This was a nice stop for a drink before our reservation at Delice and Sarrasin. I was so surprised to see that happy hour was from 3 to 7 EVERYDAY! Even on a Saturday! I got a $7 glass of rosato and my partner for a couple $5 beers. We sat at the bar and enjoyed that, but if you're lucky you might get a spot outside.

Google
Bartender was arrogant. Would set down drinks and not say anything and Like put them out of reach. They wouldn't put on the live Mets game instead played a replay of f1 because they refuse to play American sports. I know it's not a sports bar but the way they went about it was rude.

Google
One of the best wine spots in EV. This is one of there few locations in the city and they just opened after a renovation that seems to have elevated the ambience and class of the place. Went for a glass of wine on Wednesday night, enjoyed the vibe so much we ended back here on Sunday for the same glass of wine. Try the Borolo. It’s absolutely incredible!

Google
Great experience with amazing staff my only concern is not having much more food options for very hungry people. Other than that the panini I had was great but I didn’t want to order two of them cause I was starving.

Google
I don’t know how anyone can say anything negative about this neighborhood staple. The service is always great, the happy hour specials are unpretentious and perfect, and the staff are always kind and welcoming. I live in the neighborhood and often come here with my little dog to read and relax, and I am always welcomed with a smile and a cold drink. This is one of the most underrated staples in the neighborhood. So if you haven’t been here before, you definitely should plan a visit.

Headed over to meet a friend for happy hour on a Tuesday. Great outdoor seating, which was semi closed off with a low wall and mini evergreens. There was one selection each genre of wine: a red, a pinot grigio, a rose, etc.

Would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for an event space (or just a good time). Very helpful staff, great drinks, and a beautiful venue.

Google
Terrible service. Came on a Saturday 6PM and felt uncomfortable the minute we sat down. We ordered two of the same drinks and they tasted completely different. One was way too sweet and the other was way too sour. The bartender kept giving us looks every two minutes, my girlfriends and I felt extremely uncomfortable. Poor customer service, was not even half way done with my drink and he already handed us our check. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

Yelp
Stopped in for girl time and great wine! Loved the vibe. Service was great. Had an amazing Sauvignon Blanc that I need back in my life. Delicious and crisp. Will definitely be back to try some food and many Sauv Blancs. Ha!

Yelp
A great casual spot for some drinks! I came on a Sunday evening and had a great time. My friend and I got a couple drinks and sat at the bar chatting, and the bartender was also super friendly to talk to. They have a pretty solid variety of different beers and wines.

Yelp
Bar Veloce has become a go-to for me when I just want to grab a cocktail and take a break from walking. The staff is always friendly, it is a beautiful bar with a lovely rustic atmosphere. The last time I went I ordered a charcuterie board and desserts. They don't have an extensive menu, but it is nice for a quick bit and drink!

Yelp
I went to Bar Veloce to grab some drinks and we ended getting some bites too. The ambience was good and the service is okay. I mainly liked the drinks, their NEGRONI is well prepared, tasted exactly what you would expect, no surprised from a classic. Then I also tried the APEROL SPRITZ which felt light, even a bit sweet. Probably a bit short on the aperol in my opinion. Ordered a couple of side dishes, the PANINI with prosciutto and mushroom which was crispy, warm, and very cheesy. Then, tried the BRUSCHETTA with pesto and anchovies, good flavor, but I was surprised they used the same very thin crusty bread that they do for the panini.

Yelp
Cheese and meats app was great. I truly loved the 6 different cheese types that were very satisfying and different in types. The bread that came along with this was reeeeally good. You give me good bread and you got me. I opted for a lavender mocktail that had a honey flare- this mocktail is memorable on my list to repeat

Yelp
Popped in for some wine with a friend to have some talks. The wine selection was good, the ambience was perfect for catching up and service was very friendly but not overly so. I kept seeing plates and plates of cheese go out, had I realized they offered cheese plates I maybe would have saved some room after dinner! 4/5

Yelp
Three-ish stars. There are several locations throughout the city. It's a nice, classy spot for a glass of wine and a snack. The ambiance and service were excellent. Overall, they have a great happy hour and a nice wine selection. I ordered the prosciutto di parma bruschette, which was a nice combination of savory and sweet, but I thought the portion size was on the small side. I do think I will visit them again as I found this spot to be quite modern and elegant.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the happy hour $7 till 7pm any glass of wine. I tried the prosciutto panini perfectly crispy n cut into triangles n prosciutto platter. The breadsticks were served warm, so good!

Yelp
I love the concept of an Italian-style wine bar with an affinity for Fellini serving vino rosso (and bianco), prosecco, etc. But my first thought upon entering Bar Veloce is: the concept is better than the execution. When it comes to NYC wine bars, my comfort zone is somewhere between the cool atmosphere of Von and the more high-tech presentation of the long gone Clo Wine Bar. Bar Veloce just seems more pretentious and, in my view, didn't evoke the spirit of the East Village.

Yelp
Honestly, my time here could have been better. I visited with a friend. What drew us in was the ambiance. It is small but not crowded and has great lighting- not too dark but not overly bright. We loved it! There was a lot of seating available so we sat at the bar. The service is kind but extremely slow. It takes a while for them to come to you, even when you're trying to flag them down. I ordered the Allagash white beer which is a favorite of mine and my dining partner ordered a wine. The beer tasted off for some reason. I've ordered the allagash a ton so I know what it's supposed to taste like. My friends wine was a red sparkling wine, which she didn't expect. It was tasty though. We also ordered a bite to eat while we were there, as the food menu looked pretty good. What came out was laughable. We ordered the prosciutto de Parma bruschetta. It sounded fabulous. What came out were two TINY pieces of bread with an insane amount of super sweet paste and one extremely thin piece of prosciutto. The sweet paste we assumed was fig as that's what the menu said but it barely had a taste other than sweet. Really not balanced well at all. Would definitely not order again and tbh, this repels me from ordering food from there again. Important to note: they don't have hard alcohol, basically only wine and beer as it is a wine bar.

Erica R.

Yelp
Might be the worst bar I've ever been to. My friends went in here during a sun shower, so we didn't know what to expect. We seated ourselves at the bar. They didn't have a lot of cocktail options, just what was on the menu. According to other reviews, they might be better suited for wine. Drinks were inconsistent. We had two of the same drinks, and one was much sweeter than the other. The bar staff kept looking at us, not like we were going to steal anything... My friend still had half her drink left before we were shown the check. Just seemed like they wanted us out. The place was not welcoming. Would've stayed for another drink, but the vibes were not it.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting our old stomping grounds in this area of town, having lived in the area for most of our 20s. We found that we really grew out of some of our old spots (Penny Farthing, Belfry, Croc Lounge is closed), but we stumbled upon this spot which is much more our (now) speed =) The wine selection is vast and delicious. The bartender let me do a little complimentary sampling to determine which I wanted a glass of. Lovely spot, great service. Definitely would return and recommend to friends!

Yelp
I went to Bar Veloce for a private event and had such a lovely experience. Frederick was remarkably helpful and I enjoyed my time there immensely. I'll definitely return next time I'm in NYC!

Yelp
With 7 locations including JFK Airport, you can have your Bar Veloce just about anywhere in Manhattan. Known as a sleek wine bar, I've visited Bar Veloce at their Greenwich Village location, in the past. This evening, the East Village Bar Veloce was very inviting with open windows to accommodate the Springlike weather. The lighting was cozy and a cool Vespa at the entrance was welcoming, lending a rustic ambiance. I grabbed two seats at the bar with HH being in full swing until 7 p.m. There were select Italian wines including Prosecco for $7. We settled on a smooth red that packed a bit of a punch for me. Paninis and bruschetta would be our meal choice. Since we shared, everything we chose was vegetarian AND delicious. The cremini panini at $13 were 4 generous pieces, flavorful and crusty with lots of mushrooms. A variety of bruschetta was on the menu and we decided on the trio for $15. The portion was plentiful and complemented the panini & wine very well. With the trio, you are able to choose any 3 from the menu (2 pieces each). We decided on the grape tomato, the Veloce which was anchovy based, and the chickpea. Each better than the other. Bar Veloce is homey, cozy and allows for a good time. With wonderful wines from Italy (or cocktails/beer) and delicious bites, it is definitely worth checking out and won't break the bank. Wonderful atmosphere (perfect for date night) with the ability to conduct a conversation since there isn't any music blasting in the background. Only nitpick was the airplane like restrooms. Yes, that tiny. Solid.

Yelp
I was early for our reservation at Momofuku Ssam Bar, so I walked down the blocked and stumbled upon Bar Veloce... the open space was inviting. After taking a seat directly at the bar, I was immediately present with a menu. Ordered my first drink and relaxed for while waiting for time to pass. I noticed the older people to my left at the bar seemed to monopolize the bartender but he still make sure not to neglect his other customers. He checked if I needed anything, which was greatly appreciated. I ordered a second drink along with the check since I'd need to leave in a few minutes to make the reservation.

Yelp
This has to be the worst fucking place to visit in NYC. We had a bartender that was inept at communicating large gratuity policies , instead I ordered 3 drinks and was charged for a large party of 20%. He failed to suggest having all drinks on one check but happily proceeded to charged 2 cards for drinks each with large party gratuity, once asked he couldn't property explain why he did it and nor did he apologize...:.the beauty is we have a choice where we spend our dollars and this will never be the place for us again! The bartender Josh C has to be the worst at communication 101!!!!

Yelp
I visited this lovely bar for a few happy hour beverages, and this place is great. The bar has a huge list of wines and various cocktails. I opted for vodka spritzers and champagne (gotta keep it "classy"). Also, the bar has a pretty cool decor and quiet ambiance. Hell, it even has a lamp whose lampshade consists of sunglasses (or shades). The service was pretty on point and the two male bartenders that early Friday were really great. Although there are three of these bars, sprinkled throughout the city, I never thought of grabbing drinks here. I could see this bar as a prefect place for pre- or post-date drinks The crowd was pretty diverse in age, something you do not see too much in the city nowadays. All in all, I really enjoyed my visit here.

Megan C.

Yelp
Beautiful and cozy bar. Friendly staff. Good wine and fun cocktail selection with a low alcohol menu as well that they clearly put effort into. Ran into this place by chance but will definitely come back.

Yelp
Wine was bad. Had a rose that gross and then a Pinot which was worse. Service was not great either. About 10 people in the joint, we ordered a panini and when we enquired 25 minutes later if it was en route: the bartender ( who had clearly forgotten to put the order in) said - "oh yeah. The kitchen is just slammed.." :/ no sorry. No my bad. No top off on a drink. Just: nothing. Will not be back to this one.

ian s.

Yelp
Guy server was not friendly at all. Glass of wine was 4oz max. Not worth a stop at all. Update: someone from The Establishment reached out to me to make things right. I said I didn't need a refund just they should be aware of the situation. We appreciate the effort they made

Yelp
great location!!! people watching, check!!! our waiter was great. providing option and humor.

Yelp
Great spot for a casual gathering or a date. I've been here many times with my girlfriends and it's always a good time. They have a great selection of wine and meats. It's cheaper if you get the whole bottle vs paying per glass so I recommend you get a bottle. They have a big variety of Italian wines. I recommend the Super Tuscan or the Chianti.

Yelp
This review is based on the Happy Hour. I've been here for happy hour twice and really enjoyed it. $7 wines! and the wines are actually yummy, unlike other wines you will find around the city on HH. I really like the classy but not stuffy atmosphere of this location. At the same time, the location is very breezy and open. So while there is not really outdoor seating, you can still feel like you're a part of the great weather.
google avatar

Sheena L.

Yelp
Came for happy hour. Happy hour on wines is pretty great, $7 / glass until 7. But besides that everything else a bit mediocre. Tried 2 paninis, the classic prosciutto and the mushroom. Thought the bread and crunch was good, but otherwise both lacked flavor. Prosciutto is so deliciously salty but could barely taste it in the panini. The mushroom one could've used some salt too, or something else to give it more pop, maybe truffle oil or garlic. They were honestly both kinda boring. Service also ok. Waited at least 30 minutes for 2 paninis and the place was pretty empty. There are a few tables that straddle the outside, not quite sidewalk seating but close enough. I appreciate the semi-outdoor seating although we also decided to sit there because it didn't feel like there was A/C or at least it didn't feel like it was on. Overall, good happy hour for wines but not too exciting on the rest of it.
google avatar

Erika S.

Yelp
This is a really cute wine bar in East Village. We walked down second avenue and decided to check this place out. The ambiance is lovely, and I like that the whole front is open. The bar itself is one big square island and then there are some tables around the bar. It was pretty empty on a Friday afternoon, so we got some nice seats by the bar. They have a great happy hour $7 for prosecco 5 -7 pm daily, hard to beat that. The wine list is great as well. Perfect spot for a date. One thing, the bathrooms are extremely small, actually never seen anything smaller.
google avatar

Dilcia E.

Yelp
Terrible service. My friends and I didn't get seated and approached the bar to find seating. Waitress told us we were in the way and was very rude.
google avatar

Massimo M.

Yelp
I stopped by on a hot summer afternoon, after walking all the way from TriBeCa. We were tired and parched, and it was nearing 5 pm so wine sounded good, preferably cold, with bubbles in it. The space is very nice, modern, and airy. The whole front window was open - summer afternoon, but the AC was on inside cooling off hot patrons like us striding in. The bar is a rectangular island, and there are small tables around the floor. We sat at the bar, and ordered proseccos from the well-represented wine list. We also ordered some small food plates. I gotta tell you, the small plates are great. I highly recommend Bar Veloce

Joe S.

Yelp
What a beautiful venue and a big thanks to Owner Frederick and the team! They were super supportive and made the evening a special one. The selection of wines are top notch, the ambiance, the coziness. This is an amazing place to have a great glass of wine and read, or have a nice conversation or even a little gathering of great friends! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Lera F.

Yelp
This is such an elegant, refined place! Perfect atmosphere for a date. Here's what stood out for me: -waiters wearing suits, and they were mostly older gents -still friendly, not overly pretentious -crowd not rowdy/college at all, older people (30s) couples & groups of older ladies, friends, etc -romantic, perfect for a date -spacious, well lit but not bright, looks fancy inside :) -ambience was classy but drinks not more pricey than other bars in the area ($10-14 for a wine glass) -huge selection of wines -BUT some beers, cocktails available too! :)
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Had a pinot grigio here while waiting for a dinner reservation. Ambiance - Beautiful... a 9. Date ambiance. Clean. Service - Waiter was attentive however aside from drinks on the menu, he didn't know how to make anything else. There was only one there too so I went with the wine. Restroom - Small. Tiny. Claustrophobics worst nightmare. I went there because it looked pretty and convenient but I wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
This is a really nice wine bar. They have a good selection for just about any palate. The bartenders are usually friendly, but not always attentive. I've noticed that they tend to favor those people they find attractive. This is a good spot to meet people before going out or to wind down your evening.
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
A fine spot for a nightcap, especially if you've been drinking boozy cocktails all evening. A glass of viognier could be just the thing to keep you from going over the edge, or to pleasantly push you off it if you were a bit too close. Although the service and the bar are both a little cold, the lighting is intimate and it's sleek and fancy enough to make it a decent date bar for the right kind of woman. Personally, the only woman I've ever looked at or talked to is my wife, so that's a call you're going to have to make on your own.

Yelp
This location had a rude bartender when I visited on 6/20/23 at about 6:30 pm. In the short amount of time I was there, I was ignored and I observed this bartender tell customers to sit at another table when they asked for a specific table to be wiped down. He then further explained to them how he was working alone at that time and could not do it. He ignored the fact that there was another customer outside smoking, and that is possibly why the customer was asking for another table to be wiped down...so they can avoid the smoke. Then as I tried to get his attention for another drink as he paced back and fourth behind the bar, he begins to chat with people next to me with their dog in their lap up at the bar about dental fillings during COVID. When I closed out, he had the nerve to tell me that tip was not included. I told him that I was aware and he began to ask me why. Now I have his attention?! I told him about what I observed mentioned above and he kept making excuses rather than owning the fact that he provided bad service. I have no sympathy for him. All he had to do was simply ask if I wanted another drink and pour it. That's it. No need for chit chat or smiling. He could not do that bare minimum service. I would have left a tip if he did that. Also, I observed the guy in the back hustling more than him. It is sad because I know the man that was hustling in the back, who I saw multitask (unlike the bartender), does not get credit in tipping. Never again at this location. The wine bar across the street was better.
google avatar

Stevie J.

Yelp
Stevie stopped in for a glass of refreshing Rose (or some sort of boozeaholic beverage) - and "boi oh boi" were my wishes granted! What better way to lower your body temp and higher your BAC on a hot summer day?! LOL - Service was great & attentive (although it was empty!) - Rose was fresh, cold & smooth while traveling down my gullet! - Ambiance was average; great places to stop by for a drink, but wouldn't recommend much more

Yelp
How is it possible that i haven't reviewed this place. I think i'm even the Duchess here. Bad Duchess! Yes i've been coming here long before i moved here and maybe since it first opened. It used to be the size of a well organized closet with clever design and a friendly dapper wine steward. now it has expanded to be 3 times it's original closet size. some are less than happy about that (like my friend Jane K.) but I'm rather delighted because there is ample room to sit and it still has a small feel too it. I love the eggplant, artichoke and anchovy panini and get it ever time i'm here while washing it down with a perfect glass of something white. whatever Mr. Dapper wants to pour me will be fine.
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
Good wine. Somewhat limited food menu but paninis are solid. HH drink specials ($7 per glass of wine) until 7PM. Nice and quiet place for date night.
google avatar

Natasha G.

Yelp
Solid wine bar with locations all over the city. It can be overpriced for the selection so I tend to go during happy hour. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Can't recommend. Went in after work to grab a drink. Was seated at the bar at the only two adjacent seats by the host but told by the bartender that one of the seats was being held by the girl in the next seat as she waited for a "friend". So we took a couple of seats near the back. We went ahead and orders some appetizers and had a couple glasses of wine. The food was mediocre. The most interesting thing was that girl was a working girl. A couple "friends" stopped to talk but I guess none took the bait. It was disappointing to find out the bartender is running off customers so his hooker friend can hunt for Johns at the back side of the bar. Humorous but trashy. Thus 1 star.

Gian D.

Yelp
Pretty good vibe here the other night. Tried my first sparkling red wine with hints of lavender, believe it was called the Lambrusco, simply because it was one of the cheaper wines on menu, was pleasantly surprised. Our waiter guy was quite good. One thing I need the waiter to have next time is a tray because he brought ALL the drinks over (like 4-5 drinks) somehow with his two bare hands and I was paranoid he might spill on my white coat without a tray.

Yelp
SUPER WINE! We went with a '04 Schioppetino (Italian Red - photo included) that was absolutely, positively DELICIOUS. SUPER CHEESE! Set of 4 cheese - - some pungent, others milder, all flavorful. Pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. (Photo NOT included... I don't know how I forgot to take one!) SUPER SERVICE! Very few people who reviewed Bar Veloce seem to like him. I thought he was absolutely impeccable in appearance and service - and our time there was enhanced by him, his recommendations, and the fact that he kept on filling our glasses. Much appreciated!! NICE AMBIENCE! The lighting is great, the mood is set perfectly with that, and the right insertion of mirrors and such. I liked the decor, and the layout too. Total "bar-only" concept....... SUPER BARSTOOLS! I have this problem where my butt hurts if I sit in one chair, (anyone who has hung out with me knows, haha, "my butt hurts, let's get out of here!") unless it's a very comfortable chair. I had no problems here. So that alone makes it a super barstool!! No butt problems, great wine, great service with great friends after a sail around the Hudson............. PERFECT! Edited to add: OH OH OH!! How could I have forgotten..... It's not just a wine bar, but they have CHIMAY BLUE there. We ordered one of those, too, of course... I mean, they had it available so how could we not, right? Wine bar w/ Chimay Blue.... beat THAT!!
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
It's okay. The wine is on the pricier side and the selection is okay. It's never crowded here. The bathrooms are really really really small. Overall, it's okay if you want to just get out of the rain, which is why we were there. Otherwise, we would've gone to one of the other bars that had more character and quality selection.
google avatar

Kristen Q.

Yelp
Awesome date spot (noticed a ton of couples) to visit after having dinner on the LES. Grab a glass of wine and dessert. Nice presentation and friendly staff that will let you gab for hours without kicking you out or even hinting that you need to leave- tough to find in the city! We all thought it was cute that the waitstaff dress in suit and ties, fancy! Also they have another location in Beijing, pretty cool.
google avatar

Ro R.

Yelp
Came here awhile back with E and I remember it was a super cold night and I took my stuff into the restroom when I was waiting for E. The restroom was super small and layout was really wonky. My stuff fell to the dirty floor and I was disgusted, because this place really need to focus on their cleanliness of the restrooms. I had the Ginger Island Storm - it was good, and the service was good, but the ambiance and the cleanliness of the restroom just brought this place down for me.
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
Not a bad place to get the evening going, definitely not the place to finish, but it gets the job done. This is a strictly Italian wine bar, so forget about getting a good glass of Tempranillo or Malbec or Carmenere. Strictly Italian, if that is your thing. I had two glasses of Pinot Grigio, which the waiter picked out for me. I told him dry and crisp. And he found me a good glass. He did pick out a decent wine, too bad the service was shotty at best. I've been to many wine bars, and this one really didn't get me all hot and bothered. Shame on you for not wowing me...
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Far from the maddening crowd. You walk into a swank well apportioned bar stool seating area. We came in for a late night drink after midnight. Extensive wine list and late night food service. A sweet find with pleasant service and great for catching up with a friend.
google avatar

Yelp
Went with my bride to get out of the cold. Sat at a counter and ordered a champagne and water for me. Nice cold glass of champs, bottle of flat water, gratis, to me. Conversations start with people at the bar: neighborhood back in the day, where the good cookies can be found. Politics, music.... we left too soon. Recommended.

Yelp
A great classic spot to grab a drink, with excellent light fare and a professional vibe

Yelp
Cozy East Village wine bar with an extensive selection of good wines in various price points. Quick and efficient service. The bruschetta is only two pieces per serving but very tasty and you have the option of getting three options (6 pieces) for $15, not a bad deal. Love the decor and the little Vespa which make it feel you're really in Italy :) Don't care much for the bathrooms, too reminiscent of (airplane bathrooms) but every other detail was on point.
