My friend and I checked out Barachou for dessert since we were in the area. The shop is very small, and if they decide to expand, I hope they decide to offer more seating options. Right now, there's only room for one party to sit down, so you either need to bank on the fact that you're going at an off-time, or know you're grabbing and going. The displays are cute and cozy, and the presentation of the tarts, puffs, and pastries are beautiful.
I was pleasantly surprised by these puffs, as I thought they would just be instagrammable and offer nothing else. We got the special of three puffs for $10. The puffs are tiny and bite-sized, which is the only reason I think they are overpriced. We got the passionfruit puffs and split the lemon meringue. If you like passionfruit, I highly recommend the passionfruit puff. The tangy flavor really came through and balanced nicely with the pastry, even with a generous amount of filling. I would have liked a stronger lemon flavor for the lemon meringue, but it may have been influenced by the power of passionfruit.
These puffs would make a great gift for someone special who likes pastries, or a treat for yourself if you're treating yourself. I'm just a glutton who isn't a big fan on spending on something that is so tiny, but I cannot deny that it was a quality bite.
