Yelp
Baraka Shawarma Ratings: 4.1/5
Food: 4.25/5 - This is one of the few places that was open during Fourth of July, and we have no idea what we were expecting but Yelp reviews seem pretty good. The shawarma here is delicious and tasty and located at a great location, literally a 10 minutes walk from the aquarium, so a solid find. See the description of the huge wrap we all got below.
- Chicken Shawarma Wrap [GET]: The chicken is thinly sliced and roasted slowly on the rotisserie rack. The chicken is tender, perfectly seasoned and packed with lots of spices. It might look a bit dry without the sauce, but please get the garlic sauce and drizzle it all over, because it is so FIRE. The garlic flavor is hella strong, but not too overpowering the chicken, instead it is light and refreshing that makes you want more. There won't be a strong garlic smell afterwards. I wasn't a big fan of the pita bread, because it is so thin and got a paper type of texture. I wanted a more doughy and pillow-y texture. It also comes with onions, cabbage, and diced tomatoes.
Ambiance: 3.75/5 - The shop is quite small, no fancy furniture, or pretty decorations, just straight up looks old and questionable, but do not let its cover fool you. It is a local mom-and-pop shop trying to serve authentic food. There's open displays of the kitchen such as the revolving rotisserie rack and meat / dessert containers. This is a great spot to get something casual and quick. Indoor seating is available.
Price: 4.25/5 - My siblings and I all the jumbo chicken shawarma wrap for $9.49 before tax. This place is definitely worth it, and half way through the meal we thought we should have just ordered the regular size, because it was huge with comes with a ton of meat. We all left there incredibly full with a happy tummy.
Service: 4/5 - There's two ladies working, one making the food and the other one taking our orders. The lady at the front was nice, friendly, and patiently answering our questions and explaining the differences between the wraps, platters, and sauces. The food came out quick, and the packaging was clean and neat. I was impressed with the service and the hospitality here.
BLUF: Authentic and super hole-in-the-wall place serving Mediterranean / Middle Eastern type of food in Downtown, Atlanta. Great people and prices. Make sure to get the chicken shawarma wrap or a platter and get the garlic sauce. It is messy to eat, but definitely worth it. Would recommend if you are in the area.
