Here in NY for a wedding this weekend. Was looking around for a barber and stopped by three other places before Barber's Philosophy gave me a 30 min wait for a walk in. The whole staff was very kind and professional. I got my skin fade from Matt and he took really good care of me! Will definitely come back next time I'm in town.

I've been going to this barber shop for a few years now. I've tried to find something close to my house but nothing compares. The whole team is great, I prefer Alex who is a really cool guy who knows my style and my mood. Tiziana, Christina, Fred, Mattheus, Denis are all wonderful. I feel like it's a clean place, with good music. I really like it. The drinks are really good too.

An elevated barbershop that does quality and consistent cuts. Tatsiana is great and delivers every time (even with coarse Asian hair, she does a great job every time). Her team and the rest of the staff is welcoming and it's always a good vibe at the shop.

Very warm but professional environment. I went for a haircut once, which was my first time getting a haircut at a barbershop in general, and I had an overall very positive experience. The environment was great and so were the prices. If it's time for a haircut, you should definitely check this place out. Great quality guaranteed :)

As a female with short hair, I hate the prices at salons geared towards women with more high-maintenance hair than mine. Started coming here a couple of years ago and Tatsiana always gives me a great haircut and the price can't be beat.

What a wonderful first time experience with the team at Barber's Philosophy! Tatsiana and Kristina took care of both me and my son with great cuts that kicked us off into a great weekend. Their shop is very clean, inviting, and well kept. Booking an appointment is also very easy through their website or via the Booksy app. Definitely going to be returning here and adding to our list of favorite small businesses in our Brooklyn neighborhood, and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful haircare experience!

As an avid traveler and connoisseur of the barbershop experience it's hard to filter what shop to try in whatever city you are in. GO HERE!! I booked an appointment which was super easy via their website and you can also choose your barber. Luckily for me, I booked a 10:15 am for an 11am appt and was able to come in with ease. I chose Alex. Alex had a really great attention to detail while working. He delivered exactly what I wanted after showing a picture for reference. One can always tell when they are in good hands after sitting down and they begin the prepping process. It gets better. I then went to Matt for a close shave and he showed ever more care and really went above and beyond to make sure everything was smooth and even all around constantly coming back to fine tune. The shop was super nice and clean with a great aesthetic. So no worries on that end. I would have went for a wash and shampoo if I had time but nevertheless, great experience!

Just recently moved out here to Brooklyn and was looking to get my hair trimmed but also have my sides and back faded. I found Barber's philosophy on yelp and google, both had great reviews especially, Tatsiana. I liked how quick and efficient she was. I showed her the style I was going for and she was able to make it happen, but in a way that fit my head shape. She gave great recommendations and most importantly, she is someone who is good with both clippers AND scissors. I've been getting compliments on my haircut ever since! I will definitely be back!

To keep it brief, it's been a while since I have gotten a haircut. I typically just buzz my sides and keep the top longer. After reading the reviews here, I figured I would give them a shot as overall the reviews are positive. I scheduled online, chose Alex, and got a really quick appointment the next day which I liked! When I showed up they did the old switcherooo just like other reviews mentioned. Got a haircut from Denis. He was overall kind and helpful. Asked a lot of questions before cutting which I appreciated -- assumptions lead to unhappiness. Overall, haircut is good but unfortunately it's a bit uneven. The middle left side is substantially shorter than the middle right. Unsure how all barbers are here, but this was my exp. Going to try out a new place next time around.

It's surprisingly difficult to find a "beard barber," something I would not have imagined living in Brooklyn, NY. All across YouTube, there are bearded men trimming and shaping long beards. But on the internet and across Yelp, I was not able to find any photos of a bearded man cutting another bearded man, or any overwhelming evidence that those places exist. So looking at yelp, I did find a couple positive beard reviews and decided to give Barber's Philosophy a chance. Alex was my assigned barber. I showed him a couple photos of beards shapes that interested me (I had a 4+ month, no trim, pandemic beard going) and away he went. The result was pretty good. A little more shaped/trimmed than I preferred ideally, but the beard grows fast, so no worries. I gave him my feedback, which he seemed to acknowledge as helpful. He, and Tatiana were very friendly. The beard trim is VERY affordable, and comes with the pampering of the hot towel, etc, and a whiskey shot at the end! I'm going to go back for my next one to see how close we can get to my perfect beard. Definitely worth a shot.

Amazing haircut with Mark, recommend to everyone. Mark clrarly followed my instructions and made saw some clean Viking style haircut. Beard trim was great too, cut beard clean on the sides and at the end applied lotion for moisturizing. Fun bonus - they poured a shot of awesome whiskey for me :)

The staff here is very nice, but I received a bad haircut today from Freddie. The owner who rang me up at the register asked how the haircut was, and I mentioned I wasn't happy. She said she'd be happy to fix it, but the barber cut my hair way too high in the back (not to mention took off to much hair so there's a bald spot), so there wasn't anything they could do. I asked for natural and received a crazy high fade that looks horrible in the back. I should really have asked for a refund, but didn't feel comfortable doing so right in front of the barber who cut my hair. He even got rid of my sideburns without asking me.... Update: I called and was asked to come by the shop. Owner gave me a refund and tried to clean up the mess in the back a little. I will come back again, but will NEVER make an appointment with Freddie, as he doesn't know how to listen or cut hair.

Perfect! I had been cutting my own hair since the pandemic began. Tatsiana not only fixed the mess I made, but significantly improved on any haircut I had gotten before Covid. This is a terrific place with very good people. Highly recommended!

Nice place with friendly staff, mostly clean depending on who you get (last cut I got I saw him wipe the comb on his pant leg between clients, which is not the same as using barbicide, but that's not everyone) and they give you a decent hair cut. I always have a difficult time with barber's understanding (or maybe listening) how I want my beard cut, and this place was no exception. They cut it more how they think you want it and didn't listen when I say I'm trying to grow it out a specific way and to keep it long ALL over and then shave down the sides so now I have a long face and goatee, not the long beard I'm trying to grow (months of growth wasted). At least it usually looks ok till I wash my hair and just gets worse from there as my hair grows. I'm happy they listen enough to keep the part in the hair on top of my head. I like the convenience of the online booking, but the thing I dislike is that sometimes when you book with a specific person, they will have you go with someone else when you get there (not who you booked with, even though they are there). I feel like they were trying to 'sell' me on someone else or who I booked with has given up on trying to understand how to cut hair for long term growth, even though I spend several minutes going over it every time. Either way, I'm not a fan of this bait and switch behavior as I'm trying to get someone to understand the way I want my hair and find this makes it hard to build that repertoire of what was good and what turned out bad from the last cuts, having to explain it over again knowing they are going to wrong the first time (maybe one day I will find that someone who understands it). This inconsistency just makes me feel they don't give a crap about you as a long term customer and that after over a year of coming here, I just need to give up on this place and continue to explore more options in the neighborhood. If you don't have a long beard and just have some basic hair needs or kinda just don't care, then this place is probably awesome. However they don't really understand long beards, growth and long term goals and should stop pretending they do. I've seen a great fade come out of there, but good luck if you get that barber even if you booked them specifically.

I really can't say enough great things about this barber shop. From the moment you step into this posh, upscale space you are met with a sophistication you'd expect from a barber charging $50-$60 per cut, when in actuality, Barber's Philosophy is half the price. I moved to Brooklyn a month ago and was in desperate need of a haircut and I found this place on Yelp, so I thought I'd give it a try. I met with Tatsiana for my first cut and she did a fantastic job - even offered me a drink when I arrived and left! The haircut I received looked better than any haircut I got in DC and was literally half of the price. Today I went back and booked an appointment with Tatsiana, which I recommend doing, and everything was yet again flawless. I have definitely found MY barber in BK and I suggest you try them out, too!

Love Barber's Philosophy! Went right when they opened for the first time and new I found my barber in Brooklyn. I've been going to Alex and he's been great. Went with the classic short on the sides long ish on top look and he's two for two with great cuts. Highly recommend! The whole shop is on top of health and cleanliness standards, gloves, masks, cleaning, the whole shebang. If anyone is looking for Barber in Downtown Brooklyn I definitely recommend giving this place a shot.

Online booking was so easy! Did mine through Instagram. I'm new to the neighborhood, and I'm very pleased to find a great location nearby-super clean. Tatsiana and her team are welcoming and professional. She asked a lot of questions to ensure my experience and cut were what I wanted and what worked with my hair pattern and head-shape. They're very organized and prominently display their compliance and certification for COVID-19 procedures. Haircut looks fantastic, SO is very pleased with how it looks. Will be back in the future!

Overall, my husband and I had a great experience here. We walked in on a Sunday after church with little wait. Tim took his time and did a really good job on my husband's haircut/beard trim. It was cold outside, so I waited in the front with a complimentary wine cooler and my book.

Ive been getting my haircut by Tatsiana for 5 years now and it's always an amazing job each time. I've been to quite a few barbers and hair salons in NY and nowhere compares to Tatsiana in terms of price and quality. Not to mention they offer free beer and liquor while you get your haircut! I love coming here.

I am in town from Chicago and after a diff Brooklyn Barbershop (that was vastly more expensive) couldn't fit me in for hours I came here. They gave me 2 shots of whiskey and literally the best fade I've ever gotten; and I have extremely hard to work with curly hair. Also perfect beard trim and advice on beard/moustache upkeep. I have a somewhat long beard and it's always scary letting a new barber trim it. Tatiana crushed it. If I lived here this would be my spo for sure. Good price too. Unbeatable value.

Needed to get a quick haircut before a date. Went in without an appointment, was greeted with complimentary whiskey (which is cool). Took a seat, read some papers. Then Alex took care of me, got rid of my long hairdo and turned it into a handsome short cut. They also shave your neck and do sorta a massage with a hot towel (without happy ending though). Totally, I spent there about an hour.

It's such a pleasure going there. The price, the customer service, the staff, and the salon itself. Alex has been my stylist from the time I started. He has been "Top Gun" since the first minute. Tom Cruise look out there's a new Pilot in town .

Two haircuts here already and I love Tatsiana! She listens, shows me progress/clarification, and she understands what my hair can and cannot do. Totally recommend. For $29, she'll give you a way better deal than these other places nearby that want $50 for half the quality she provides. I haven't tried the other barbers here but I'm sure if Tatsiana approved of them, they must be good as well.

After moving to downtown Brooklyn I tried a few local barbers trying to find my new regular. I visited Barber's Philosophy this week and had my hair cut by Tatsiana. I gave my normal instructions - she then asked a few clarifying questions and even gave some suggestions. The cut came out great and I am looking forward to visiting again in a few weeks!

Horrible haircut. Walked in and got young man furthest in the back. Asked for trim and specific instructions on haircut. Did not get what I asked for at all. Was a bad experience and hair looks horrible s highly recommend avoiding this place unless you have an appointment with someone you specifically like. Will not be going back

As a lifelong Brooklynite who has often struggled to find quality barbers, I can safely say that this is one of the best barber shops I have been to. The professionalism is top notch. The barbers communicate and take suggestions, if you have any--though they need little guidance and are highly skilled, taking pride in their work. I've never felt rushed at Barber's Philosophy. Every cut ends with a hot towel and light massage. Beer and water is available when you wait. The most surprising part is the price.. Barber's Philosophy charges about 25% of what their quality cuts go for on the NYC market. Can't say enough good things about them!

I've been a loyal client of Tatiana's for the last 8 years while she worked at another shop. This is her new solo venture. Needless to say I followed her to her new shop and that says it all. Her haircuts are meticulous and I never have to worry about what I'm gonna get, it's just as good every time. Thank you Tatiana!

I was in town for business (Staying at the Even, which is a great hotel and a block from this place), hadn't had a haircut in a bit so stopped by. Even though I was early, he opened up and got me going - asked me how I liked things done and my preferences, and then got to work. Really did a great job, paid lots of attention to details I'm sure I would have missed, and gave me one of the best haircuts I've had in years. Great vibe for the place, upbeat and hip, everyone was happy - even the customers! :) Will definitely come here when I'm in town, and a great place if you're local - lucky to have it!

I don't normally leave bad reviews, and I wanted to like this shop, considering it is just 2 blocks from where I live, as it would have been super convenient for me whenever in bind on time. However, it was one of the worst haircuts that I have ever received in my life. What I requested was a skin fade, plain and simple. Not to mention, my previous haircut was only 7 days prior, as you can still see the outline of where the fade had started, but the ball had still managed to be dropped. Because the owner, who I was assuming, knew that I needed a skin fade done, she shouldn't have sent me to her "greenest" barber. Friendly guy, but within the first 30 seconds, I sensed that he had no idea as to what he was doing. As a business, it is your one and only shot to please a first-time customer, hence I will never be returning. That is time and money that I will not be getting back. One star for the nice shop, and friendliness of the barber.

This shop is GREAT! Tatsiana has been my Barber for many years; my beard always looks perfect after a visit, and I leave relaxed and refreshed every time. For anyone with facial hair, I also highly recommend the straight razor shave. You'll leave feeling cleaner, sharper and more relaxed after a shave and a haircut at this place!

Best haircut in BK! Tatiana's been cutting my hair for years, I wouldnt go anywhere else. In fact, I travel from Manhattan nowadays. Her and Alex are wonderful and make the experience very enjoyable. Im so glad they re-opened! They wore gloves and masks the whole time and even prepared the shop with additional safety measures due to the current pandemic, so don't be afraid to make an appointment. You won't regret it!

This place is the best. I've been a loyal customer at their other location near dumbo for years so when I heard that they moved to this neighborhood had to go. The haircuts are good and inexpensive. The owners are kind and offer drinks while you wait.

I've lived in this neighborhood for the last six years and been to all of the barbershops. The one in City Point. A few in Fort Greene, Park Slope, etc. I even made a few trips into Manhattan. But I keep coming back here - the people are lovely, the prices are great, easy to book, fast, and a great cut. Go here!

Tatiana is such a pleasure of a human and an absolutely amazing hairdresser. I came in and didn't have to wait. I was offered a drink and a cold bottle of water. She did my cut in 15 minutes knowing I was in a bit of a rush (and still did an amazing job). She made me feel so welcome. This will be my exclusive barbershop now. I love it here! Such a great vibe and decor, too. 10/10 would recommend anyone to try a cut with Tatiana!
