First time for this old German eating Cuban and I have to admit, it was absolutely delicious. Service and all amazingly perfect. I highly recommend this place. Bring the family too because 1 plate will feed them all.

Do not eat here! They overcharge you and do not want to answer the phone because no one there speaks English! I purchased the codfish which was $26 and some change and after taxes it was $29. I look into my account and they overcharged me $20 when pending in my account and when they charge went through, they overcharge me $10 - when I didn’t order anything else! So instead of them fixing this, I’m leaving this review. And it’s sad because my sister and I dubbed this as a favorite place to eat as we’ve been there about four times already. Be careful because on the website on their menu, there are no pricesand look at your receipts because they will overcharge you! As of this current post, I called about five minutes ago and the guy hung up on me and I tried to call back again and he doesn’t want to answer. I think if they are going to assist the public and someone there needs to learn how to speak English

Stopped by for a snack on a weekend evening. Food and service was good. Live music band was so so (this is typically a hit or miss item anywhere). Recommended.

All our food was just perfect and authentic. We had the ropa vieja and the sirloin steak. The yuca was delicious. Salad was fresh. Everything absolutely delicious.

Always hits the spot when we’re in the mood for a solid Cuban sandwich. We almost always order that and some empanadas and have never been let down. If you’re on the fence, give it a try.

The only bad thing about coming here is the parking. There might not be easy parking. But the torta are delicious. It was made simple but really good. I would come back again!

Baracoa is a gem. A neighborhood institution, with friendly staff and comforting simple food. Be warned though, the Arroz con Pollo runs out because people love it so much! Go early in the day if you want yours. We love this spot.

Service was great! Our server was so sweet and attentive despite the busy crowd at 7pm. I got the steak sandwich and it was delicious and very much worth the price. When I go back I want to try the fried plantains as well.

Baracoa is my go-to restaurant when I'm in Atwater. The food is delicious and I always leave happy. The ropa vieja is an absolute dream. The flavoring of the meat is great and not overwhelming. It is served with rice, beans and plantains. The media noche sandwich is outstanding. It is served in a sweet bread with mustard, cheese, pork and ham. Parking can be tough but I always manage.

The food was truly amazing! Pollo al horno was phenomenal. The service was fantastic. It's cute inside and truly enjoyed every bit of it.

Yes! As food prices everywhere go up and up, and more restaurant food seems over-processed, their chicken and rice lunch plate was a comfort food relief. For less than the cost of a foot-long combo from Subway, you can try a steamed quarter chicken with yellow rice, maduros, and a house salad. It's delicious real food made from scratch. Definitely worth dropping by.

My server read my mind. I didn't know what I wanted but somehow she convinced me of one of my new fav dishes. The Ropa Vieja was amazing with the most tender shredded beef. The polla al horno was great, falling off of the bone. Plus the tostones with the garlic oil on the side was amazing. Music was good and the lights weren't too bright.

Food be hitting found this spot a month ago and been getting stuff once a week. Can't go wrong with Cuban food since I'm from Florida hard to find these spots

Excellent. I don't live locally to the restaurant, but my friend of Cuban heritage introduced me to the spot a couple years ago and everything about the place is just great. It's has a peaceful, relaxing ambience, pleasant and professional staff, a good selection of options and no matter what you order, it will come well prepared, made with quality ingredients and delivers quite the flavor. I drove by the other night and thought they had closed down, but it turns out that they are just closed on Tuesdays!

Terrible service. Atwater deserves a better restaurant. They are never busy and never pick up the phone.

Delicious Cuban food and attentive service in a cozy inviting atmosphere. Since I'm vegan I usually get a bunch of sides. Black beans, white rice, avocado salad , fried tostones and that's enough to make me happy and going back to this place like it's my job. I also love their Sangria. It's not just some chopped fruit in a glass with red wine poured over it. It's legit Sangria. And as I mentioned the service there is always so warm and welcoming. Like you just went to your aunt and uncles place for dinner. Parking can be kind of tricky on that street because of all the different businesses but it's not impossible. Oh and non vegans you'll love it here too. My husband the non vegan loves it and so do friends and family I've taken here. Definitely check them out!

We came in on a Saturday afternoon because we were craving some Cuban food. The yelp reviews seemed promising, so my sister, mom, and I decided to come for a late lunch. The service was atrocious. Cashier/waitress seemed bothered we came in, but the place was empty. No friendly smile, nothing, just an unwelcoming demeanor. We took a look at the menu, but we already felt like a bother so we got up and left. Can't say much about the food, but the service alone was enough for us to leave. If you want friendly attentive service - this is not the place to go.

I came for dinner during the week and I enjoyed it very much. Since I came late I missed out on Arroz con Pollo, but next time. I had the Papa Relleno and it was tasty. The meat inside was really good and filling. For my entree I had Carne con Papas which comes with rice and beans. The dish itself was so filling and the beef was cooked perfectly. I typically do not eat rice, but I almost finished it because I love how the beans were mixed in with the rice. Overall my dinner was delicious and satisfying. I have to come back again and try the arroz on pollo. There is metered street parking available.

Not the place I would recommend if you're looking for authentic Cuban food. Not to say it's bad. Just not Cuban food by any means. It's more of the bland "American" Spanish food. I didn't enjoy it much, but maybe that's because I had my heart set on something. The women working were amazing . I appreciate the service. Place was clean and cute. I recommend the aroz con leche ( ask for it warm, trust me ) lol

Oh my goodness. What cold, bordering on nasty, service I got. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, the place was nearly empty, and I just got a nasty look from the Hispanic cashier. No hi or any acknowledgment at all otherwise. I was staring at the menu for a minute and even then no help or acknowledgment offered. Plus it was a little odd that my sandwich came out to $20 even when I said I was paying cash (no receipt offered, hmmm). Only reason not one star is that the steak sandwich was pretty good.

Another mom n pop Cuban restaurant crossed off my list. We thought the entrées, salad, dessert at this cute cafe was very good. Entrée portions are definitely shareable between two hungry adults. The appetizers of calamari and papa rellena (potato balls) we tried were terrible. I skip those next time. If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend their house made flan. Very good. The "best sellers" here according to our waitress are the Arroz con Pollo (chicken rice) and Ropa Vieja (Shredded beef braised with veggies and aromatics); also the Media Noche Sandwich. I am sure will be back at some point on multiple visits try them out. Overall, we like it here. From what I can tell, it's never overly crowded with high take-out volume from locals/hipster area. Service is friendly. Parking around here is not fun.

You need to update your hours online. Showed up on Sunday at 830 because i wanted a sandwich to go and your doors were locked. Drove a long way too. Nobody

Food was tasty (you could eat the rice all by itself) although a little oilier than what I normally prefer. Flavors were spot on. Service was a little sad as I had to request for water after waiting for 20 min. The arroz con pollo was gone by 7 pm.

Although I didn't get a picture of it I highly recommend the media noche sandwich. The ropa vieja was okay. I liked the carne con papas and the arroz con leche. The service was great and they were very friendly.

Cuban food brought me back to my roots! The server was so sweet she kept calling me "mi amor" it made me absolutely melt! Yucca frita was crispy, salad was avg, Mamey shake was mmm so creamy and perfectly sweet and the arroz con pollo was moist, flavorful sweet and salty and came w plantains! Only bummer is it didn't come with black beans, it's a whole other side you need to order separately. There's lots of cute stores and places to walk to in the area, good hang out spot.

This place is and has always been phenomenal. I am genuinely confused by any negative reviews. Not once had anyone been rude to me when I've called to place my order and pick it up or when we've eaten there. The ropa vieja, carne con papas, and arroz con pollo are our favorites. Their empanadas and of course the plantains (we prefer sweet but both are good) are also amazing. Our kids love the rice and beans and buttered bread. They're very kid friendly when you eat in. Highly recommend!!! Headed there to pick up our Father's Day dinner in a bit.

Picked up dinner here again for the 3rd or 4th time tonight and have eaten there a time or two now as well. NEVER disappoints. The food is amazing and they have lots of wines to choose from (and make a mean Sangria). The prices are very fair and for the quality and portions a pretty damn good deal. What we have tried as a family includes: the Ropa Vieja, Lechon, Arroz con Pollo and another chicken dish that I can't recall the name. So, it was good but not as memorable as these others. Also tried the Tres Leches and it was so sweet and rich it took 3 days to eat it all. LOL There are several other menu items we want to try but get stuck on our favorites. There's a shrimp dish that is supposed to be amazing and I really want to try their Cuban. May be going back again sooner than later. The pics are from the first time we picked up. Has easily become one of our favorite spots.

Shout out to my yelp friend Cindy who found this place for me. I originally was going to get the pork, but I saw 'jerk chicken' on the menu. I was too curious, so I got the 'jerk chicken.' Unfortunately, it was more interesting than good. It doesn't taste like traditional jerk chicken. There's no carribean spices, it just seems like it was their own thing. Granted the waitress warned me it was spicy, and it was so spicy, I almost didn't like it. The flavors were very interesting, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I would love to come back and try their traditional cuban dishes, and I won't punish this restaurant with an unfair review.

Great food and it matches the price. Food is flavorful and will send you back to Baracoa. Place is cute and feels like a piece of Cuba and the ambiance is warm. The service is great and Estefani and Aleks are nice and welcoming.

Awesome!! I had the Ropa Vieja, and my girlfriend had the Cuban sandwich (with plenty of plantains on the side obviously). Everything was served fresh and hot, and the vibe & ambiance were excellent. I'll be back!!

I love Cuban food and authentic food. This place has it all. From the outside it may look like a little place but inside a romantic place for a date or quiet place for a lunch meeting or quiet lunch alone to get work done while you eat. Service is always great. When she ask for Togo the food is the same as if you go it in the restaurant. Most restaurants give you smaller portions or skimp this restaurant does not. I love that on a beautiful day you can sit outside and enjoy a meal and take in the fresh air and enjoy a meal with great service. This is a must place to try you won't regret.

This place has been here for awhile, and I love love CUBAN food! Want to know how to tell if a Cuban restaurant is legit? Order the quintessential Cuban dish, Ropa Vieja. Ropa Vieja is a yummy stew with beef and is THEE national dish in Cuba. Woot Woot cuz this spot offers a DELISH Ropa Vieja! The stew's wine tomato sauce is delectable. The staff was ultra-polite and welcomed us in the typical hospitable Cuban way. The food was delish (we ordered the Ropa Vieja dish, a vegetarian sandwich, yucca and two Iron Beers). The wait time was reasonable. This place is soooo worth the trip to Atwater... Cinco stars

I really wanted to like this place because of the amazing reviews, but the food was mediocre at best, maybe because I'm used to eating at places like Versaille or Habana Vieja. My first choice was El Cochinito, but unfortunately they are closed on Monday's. My cousin and her bf was visiting from London and they had never tried Cuban before so was hoping to take them to a delicious place. Maybe it was an off day? There was only server, but the restaurant is pretty small, around 8 tables. My husband and I got there first and we knew the other party was going to be late so we ordered a Cubano as an appetizer, but she never put the order in. Not a problem, because we ended up ordering it once they arrived. I read in the reviews that someone said it was the worst Cubano she had and I unfortunately have to agree - very little amount of meat, pickles, couldn't taste the mustard, but the bread was nice. We also ordered the Bistec De Palomilla which was overcooked, dry and had gristly/fat parts that were off putting. The onions on top were good and the sweet plantains/maduros were the best item of the night. We ordered an extra side of them too. The Lechon had the same issue of being overcooked and I'm used to it being shredded with a delicious citrusy note. This was tough, flattened out and bland. The rice and beans were OK, a little overcooked and a bit flavorless, but edible. Finally, the Papas Rellenas - I'm pretty sure they were microwaved because the outside was so soggy instead of crispy and the inside was pretty bland. The one female server that was working that night was very attentive and sweet, but I wouldn't drive 30 minutes to come back. It is in a cute area and there were a decent amount of metered parking spots.

Absolutely incredible food and really nice staff! This is one of the best meals I've had in awhile. We went with the Arroz Con Pollo, Media Noche Sandwich and a side of Yucca Fries. The rice was the most flavorful rice I've ever had, so fluffy and tasted incredible. The chicken was super flavorful as well and perfectly tender, basically fell off of the bone. Yucca was fried perfectly and served with a simple olive oil and garlic dipping sauce. Some of the best yucca fries I've had. The plantains were crispy and had a great level of sweetness without being toooo candied. The Media Noche was on the same level, pork was delicious, the ratios were on spot, and the sweet roll was perfect. The kind of meal that just leaves you saying "wow". Will be back ASAP!

Wonderful service. Clean restaurant. There are not too many Cuban restaurants on this part of LA. I wish there was a bit more sazon in the rice and more sauce in the stew. Decently good. I chose to dine here because it is Cuban family operated. I excepted it to be less Americanized. If you are LatinX do not be discouraged, it's still a solid 8.5/10.

My family and I are Cuban descent and found this while in the wall restaurant after exiting the Glendale Forest Lawn cemetery. We were there on a Friday after visiting the crucifixion resurrection mural which is a must see. I order the garlic shrimp with rice and beans. The shrimp was salty and the beans were bland. My family members ordered different meals ranging from bistec encebollado, jerk chicken (very small piece of chicken), bistec de palomilla, and sandwich cubano. The rice pudding was not sweet at all and was very watery. Why I gave this a 4 star instead of 3 was because of our female server. She made the atmosphere so great and inviting. She's a gem. I wish I remembered her name. As a Cuban I get it a meh. Nada del otro mundo. If you get what I mean.

Worst Cuban sandwich I've ever had... There isn't very many placed you can get an authentic Cuban sandwich here in LA, so you'd think at a Cuban restaurant you would, right? WRONG!!! Never again would I order from this spot.

El servicio me precio pésimo la verdad y bastante irrespetuoso fui a este lugar con la intención de introducir a mi amigo a la comida y cultura cubana y el servicio fue pésimo la persona al frente con el teléfono todo el tiempo tenía que gritar o estar con la mano levantada mas de 5 minutos porque la empleada en su teléfono siento que fue una falta de respeto porque buscaba introducir a alguien a la cultura cubana y no fue la mejor experiencia lo vasos plásticos pedi que fueran cambiados por unos de cristal y me dijeron que no tenían!!!,no pude comunicarme con la persona al frente porque no sabe inglés (recomiendo prestar un poco más de atmención en el servicio y contratar a personas que quieran trabajar y respetar la cultura cubana) cambiar platos y vasos tienen marcas que no se quitan y la verdad no es muy agradable comer en platos manchados! esto es una crítica constructiva siento que este lugar puede ofrecer mejor servicio y calidad!la comida es buena pero lo demás la verdad le resta!!!!

I had it in my head to go to a different restaurant I won't name but I remembered how much I love Media Noches when I saw this restaurants special. They did not disappoint.

Always highly recommend this café in the heart Atwater Village. The place has been here for quite a while, even surviving covid. The prices are good, the food is fabulous. Only very small critique, update their sign outside, missing a letter... needs a refresh.

My first time visiting this tiny and I mean tiny establishment was yesterday 4/29/23 the wait was a bit long only one waitress working, food was expensive, I ordered the oxtail 3 pieces for $30.00 no plantins with my meal waitress says, it did not come with any . My granddaughter ordered the sirloin steak to get a flat piece of I guess skirt steak, flat, chewy and dry for $24.95, bread was an extra charge too.. over all my meal for two people came up to $97.00 with tip Welcome to Glendale! Service would be better if they had more than one waitress, but then, they would be bumping into each other since the restaurant was so tiny.

My friend took me to eat here yesterday. I ordered the lechón which is roasted pork. It was the best lechón I've had for years. It was perfectly cooked. I also ordered a side of plátano frito even though the dish already came with it. You can never go wrong with that. Gio was our server. She was quick, attentive, and kind. Food and ambiance were authentic. I will definitely come back here and bring my family and friends.

We were running errands and decided to hang out in Atwater, very chic and laid back town. Didn't have any reservations to go to a particular restaurant. Lately during covid I been feeling more of let's try a place and support local businesses. Not really looking at yelp to steer me in any direction but only on what I should order. So today we decided on Cuban. We have not even had Cuban together. We got two empanadas and their shredded pork with rice and black beans. We devoured the empanadas sorry not so sorry no pictures. It was really good with sour cream and tomatoes they provided on the side to add with the empanadas. The shredded pork with rice and black beans tasted comforting with really good tomato based sauce. We literally at the end dumped all the rice and bean in the sauce and ate it all. I recommend this place. They have outdoor seating and yummy sangria! Enjoy!

The food here was so good! We had been to Versailles in the past and it was so basic and not worth the calories. My partner and I both had the Rabo and it was just what we wanted for dinner. So glad we finally tried this place. Will definitely be back

Super delicioso, exelente atención, el sabor es cubano aunque el cosinero es mexicano lleva 22 años trabajando allí y cosina como cubano. El arroz con pollo es mojadito y los tostónes son los mejores. Y el flan buenísimo también todo aquí save espectacular. 100% recomendado.
