Baracca Zermatt

Baracca Zermatt is a little gem! Found this restaurant while looking for the perfect Cheese Fondue and it didn’t disappoint! Tucked away behind a tree line, you get that feeling of escaping into the mountains. The ambience and decor is perfectly matched with a beautiful fire place right in the middle of the restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly, perfect English, with all the recommendations and wine pairings that you could want. The Cheese Fondue was the best I’ve had in Switzerland so far (and I’ve tried many)… Their attention to detail is what makes this place. From a welcome glass of soup to a Toblerone bar with your bill. It all works! Add this to your list… It’s a must!

I had the pleasure of dining at Baraccat Zermatt Restaurant in Koltan, Zurich, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm hospitality and professional service that immediately set the tone for the evening. The staff were not only attentive but also very knowledgeable about the menu, making sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was simply magical. The romantic atmosphere created by the soft candlelight added a charming and intimate touch to the evening. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a date night or a quiet celebration with someone special. As for the food, I ordered the classic fondue, and it was absolutely superb. The cheese was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced — easily one of the best fondues I’ve had. I also tried the salmon Tatar, which was equally delightful. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, it complemented the fondue perfectly without being too heavy. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the food and the excellent service. I would highly recommend Baraccat Zermatt to anyone visiting Zurich — it’s truly a gem worth experiencing. Highly recommended for a cozy and memorable night out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a cozy and welcoming restaurant! The atmosphere feels warm and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The fondue is a must-try – rich, flavorful, and simply delightful. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!

Great place for fondue and other Swiss dishes. We had a great experience interacting with the staff. They have a nice outdoor space that gives you a break from the city. If you are in and around the airport area for just one night, make sure to eat here.

We had such a good time at Baracca Zermatt! The staff are absolutely lovely and the restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy. The service was the highlight of our visit! The ladies who served us were attentive, patient, and all smiles. Food was good, we especially loved the fries!

I was really hoping to experience authentic fondue and enjoy some good Swiss cuisine — the photos in google looked beautiful and promising. Unfortunately, the reality was disappointing. The only tasty thing was the cheese. The salad was drenched in mayonnaise, with wilted, not-so-fresh leaves. The meat was average and nothing special. For this, we paid 100 francs (without wine, with wine 170 francs) — which is expensive for what we got. On a positive note, the waitress was very friendly and welcoming. But overall, I left with more negative impressions than positive ones. I wouldn’t recommend it.

This was a nice quaint restaurant. Very cozy and warm atmosphere. It was not very busy when we arrived because I believe their lunch times are different than in the US. Food was tasty. Nothing special or fancy and the service was very nice. Very clean establishment with ample seating. The staff ended up eating while we were there, so it's best to understand the lunch times in other countries before you travel.

Hidden gem! Very close to ZRH airport but completely wonderful! Great ambiance with nice fireplace great decor but more delicious food! You'll love it

My boyfriend and I had the champagne/truffle fondue and it was delicious. I am glad we found this place. I also fell in love with the decoration of the restaurant. We will definitely come back.

Very overrated, overpriced food for a cost of a fortune. The place looks nice and cozy, the staff is friendly. The food is just not there. Their concept of "hibachi " is totally not worth $100 per 2 people. Maybe other items on the menu are a bit better, but they just seem to be into this self-cooking of greats meats of Switzerland at your table. Our kid had fish sticks and they were indeed fish sticks from the frozen section of the supermarket.

Stopped here with a friend after work on a Friday afternoon. Showed up a little after 6, and there were lots of seats open but you could tell they were reserved tables. Looked like a good place for a group dinner with plenty of long tables and a full bar. We immediately noticed the fireplace in the center with two long bench style seats beside it. We got comfortable by the fireplace and enjoyed some red wine. The wine menu was extensive, but I cannot comment on the food, as we already had other dinner plans. But those around us seemed to be pleased. If you're in Kloten, it's a convenient location so why not give it a try.

Great place to enjoy one of our country's specialties: Fondue! This place serves great variations of it, incl. with tomatoes, herbs or - my favourite - champagne and truffel. What's particularly cool is that you can mix and match whatever you like instead of having to settle for one particular fndue. They also let you order supplements of any size if you feel you still need more cheese. ;) The ambiance is cozy and reminds me of a cottage up high in the mountains. Will certainly check back for more.
