Nice Makes the Best Panisse, the French Riviera’s Chickpea Fries | Eater

"A long-established Vieux Nice pasta-maker since 1892, set back from the Cours Saleya and known for specialties like daube-filled ravioli as well as parcooked, saucer-shaped panisse sold ready for home frying; the shop also supplies panisse to local restaurants." - Chrissie McClatchie

Recommended to us and did not disappoint. Obviously popular, and with good reason. We enjoyed the ginger and lemon ravioli. We loved it so much that we went back again. This time the kind gentleman serving us, suggested that we mix the ravioli so we did, buying the lemon and ginger and another ricotta filled one. Not too much pasta and a great, delicate but tasty filling. Their tomato sauce was fabulous too. Had a good chat with the gentleman who served us. He was helpful about how to prepare the ravioli and sauce. Clearly a foodie, delightful, enthusiastic and friendly. When I return to Nice I'm definitely coming back here! Highly recommended. Amazing pasta and staff! 😃 thank-you so much!

We passed this Shop on our morning walk through the city and decided to buy some ravioli with ricotta and tartufo plus tomato sauce as takeaway. In the evening we prepared them as dinner. Both ravioli are brilliant - clearly recommend. Will come back again to try other verities.

A lovely small shop selling fresh raviolis, pastas, sauces, and some cheese. I think it only cost maybe 4 euro for two types, which we tossed in a light bolognese sauce and served with a lemon Caesar salad. Great service and delicious taste! Merci!

Fresh and handmade pasta. We took the ravioli citron and the ravioli niçois. Both really delicious for cooking at home. The ravioli nicois was the most delicious one. Together with the tomato sauce with olives and capers, a perfect evening dish. Recommendation: Order for 3 persons if you want to eat it for 2 persons. It’s that delicious 😉 Highly recommended if you are in Nice. Staff was friendly, too.

I passed by here so many times and theres always a queue so I came back at 6pm before they closed and found the shop mostly empty and all to my self. They sell the raviolis by the dozen. The only type left when I was there was the beef and spinach. I got ten dozens to go and a special sauce made out of tomatoes, olives and basil (I think?). You boil the raviolis for 4 minutes and no need to cut them because they will separate with a wooden spoon. Even I can make it well. The whole family loved it. It's a win. 10 dozens of raviolis plus a container of sauce for 20 euros exactly.

If you are looking for fresh hand made pasta gnocchi, ravioli, etc… la ‘maison Barale’ is the place to buy them. They have been referenced in tv shows, magazine and by top chefs. My uncle who lives in Nice highly recommended them so we bought ravioli there with sauce aux cèpes and they were amazing. Wait line can be long but well worth it. Since it is freshly made, they ran out quickly so try go in morning to get full selection. When we came there around noon they were almost out of ravioli.

Absolutely DELICIOUS fresh gnocchi and wonderful caper, basil and tomato sauce. Perfect for cooking in my apartment one evening instead of going out. The man who served me was super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Well you know you have found the best place for fresh pasta in Nice when you have to line up 1 hour in the street to buy some raviolis and gnocchi 2 days before Christmas and everyone in line think the wait is worth it. Yep the wait was worth it. Not a lot of choices: gnocchi, panisse, a few ravioli flavors, fettuccine... but all they do they do fresh and it's outstanding. My favorite is their lemon and ginger raviolis which luckily for me is not a crowd favorite so they seldomly run out of that one. I have tried a few other fresh pasta stores in Nice but maison Barale is at the top, no question about it.

Yelp
For sure when you're a element of the diaspora nissarda, La Maison Barale has a strong signification and makes you cry also! And if you're a tourist also I think you gonna cry specially if u love Gnocchis and all traditional pastas not from the Supermarket. Go, eat and dream!
