The Newest Restaurants In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This isn’t the first Barcade in the city, but it’s the first one in Center City. Like other locations, there are vintage video games, beer lists galore, and bar food classics like burgers, wings, and loaded tater tots. " - Candis Mclean, Alison Kessler

Barcade was fantastic for my friend's bachelor party. We had unlimited wings, sliders, fries, with our package, along with 2 drink tickets and game tokens. It was great! The staff were friendly, accommodating, and generous as they surprised our party with extra hospitality. The cocktails were fantastic, and the drink selections were great! It was clean, and well equipped. There are so many fun retro games that we grew up playing. Barcade is a great stop if you have time to kill or want a fun weekend night!

If you have some cash in your pocket and some time to kill, this is the place to go. Good beer selection on tap and plenty of games for everyone. The games are super old school so if that’s not your thing, maybe pass, but if at least give it a try. They do have some newer games too. I didn’t have the food but I think they have a pretty good wing night.

A fun bar in Center City Philadelphia! Lots of arcade games with a wide variety, ranging in style as well as games for 1-4 people. Bring cash to get coins for the games, the arcade games are a great price. The drink selection is fantastic and the bartenders are super nice and helpful.

Stopped in for a few drinks while visiting Philly. Bartenders were all super quick and nice, the problem is I got so drunk I don’t remember what I ate or had to drink, but that means it was a successful night!

My brother and I thought this would be a nice place to spend a Saturday evening, we arrived during prime time around 10:30. We were met with a security guard who took my brother’s(21) ID then mine(22), proceeding with scanning my ID it goes through as good. We are then told we aren’t welcomed and he won’t take our IDs so you’re just rejecting businesses!

Such a fun night out with friends! It's nice because there's a good variety of single player games and multi-player games so you don't have to stick with a group the ENTIRE time. The food was surprisingly so good. Burger (medium) was cooked perfectly. The fries and chicken tenders tasted like they were freshly made. We even had to make another order of tenders. The wings were good but on the drier end compared to the tenders.

Google
Security guard took my ID and scanned it then wouldn't let me in, I asked why, then he said I was too drunk. I asked what he meant and to see his supervisor then he shoved me out before anything's. It looked like a nice place but security definitely needs a new face.

Google
Had a blast at Barcade. It's a great spot for a fun date. While crowded at time, there are still open games to play. The staff did a good job of getting our order despite the crowd. I really loved a game that seems like ddr meets just just dance. The colors and sounds are exciting. They had a great collection of games.

Yelp
When it comes to enjoying good beers and pinball in the same place, the Fishtown Barcade has been my go-to. So when I heard that they were opening a 2nd Center City location that doubled the amount of both, I was all in for checking it out. And it's just as good as the Fishtown spot, if not better. When I first entered what I thought was the place, I was instantly confused by how fancy it looked and how filled of driving simulators it was. But as soon as I realized it was the F1 Racing Arcade two doors down, I found a two-story heaven filled to the brim with classic arcade games, fighting games, shooters, and so many glorious pinball alerts! When I'm not doing good in Hook or Iron Maiden pinball, I'm playing friends in Pac-Man Fever (https://youtu.be/ZrwnAdqBCg0?si=OjYWZBLtWRKq0f7Z) or enjoying my time getting schooled in classic games like Tapper and Rampage. I'll probably never get there, but if you're good enough, your high score will reach immortality when its shown on their website. The Fishtown Barcade is an excellent beer haven in its own right. But the Center City one goes the extra mile by featuring double the beers on tap, and taking part in things like Philly Beer Week and a Three Floyds Tap Takeover this Thursday (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16xzozUCf2/). But if you're not a beer drinker, they also have plenty of cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic offerings to choose from. The food menu is packed with plenty of shareables that work for an arcade environment. But they also have a decent selection of burgers and salads, and a deep-fried Oreo brownie that I might one day try for the culture. All of the above makes Barcade perfect for a date night, a gathering with friends, or when you just need to kill some time by grabbing a beer and trying to beat your last score!

Yelp
This place is pretty gosh darn cool. 14 pinball machines that are well maintained, tons of arcade games, and full food service. Now, im gonna be real. My experience on this particular night wasn't perfect. I ordered the falafel plate, and it took an hour to come out. But the staff were apologetic, and they offered me a free drink to ply me. And the drink I had, the extra man, was fantastic. The chocolate bitters were absolutely delicious, and now I need to go buy some. And when the falafel and fries came out, they were piping hot and perfectly prepared. I'll be back, and I'm sure my next review will be 5 stars.

Yelp
4.5* Just got takeout--burger with side salad. The burger was tasty but they sent neither napkins nor utensils, so minus a half star for that. Otherwise enjoyed it

Yelp
Love this place! Drinks are really good and old school games really bring me back! Don't be fooled by the shiny and new F1 Arcade next door, this place is WAY better! Games upstairs and downstairs will have you busy all night long! Staff is very friendly and the whole vibe was chill and fun. We stayed for about and hour but it wasn't long enough: I would suggest giving yourself at least 2 hours there. Shoutout to the margaritas there!

Yelp
I had lunch at Barcade bar and I'm glad I stumbled across this gem when I did! I came during a quiet afternoon but still could feel what people love about this place! They have an incredible $15 lunch deal featuring Sandwhich, fries and a beer but I opted for the Barcade HotDog! It was so good! The picture looks great but it tasted even better! Bartender Becca was great! 5/5! She had great recommendations on beer and was very kind & attentive! I didn't stay to play any games but I did see a few inside having a blast! I love all the writing on the walls too! Check this place out!

Yelp
Went to the barcade at 10:00 pm on 3/13. It was super fun. $10 went a long way. They have some pretty cool games from Japan which lasted a long time. We didn't order any drinks, but if you are looking for a barcade with pretty new and old classics, this is the place! The game halfway up the stairs was pretty fun. Definitely a fun game to play while buzzed.

Yelp
I would have said this is a pretty cool place, until I got my bar bill. I ordered one gin and tonic. The bartender (female around 10pm on 9/9) asked if I wanted a specific gin I said no. Yes I could have said house or well, but who would think a small plastic cup would be a $37 gin and tonic. That is definitely NOT customary anywhere else I've ordered drinks, so either she's new and doesn't know what she's doing, she's malicious, or this is a standard practice here and people should be aware.

Yelp
A friend wanted to stop in Barcade's Center City location while we were wandering around town. We sat at the bar (stools, no seat backs, uuuugh) and enjoyed some beers. I ordered the Dock Street local sour on draft, and it was quite good and refreshing. The interior space spans two floors and they have a variety of games. They have a food menu too but I had already eaten. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices reasonable.

Yelp
We came here after a City Winery concert looking for a way to blow some time during our remaining child-free hours. I can report that we did have fun, but it wasn't enough to really extend the pleasantry of the night. I only had a $5 bill and that got us 2 games and 20 minutes of playing time - if even that. It was still fun, don't get me wrong, we played Tetris. I just know for the next time to come with more than we did. I liked that there was no obligation to buy food or drink, you could go and just play games if you wanted to. The shooter game upstairs was really fun, I just wish we had more tokens. Apparently the bathrooms were gross according to my hubby, but somehow that doesn't surprise me.

Yelp
As a friend of mine put it, this place is a bit smaller than it appears. I get that it is super popular right now as it recently open, however, the lines to get a drink can get a bit ridiculous. I am not sure if that is a function of the crowds, the layout, or both. Since it took about 20-25 minutes to get our first round, we declined a second round. However, you probably aren't coming to Barcade for their drinks alone, as their bread and butter are video games. They do manage to squeeze a lot of them in and waits on even the most popular ones did not seem to be too long. They have the classics from the 80s (Q-Bert) and 90s/00s (Street Fighter, Daytona Racing) as well as newer ones (a Japanese game where you just slap the big button, sorry I don't remember the name). This location also has a few more pinball machines than the Fishtown one. You'll need tokens, which are a quarter each. The token machine line can get a bit long, but nothing like the drink line. And if a machine gives you problems, staff are available. I will probably wait for the popularity to die down a bit before going back, but overall I'm glad to see another Barcade location!

Yelp
Staff is nice and can have a lot to deal with. Butterfly pea tea ginger beer mocktail special , not sure if the bartender I had made that up off the cuff or if it is a backup offering as I didn't see mocktails listed. I do like drinks but get overwhelmed with so much quantity and so many options. So water, juice, and mocktails are the new "it" for me for now but something different could pull me in another direction any which way. A friend here ordered a negroni, and they make it strong here, but it is a good choice to get here. The only thing "missing" is an orange peel! I think there are more games here than the other Barcade but not sure. Definitely denser here. Two floors here- if a friend didn't say so I would've thought there was a stairs for staff only. It gets typically crowded here on a Saturday night. 3 token machines at least. Can you find them all? Lol.

Yelp
Came in last Saturday to celebrate a girlfriend's 30th birthday with a group of friends. Most of the group had been to the Fishtown location, so we were trying out this location for the first time. From the second we came in and sat down - at a fairly empty bar (5-6 open seats) - the bartender that waited on us was very rude and standoffish. Throughout the time we were there, almost everyone in our group ended up encountering this particular bartender, and each person seemed to have the same experience. understand that everybody has a bad day from time to time, but it was really a disappointing experience for all of us, including my friend on her birthday. At one point, my husband had asked for tokens and she gave us a hard time and told us to use the machines. Unfortunately, she had our card to keep our tab open, so that made it difficult to use the ATM. I was able to find a few buck in my purse, but the token machine wouldn't take. Regretfully, we headed back to the bar and asked a different bartender for coins. She happily got them for us, no problem. The food was really good. We ordered a burger and the chicken bacon ranch nachos - which were sold out - so we opted for the tots instead. Everything was great and came out quickly. The rest of the staff, including the two other bartenders, were very friendly.

Yelp
Barcade is a bar with lots of old school video games and pinball machines. Mario brothers, Ms. Pac Man, pirates of the Caribbean pinball, and pac man 4 players are just some of the games they have to offer. You can get Barcade coins to use in the machines, 4 for a $1 and most games are $.50 or $.75. There is a full bar with mixed drinks, beer on tap and some wine (no Chardonnay that night). It wasn't crowded on a Wed night but there were groups of friends and people throughout. There are two floors and they have high ceilings. The building is really nice. It's definitely an upscale vibe compared to the Fishtown Barcade which is more a dive bar vibe. Will be back again!

Yelp
Came into barcade on a very early Saturday night and it was still super crowded at 7:00 p.m.. Hanging out at 7:00 p.m Middle-Aged hours when you finally got babysitting, but you're too tired to hang out until 2:00 a.m. like you did in your 20s, so I was quite surprised there were so many people here so early lol The bar was super crowded but it was actually not that hard to get drinks but playing any video games was virtually impossible as virtually every video game was taken up by groups of people. So he basically got to watch people play video games and enjoy some beer for a good 30 minutes before heading elsewhere. But I can definitely see how this would make a really cool afterwork hang out.

Yelp
Barcade is such a fun place to visit with reasonably priced drinks, amazing staff (Danielle is literally the best), and such fun games. If you are looking for a fun place to hang out that has seating and a full service bar with amazing entertainment (all the retro arcade games), then look no farther. Skip the overly crowded Gayborhood bars and skip the overly crowded hetero bars for this gem of a place.

Yelp
Greatly enjoyed the work outing my colleagues and I had at the new Barcade in Midtown, Center City. Though it did get more crowded as the weeknight progressed, because we started ~3:30PM, for a while we had it almost to ourselves, which was terrific. Staff was friendly and helpful, games were fun, and both drink and food was tasty (and piping hot, as applicable, when brought out from the kitchen)! (Particularly enjoyed the ginger-based mocktail on menu.) We roamed the two floors and played 1-player, 2-player, and some 4-player games. Competition was fierce and friendly and a good time was had by all!

Yelp
Throwback arcade games with a bar in Center City. Decent happy hour, serves food. Door guys was professional. Two floors, no elevators. Most games were about 50 cents, some 25 cents. Lots of games! A side rooms tucked away also with games. A few pinball tables, frogger, Tetris, racing. Didn't see Ms Pac-Man, Digdug, Qbert, Mario Brothers or Donkey Kong. A few vegetarian/vegan options. I was the only one who ate in my friend group. Had a veggie burger. Liked my tots, nice crisp, not oily. Burger was dry, not enough sauce, garlic flavor was overpowering. Wouldn't order it again. Good AC One male, one female bathroom upstairs. One male, one female bathroom downstairs. 2 bartenders, one very attentive, other not so much. Ordered food and no alcohol, had to ask for water, wasn't easy to get his attention, even though it wasn't busy.

Yelp
Good drinks, good vibes, loved the red blue green button game, will be going back just for that. Take cash!! But if you forget it's only $2 atm fee which is much better than casino

Yelp
Went to stop in when they opened and was happy to see a lot more space and machines than the fishtown location. There are 2 floors here and tons of room, so not as packed in. Lots of tables and benches to sit down on to eat a snack and drink. Good selection of games from different eras, and some racing / shooting simulator as well. Prices on drinks were a bit high, and the food is also a bit pricy for typical pub quality stuff. But you can just go for the arcades and have a good time. Thanks

Yelp
We had a blast celebrating my 60th birthday at Barcade! So fun reminiscing over so many games! I enjoyed playing so many. Plenty of food choices if you decide you are hungry, as well. I had the chopped cheese fries and they were very tasty - chopped cheese sandwiches are my new jam, so I tried the fries and was glad I did. I was surprised the bartender did not know what was in a drink I wanted (Snapperheads) - she even said she never puts it in the Sambuca Milkshake like the menu said. I chose to get it anyway after a long wait and left wondering if that missing ingredient was the reason I didn't really enjoy it. The milkshake word was very misleading, as well. For the prices of drinks today, one really should be made the way they are described on the menu. She actually told me to look it up on Google when I asked her about the ingredient! lol Other than that, it was a fun night. But be warned, the games are set up to start at the fastest level of speed not the true first level of speed. I still got the high score on Ms. PacMan so all is good! lol Also, the tables are first come first served so you may have to stand until one opens up. Check them out!

Yelp
Overall a fun place! Came here on a Friday night at around 8:00 and it was super crowded; we had to wait for people to leave before we were able to go inside. The games were fun but I noticed some of them were out of order. I wish the groove coaster game had their multiplayer options available bc that would make it more fun. Drinks were okay. Would definitely try to go back when it's less crowded!

Yelp
if i could give half stars, this rating would be 3.5 stars. i visited when it first opened and it was crowded but still fun! in this recent visit i went with a group on a sunday and, as expected, no one was there but that made playing games so much easier!! this location is more spacey than the fishtown location. i did not get any food, but they have recently added truly wild berry seltzer to their menu!!! (WITH ICE!!!) overall, a fun place to go every once in awhile with friends!

Yelp
Barcade is one of many in the Philadelphia area, but this one is convenient enough for Center City tourists who may not know what is out on the outskirts of the city. Drinks are good, and on a weekend night it is often very busy. This is understandable. Take your time and enjoy the scenery as a bartender gets your drink. The games were varied and fun! Some are a callback to my time as a teenager, when arcades were still prevalent in malls and not just overpriced board games. They have a Time Crisis game, though not one with the click back function on the lightgun. Rather, they used the standard lightgun that was first introduced to me with the Area 51 arcade shooter game. Other familiar games were really enjoyable! This bar uses a token system, where you have to go to one of the dispensing machines near the bathroom or entrance. Be prepared to have pockets so you can hold all of those tokens! Overall, I enjoyed the two floors of arcade game-ry. And there are little pockets of bar to hide and have a good conversation. Bathrooms were adequate, and I didn't have a look at the menu. Overall, its a good place to spend 20 minutes, or 2 hours! No rating on sustainable businesses practices as none were really noticed or advertised. Though, sourcing green energy to power all those games might be prohibitively expensive!

Jake T.

Yelp
Great place, but, how are you going to call yourself an arcade without any skee-ball machines??? Seriously, what a joke. There are multiple areas where those machines could fit, and multiple other machines that are purely just ass that deserve to be replace by skee-ball machines. Fix it. NOW.

Mitchell G.

Yelp
A lot of great games available and all in good condition for decent prices. We went on a Thursday night and there only seemed to be one bartender. Another person would come and go, but it was mainly just one bartender which felt understaffed for the amount of customers and led to some waiting. The food was good and it came out quick. Great selection of drafts. Overall, it was a fun time and we will probably go back.

Yelp
my all time favorite bar + arcade. the setup is so nice -- i LOVE the second floor how there's a little rhythm games corner. they have chunithm right next to the window there overlooking the street and it is my favorite little spot ever. they also have bishi bashi (3-player japanese konami game) and it is SUPER fun to play with friends. workers are always nice and the drinks are great!!! i will always be coming back here ^_^
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
This is just a fantastic place to come and waste the afternoon. I always try and hit it up when I'm in the area. The tap list is fantastic and the games are always rotating in and out. I don't usually come for food so I can't speak on that, but there are a bunch of places on the same street you can eat and excellent breweries as well. This place is a must visit.

James K.

Yelp
Great selection of games and pinballs spread over two floors, which helps make the space feel nice and roomy. Food wise I got the wings with Carolina Gold BBQ sauce and they were pretty much perfect and everybody there was super friendly. Highly highly recommended and only a few minutes away from the station!

Yelp
Please get ski ball and dance dance revolution! Thank you so excited for you to be in the cc area

Yelp
Went here last night- soooo much fun!! Amazing vintage arcade games and tons of old pinballs. I had wings and brownies - super delicious. The bartenders and door folks were all really nice. I will totally go back and recommend it for sure!! Great addition to the neighborhood.
