Cute little cream puff bakery. The cream puffs are very tiny, unlike traditional sizes I’ve had at other places. We picked up a couple to try. They are pretty good. Our favorite is probably the flavor of the month. Pineapple, coconut.

My friend and I checked out Barachou for dessert since we were in the area. The shop is very small, and if they decide to expand, I hope they decide to offer more seating options. Right now, there's only room for one party to sit down, so you either need to bank on the fact that you're going at an off-time, or know you're grabbing and going. The displays are cute and cozy, and the presentation of the tarts, puffs, and pastries are beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised by these puffs, as I thought they would just be instagrammable and offer nothing else. We got the special of three puffs for $10. The puffs are tiny and bite-sized, which is the only reason I think they are overpriced. We got the passionfruit puffs and split the lemon meringue. If you like passionfruit, I highly recommend the passionfruit puff. The tangy flavor really came through and balanced nicely with the pastry, even with a generous amount of filling. I would have liked a stronger lemon flavor for the lemon meringue, but it may have been influenced by the power of passionfruit. These puffs would make a great gift for someone special who likes pastries, or a treat for yourself if you're treating yourself. I'm just a glutton who isn't a big fan on spending on something that is so tiny, but I cannot deny that it was a quality bite.

I don't usually write reviews, but I have to give a shoutout to Barachou because I'm completely obsessed. I've always loved tiramisu, hands down my favorite dessert so when I found out they make a version called Tiramichou, I knew I had to try it. Honestly, it might be one of the best things I've tasted since I left Europe. It has everything I love about tiramisu: the creamy layers, the rich mascarpone, the perfect coffee flavor but the twist is the choux puffs soaked in espresso. That's what makes it original and unforgettable. The rest of the menu is just as good. Their signature cream puffs come in all kinds of flavors, and everything is so fresh and beautiful it's hard to choose. A box of three is always a great little treat on the go. I've also tried a couple of their tarts, they're incredible, like little bites of Paris. Barachou is one of those places that just makes you happy the second you walk in. It's cozy, charming, and smells like heaven straight from the oven. Coming from Switzerland, I really miss French pastries and the smell of fresh croissants in the morning, so thank you, Barachou, for bringing back those memories.🥐🩷

The passion fruit cream puff changed my life . One of the best desserts I’ve ever had . It had a rich filling in the middle . Next time I’m gonna order 3 of those. The raspberry was really good and the whipped cream flavor focuses more on the puff pastry. The bakery is very small so I wouldn’t expect a sit down experience unless you get lucky. The coffee is ok . The passion fruit cream puff is the must order .

Google
A lively little spot dishing out some excellent French inspired treats. We stopped in after a nearby movie. We ordered the Tart of the Day (mixed berry), a flourless chocolate cake and beverage. It was all outstanding. Topped of with great service by the young lady at the counter.

Glad I stopped in for a coffee and a treat. A bit pricey, but it’s the UWS. The whipped cream puff and hazelnut puffs were good.

Google
One of the best french bakeries in uws. We love their cream puffs, galet des rois. I wish they had more seats.

My favorites were the whipped cream, creme brulee, and tiramisu cream puffs! Cream was light and loved how they all tasted

Yelp
Barachou was pretty good but nothing special IMHO. First and foremost, the price of their cream puffs for that size is absolutely ridiculous. Just go to Bibble & Sip if you want reliable tasty cream puffs at a good price. My friend and I got their take on a tiramisu and the passionfruit tart. The tiramisu pudding(?) was good but nothing special. The passionfruit tart's cream was lovely but the outer shell/baked crust was so hard that it was basically inedible. I also got the unsweetened passionfruit tea which was fine but again, nothing special. All in all, Barachou didn't live up to its hype for me.

Yelp
Perfect bite size and kids friendly. Had a few seatings indoor but it's not far from the museum or Central Park. Must try flavor of the month, we had chestnut on Dec 31st and can't wait to get back in Jan for the new flavor.

Yelp
Delicious cream puffs! The service was fast and nice. The cream puffs were delicious and pretty. They even have a class for decorating choux. They also have a location in the East Village. Cute shop inside, and they pack the choux nicely. They have macarons and cake too.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is not super small but not a lot of seating. During the summer they have a few seats outside. Everything is tiny with large prices. Love their bite size puffs but they are really expensive compared to other puffs for their size

Yelp
I would legitimately give them 100 stars if I could! The BEST little French cream puffs and tartes in the city! These are honestly my favorite treat. My personal favorites aside from the cream puffs are the passion fruit and seasonal apple tartes, but everything is delicious. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients and see how much love goes into making their desserts beautiful. We always order the larger size tartes for special occasions. I also really appreciate that it's a small business, female owned, and the staff is always lovely. It's a special shop and we are so lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I stopped in on a whim and picked up 3 little cream puffs for $10. The crème brûlée was my favorite by far. The cream was smooth and sweet, and the caramelized sugar added a nice element of texture to it. The lemon meringue was delicious, but I wish it was more lemony and tangy. The mango was their special flavor, and I found the cream to be gritty. It tasted vaguely fruity, but I wouldn't say it was mango flavored. There is minimal seating on the inside and a small patio for outside seating. It's a great spot for a mid-day sweet treat given how small and light the cream puffs are.

Yelp
I got the passionfruit meringue tart and three cream puffs- flavors: tiramisu, whipped cream, and dulce de leche. Passionfruit meringue tart: I was most amazed by this one. The crust was delightfully crunchy in a texturally very satisfying way that was a nice contrast with the creamy passionfruit filling and fluffy meringue. The passionfruit filling is flavor forward and was the right amount of sweetness and tartness. I know it's a meringue tart but I wish there was more of the passionfruit filling and less meringue tbh. If you like passionfruit, this is a must-try for sure. Even if you don't have a particular liking for passionfruit, I think you'd still find this so delicious. Dulce de leche cream puff: Out of the three flavors, this was for sure the best one. The pastry has a nice soft crunch and the puff was properly filled. The cream filling was light and fluffy, and the dulce de leche on top was very flavorful and added a delicious sweetness to each bite. Whipped cream cream puff: my favorite part of this one was the little pastry hat on top that was satisfying to just munch off. Other than that, it's good but in a mid way, just cuz it's literally just whipped cream inside the puff. Tiramisu cream puff: Ugh I was so excited for this one cuz I loveee tiramisu and everything tiramisu flavored but damn what a disappointment. The pastry had a dense, soggy, chewy texture as opposed to the cream puffs that had a nice bite to em. The inside was not properly filled at all, it was like one fat dot. Maybe I just got an unlucky unfortunate cream puff. The flavor itself was spot on tiramisu taste with an espresso filling and sweet mascarpone cream on top. You do wanna get all the components in one bite tho cuz the filling is surprisingly bitter but works when it's with the sweet top.

Yelp
So cute and delicious! Got a couple cream puffs and macaroons for an afternoon tea set and it really added taste and visuals.

Yelp
I sooooo wanted to love this little shop. The person working in the store was sweet, professional and friendly (June 1, 2025 @4pm). Where did things go wrong? The cream puffs. Sadly they were grossly overpriced (we bought 3 tiny cream puffs for $11.50!!!) We took one bite of each and tossed them. Why? The cream puffs aren't filled to order; rather, they sit in a display case and get soggy from the moisture of the filling. Also they topping where cloyingly sweet. Sorry but product needs a better recipe and simply doesn't taste good. Beard Papa makes a far better, freshly filled cream puff that is not soggy. Honestly, if we could get a refund, I certainly appreciate it.

Yelp
YUM!!!!! Don't know if I haven't had legit cream puffs or if I have just not tried GOOD cream puffs in my life but these little pastries were amazing! Love that there's an option to a get a box to try multiple. Also the server was super friendly and offered recommendations to try. There's some inside and outside seating, not super big but on a Monday morning I had no problem finding a seat to enjoy these bites of heaven. 1. Classic: super light and sweet 2. Hazelnut: this is coated in chocolate and has a cream filling. If you sit outside, eat this fast so it doesn't melt 3. Raspberry (my personal fave): any time a non-chocolate dessert is better than a chocolate dessert for me , I know it's good. This was the perfect summer treat. Super fruity and sweet. Was very tempted to go back for a box for just these

Yelp
Yummy cream puffs. The iced coffee is delicious & pairs well with it. Quick friendly service.
google avatar

Yelp
The best cream puffs! I ordered the passion fruit, pistachio, and crème brûlée. They were amazinggggg the flavors were great and they had just the right amount of filling. Wish I could have tried all the flavors.

Yelp
I was on the UWS for a doctors appointment. I saw their sign outside for the puff pastries and thought I need to come back after the doctors appointment. One hour, a latte, croissant, and six macaroons later I was hooked to the point I texted my friend who lives on The Upper West Side that this needs to be a regular spot for her. Can't wait to go back for more macaroons that feel like you're in France yet you're only on the Upper West Side in New York City.
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
A cute little shop in UWS specializing in French pastries, specifically pate a choux. We grabbed a box of three petite choux cream to try. All their flavors were very enticing but we ended up with Pistachio, Creme Bruleé, and Tiramisu. I enjoyed all of them. The fillings were all very creamy and flavorful. The choux itself was also nice with a crunchy craquelin top. My favorite was the Pistachio though. Would love to try all their flavors at some point. They have very few small bar seatings so I wouldn't bank on dining in.
google avatar

Hubert H.

Yelp
Really strong cream puff game with interesting flavors. They didn't have a nice way of putting a single one on a plate but it tasted good anyways. Looking forward to other dishes!
google avatar

Yelp
The coffee was so good but the pastries were better. The barista took great care of us even though we didn't know what we wanted. But shut the door behind you!! It's cold outside people
google avatar

Mosa H.

Yelp
Such a lovely treat! The cream puffs, while small, are more than enough and are absolutely stuffed with cream. My favorites were the lemon and caramel (on the ends). They're pretty pricey for their size but worth the hype in my opinion. They are just the right level of sweet and serve as a great gift as well. This location is pretty small and is just grab and go with small bar seating.

Yelp
This review is for TGTG bags. Creampuff box included 5 creampuffs: 3 tiramisu, lemon and cherry. This was prepackaged. Pastry bag included baguette, chocolate chip and a passion fruit tart. I brought the tart and cream puffs to dinner and they were well appreciated. The staff was so friendly and gave me my choice of tart. We now have a place to grab last minute desserts on the UWS I'm looking forward to the baguette tomorrow after I go to the farmers market.

Yelp
There's def room for improvement here. I must preface by saying that I did not try the cream puffs which is basically their specialty. I was swayed by the other delicious looking pastries ~$14 later with vanilla flan pastry & chocolate chip cookie I was left somewhat underwhelmed. The chocolate chip cookie looked so delicious I pumped myself up convincing myself it be the best chocolate chip I tasted. Sadly it was not, it was just ok. Something about the taste was off, not even a top 5. The flan pastry was good. You can really taste the vanilla bean & they have perfected the texture. If you are not into custards, I don't know that you'll be a fan of this. The spot it's so cute I definitely will give it another go, perhaps trying the cream puffs next time.
google avatar

Emi B.

Yelp
Pear Tart - delicious , love it Passion Fruit Tart - delicious , love it Hazelnut Puff - delicious , love it Key Lime Puff - least favorite as it's kinda basic. It's kinda like tart and puff to it's best texture and crunchyniess!
google avatar

Jack M.

Yelp
This is an incredible cream puff. Despite it looking like a hard cookie, this pastry made of choux and is dense but still soft and chewy. The cream is thick and rich and savory and sweet. This was just a little piece of joy.
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
This shop is not only good for sweets but for long skinny baguettes or special bread as well. I just need to learn how to make bruschetta, croutons or a Vietnamese banh mi to enjoy baguettes more!
google avatar

Frances L.

Yelp
Beautiful store with a beautiful selection of desserts! The owner was very friendly. We picked up desserts for a birthday celebration and everything was delicious!! The flourless chocolate cake was decadent and enjoyed by everyone. I especially loved the tarts. They're beautiful with fresh fruit and a light pastry cream in a crispy thin crust. We also picked up a few croissants for my nephews. It's one of their favorites and they love to eat it later by layer.
google avatar

Genevieve B.

Yelp
All the petite chou I tried were excellent. As was the passion fruit tart. The pear tart was bland. Staff was very friendly.
google avatar

Divya I.

Yelp
Omg what a cinnamon roll....orgasmic I tell ya. What can I say, gotta order another one

J X.

Yelp
I usually love this place and recommend it to everyone, but this is how they packaged our tarts for delivery! Why would you make beautiful desserts then drop them on top of each other?
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
Ordered the cream puff cake in hazelnut for a birthday; it was absolutely scrumptious. Sweet crust - almost like a sugar cookie - topped with a layer of ganache and a layer of hazelnut cream filling, then covered in hazelnut-cream filled cream puffs nestled in whipped cream. I want to try this in every flavor; it's that good.
google avatar

Yelp
If we are craving for choux, Barachou is definitely one of our new to-go places in NYC. The decor is exquisite and adorable with dreamy pink colors. There are 8 different options of choux and we got 6 of them in a box. Our favorite flavors were the vanilla and the hazelnut. Their filling is delicate, light and not too sweet. The size is perfect for one or two bites so we can have more than 1 choux without guilt to have too much dessert.

Jacob B.

Yelp
I am at a lost for words. I feel like fighting someone.. I also feel like running into the bosom of my mother crying. This pastry isn't just a good bite. It takes you out of this universe. It invoked emotion inside me. I want to dance, cry, sing, and fight. My day improved after I ate this. I just continue my day like nothing happened. But something happened, I felt something. I felt everything all at once. "Cream puff" What are you I haven't a clue I'll just take a bite Because that's what I do The outside like a donut The inside a custard I wanted to sing And then I just lost it Throwing punches at nothing While tears form in my eyes I begin to dance But I don't know why
google avatar

Manasa A.

Yelp
Delicious cream puffs. So many flavors to choose from.Dulce de leche is my favorite so far. Would definitely go back to try other desserts.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
Great place for decadent little cream puffs of a multitude of flavors. They also have an assortment of macarons that I'll definitely try next time I am in the area. I was recommended the classic, tiramisu and pistachio cream puffs. My favorite of the three was the classic which had the perfect combination of sweetness, creaminess and puff pastry. I like that they're small, making them easy to enjoy in two or three bites versus some of the other gigantic cream puffs you can get in the city. I'll definitely be back here for more!
google avatar

Bijal R.

Yelp
Pastry shop specialized in French cream puffs and other French/American inspired sweet desserts. Had an assortment of cream puffs including vanilla, chocolate, classic whipped cream, and lemon meringue. The Hazelnut Tirami'chou was to die for. These desserts were made with such high quality, and everything tasted luxurious and fresh. All desserts were uniquely made.
google avatar

Evelyn F.

Yelp
It's pretty darn good! I got the 3 puffs for $9 - only docking a star because the puffs are quite small for how much they cost, but they were very yummy. I rank what I got as follows - tiramisu: somehow this was life changing and an absolute enjoyment, passionfruit: strong passionfruit flavor that was not very tart, mango: this one had mango flavor but it also had some chocolate-y situation that was not advertised and was a bit confusing. Overall, very yummy treats! I'd come back and try their tiramisu cups which also looked very delightful and are $6/cup.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
This is my everyday pastry shop. I usually get a chocolate croissant and a latte or cappuccino. Barachou almost always has top notch croissants although there have been some days when the croissants come out better than other days. They also sell baguettes on the weekend which are the some of the best you can find on the upper west side! I havent really tried their cream puffs or macarons but I'm told they are great. Their tarts are also amazing! This morning I had a pavlova which was to die for. Also, don't sleep on their coffee drinks they are also really good. Overall, Barachou looks millennial and modern on the outside, but their pastries have all the markings of traditional French baking.
google avatar

Blue B.

Yelp
Barachou makes really cute puff pastries perfect for a special occasion or group treat. We tried the lemon meringue and passion fruit. The lemon meringue was somewhat bitter and passion fruit was soo tart. Great for photos! The staff and music was great too
google avatar

Sawako Y.

Yelp
3.5 / 5.0 - This is such a cute little pastry shop! The staff are very friendly, too. These little cream puffs are the perfect size for trying different flavors. The whipped cream on top of the cream puffs is a little too much for me, but the cream inside is light and fluffy and they are perfect for cream-lovers. By the end of the day, many of the popular flavors are gone, so if there are specific flavors you want to try, I'd recommend going earlier in the day.

Trissa H.

Yelp
Delish pastries! This was a must visit during our trip to NYC. Got the 6 count but I wish we would have done 12!! Crème brûlée was our favorite but definitely loved the whipped cream and tiramisu!! Perfect place for some bite size treats! Staff was friendly and patient as we tried to narrow done our selection to just 6. Adorable shop with seating outside was perfect for our Spring Break visit!
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
Cute and bite-sized. Subtle flavors for the cream puffs. A bit overpriced, in my opinion. Bought 3 for $9. Tarlette was just okay - sweet, tart, and creamy.
google avatar

Rohini G.

Yelp
I really liked these pastries! I picked up a couple boxes to bring to a friend with an assortment of items. None of them were overwhelmingly sweet and they had a good selection of savory items as well. I tried a sundried tomato based cake which I really enjoyed. I also tried some of the cookies, a cheesecake-like item and another tart. All were really good and light!

Jessy E.

Yelp
The service and food is great. I have ordered cream puffs (various flavors) , I enjoyed the interesting flavors they had and every bite was delicious. Even my friends and family loved it. Definitely recommend the cream puffs from here.
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
While searching for a good coffee, I found Barachou. I love shops with a specialty and theirs are cream puffs. Each one has unique fillings to go with the unique toppings. I tried a hazelnut which is covered in chocolate as well as a coconut. Both were excellent, while I liked the hazelnut best. :) The quality and taste were excellent. One, or two, and a nice coffee will do it. Enjoy!!!

Yelp
It was my sister's birthday and I am across the country but I wanted to get her some sweets. I looked up a couple of dessert shops in the Upper West Side area and Barachou caught my eye because it looked really tasty and I wished I could have them even though I was 2k+ miles away. I called them and a really nice lady picked up. I told her I wanted three choux and 1 tart. I asked which choux she recommended and vanilla and hazelnut were two of the few she said was most popular. I ordered those along with a lemon one. I also ordered the raspberry tart because I skimmed through the reviews and most people recommended this one! I told her these were for someone's birthday and if they do anything for birthdays like writing on the box. She said she can include a candle in the box which was great!! I made the order and paid for the goodies on the phone and told my sister to pick them up. My sister picked them up and they said happy bday to her and wrote "Happy birthday" with a heart on the bag. That was very nice of them. Most importantly, she loved the desserts! I'm very glad I went with Barachou for desserts for my sister's bday. I will for sure visit when I'm back in NYC!
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
These delectable little creme puffs are sure to hit the spot! We did a quick pick up order of six creme puffs. They were quite exquisite and had such beautiful details! The creme puffs themselves were so light and a delicious dessert but not too sweet. The shop is so pretty as well, and the pink complements the brand well. They'd make a great gift too! Would recommend this spot.
google avatar

Jaemin L.

Yelp
Omg SO cute and SO good When the person at the counter spoke with a French accent I had a feeling this place could be really good and they did NOT disappoint. I went to levain bakery after this and thought -- if I had to choose between the two -- I would come back Here. There are a ton of options for their chous-- I regret not trying them all. I will be returning promptly before I leave NYC.
google avatar

Rosie E.

Yelp
Mon petit chou! One of the Best bakeshop in the neighborhood and c'est français. they have the loveliest staff and bakers. Very kind and accommodating. Thursdays are the best, only day you'll get to have their cinnabun! It is by far ze best i've had. xRosie
google avatar

Ronak P.

Yelp
Overall underwhelming. For their puffs, flavor could be improved if they had flavored filling instead of toppings with plain creaM inside. (1-2 seemed to be flavored fillings inside) got the Pistachio which had a pistachio filling and was levels better than all the others we had gotten. Overall looks better than it tastes.
google avatar

Gary M.

Yelp
These cream puffs are worth the try. I came in and bought 6 for $17. But even better, they were celebrating their 5 month anniversary so I got 3 more free. The original and hazelnut were the best ones out of the bunch. Don't get me wrong, you can't go wrong picking any of them. I'll have to come back and try the few flavors I didn't buy. The boxes they come in are perfect for gifts.

Yelp
Deliciously decadent flavor bombs. Got the chocolate, tiramisu, lemon meringue; passion fruit, mango, and rose cream puffs. Absolutely in love with these.
