Welcome to Los Altos downtown, Barbayani! Since Greek Opa! has closed down, we've been waiting for Greek cuisine here in my Los Altos downtown!
Lovely outside parklet patio! Adorned by Greek traditional white & blue, transporting you to Greece!

Inside, light wooden (maple?) chairs around rectangular white clothed tables, light blue plate settings, modern silverware, wine flutes & water glasses ~ almost ready!

Barbayani Taverna is set to open! The owner is Turkish & he knows Greek food! That's because Dino T. has been running Mediterranean eateries in the SF Bay Area for awhile, the stage is set for Barbayani Taverna to be his fourth! Dino is the restauranteur behind Naschmarkt and Anatolian Kitchen in Palo Alto, and I'm a faithful patron of both!
Here in my downtown Los Altos, Barbayani Taverna is replacing BariBar Bistro Italian eatery (reviewed August 25, 2021), formerly Aldo of Los Altos (closed in early months of the pandemic lockdowns). Barbayani is neighboring Cetrella, The Post across the Main St, and Georgian Bevri (my ROTD+FTR from 5/25/22). I believe it's adding terrific authenticity to the mix!
Dino said that he's excited to bring homestyle cooking & offer authentic Greek flavors to local community. A barba is both your cook & your sever, like welcoming your guest into your home kitchen. In Greece, you don't see myriads of workers at a restaurant, it's usually just one person, Barbayani, or uncle John:)
