18 Stellar Eats in Saint-Henri

"BarBara has proven to be an enormous success in the space adjacent to Square Sir-George-Étienne-Cartier. Specializing in handmade pastas, natural wines, and an impressive selection of pastries — including a remarkable cacio e pepe croissant —this has become one of the “it” places to dine out in Saint-Henri. (Note: BarBara is temporarily closed due to water damage; latest reopening estimate was November at the latest.)" - Daniel Bromberg, Eater Staff

Fantastic restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming. It’s an excellent place to enjoy a good time with loved ones. They don’t take reservations. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Great vegetarian options. The pistachio tiramisu was heavenly. 10/10

Their focaccia (ricotta et miel) is delicious. Very hip place. Great for lunch and also dinner with an amazing selection of privately imported wine!

This place is 100% worthy of the hype. The service is as phenomenal as the food. I took my partner here for a birthday lunch and it was a perfect, cozy spot. The restaurant is packed but not oppressivly so: the layout is great and it's packed because people are enjoying the experience and lingering. Friend: This is a place where you want to linger. First up, we got the focaccia, the daily special (i think it was a potato/tomato/chive w/ melted parm) and the honey, ricotta. The special was light, fluffy and savory. Honestly one of the best focaccia in the city, second, of course, to the honey ricotta. I will be dreaming about this focaccia. It was salty and sweet. Heavier than the daily special (likely because of the ricotta). I will be going back again to get that focaccia. Next up, our lunch mains: I had the roasted mozzarella with almond pesto. It was light, citrus -y and delicious. It wasn't at all what I was expecting! The mild cheese was a great pairing for the zesty pesto and the arugula! My partner got the cacio e pepe: it was perfect. It was creamy and peppery and the pasta was the perfect texture. A delightful classic. Finally: dessert. The only thing we weren't a fan of was the pistachio tiramisu. This was absolutely an 'us' thing and nothing to do with the dessert itself. It's a mild, rich, almost cheesecake pistachio marscapone layered with a espresso cake. It was a nice texture and a great flavor (just wasn't my thing). If you like less sweet desserts and love espresso: This will be your heaven. All in all - a great experience and i look forward to coming back to try the coffee and the rest of the menu!

Such a cute place to get coffee with a friend and catch up. Great ambiance and good service. It gets very packed around 7-8pm and there is a big line - that’s when we felt pressured by staff to leave. Other than that, it’s a nice place.

One of my usual haunts, I take everyone I love there so we can share a great meal and leave satisfied! Yes the wait can be long for dinner time but I think it’s extremely worth it. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is amazing.

Overall: great food and wine, looooong wait. We went around 7:30 on a busy Friday night; we were told it was a 45 min wait for a table, and were seated in the waiting area. I think they thought we had left because we ended up waiting 1.5h, and several tables seated before us. When we were finally sat, service was better but took a while to be seen. Its a shame we had this experience because the wine and food were both really great. If you catch them outside of the rush, i definitely think its worth a try.

I recently visited Barbara Vin in Montreal with two friends for dinner and drinks, and overall, it was a great experience with a few minor downsides. Since they don’t take reservations, we had to wait in line, which was a bit long, but the host was really accommodating. About halfway through the wait, he brought us to a little corner spot to browse the drink menu and enjoy a drink while we waited, which was a nice touch. He also offered us seating on the terrace, which is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately, you can’t have alcohol out there due to permit restrictions. The restaurant itself is very cute and fun, with cool decor that adds to the ambiance. We shared burrata, focaccia, parmesan fries as appetizers, followed by two pasta dishes (cacio e pepe and campanelle), which was plenty for the three of us. Everything was delicious! I had an Amaro Limonata, which was amazing, and my friends enjoyed margaritas. The drinks were good and affordable, but they were on the smaller side. While the vibe was super cool, the service was a little slow, and it took a while for our food to arrive. Despite that, I’d definitely go back and would recommend this spot to others. It’s worth the wait!

Barbara is a staple restaurant in the sudouest of Montreal. They were missing alot of items when we got here at 9pm on a Friday which was sad cause I looooveee olives (and the fried ones are amazing) but the focaccia saved us. Also, the group all agreed the Caccio e Pepe was the best on the menu by far
