I’m normally a city girl at heart and I never really eat anywhere in Metairie. However, my boyfriend decided to take me here for dinner Sunday and when I tell yall I’m in LOVE with this place. The aesthetics, the vibes, and the service were all top notch. You get to pick your own table/section to sit in and they have a second floor balcony option too. In terms of the menu I love that it was small and simple. We got the spicy crispy tuna rice, tempura green beans, Barcar burger, half a dozen of oysters (three of the mon Louis & admiral), and the Timesaver. The spicy crispy tuna rice was A M A Z I N G. It tasted comparable if not better than sushi restaurants. The yuzu sauce is very soft and light but packs a punch. The crisp of the rice was just the perfect amount of crunchy that pairs well with the wetness of the tuna. The tempura green beans were great on their own but the sauce it came with was just delectable! I loved the oysters so much that I was able to eat it on my own without any sauce. The fact that barcar lists where each of the oyster is sourced & their flavor profile made me truly appreciate this place. I luckily went on a Sunday when oysters were only two dollars.

There were 4 of us and we decided to share a bunch of dishes. Everything was delicious. We had the crispy rice, spicy tuna, the biscuits, tempura green beans, truffle fries, steak night special and pasta a la vodka. We really liked it all, but the surprise (in a good way) of the night was the tempura green beans. They were outstanding. The $24.99 steak dinner tasted like a $50+ steak dinner. What amazing flavor in the steak.

A must-go, any time of day! The drinks, staff and food have all been excellent so far with fair pricing. I have come several different times and enjoyed everything I have eaten and drank! The tuna crispy rice was excellent and very filling. The tempura green beans are plenty to share. The happy hour and weekday deals like steak Wednesday and $5 martini Fridays will keep me coming back. My favorite part is the balcony where you can people watch, watch TV or train watch! The staff is also extremely friendly and were very accommodating. I am looking forward to trying their lunch menu, steak night and their soon-to-be late night menu. It is amazing to see the transformation from a previously disappointing place to a lively and delicious bar and restaurant.

Friendly, decorous, amazing service and heady music flowing at Barcar. Loved the Asian shrimp salad (reminded me of a really good Burmese tea leaf salad, would order again and again) and tempura fried green beans. I’d never been to this part of town but plan to return, my kind of place!

We almost let a couple bad reviews steer us wrong, glad we didn’t. Maybe there were some growing pains when they first opened but experience was excellent for us. Great vibes, service, and food. If you don’t enjoy this place maybe check yourself. Chicken sandwich and waffle fries was well prepared (not dry or greasy, good flavor, etc.) and a frosted glass with your canned beverage was an appreciated touch.

Amazing place. Payton and Kat are the best bartenders I’ve ever had. Talk about a good time I didn’t want to leave. Payton is the reason this bar is popping I’d buy a $20 water from that guy. Never a dull moment here and I can’t wait to come back next wknd.

Honestly the dinner started out good. We ordered drinks and they came out in a decent time. The food was another story. We ordered our food and a table was sat next to us and they managed to get their drinks and food fairly quickly and they realized we never got our food and the waitress realized as she saw and never said a word to us. Twenty more minutes passed and our food came out, no acknowledgement or apology that we were forgotten about. After we finished we hadn’t seen our original waitress since our drinks and went to the bar to try to pay for our food and was told there wasn’t another waitress and we need to go sit back down and she’ll find a check for us, so our original waitress just up and left and not a word was said to us. For the amount of money the dinner costed, the service should’ve been way better. For this reason we’ll never return as there’s better places out there with better food and service.

Best place, Emma grace, peyton, and Dustin. These servers made my day, so respectful and attentive. The food is insane.

This place is so cute and great for lunch! We sat on the rooftop patio which was great. They had a little bar up there and some tvs. We got the chicken Caesar wrap and the burger! Both were great!! If you love lemon, you'll love the Caesar wrap!! The burger was super juicy and cooked perfectly. The fries were also really good and well seasoned. The service was also great. The food came out super quick. We will be back!

Location- in case you don't k is there is an upstairs area with a balcony with a bar that you sit and enjoy! Food was good! We went on a Saturday evening at dusk. Place was packed. Service was slow for us, so trying not to let that impress my rating. However, I think overall it is a solid place!

I think Barcar is a cute spot! I've experienced a Friday afternoon happy hour in the downstairs dining area as well as the inside bar for some late night drinks, and both were a nice time. My happy hour server was sweet and very attentive given how busy she was. You can't beat the $5 Friday martinis, and my chicken Cesar wrap was good! (Just annoying that it's a $1.50 upcharge for the wrap as opposed to the salad, lol.) The bartender was super chill and helpful with explaining drinks. The upstairs area is large and great for hanging out on a cool day or evening, so I won't be getting much use out of that space until probably October, lol. Parking can be tricky as there's only the parking lot and spite along the railroad; you may have to circle a time or two. But, all in all, a cute Old Metairie Rd spot!

Delicious Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap! Possibly the best in Nola! Recommended with an ice cold Pacifico

I came here after a bridal shower with a large group. We were told we could just go up on the rooftop and seat ourselves. We got a nice table upstairs. Service was great, everyone was friendly! The spicy margarita was delicious. I got the Caesar wrap with fried chicken and it was so good and light. I definitely will be back!

I stopped by Barcar for the first time recently, and while it has a cute vibe and the staff were super friendly, the experience overall was not great. The service was extremely slow, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. I ordered the Mexican Pistol, which was refreshing, and for food, I had the chicken sandwich with waffle fries. As appetizers, we shared the spinach dip and the parmesan and miso butter biscuits. Honestly, the biscuits were the standout--easily the best part of the meal. I'm hoping Barcar can speed things up a bit because I'd love to go back and explore the menu.

The food menu is lacking and the service was not the best. The happy hour martinis are the highlight. Come full and come here to grab a few drink deals.

Wow it's loud for no reason. Music is nice but people feel they have to scream. Bad: The tuna sticky rice is just plain bad. The ponzu doesn't soak up and the sticky rice is too much and flavorless. They need to rework that whole thing. The oysters were not what was on menu but were fantastic. Fried with ranch amongst other things. Delicious and fried perfectly. The lobster roll was one of the better ones I've had for a while but could have used some melted butter on the side.

I go once or twice a month with my girlfriends and have always had great experiences. The tuna crispy rice and the chicken caesar wrap are the best! the service is always good, and the vibe is always top tier. I also drooled looking at the burger my friends got!

went twice in the past week actually because was so happy with our first visit. Atmosphere is great, it's a really fun bar vibe but still with sit down tables and full service from the waiters. Drinks are so good. All the food was delicious but my absolute favorite was the crispy rice and tuna. Came back again on Wednesday for steak night which was delicious and such a good deal. Overall, love this place and so happy it's here!

Drinks, superb, food excellent! Atmosphere, a little noisy. Overall a good experience. My only complaints are that it's loud, but they can't really help that and they brought the salad with the entrée. It was steak night and for $20 you really can't beat it!

Had high hopes for this place after seeing the pictures of their chicken Caesar wrap on instagram (go look; it looks awesome)... Was incredibly disappointed when I received it. It was a fraction of the size with maybe 6 small pieces of chicken in it and in general very bland. Makes me not want to go back given the egregious false advertising Only reason it's not 1 star is it was a to-go order so maybe that had something to do with it

Really enjoyed this spot & will be back! Service was a little slow but I usually expect this as new and trending places. Spicy tuna crispy rice is soo delicious we ordered another one! We never got it and canceled it, I think our server may have forgotten. All in all was a good experience & great for a girls night.

Epic disappointment! It's really sad that the experience was not good bc this place has all the components of what would make a great place. We stopped in thinking we could have a quick bite to eat and enjoy our Sunday afternoon. We sat upstairs. The chairs were super wobbly and the tables that were open were not very clean. We were greeted pretty quickly and brought water. We ordered drinks and some oysters. The waitress came back and asked which type of oysters we wanted. She didn't know the options and there was nothing on the menu to distinguish which types were available. She came back and told us, but said she was new. We ordered. Service was so slow. Drinks took a long time. After they sat on the bar for some time, they were finally brought over. We had to get up and grab napkins. So disappointing when people don't have basic understanding that cold drinks quickly die in the window and ice melts rapidly in hot temps so things like cocktail napkins are essential so you aren't sitting in puddles of water when you offer outdoor seating. The oysters came. We had to ask for everything- napkins, forks, crackers. These oysters were so tiny that it almost wasn't even worth the effort to eat them. We asked for crackers. We got a total of 8 crackers. We open them and they were stale. Also an issue with outdoor venues- keep the stuff inside. As we were sitting, no one bothered to ask if we wanted to order anything else and we figured things would only get worse. We asked for the check and paid over 60.00 for a dozen tiny oysters and 2 drinks. It's a one and done for me. It seemed as we entered and exited, the downstairs bar would have been a better option. Maybe this is good for drinks only, but the level of service needs a complete overhaul. It's truly sad when you are googling places nearby to eat while you are supposed to be having dinner.

Lovely spot for a drink and a bite. Great outdoor seating upstairs. We'll be back again for a date night (no kids allowed after 3pm.)

We went here on Saturday, 10/12. It was one of the first beautiful, autumn nights, and we were happy to get a table on the upstairs balcony/patio. Funny note, on the wall directly in front of me, were two TVs, each showing the LSU/Ole Miss game. Except on of them was easily 20 seconds behind the other, so it was a little confusing at first to see everything twice. They probably should have just put another game on the delayed TV. I originally wrote this review a few days ago, but realized it had turned into a long rant that sounded like a personal attack on our server, so I deleted it. But I will say that our server that night should not be a customer-facing person in hospitality. She wasn't just bad at her job, but she really seemed to dislike it. I won't say she was rude, but she definitely gave a vibe of...well...she doesn't like serving people. And she really was not good at it. Now, the food was mostly pretty good. My GF had the tuna rice crisps, and really like them. I got their dry-aged burger, and the burger was pretty good. The waffle fries that came with it were terrible. They looked great - golden brown and crispy looking, but they were bland, tough, and chewy. In all honesty, I wasn't sure I should eat the fries anyway, and, well, that wasn't a problem. They were terrible. So, overall, if we had gotten an engaged and friendly server, this review could be a 4. Yes, the fries were terrible, but the rest of the food was good and it was a nice, comfortable evening. But, IF we go back and if we see the same server, we'll leave. I'm leaving out the laundry list of reasons why I'm saying that - she was just a bad waitress, and she didn't want to be there. Which made us not want to deal with her. In fact, based on the service from this one person, I really feel like 3 stars is too many. Oh, by the way, the gentleman that brought us our drinks, and the lady who brought us our food, were very friendly and responsive. It was just the main waitress in the upstairs area on that Saturday night.

Went for lunch on Thursday. We both started with the margaritas. It was pretty good. For food I got the turkey sandwich and my friend got the club both with fries. I was very happy with my choice. Definitely recommend and will need to go again at dinner.

Third time is the charm! First owners tried hard to make this place a bougie style foodie type place. It was ok, but didn't really take off. Second owners attempted to do the same, but I'm not sure exactly what the issues were. Maybe management, maybe patrons didn't like the type of small bites they offered. Third owners have knocked it out the park. I've eaten there 3 times since the re-brand "Barcar". This place is a fancy top notch bar/ cocktail lounge where you can order excellent food and cocktails. Upstairs is a bit more of a casual setting where you can hang out with your friends and watch sporting events on their huge screen tv. You can also order the same food and drinks as downstairs, but in a more relaxed outdoor setting. This place should last a long time as long as they continue doing what they do. If I had to give a negative, it would be that I believe the waiter staff could use a few more servers. (This is a problem everywhere at the moment) The wait staff they have are friendly, efficient, and attentive. They are non stop, but a tad overwhelmed which can make service slow service. I had the chicken sandwich which was possibly the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. I've been twice for steak night, in which they serve a much better cut of meat than any other bar in the area at the same price. This place is becoming one of my favorite for a quick dinner in the area!

For our anniversary, my fiancé and I decided to try this new spot that I saw on instagram and boy were we blown out of the water! Al (Albert) & Joanna (I'm if that's now how you spell it) were amazing servers who both took care of us the whole time. The food was delicious, very flavorful, and it came out pretty quick too for how busy the bar was. (Wednesday night steak night is a must for sure!) We also ordered raw oysters but those were so good I forgot to grab a picture :) . For only being open 5 months, everything runs pretty smoothly, the ambiance is refreshing, and this spot is definitely added to our "go-to" list!

Drinks are great and it's a nice place to drink & enjoy some good appetizers on the outside deck upstairs. Not gonna lie, service really could have been better. We drank there for hours, hanging out, and it wasn't very busy at first but the servers during the day shift weren't very attentive to us & got our food order wrong (nbd), but i feel it got better as the night went on because we did get a different server since we stayed into the next shift. I would give it another shot, since it may have been a one off- and it is a cool place to hang out.

Did we just find our new favorite place in Metairie? YUP! And it's a walk from our house. The food was incredible and the cocktails were expertly made. The time saver was refreshing and perfect to drink on the rooftop. The spicy tuna crispy rice is something I'll crave. The shrimp tacos were amazing. The burger with pawpaws brioche bun may be my favorite burger I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The rooftop was modern with a large TV to watch the game. Seating was seat yourself on the rooftop. Music was a bit loud but nothing we couldn't talk over. We will be back many times!

Cute spot and great drinks! Unfortunately the bar tender downstairs had no interest in serving us even tho the bar was not very busy. Our drinks sat empty and my husband had to flag him down for another and flag him down again to get our check. With some better service, this could be a great place.

Cannot comment on the food because we never received and sat with empty glasses for around 15min until my friend waved down a server.Our server was lovely and very apologetic about our food fiasco.We live in the neighbourhood and left for a bar close by and got our food in under 15mins

The dry aged cheeseburger with carm onions on a fresh everything bun is my new favorite burger. We also loved the lobster roll. Can't wait to watch football on the balcony this fall. You can feel it in the air this time of year.

We decided to go to Bar Car for the LSU game because they have been advertising their new menu & rooftop bar. They had advertised "2-4-1" select drinks. Our group had each ordered about 3 drinks per person when someone in our group told the waiter "I'll have my second time saver for the 2-4-1 deal." The waitress replies "that's not what that means." Apparently the "2-4-1" didn't mean two drinks for the price of one, but rather a double for the price of a single. Their ads were very misleading as they posted 2 drinks for the promo. This was really disappointing and they were not very nice or understanding. The food was decent but the service was not good. Not sure if we'll be back.

Service was excellent. However, the beer was warm and the burgers were awful; we had to send two back. The waffle fries were grossly undercooked. Don't waste your money.

We had the ceviche and it was so fresh and delicious! Our bartender "Lil Moses" Ashten was the best. He makes great cocktails and is very engaging and friendly. The rooftop serves a a beautiful ambiance and a view is Metairie Rd. Perfect place for a date night or a girls night!

What a winner!!!Barcar has it all-especially friendly and efficient staff members that make you feel special. Steve the bartender and Jennifer the service specialist set the bar high in this old Metairie jewel. staff was unfriendly. could not get a drink for a while. went next store to get a coffee. the employee was very rude. then came back to Barcar to talk about us and the lady that works for Barcar was very rude. we just came for a nice time and it was very disappointing!

Meh. Drinks were ok. Staff was friendly but not super attentive. Food was just ok. Cool ambiance.
