works with Priority Pass for $28 off but make sure you still tip your server. Honestly hard to reach that amount

Josh S.

Yelp
I think the establishment suffers from overwhelming expectations. We were excited to visit Michael Symon restaurants while in Cleveland, but unfortunately this is just a basic airport eatery. The food wasn't bad, the restaurant was clean and the servers were pleasant. If I went in with airport food expectations, I would have been fine. It works if you are looking for bite during a layover, just not iron chef material.

Yelp
Had a couple hours to kill before my flight going back home to Phoenix so I decided hit this place up since it was almost dinner time. Stood at the entrance for a couple minutes before one of the servers sat me down in the corner. Ordered the Sweet Sriracha Wings and Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The Sweet Sriracha Wings($15.99) were surprisingly very good for airport food. The 8 pieces I got were a perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. I don't know why more restaurants that serve wings don't have this sauce as an option. It's basically just honey and sriracha. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich($13.99) was super good! What made this sandwich really stand out was the sourdough bread they had it on. It was buttered and grilled to a crispy perfection! Every bite I was savoring and oh, the chicken was not so bad either. Service was a bit slow. My server checked on me only a couple times. I needed a refill on my water and had to wait awhile before it got done. Lastly, getting the check took some time as well. Overall, I was originally planning on just eating half the wings and half the sandwich thinking that it would fill me up but because the taste was so good I ended up killing all of it! If I am ever in this Cleveland airport ever again and have enough time I am definitely getting the same again! You just gotta deal with the slow service. Yelp 2023 Review #3 896 overall

Yelp
12/31/21 -- a quick mileage run to solidify United status for 2022 brought us on a successful EWR-CLE same-day round trip adventure. Didn't even leave the airport. In the more or less 120 minutes we had in CLE we were determined to get as good of a lunch as possible, so Bar Symon was already our intended destination. The active runway view was a favorite, the selection of beer on tap was notable, and we really did enjoy the food. We started with the wings ("mild" was recommended simply because I don't think there was a hotter option (or it was not presented to us)) and ended up being very flavorful. Loved that super chunky bleu cheese. For lunch we had one chicken sandwich and one Smoked Turkey Rachel -- the Rachel being the favorite by a long shot. The fries were hot and salty and everything paired well with cold beer. The one mixed drink we did get was a little sweet so if that's not your vibe I'd say keep it simple, or stick to beer. The kicker? Bar Symon participates in Priority Pass, so we got $56 off the check just for going to a place we were going to go anyways. Next time we find ourselves in CLE, we'll be back.

Yelp
Reliable service and delicious food. Had breakfast and enjoyed the egg sandwich. Eggs were so creamy. Good coffee too. Nice quick service and a good choice for an airport meal.
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
Pros: It's five o'clock somewhere! Such a good drink, perfect before our flight! I had the chickpea salad and the Parmesan rosemary fried, both were very tasty! The salad was filling and ver fresh. All around delicious meal. Great service. Cons: tables are very close together, but it's an airport, space is gonna be limited.
google avatar

Gene T.

Yelp
Mediocre service. So so drinks. Food was just ok! We got not much for $100. Do I need to say more! The name drew us in. Make no mistake, it is only a name.
google avatar

Radha P.

Yelp
I stopped in here to grab a quick lunch before heading to my connecting flight and I have to say the service is on point! Three times the servers came to check and ensure everything was okay even though I seated myself at the furthest end of the restaurant to avoid the crowds. The servers couldn't be friendlier than they already are. They make a killer mimosa and no ... I wasn't inebriated while writing this I ordered the COBB Salad and they were generous with the avocado (I love avocados) I also ordered the chili and if you like chili you will like theirs. Spring for a bowl instead of a cup
google avatar

Nate M.

Yelp
I had to try a TV chef's restaurant that I passed by in my travels. It gets docked one star because of the price but that's to be expected at an airport. The larger review is for the smash burger I had. I don't think there was anything smashed about it because it looked huge. If you're looking for "the burger" of burgers, goo-wie cheese, greasy patties (2), soft bun, and tangy sauce, this is it. I'm sure it will max your caloric intake for the day. I skipped the fries for that reason.
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Awesome service. Salad not as many chic peas as usual when I get it in IAD airport but still delicious!!! My favorite place to eat.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Cleveland airport has several eating options but if you're looking for something simple casual a local beer or hearty hamburger I would stop here with no other equal in the airport.
google avatar

Austin K.

Yelp
I got priority pass credit and used it to-go. I ordered a cobb salad and the Broccoli cheddar bowl of soup, which totaled less than $28 I guess because I didn't get anything charged additionally. Probably can't judge this place by these healthier options, but they were just standard. The service was very nice though.
google avatar

Sebastian J.

Yelp
Beer and food are decent, but tell me why a glass of wine is a the price of a bottle/cost more than my meal :|. Pretty good deal with priority pass credit at least
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
For an airport restaurant it is pretty good. I got the wings and I liked them a lot. Seems like everyone was enjoying the burgers as well. It's about $15 per plate for whatever you get. The drinks were really expensive, the mule was $16. It was very smart to be part of the priority pass. I will eat here every time just for that reason. The one thing that is annoying is the seating, it's really tight, even for an airport restaurant. I feel like they need to expand a bit. It's worth it, get the wings, fun stuff before a flight.
google avatar

Dana R.

Yelp
Airport food is airport food. Service is king. If you are lucky enough to have a chat with bartender Logan...you will be richer for it. A please & thank you kind of guy who wants to make your day better just for being there. Go for the service and your day will be better.
google avatar

Annabelle L.

Yelp
Had a flight out of Cleveland and grabbed a quick bite here--got their sweet sriracha wings to go. Came out quickly, were piping hot, crispy on the outside and the sauce was tasty (albeit sticky, don't worry not too spicy either).
google avatar

Alicia S.

Yelp
This review for Bar Symon is well overdue. My husband and I eat here nearly every time before a flight. They've got great food and beer options, and they are partners with Priority Pass. Also, the service is always excellent. All the servers are super nice, and the kitchen gets your food to you in a hurry. I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a quick bite or drink on your way through the airport.
google avatar

Bryan M.

Yelp
I wouldn't have stopped here normally, but I had the Priority Pass which gave me a $28 credit to try the food. I had the burger, which was actually not bad. I was happily surprised everything tasted good. The service however was a bit slow.

Yelp
At Cleveland airport lunch at Bar Simon. Really great food - friendly staff. We shared a chicken sandwich. Our waitress split the sandwich and salad onto separate plates. Some of the best airport food I've had. Toasted bread- hot grilled chicken. So this is worth a visit if at CLE. It's a 5.

Rob E.

Yelp
My favorite go to place for breakfast BECAUSE OF THE BISCUITS AND GRAVY! How do you remove your NUMBER 1 seller from the menu. Extremely disappointed - bring back the BISCUITS AND GRAVY!!! #barsymon #chefmichaelsymon #clevelandairport #bringbackthebicuitsandgravy

Yelp
I was in the airport and love Michael Symon on the Food Network, so eating at his establishment is a no brainer. I kept things simple and ordered the cheeseburger and fries with a drink of sarsaparilla and a wonderful chocolate dessert. The burger and bun were very tasty, the fries were nice and crisp, and the dessert was wonderful. Sure this is "airport food" but if you are arriving or departing, this is a great place for lunch.
google avatar

Julie E.

Yelp
In the Cleveland Airport. Best sandwiches and service we have had in awhile. It is in an airport!! Selections are limited but delicious. Rosemary fries - always a go to at Michael Symon restaurants. Share them. You get a lot of food!!! I still miss Lola's but love that you can grab delicious food at the airport. And our server, wish I had his name. Delightful! Fast, efficient. Made sure our condiments were full. I usually have to rush through this airport. Glad we finally had the chance to stop here.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Good for a quick drink if you're flying from terminal C but this is definitely a chaotic venue. Long wait times even sitting at the bar, frazzled staff, a jack and coke took about 25 minutes and by the time I got it in hand I had ti jump on my plane.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Okay cute little sit down place to chill while waiting for your flight! They have burgers, sandwiches, a couple types of salad, and some beer and cocktails too. The most expensive salad is a Cobb salad for $17 but they have a couple cheaper salad options as well. The sandwiches here are fairly reasonable but also kind of large! If we could do it again can I would've split a sandwich between both of us! Also, the burgers and sandwiches don't come with French fries, so those are extra, but they're pretty dang good. You get a ton of French fries so you can definitely split an order of them between 2-3 people. The servers are decent and organized as well and the tables are pretty clean. Servers are wearing masks intermittently and tables are fairly clean!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
I had some time and wanted to try something different so I stopped in here after seeing a couple of other of his restaurants down by the stadiums the day before. I had a Manhattan which isn't something I have often but sounded good... and it was! I ordered the Polish Boy too which turned out to be a nice combination of textures and tastes. I was more impressed with it than I expected. I'd hit this place up again but as with most airport dining, it is airport dining. Set your expectations accordingly. You're trapped in a somewhat remote and secured building just as that restaurant is. This must certainly affect how a restaurant is ran and operates. It definitely affects how I run and operate. :-)

Yelp
I came in here upon 2 days of travel delays that snowmagedon caused the northeast. So I came in for 2 meals over 2 days, breakfast and dinner. And I also must preface saying my meals were free with priority pass. ($28 off your meal per person) Breakfast Service here is definitely a bit slow, but I got an orange juice and tried to order the pulled pork burrito. I was informed they were out of tortillas, but would gladly put it in on a challah roll for me like they did their burgers. The pork was a hair on the dry side, but tasted really awesome The egg portion was huge and was also perfectly cooked, I hate it when restaurants overcook the eggs so that they were tough. The roll was really soft on the inside with a nice texture. It came with a side of home fries which were just ok, hard to mess up home fries. Left the waitress tip since it is not included with priority pass and then resumed waiting for a flight home Dinner When I came in for dinner, it was REALLY busy but managed to grab a seat at the bar. I ordered a Lola Burger and Poutine Fries. Now this probably wasn't the best idea since the fries portion was HUGE and both things involved zero vegetables, but I digress. The burger was cooked perfectly medium like I ordered it and was really juicy. The egg on top gave it a really creamy texture when you bit in and the yoke ran everywhere. Which delicious, it was really messy. The pickled onions gave it a little crunch and some acidity. And then there was bacon, how can you not love bacon on a burger. The poutine fries were just as good as the poutine I've eaten in Montreal and quebec. Fries were really crispy and the toppings were really nice. Just a tad salty overall for my taste. Definitely worth stopping in here for a meal...especially since its (nearly) free!
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
I was flying out on a weekend afternoon and had a bit less than an hour before my flight. I got their burger with fries. Service was prompt and friendly. My burger was also cooked just right. The fries had a good texture, but also had a rather unique/odd flavor (at first I thought ginger, but rosemary would probably make more sense...). It wasn't bad - just not my cup of tea. My only gripe is that we were never informed that fries were an extra cost. We were only casually asked "do you want fries with that" as if it were a default side. Luckily, I had priority pass, so it really didn't matter. Other than that, Bar Symon is a solid place to come for airport food. Wouldn't mind coming again.
google avatar

Iowa W.

Yelp
The potatoes were delicious. Perfectly salted and made. The burrito with cheese sauce was good. I asked for it to be made with sausage instead of Canadian bacon. Totally great. There was a policeman or security guard at the airport who told me it was the better breakfast option and boy was he right. Just perfect.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
I'm always surprised at the quality of food from breakfast to salads. I've been here with girlfriends and we have polished off a *few* mimosas. Service is pretty fast and always friendly.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Anything Mike symon touches is gold! Delish food and great drinks. The fries are the BEST
google avatar

Cindi R.

Yelp
Right by C3 gate perfect location for my now three delayed flight!! Having kielbasa lunch. Great open faced and grilled.
google avatar

Brooke P.

Yelp
Long travel days can be stressful and hard so getting enough food in for me is key. I decided to try this place and although the STAFF were wonderful, the food was sub par at best. I ordered a turkey burger and chips w house guacamole. There was little to know exciting flavor with either dishes. Once again reminded to pack more food when I travel haha!!! But as far as options for CLE airport go - I'm not sure there's any better.
google avatar

Byron T.

Yelp
Cleveland airports finest!!!! I came here because I had lounge perks with priority pass. The food was delicious and service was great. Their wings were extremely delicious. I really enjoyed the bleu cheese dressing. The Caesar salad was over dressed in my opinion so it gave it a very strong Caesar dressing flavor and felt very heavy. The burger was very delicious. I enjoyed the fried egg on top. However, next time I would not order it with the pickled onions on top. They overpowered the burger. Overall, I will definitely be back another time if I am ever in Cleveland.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Priority Pass approved restaurant! My guest and I were pleasantly surprised at how well this full service airport restaurant turned out to be. While the menu wasn't large (you're in an airport), they had several options. We took advantage of the burger section as photos of them on Yelp looked tasty. I was really to see the impossible burger available! Additional options like a gluten free bun were available as well! I went with the Lolla Burger on a GF bun with the truffle fries! All around it was very good and did the job! Drinks: menu boasts several options including some good craft cocktails! Next time you're around, stop by for a burger/meal and a drink! Plenty of TV's here as well!
google avatar

Baltazar R.

Yelp
This was a quick stop before boarding the plane and only because this place has just been added to the list of Priority Pass restaurants where one can eat for free (if you have the credit card that allows you to belong this exclusive club for $450 a year) The Chickpeas Salad was really good, the vegetables were fresh, crunchy and the combination with chickpeas made it a great choice. Although I felt that the salad wouldn't be filling enough and went and ordered a side order of poutine, I must admit that the salad is more than enough for a person of my size (And I can eat a double quarter pounder with fries and dessert!) The poutine is a Midwest version, not the Canadian version. The nice thing about this dish is the addition of gravy on top of the cheese curds. Really really good, like anything that you add gravy to. The waitress suggested a local beer, I don't remember the name but it was very hoppy and wheaty and very delicious. Service was EXCELLENT, with a huge smile, great recommendations and very quickly, so definitely will visit again next time we're in the airport.

Yelp
I had time to eat dinner before my flight and hadn't been here before. Wings were on my mind. Beer was on my mind. The place was packed. I almost just walked past entirely. But I spotted a two-top table by the wall was available, so I circled back to the hostess stand. No one was there. A hanging sign on the hostess stand said please seat yourself. So I squeezed my way through w my roller bag and claimed that table. There was a menu on the table already and I got to work. The first waitress came to the table of 4 next to me and gave them their check and they paid at the table. She walked away after that. No biggie. Then a bus person came and cleaned it off. A second waiter came my direction and walked past to service tables behind me. I thought this must be my person. Then they darted back. The 4-top next to me sat two new people. My waiter came darting back out to another table, walked past again, no acknowledgement. It's fine, they're packed. I notice another two top has been cleaned and sat w more ppl. My waiter is on his way back out to take the order of that new table next to me, AND of the new 2-top. I'm wondering now. Maybe I'm not his. I see people being sat by a hostess now. Did I take this table and now I'm being excised? How?? The sign said... this blonde kid with shaved sides and back with long overhanging on top is coming back with a tray and many drinks. All the new tables now have drinks, placed orders and I'm sitting here with elbows on the table trying to get eye contact. He or anyone else don't see me, I must be invisible again. I check to make sure cloaking is deactivated, it is. He goes to the micros machine for 5minutes to put in all the orders he has taken at all the new tables. I know I'm behind the curve now. Be damned, I'm gonna get eye contact now. He darts back my direction, I'm leaning hard on elbows beaming his direction, he makes brief eye contact and walks past. Nothing. Disappears behind me again, makes the rounds, returns to said safe position off-grid. I stand, slowly gather my belongings and exit the establishment after 15-20 minutes of waiter torture. I have been excised successfully by the warlords of bar Symon never to return to try their $17 wings. I notice on the way out, the sign on the hostess stand says, please wait to be seated.

Yelp
Despite my previous experience, I decided to give Bar Symon another chance since I arrived early at the airport and figured that a 2 hour wait would be sufficient to get my food and leave. And it was. Barely. Okay, I'm exaggerating. It only took about an hour-ish to get done, which is way better. So, the good. My main food (the sausage with coleslaw and French fries) was actually pretty pleasant. The fries were especially good with the coffee bbq sauce. The POWER!!! They have so many chargers along the wall so I charged all my electric devices in anticipation of my archaic flight, but that's another review. The bad. Service was mediocre, which is an improvement over bad, so there's that. And to be fair, my waitress was quite attentive, but it did take quite a bit to get seated. Not a ton, but for a mostly quiet time, a little too long. The side salad is 100% not worth the price, as it seemed pretty much the same as those bags of romaine mix with a cucumber and tomato thrown in. Overall, I was actually pretty happy and might look forward to going here again! Hurray! I love changing my mind about businesses.
google avatar

Pamela M.

Yelp
Had a 3 hour layover in CLE and needed some food. Bar Symon looked like the best option. The service (thank you Bianca!) was absolutely awesome. Bianca was attentive to all of her guests and made sure that everyone was happy. It was a "lunch rush" she was BUSY. She deserves a big time raise. The food? Well, hit and miss. We had the pirogies and kielbasas, which was outstanding but small. The standard cheeseburger was flavorless and the bacon was limp and flabby. The rosemary fries were outstanding and the chicken wings (dry rub) were decent. Not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst. Pricing? Super expensive for portion sizes. And come on Mike: fries are an add on and not included with sandwiches and burgers? This is Cleveland.... Not NYC or LA. Overall, it's the best option in terminal c, and I'd hire Bianca anywhere to take care of my customers!
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Love this place! They also have food! I checked in with LoungeKey via my CRO crypto Visa which paid for my entire check here! $25 free for signing up for the Ruby Red card http://bit.ly/2Y7pX6Q ) Loved this place! Thanks Cynthia for the great service!
google avatar

George S.

Yelp
Always on the lookout for good representative cuisine at this nations airports. This joint in terminal C makes the mark. First, it is truly local - operated by one of Cleveland's celebrity chefs who runs the Lola restaurant in downtown Cleveland (and featured on Anthony Bourdain's 'No Reservations' show on Cleveland. Not quite the high end stuff at that restaurant but more sandwiches. Not wanting a burger (I mean I'm sure they're great but how much greater could these be?), I had the Kielbasa sandwich. Now where do you find that on an airport menu? As you can see from the photo. Topped with fries, cole slaw, and the tastiest mustard on a home made bun! Yum yum. Despite the focus on burgers, there are enough salads and other options this ranks a solid 4 stars. Food quality & taste: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Value: 4 stars
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
This place is located downtown and in the airport! I went to the airport location because they accept Priority Pass members and give you a free $28 voucher and we were coming home from a long weekend getaway. We ordered the crispy chicken wings, fat boy Burger and fries. They all were soooo savory! The service is good, and it's located in concourse C. I would recommend it this restaurant if you are hungry and in the mood for good bar food or even a tasty salad!
google avatar

Rachelle R.

Yelp
It's a great option in the Cleveland airport. The service was friendly and attentive, the menu secretions was plentiful and they have the impossible burger YAY. I ordered: Kielbasa and perogies - kielbasa was juicy and really tasty, perogies were loaded with potatoes and cheddar carbs on carbs perfection. Chickpea salad without Romain - I had a side of grilled chicken and took this to go. The arugula is pretty much all the greens on this dish since I asked for no Romain lettuce, I like my arugula a little wilted with the red vinegar dressing since it's sometimes a bit bitter. But it was really good
