Best Sandwiches in Oakland, Berkeley, and the East Bay | Eater SF

"Don’t sleep on this gem of a family-run deli, which has been holding it down in a nondescript San Leandro strip mall since 1986. These days, the newly renovated deli is known, in part, for creative, customer-inspired specialty sandwiches with names like the “Bam Bam” and the “Heat Seeker.” But this is also one of the East Bay’s top spots if you just want a classic cold-cut sandwich. Its most famous offering is probably its so-called Bay Area Special, a Dagwood Bumstead-like beast of a triple-decker sandwich that’s loaded with sliced-to-order roast beef, turkey, and ham." - Luke Tsai

Google
Bara's Deli is an absolute gem in San Leandro. From their warm, welcoming atmosphere to their friendly staff, their location is in a humble strip-mall. Each sandwich is constructed with fresh, high-quality ingredients that tastes amazing. You can tell they put a lot of care into their creations. I got their Lemon Pepper (R) & their Rav's Fire (L) sandwiches and they were flavorful and packed with meat.

Google
Was on my way home and a sandwich sounded good so I stopped and picked up a smoked turkey with everything on it and some of their potato salad which is off the hook. Been eating at Brahe’s deli for 35 years and their sandwiches beat out anyone’s sandwich anywhere. Guaranteed I highly recommend them and always have and I will continue to give them my business.

Google
I can’t say enough good things about Bsra’s Deli! Their sandwiches are absolutely top-notch—fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced flavors, and generous portions. You can tell they put care into every bite. The bread was fresh and soft, the meats and veggies were high quality, and the sauces tied everything together beautifully.

Google
I was told this was a San Leandro staple! I got the Rav’s sandwich with turkey, sprouts, and cranberry relish on Dutch crunch! It was so good!

Google
I’ve been a customer since way before the remodel. The family that owns this shop is some of the best people/ persons I’ve ever met. The sandwiches are the best. The service is great, and the love is reciprocated. I will forever be a loyal customer. If you’ve never tried, you MUST. Don’t sleep on this staple of the community. Reason I listed as pricey, is simply because I buy multiple items for myself. 😂

Google
We had a work event with food planned that fell through last minute. I called Bara’s Deli and they were able fill a large, last-minute order. Everyone raved about how amazing the sandwiches were! I ordered The Vatican and it was delicious! Amazing meat to bread ratio. I will definitely be ordering again!

Google
Baras is hands down one of the best delis in San Leandro .And still has some of the best sandwiches year after year. Highly recommend. If you go there once you'll be back for another sandwich soon. It's that good.

Google
Fresh Sandwiches & Delicious Soups! Loved that they had a Gluten-Free bread option. They also have a huge variety of chips and drinks. Will definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Always great! , the best service, always clean, they have different options to choose from.

Yelp
I tried the cali-club, and it was delicious. The aioli sauce they used went really well with it, and the sandwich itself was pretty big. I also tried the green pesto pasta and the potato salad, and both were ok IMO but I did like the potato salad better. Very good deli, I do recommend and I will be returning.

Yelp
San Leandro may not be known as a food city, but Bara's Deli is a hidden gem that proves otherwise. When I discovered this spot, I was honestly ecstatic. The sandwiches here are loaded & packed with high-quality meats, fresh bread, and cheese that actually tastes like cheese. Everything feels freshly sliced and made with care. Yes, the price can range anywhere from $12-$20 depending on what you order, but you 100% get what you pay for. These sandwiches are massive, flavorful, and satisfying. This is not your typical chain deli like Ike's, Togo's, or Subway. Bara's is a true mom-and-pop shop that takes pride in what they serve. I'm so glad San Leandro has a spot like this. I'd honestly recommend people come to San Leandro just to try one of these sandwiches.

Yelp
I wish there was 1/2 scores bc this place would be a 3.5. I didn't want to do a 4, it's too generous. Sandwich sizes are big. You can't choose your own size sandwich, or have it in a bowl, and some of us just don't eat bread. We arrived about 11 am not to busy inside but the take out orders were overflowing. Took a selfie at the selfie station, and ordered our food. Husband got the Italian combo, and I took the Cali turkey club. We both had mushy tomatoes on ours and it soured the taste. Other than that my husband loved his sandwich and the sides were fantastic, potato salad and olives! My turkey was dry, avocado was brown, and I was definitely underwhelmed.. From all the hype this place gets I really wanted to love it, but I think it's a 1 and done for me.

Yelp
I have not prior had food from this deli, but my family dropped in surprising me with an incredible delicious sandwich with turkey, cranberries, cream, cheese, lettuce, tomato it was superb The bread on each sandwich as they had a couple sandwiches too was so soft. It was like it was literally just made. . There's no skimping on the meat and cheese in any of the sandwiches. The bread is fresh. Everything very flavorful. We shared the macaroni and potato salad, which also was yummy . The desserts also were homemade they were excellent . If you haven't been give this place a try, you will be glad you did . Bon appétit

Yelp
Came back to try the James' special which is chicken on a toasted buttermilk bread. I didn't know you could CHOOSE the seasoning if the chicken. What? Amazing. We got the chipotle chicken with the chipotle sauce. So, so, so good. The owner and staff are friendly, the drinks case is still one of the best I've seen (Palestine Cola was perfection), and lots of fun and interesting chips. I just noticed they have an "exotic" drinks and chips section behind the counter, for those always looking to try new and rare things. The vibe is nice inside. Clean, well-lit, busy. There are a lot of options, which can feel a bit daunting, but that's the fun of it.

Yelp
We were looking for a sandwich / takeout spot around the East Bay on Yelp, and landed on Bara's Deli. I liked the variety they had when I was initially looking at the menu, but I think it came to be one of those places that were good, but not great IMO. We ordered online and our order was ready by the time we arrived (~20 minutes). It was pretty empty for a Saturday morning, so we were in and out in as soon as we picked up our order. I ordered the Michelangelo (prosciutto and Italian salami, mozzarella cheese, basil, tomatoes, pepperoncini, oil & vinegar, and garlic aioli spread on a soft roll). They're GENEROUS with the portions here which I appreciated! Half of a sandwich ended up getting me full. For the sandwich itself, it was pretty well-made; I just wasn't a fan of how salty the prosciutto and salami tasted. I'd probably opt for a different sandwich in the future. I also tried the Heat Seeker and thought it was also just okay.

Yelp
This is a top notch deli. I'm adding it to my regular lunch rotation! A judge at the juvenile court recommended it and it did not disappoint!

Yelp
Bara's really is Bay Areas best kept secret. The sandwiches here are fresh and delicious. A large option of chips and drinks and deli salads as well. Parking is not the greatest but service is always quick, staff friendly and just a community vibe inside. Def recommend coming to try them out!

Yelp
My daughter recommended this and she told us to order from here and it will be her treat lol. I ordered the Gobller with everything on it coz I want all kinds of flavor lol my hubby got the Chicken on ciabatta something something. Forgot the whole name lol. Everything was great and the place is clean. I love their simple decor. Reasonable price with ample parking. The staff were great as well. Definitely recommend this place. We will come back to try other stuff
google avatar

Yelp
Generous portion and fresh ingredients I ordered via SMS and the process was straight forward. I arrived 10 min earlier than the estimated ready time and the order was ready. I ordered the roast beef & horseradish white cheddar sandwich and the lemon pepper chicken club sandwich. Both are delicious with packed meat and fresh ingredients.

Yelp
One of my fave deli in San Leandro! This place is good, pricey, yes but worth it. Their Dutch crunch bread is amazing. The customer service is good. Come check them up.

Yelp
Best deli sandwich you could get on the east Bay in San Leandro, California. So come on down you will not regret this one. And I'm a repeat customer at that! No need for photos because sandwich is gone every time. Lol

Yelp
Wanted this to be a four but I just can't do it. The sandwich looked great. The ideas behind the sandwich sound amazing I like the vibe of the place the chip and beverage selection is amazing and the staff was great, however the sandwich just wasn't up to par in my opinion. I find that if the bread is good that's half the battle. My sandwich was on a Dutch crunch roll. Could tell the roll was not fresh seamed like it was 2 days old. If I'm paying $19 for a sandwich I expect the bread to be fresh. I ordered the Vatican. It claimed it had burrata cheese but it was actually just fresh mozzarella. I love fresh mozzarella but was definitely misleading. The sandwich is sauced with balsamic vinegar and oil which is nice however it's dowsed on the shredded lettuce. This is a bad choice because it makes the lettuce look brown (easy fix). Last thing my wife ordered a godfather the meat portion was very generous however it's a pet peeve of mine if all the meat is just one large dense block that slides around. I wanted to give this place a 4-5 star and think it could easily become an amazing sandwich spot. It just needs to tweak a few things.

Yelp
I keep passing by this deli and not until I saw a review on IG did I think to stop by actually! I came in before noon and right after, the deli got busy. I ordered the Vatican (Prosciutto, Genoa Salami, Soppressata with Burrata Cheese, Garlic Aioli, Pesto, Roasted Red Peppers, Oil & Balsamic Vinegar on a Sourdough Roll) and small clam chowder. The wait wasn't too long for my order, about 15 minutes. First bite of that sandwich and I was in love! Loved the meats and the garlic flavor. Clam chowder is the best I've had in the Bay! I will definitely have to stop by more often!

Yelp
This is a really friendly and cute deli. I ordered the chicken salad on roll it was very fresh and scrumptious

Yelp
I was hungry after walking at Marina Park and checked my bookmarks for a new spot to check out. Bara's came up and I immediately scanned the menu. It always feels nice to support a local small business too. Eats: Caprese Panini + Grilled Chicken Garlic Beef Panini Cali Club x2 Small Caprese Salad Small Pesto Pasta Salad w/ Artichoke I also grabbed family size bags of Ruffles Cheddar & Sour Cream + Original Sun Chips. I dived into the cheesy Caprese panini first, couldn't wait so I ate in the car. Absolutely loved the melted cheese but the bread was soggy and wet from the tomato and pesto. Not sure if it's because the sandwich was prepared by someone being trained? Garlic beef was tasty. Cali club was loaded with ingredients: turkey, cheese, bacon and avocado. Would've liked the bread to be toasted. I wonder if I can request that next time. Toasted bread just elevates a sandwich to a whole new level. I appreciate how they packed the deli salad containers pretty full and took the time to make it look presentable as well. The mini mozzarella balls were layered nicely with fresh basil and plump grape tomatoes. Pesto pasta salad was simple but a great side to the cheesy paninis. I might add some chili flakes next time. I'll have to try the Michaelangelo sandwich which has salami and prosciutto. Check out their impressive back wall of various beverages! Cookies, brownies, and ice cream pints available for sweet tooths.

Yelp
First of I what your saying is completely false. I did not come off aggressive until she gave me attitude. Another one of your customers even spoke to the owner or manager first to say that. I love how everytime someone on here talks about the bad customer service they experience the story you give is that the customer is in the wrong. I have come here multiple times and never had an issue. And like I said if an apology was given everything would have been cool but all i got was sass and disrespect. And no I did not harass her and no I was not difficult. Instead of getting my side your manager was dismissive and kept talking about how his back hurts. Since you have footage that you can review can I request a copy? Then we can really find out what happened. I would love to see how I "harassed" this employee of yours. And also she did not "notice" that my sandwich never came up. I had to ask about my order twice. Your cashier here was not the hero or the victim. She made a mistake. Instead of apologizing she disrespected me and now she's crying wolf.

Yelp
Hidden gem! They literally are the full package in an ideal deli! Maybe not so Italian but they have it down! Portions are not greedy! This place is clean! Love that they include veggies in their sandos cuz everyone needs greens! They have all sorts of cookies, chips and beverages, hot sandos/paninis and your typical pasta salads and soups!!! It gets too busy around lunch time at 12pm so try to order before then! Or the wait time is going to be 20min sometimes... I wish I can order by phone!

Yelp
I'm not a huge sandwich person, but everyonce in awhile I'll have a hankering for one. A colleague told me about this place. I placed my order on-line and picked it up. It's a small spot but has a packed menu. You can create your own or have one of their concoctions and add or delete. I chose the Bay Area Special, hold the lettuce add peperoncini and jalapenos. My sandwich was made and ready as I walked in and purchased a soda separately. Their drink cases have pretty much any drink you would like. Staff not over friendly. But when I got back to office, my sandwich was massive. It reminded me of Mike's Deli in Los Angeles. I could barely get though half. So I saved the other for next day lunch. Best bang for your buck.

Yelp
Love this place been coming here for years! Lunch time is pretty busy but no matter what time of day the customers service is always great. I've gotten lots of sandwiches over the years but one of my favorite is a good ole hot pastrami. Check them out and tell them patty their mom's friend sent you.
google avatar

Kacey P.

Yelp
Variety of chips and drinks. Variety of homemade sides. Variety of meats, cheeses and breads. I love that their sandwich menu isn't a repeat of other sandwich places. Loved the godfather, I would just add pepperoncinis as I've usually had it with pickled artichokes, and provolone/mozzarella cheese.
google avatar

Gail C.

Yelp
Amazing!! I ordered the Cali Club. It didn't disappoint. Lots of meat, fresh produce and the aioli sauce...OMG!!! I wish I had ordered extra. The service was good. The clerk was polite and service quick. Cute deli/store and very clean. I've ordered from other sandwich spots but Bara's is my new favorite. They made a great first impression.
google avatar

Yelp
I am a sandwich lover, and Bara's was definitely a great spot! If I could, it would be a solid 3.5 star. The area is very nice, and the deli shop itself is roomy and inviting! There are spaces for indoor and outdoor dining. There were a variety of sandwiches, and when I asked for a recommendation, the worker said she did not have a favorite, but offered the popular ones. The Godfather was meaty and thick! The salami pulls through with this sandwich and the soft roll was nice. I think it was a bit too salty though! I also liked the Bay Area Special, it was lighter but just as decadent. I wished the dutch crunch was crunchier, but overall solid sandwich. This was a more affordable sandwich spot as well, and I hope to try more flavors in the future.
google avatar

Trenee J.

Yelp
The best sandwiches everrrrrrr! Lots of choices/combinations on the menu, service is fast and servers are polite. Not too pricey either. The inside gives a vintage corner store vibe and has some seating.

Yelp
4/12/25 - In the spirit of this holy season, I will repay unkindness with mercy & forgiveness. Small business ownership is tough. Customers should know that occasionally Bara's workers make mistakes on orders by leaving key ingredients out of a sandwich. ADVICE: Open your sandwich wrapper and check each sandwich BEFORE leaving the restaurant to make sure they are complete. If they are not properly made, address it with management before you leave. It seems in the manager's revised reply, he has provided pathways of error resolution. He also mentioned contacting him via direct message or email as other options. (Everything I previously posted was true). I hope that this suggestion is helpful to customers. I also hope that management will take to heart the comments & suggestions I made. These suggestions will help the viability of your business over time. Blessings.

Yelp
Sundays can be the saddest day of the week simply because a craving for a well crafted sandwich can hit you followed by the realization that this place is closed lol. My absolute favorite sandwich to get from Bara's is their Italian combo - pepperoni, dry salami and mortadella with your choice of cheese (I liked a smoked gouda) and other toppings on a Dutch crunch roll; however, Bara's recommends their soft sweet roll with provolone or mozzarella cheese... to each their own. While the amount of meat packed into this sandwich has varied each time I've ordered it, I've definitely never been hungry afterward. Some other favorites include the Bay Area Special - golden roasted turkey, black forest ham and roast beef with your choice of bread and toppings - and also the Bam Bam - roast beef, pastrami and corned beef with smoked gouda cheese and your choice of bread. The wait time on a sandwich is never too long except for certain sunny Saturdays in the spring/summer when everyone seems to want to grab one before going off to the park.

Yelp
I met up with a good friend of mine for lunch and decided to get sandwiches. It was our first time at Bara's and they did not disappoint! We met up on a Thursday around noon and it was busy! We were able to snag a table and also got our sandwiches within 5 minutes of ordering! Service here is pretty quick which made the lunch rush unnoticeable. I ordered the Bay Area Special with pepper jack cheese on dutch crunch bread. They are very generous with their meat portions and all the other fixings which I loved. I love sandwiches and this sandwich definitely hit the spot. The sandwich came out to be about $13.75 but their portions are huge! I was only able to eat half the sandwich and had leftovers for later :) I will definitely be back to try their other sandwiches if I am in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Bara's, please take this off the menu THE GOBBLER. The mix of ingredients was so bland and did not go well together. I had to take off the bread with cream cheese so it could be tolerable. This is constructive feedback, no disrespect. Cool restaurant.

Yelp
Found this place as I was in the area for an appointment and checked them on Yelp to see they had great star rating but mixed reviews. Didn't know what to expect upon walking in but my service was nothing to complain about. Food did come out fairly quick and that was nice considering it was a lunch rush when I came in. What I ordered- The godfather- based on the description, it reminded me of an Italian sandwich. Thought it was perfect for hubby as this is typically his go to at other sandwich spots and he is a meat eater. We thought the sandwich was okay, actually too much meat IMO maybe needed other fresh ingredients to cut the meaty taste. It was also very huge, not easy to fully bite into. It was also a bit dry maybe more aiolo would have helped. The mechanic- this one was the better of the two. The hot link and pepperoni combo was great. Would love to come back and try a turkey sandwich or other options next time. They do have a great beverage selection as well, bunch of stuff I have never seen.
google avatar

Lee J.

Yelp
Sandwiches are huge and delicious! Is a bit expensive and there is no options that seem to evident for half sandwiches. Very nice clean restaurant! Nice employees. Some times they don't spread the aioli sauce through out the bread or not enough....giving it inconsistency.

Yelp
I was initially drawn to Bara's due to the rave reviews and foodie influencers hyping them up on IG. Parking is pretty difficult, but they do have street parking if you can't find a spot in the lot. It's a good sign that it's busy, indicating the food is worth the hype. I ordered my sandwich online, and when you go inside, there's really no indication of what you should do. There's a sign that says "Pick Up Here," but there is only one cashier manning a long line of walk-ins, making you feel awkward walking up to ask if your order is ready, almost like you're cutting the line of walk ins. When you ask and it's not ready, you feel like an inconvenience and just go back to waiting around. I would suggest they revamp their order system to a modern screen system that actually shows whose order is up, rather than having to interrupt the line. Logistically that probably takes some work but the current system they have needs work. I don't fault them for being busy, but the way you pick up orders is just very antiquated. The first time, I got a roast beef sandwich on Dutch crunch, which is my favorite. It was just okay. The roast beef was tender enough, which I liked, but the flavor was off--almost an artificial smoke flavor that I didn't enjoy. It was fine, super messy to eat, but not worth the wait. Thinking maybe I ordered the wrong thing, I went again and ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, which is my standard for judging any sandwich place. Again, the awkwardness of the pickup. So busy, no idea where my order was, and asking felt like being a bother. It finally came out with an apology from the owner. The staff is trying hard, so I don't blame them; it just needs a revamp. Either more staff, an "order up" screen, or something. I've seen it done better at other places. The grilled chicken sandwich was just average. It had chicken, cheese, veggies, and condiments, which is easy to get right, but it was again super messy to eat. I don't mind a messy sandwich if it's delicious, but this was just average taste-wise, unfortunately. I really wanted to love it, but I didn't. I love small businesses and encourage any biz in this area, so it pains me to leave a less-than-4-star review. But I'm just not into this one and have to be honest.

Yelp
My experience was beyond exceptional at baras deli. I was treated with kindness and my food came fast. I was delighted with how all the ingredients came together so well and the variety of options that they had for drinks is something I have never seen before. My toddler son who is a picky eater enjoyed it and kept eating until full. What a great location that we have in our community! Will come back and will recommend to friends and family. Keep up the great work! Thank you. -A happy customer #barasdeli #buzzybooth

Yelp
Definitely a hidden East Bay gem!! I finally got a chance to try out these sandwiches. There's plenty of parking, the restaurant was tidy and comfy. Although there was one order in front of us, we waited about 5 minutes to place our order at 3:39pm on a Tuesday afternoon. There was a line quickly forming after us. I will definitely place a mobile order next time. Our sandwiches were great. Solid 6" sandwich. Very fresh bread and Boars Head meats. Forgot to add Aioli on my Gobbler sandwich, so they gave me some on the side-although.... No jalapeño spread here. I found some hidden goodies such as giant deli pickles, piroshki's and carrot cake. Yum! The only we didn't get was Warm and Fuzzy's from their team. I guess there's no friendly way of hollering "NEXT!"
google avatar

Verenice B.

Yelp
Got the Hangover sandwich, delightful. Made me wish I was hungover. The Dutch crunch is so good, and the melty meat with jalapeños was perfect. I randomly saw Bara's on IG, and I finally made it out! I've been on a sandwich binge and this sandwich definitely satisfied that taste. Dope deli with so much to offer. Has a whole little convenience store with so many options for drinks and snacks. The staff is super nice and they have so much swag. If you buy any of their gear, and wear it, you even get a discount on your food. Can't wait to try more

Yelp
Driving around San Leandro, we were looking for a good place to stop by for lunch. We came across Bara's Deli on Yelp and saw the good reviews and good looking photos, so decided to stop here. Staff and Service: - Order your sandwich at the register and they'll call your name when your sandwich is ready - Friendly guy working the register (possibly the owner as we overheard someone sitting down saying they were the owner's wife and she was eating there with her kid.) Food: - Bara's Combo: my friend who ordered this sandwich wasn't a fan of it. He wasn't sure what the brown sauce was that came with it and the Italian salami tasted like it was perhaps a vegan meat? - Build your own: I ordered a build your own sandwich with their Cajun Turkey, pepper Jack cheese, and extra pickles. It came with a garlic aioli and lettuce. As you can see from the photo, this was a monstrous sandwich with two layers of Turkey! While I was initially excited about this, it was difficult to eat, leaving me having to eat in sections. This doesn't sound terrible, but I couldn't get all the flavors together. The ciabatta bread tasted dry and the Turkey was on the dry side also. - Pesto Pasta Salad: flavorful pasta salad with pesto, olives, and artichokes. Different sizes available Miscellaneous: - Parking via parking lot shared with other businesses - Three tables inside eat at and some seating (not tables) outside

Yelp
We decided to give this spot another chance. This time I went in to order with the boyfriend and tried something different. The sandwiches are 4, really close to 5 stars no question! (just missing a little something extra) However the service is was not the friendliest and the guy taking our order seemed distracted and in no way made me, the paying customer feel like a priority. I get that we all have bad, overwhelming or just frustrating days - But the show must go on. It was a busy Saturday, so there were many people coming and going. But the wait was not too long and they have outdoor seating available as well. *Oh, we also wished they had a larger variety of chips.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in the area . A bit pricey but food is good . They got something for everyone

Yelp
Can't go wrong with this deli!! Back again for another fresh tasting Turkey, Roast Beef, Bacon and Avocado Sandwich with the Garlic Aioli Sauce. I also got their meatball, which is one of the best ones. I called in the order and ready when I got there in about 20mins.

Yelp
Family business that I get to enjoy a quality sandwich from. Fairly priced with a large selection of drinks and chips.

Yelp
Craving a tuna salad sandwich, I went to Bara's Deli and arrived too late for tuna. Had Chicken Salad sandwich and it was delish! Love all the fixin's that come with sandwich and choice of breads. Haven't been here since pandemic and am pleased to have tables/chairs for seating now. They still have the wonderful, friendly service and the place is very clean. I'll be back.

Yelp
I've tried multiple sandwiches here and I liked it all! It's my go to spot and worth the money I'd recommend this place for sure if you're ever in the area go get you one!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now since I'm close by. Sometimes a sandwich just hits the spot. It has a surprisingly big parking lot and if for whatever reason there is none, there's another bit log across the street where the dollar store is located. The outside looks rundown but this hole in the wall spot is a hidden gem with a nice clean interior. There are 2 lines as soon as you walk in the door, 1 for pickup and the other is walk in order. I got their Heat Seeker sandwich under customer inspirations. It was made of Pastrami, hot links and pepper jack cheese on Dutch crunch bread. This sandwich was delicious. It was a filling sandwich with a lot of condiments like mayo and mustard as well as tomato and lettuce that kind of made everything slip out as soon as you bite into it, so be careful. It wasn't spicy like I thought it would be, only a kick of heat. I will come back to try their other sandwiches. Everything was really quick and service was nice.

Yelp
An absolutely amazing deli amidst the chain restaurants of San Leandro. Amazing selection of sandwiches , salads and the like. On this occasion, our group sampled the Godfather( big as your head) and the chipotle on chipotle. So delicious. One of our party had a custom sandwich that included cranberry sauce and hot sauce and polish mustard. Weird but delicious. There's an enormous drink fridge and I daresay includes every drink known to man. We stood in line behind some local firefighters who ordered a million sandwiches and we still got ours quickly. The counter folks were polite and patient. The interior is basic and seating is less than abundant. Who cares? The sandwiches are otherworldly. They have soup also but the clam chowder was meh. Parking is also generous. Oh, lots of chip option and we had hot Funyons!

Yelp
I didn't mind it, but everything had a lot of garlic. I enjoy garlic, but when it's in every bite, it can be a bit overwhelming. The sandwich had the garlics distinct flavor, and the sides were strong with it as well. The ingredients seemed to be good quality. I probably won't come back for the sides, but I might give the sandwich another try.

Yelp
The minute I walked in I was greeted. The menu had a multiple options of different kinds of sandwiches, and a build your own option. Also, the chips and drink options had awide array. I ordered the Cali club sandwich and it was amazing. For the price which was around $15, they definitely gave a lot of meat and condiments. Baras used to be a liquor store, but they eventually converted it to a sandwich deli which was a great idea. Everybody, I know who's been There says they love the food. The staff are nice and the deli is clean. I highly recommend this place If you like sandwiches and pasta. I will definitely be returning to Baras in the future.

Yelp
A San Leandro staple! They have quite the spread when it comes to sandwiches. From my many visits, it's always solid. There's also a great selection of drinks, chips, and deli sides to combo it up. I suggest calling in and paying them a visit in-store - get that full deli experience! Service is always great. Now go on, get that sammie, and enjoy!
