The Hottest New Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul Right Now, November 2024

"Barcelona Wine Bar, a popular national chain, has opened its first Midwest outpost in Minneapolis’s North Loop. Chef Alex Dayton — one of the names behind handmade pasta business Aliment Pasta Co. — is heading the kitchen, serving a menu of Spanish charcuterie (cured ham, garlicky chorizo, red-wine soaked aged goat’s milk, etc.); tapas (think steamed mussels with focaccia, Catalan-style ratatouille, and pork belly with cherry pepper chimichurri, to name a few); and a few large plates, like paella and whole branzino. The wine list, of course, is extensive, and heavy on selections from Spain and South America." - Eater Staff

Delicious food and a fantastic wine selection! The chicken with avocado cilantro sauce and the cheesecake were unforgettable, and their dirty martinis are spot on. Service is friendly, but the staff could use more training on wine pouring and etiquette. Overall, a wonderful spot with Spanish flair that I’d happily recommend. Do not miss their Happy hour on Mondays! They have fantastic deals.

Barcelona Wine Bar is the perfect place for tapas, to try a bunch of wines, a date night, or just a nice night out with friends. We were most impressed with the outstanding service and wine recommendations. The food was good but nothing we haven’t had before. We tried a charcuterie board and were familiar with the cheeses, meats, and olives.

Google
I’ve been here a couple of times and it has met my expectations in every way. They have a great variety of flavor bursting tapas. The creative cocktail list is so fun and the wine list is surprising. Not your typical choices. The bartenders really know the drink and food menus as well. It has a lively upbeat vibe. Sitting at the bar is fun where you have the bartenders right there to answer any questions. The cauliflower was outstanding in a complex super flavorful sauce. I can’t wait to go back.

Google
Food and wine were yummy. Atmosphere was lovely, just lacking quality service. Nothing terrible just slow; you’d wait around so long between being seen, drinks and food came out at such odd intervals it made for not the best fluid experience. Maybe just our experience.

I love tapas. They give you a chance to try so many different dishes, and they are fun! Barcelona Wine Bar serves tapas...although in the city of Barcelona they call them pintxos. And they have a lot of choices! Before I get into those tapas, I should mention their craft cocktails. They have bartenders who know what they are doing, and with one exception the cocktails were excellent. I had an Ipanema - cachaca, cocchi Americano, lustau fino jarana, and lemon. Complex and interesting. My husband had their take on a Manhattan! He loved it. Now ... the tapas! You really must get the jamon and manchego croquetas- lovely little fried balls of deliciousness (and very traditional). The grilled pulpo and potatoes were sensational. The shrimp on toast is wonderful, as is the hangar steak - tender pieces of perfectly cooked, very tender steak served with perfect crispy onions. If you are still hungry, we also enjoyed the chicken thigh with aji verde sauce. My husband loves paella, so one of the times we were there he ordered the paella mariscos. The seafood was perfectly cooked, but I found the rice dry and heavy. I would skip it. I also found the flan a bit heavy for my taste, but it was well prepared and typical of many Spanish flans. They have a fantastic wine list, needless to say. They have a lot by the glass. You can turn any 3 wines by the glass into your own tasting flight. I did this with the three bubblies they had when we went last time. I loved them all. Oh, just to be clear; we did not eat all these dishes on the same evening. The service is fantastic, the bartenders and the wait staff are knowledgeable and attentive. However, be prepared for noise, because the volume is quite loud. And I mean really loud. Despite these minor issues, I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant and wine bar. You will love the tapas for sure!!

Google
I had a fantastic dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. Our server was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. They checked on us regularly without being intrusive and made great recommendations from the menu. The food was delicious, but what really stood out was the exceptional service. It’s clear that the team values customer satisfaction and takes pride in their work. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and outstanding hospitality!

Google
Partner and I went here for a spontaneous, late night date. I’d been here previously with some friends and enjoyed it, so wanted to experience with him. We didn’t get that many tapas, but loved the ones we got! Since I had already tried some of it, I knew what to expect from the croquetas, truffled bikini and flan, but he was really impressed with all of the food. The grilled pulpo was extremely tender, so we loved that and the tomatoes were flavorful and paired well with the octopus and corn! I’m usually not a huge fan of cream/super cheesy or fried things, but the croquetas were to die for. He really loved the truffled bikini. The crudo was good, just not the best in the line up we had—it tasted fresh and I loved the taste of the lemon & olive oil. From dessert, we LOVED the flan. Partner usually doesn’t love flan, but he was literally flabbergasted lol. It’s creamy and melts in your mouth, but maintains the consistency of flan. The caramel sauce is perfectly sweet and not burnt. Churros were okay, but probably our least favorite overall of the night. From drinks, I got the Pica Pica and enjoyed that. Partner got the East India Solera, but didn’t even drink it. Depending on your tastes for that, it’s a bit much for us personally. Too sweet, but in a way that reminded us of cough drops a bit. Service was good. I liked that Barcelona was open and still had kitchen service despite us coming in at 10pm. It’s a cute vibe and atmosphere for sure, but forewarning—it’s pretty loud when it’s super busy. Partner sat across from me and we had a hard time hearing each other. I would recommend ordering slowly because the table is small compared to the amount of things coming out, even when you’re in a group of 2-4.

Google
Loved my experience here! Went with a friend and we ordered a bunch of different tapas and charcuterie board. Everything was phenomenal and I definitely would come again. We also told the waitress that we didn’t eat pork and she kindly gave us a menu and crossed out the pork items so we knew what to order. For the amount of food we got we paid a really decent price for two people.

Yelp
This place is a gem with amazing, authentic Spanish tapas. On our first visit we enjoyed the hearty aperitivo board and some of the special focaccia (not really Spanish but delicious) and should have stopped there-so much food. Best advice is to skip lunch so you have room to sample from the extensive menu. My second visit was on a Tuesday-not nearly as loud as the previous (Thursday) visit when it was impossible to even converse across the tiny two-person table. Given the layout, the best plan would be to come in a group of 4 so you have a bit more room for food-the two person tables are just too small. Even better the sweet spot might be a party of 5-there are 4 spacious ROUND tables in front of the wine wall that are well spaced and offer ample room. A couple Other tasty items, the gambas (shrimp), platas (amazing potatoes). Ambiance is warm and cozy but the high ceiling make it almost unbearably noisy on a busy night. Parking? Nonexistent. You've got to circle aimlessly until you are lucky enough to score a spot within a few blocks on the street. A big drawback but if you live downtown or work there, probably not an issue. Tasty and fun.

Yelp
We had heard such great things about Barcelona Wine Bar that we had to give it a try! Note: would definitely recommend getting a reservation as they get quite busy! We had some delicious food. The focaccia was a little too salty for me, but otherwise delicious; the potatoes bravas were great; the cheesecake isn't sweet -- so if you are looking for sweet, I wouldn't recommend that (though I liked it. They have a reputation for the gin and tonic type drinks and they lived up to it! Because it gets so busy (especially on a Friday night), expect a lot of noise. The one downside for us was how loud it was, actually, and how close the tables were together, which made it a little hard to carry on conversation without feeling like we were shouting.

Yelp
While I didn't take any photos while here, we just had our company holiday party here and it was lovely. The food was amazing, and there is so much to choose from! The atmosphere was soothing and intimate (think dim lights, nice seating, rustic yet clean). I am planning on going back with my boyfriend soon, as this is the perfect place for date night! Parking is street only, so it can be tricky, but eventually you'll find a spot.

Yelp
10/10 experience all around! Food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and vibes were all on point here. Definitely one of my new favorite spots that I'll be recommending to everyone. You'll want to make reservations ahead of time to get a spot. It's tapas style so you can try a little bit of a variety of dishes, which was fun. The tapas, drinks and dessert were all crazy good! We loved our server who was so attentive and made sure we had a great experience. I highly recommend this for a group, celebration, date night or with friends! If you haven't been- add this to your list!

Yelp
This was a very nice wine bar with good vibes. The service was very friendly and the wine was tasty. They have sp many options of wine and they also have cocktails, mocktails, and beer. We got there right at 4 when they opened and there were some other people at the same time, there's always people there!

Yelp
We loved this place. The server was friendly. We were celebrating a birthday and was got to do this fun drink pour. Best food we have had in a while. We shared everything we got as a good. The chicken thigh was hands down the best thing and everyone should get. It's a darker environment and it is a little loud as it is a very popping place.

Yelp
Nice new restaurant in north loop but a little overhyped in my opinion Service was good but some of the tapas was underwhelming- most disappointed with the mussels where half were actually closed!!!! I should have told the manager as that can cause food poisoning but I didn't at the time Now the olive oil cake was amazing!! Wines were good, nice atmosphere although can be very loud in there I'd be willing to try again- go with a group so I can try more dishes Not comparable to actual tapas in Spain

Yelp
What a lovely evening! Amazing service from Chris and delicious food across the board. They have an excellent beverage selection featuring an impressive wine list that includes options for 3-oz pours if you're a fan of building your own flight. I was stoked to see their mocktail options. While limited, they were both very intriguing. I went with the Bees & Bay, and it's easily the tastiest zero-proof beverage in the North Loop--tart, a bit bitter, and redolent with cardamom. It's this kind of drink that makes me think that the Twin Cities have to be one of the best places in the USA for non-drinkers. The food here is great--there's an amazing selection of charcuterie and cheese (as with the wine, you can build your own flight) as well as some extra-special options. We orders the Délice de Bourgogne and some focaccia--they went beautifully together. The rosemary and smoky paprika in the bread? Delicious. I was thoroughly impressed with the number of vegetarian options available. I went with the homemade ricotta, which was a delight. It paired beautifully with the grilled levain, and the tomato mermelada had me dancing in my seat. I also had the good sense to order the broccolini, which was cooked perfectly and came served atop a pool of toum, which was described as an eggless aioli and sprinkled with sumac. I really loved it--lemony brightness on lemony brightness. For dessert, I snagged a taste of my mom's flan (super amazing) and then enjoyed the Basque cheesecake. It was very tasty--a perfect choice if you're looking for something less sweet--and a little bit crumbly. The top had the perfect amount of char. The restaurant itself has a modern and classy feel--darker colors, sleek lines, and modern art that complements the original brick of the building. Overall, Barcelone Wine Bar is a real showstopper. It caters to a younger crowd and was full of couples enjoying nights out, small groups celebrating birthdays, and a handful of double dates. The only downside is that it got really loud and was harder to hear the conversation.

Yelp
Just checked out Barcelona Wine Bar with my husband for a date night. It's such a fun spot, the vibe is super high-energy and buzzing. We mostly focused on having different tapas. We started with three and ordered another three after finishing the first round. This was smart because the food came out pretty fast, so it was nice not to have six different plates on our small table at the same time. The portions were great for two people, and splitting with more than two people might leave you wanting more bites of things you really like. The Spiced Beef Empanadas were good (order them), and the Jamón & Manchego Croquetas were fire (order them). We tried the Grilled Pulpo (octopus), which was a first for me, and I actually really liked it--it was tender and kinda similar to calamari. The Eggplant Caponata was probably my least favorite cause there wasn't enough texture between the eggplant and pepper, but that's just my taste. One thing, though--the tables are super close together, so it felt like everyone around us could hear our convo, which isn't ideal for a date night. But honestly, that wouldn't stop me from going back. I'm already planning to come here with the girls for dinner or maybe even brunch!

Yelp
Barcelona Wine Bar in Minneapolis is an absolute gem! I visited with a group of friends, and we were blown away by the cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. The ambiance, complete with great music, made it the perfect setting for our night out. We started with the Aperitivo Board, which was packed with delicious Spanish snacks like Jamón Serrano, Fuet, Mahón, Manchego, and more. We devoured it all--it's definitely worth the price because you get to try such a variety! Next, we indulged in the tapas, including Chicken Thigh, Pork Belly, Spiced Beef Empanadas, and of course, Patatas Bravas (we loved them so much we had to order them twice!). The standout dishes were the Pork Belly, Patatas Bravas, and Eggplant Caponata--each one was a flavor explosion. We also tried the full-size Paella Salvaje, which was a true taste of Spain. The combination of Guacho Sausage, Chicken, Chorizo, Pork Belly, and Chickpeas was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. To finish, we couldn't resist the Basque Burnt Cheesecake with rhubarb--absolutely divine! The staff was attentive and made excellent recommendations, enhancing our experience even further. I highly recommend visiting with friends so you can share a variety of dishes. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance, as we had to wait about 45-50 minutes. Overall, a fantastic dining experience--I can't wait to return! Five stars all the way!

Yelp
It's a really cute, darker (not dark though) ambiance kind of place. The service was amazing from hostess to servers and bartenders alike. We got a few cocktails including their rose sangria. It was delicious! When it came to food, we ordered a LOT of small plates. 4 adults, 2-3 small plates ordered per person and we all shared. We also ordered the half meat plate to share. We had the perfect amount of food and everything was to die for. Some faves: the meatballs, the mushrooms, the scallops and the sausage from the meat plate. TLDR; Go! It's so worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
The wine was worth it, the food was not. This is a great drinks place, but if you're expecting quality food I think you'll be disappointed. Everything was lathered in sauce or excessively charred. Alone the dishes were good, but together it felt overpowered with flavor... the feeling that they are overcompensating for mediocre ingredients and preparation.

Yelp
I used to live near a Barcelona location in another state, so when I heard one was opening up in MN I was super excited. And this spot lives up to the hype! I've probably been here 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I've loved almost everything I've ordered off the menu, especially both the red and white sangrias. Favorite tapas & my must orders so far have been the gambas al ajillo, patatas bravas, steamed mussels, champiñones a la plancha, jamon & manchego croquetas, and chicken thigh . The only menu item I haven't loved sadly was the grilled gem lettuce salad, but I tend not to love warm lettuce so I may not be the best judge for that one. Pro tip: also order the focaccia to dip in anything with a sauce. Everyone who works here is super friendly too! They do get super busy so make a reservation and be ready for a longer meal.

Yelp
OK, such a welcome new spot for the north loop! There are some solid spots on Washington Ave, but it has been lacking an easy to go bop for small bites that still feels upscale. Inside of what I believe is an old warehouse, the space is blooming with character, even after just opening a few weeks prior. We tried a few different wines and were grateful that our server helped guide us during the selection process - the menu is quite vast. The food is tapas style, making it a perfect spot to come with a group, and some of the tapas could even be enough for a meal of your own. I know there are BWB locations in other states, and it sounds like they all try to cultivate their own vibe with local foods incorporated into the menu. If these were the goals of the north loop BWB, I would say they excelled. Jamon and Manchengo Croquetas: tasty little fried balls filled with ham and cheese, can't go wrong. Four come per order and they are bite size, not too filling, and a great spot to start. (4/5) Roasted Cauliflower: unique in a good way, basic charred cauliflower with the sauce accompaniment taking over the dish, again, in a good way. I expected a creamy yogurt based sauce per the description, but found it to be more of a dressing consistency? Very garlic forward and rich, almost like a bagna cauda flavor? Added fresh mint on top was nice touch. (3/5) Patatas Bravas: if these are listed, I am always ordering a serving. My comparison are the patatas bravas from Estelle in St. Paul (if you haven't been, go!). The ones from Barcelona were crispy, hot and smothered in mayo with a rich, red salsa that coated the bottom of the plate. The flavor combination is exceptional. (4/5) Albondigas: these were a miss for me, what were described as spiced meatballs in a jamon-tomato sauce were really quite bland. Not much spice and the sauce was very mediocre, not infusing any ham flavor. Unfortunately, the dish was also served lukewarm. (2/5) The character that this space brings to the north loop is unmatched, it really fits in perfectly, as if it has been an establishment on Washington for years, not weeks. Overall the food was solid, will be back once they've been open for a few more months!

Yelp
I went to Barcelona Wine Bar with a friend for the first time. I thought the inside had a great atmosphere and was well decorated. We didn't make a reservation so we sat at the bar and got a few tapas and some wine & sangria. I thought the food was okay but the drinks and drink selection was great. The bar tenders were very friendly as well and knowledgeable on the gluten free options which I appreciated. We got the patatas bravas and brussel sprouts and I thought they were okay but I wouldn't get them again. For drinks I got a red wine and the Guns & Roses sangria that were both very good. There is street parking nearby, leave extra time for finding parking. Make a reservation if you are looking for a table because it gets busy! I would like to go back for drinks another time and try some other sangrias on their menu.

Yelp
Barcelona Wine Bar is the perfect addition to the North Loop! My friend and I sat at the bar and had a wonderful time. The bartender was informative and provided samples of wine so that we could find the perfect glass. The food was delicious and we already have plans to come back so we can try more of their incredible dishes! The interior design/aesthetic was very well done. Would highly recommend Barcelona Wine Bar for your next date night or happy hour!

Yelp
Moody, dark, romantic, euro techno music. Barcelona is the vibe. After waiting over an hour for a table, my hopes were dwindling. I was just about to find another place when I got the text our table was ready and scurried over there. And let me tell you, the whole experience was worth the wait! The servers were quick, attentive, but knew when to give us space during our conversations. We loved the tapas especially the patatas pravas and tuna crudo. The drinks were smooth, perfectly balanced. Overall Barecelona Wine Bar gets a 5/5 for me.

Yelp
I've been to a different Barcelona location and wanted to try this one once it opened in Minneapolis. First impression: there is nothing that made me feel like it was a Spanish restaurant, not really much warmth in the decor. Might as well have been the Old Spaghetti Factory. Also, the location I have been to in DC was more fun, the waiters would walk around with Spanish glass carafes and pour drinks into customers mouth (if they were willing of course). This location lacked that "fun" aspect. The food: the paella was what I was looking forward to most but was disappointed with. We didn't have any of that crusty rice, which is a must with a properly made paella and there was a bit of a strange flavor. The ham and cheese croquettes were very good; great flavor and I loved the mayo sauce they were paired with. The polpo (octopus) was fantastic; the chimichuri it comes with was fantastic and so flavorful. Finally, the cheesecake was great; creamy, smooth, sweet, paired with a sourish sauce, just everything you want from a cheesecake! I like that you can get flexibility in wine glass sizes (3 or 6 oz), so you have an opportunity to try different wines if you want!

Yelp
Came here around 415 on a Saturday and had a reservation. It wasn't too packed which was nice. We got seated immediately and had a good interaction at the front. Got seated at a spot that was right next to a weird awkward curtain they kept trying to close haha but it cut us off from the rest of the restaurant so we didn't want that. Anyways.. we ordered 2 different 6 oz pours of wine and had ordered them at the same time but the convo we had with our waitress we had kind of stressed we wanted them to come out not together well they still did. Haha not a huge deal but read the room. Then we ordered like 4 or 5 different tapas plates. Also shared we would like things to come out staggered as we were at a small table.. I will never ever again assume that waitresses or waiters know to stagger I will always say something from now on. we had a tiny ass table haha. Everything came at once which not ideal but the food was amazing. Everything we had. The ciabatta was amazing and somehow light and fluffy. The olives were a master piece in a nice light olive oil and a nice lil snack. The cheesy potatoes were so nice and fluffy and definitely double fried and amazing with a delicious cheese sauce. The steak with also amazing, Perfectly cooked and a great quality. Also got the shrimp on toast which was another winner, it was more of a creamy shrimp salad which was unexpected but it was really good and refreshing. We will definitely be back here however... will have to stress the need of staggering!! Ambiance was amazing.. clean.. light.. airy... classy, loved that!

Yelp
Tapas is always a fun, but expensive experience LOL. Barcelona Wine Bar is a fun place to go dress up for a night out with your girls or a cute date. We got 4 dishes: the Jamón & Manchego Croquetas (fried balls), Pork Belly (self explanatory), Gambas Al Ajillo (shrimp), and Patatas Bravas (potatoes). They were pretty good! My favorite was the croquetas. We finished off the night with a Chocolate Flourless Cake which I surprisingly loved. I usually don't like flourless cakes but this one was sweet but not too sweet and definitely what I needed. The thing about tapas is that the plates are smaller and meant to be shareable, so it's recommended to get 4-6 plates. The menu was honestly a bit overwhelming so we had our server recommend the most ordered plates. Overall each of the plates themselves were amazing, but I'm just not meant to order fancy and expensive foods LOL. We got mainly meat and carbs so I would have liked to order a veggie plate but that wasn't in my budget. The ambiance there definitely screams "fancy." I always love dressing up and looking cute so I definitely felt at home there. The thing about the ambiance, however, is that it's not the most conducive to getting to know someone. Especially during popular times during the weekend, the place can get pretty packed and especially since everyone is in pretty close quarters with each table, it gets REALLY loud. I had to shout to talk to the waiter and my friend. We got dinner on a Wednesday evening at 6p and it was hard to hear. Also parking in North Loop is always hard so be aware of that as well. Overall, I'm glad to have tried the place out. I saw its opening on Instagram and immediately wanted to check it out. I probably wouldn't go back because my taste is more "hole in the wall," budget-friendly places but I can definitely see the appeal!

Yelp
After hearing so many people rave about Barcelona, I made a reservation and was really excited to try it on my birthday. I had tried coming in before but they had a reservation issue with double-booking people, so they were too busy to accommodate walk-ins. Now that I've been, there isn't much of a reason I'd recommend it based on my experience. We had a Friday evening reservation that I was really looking forward to! The person who walked us to our table was super nice and explained the menu to us, but then our server came by and insisted on repeating the exact long description despite me letting her know we'd just had the menu explained. We were seated by the windows looking onto the street. The repeated, rehearsed spiel from our server was awkward and the atmosphere was loud (despite not being super busy), so I had a feeling we might not want to spend too much time there and we ended up ordering less than we had planned. I'd heard that the olive oil cake was a crowd favorite - we thought it was okay. The tea time mocktail was the highlight, with blue flower earl grey tea, blueberry, lemon, and mint. Overall, our service experience for a birthday / date night was less than ideal, but perhaps this spot is better suited for a group.

Yelp
We were planning on having dinner, but unfortunately their kitchen didn't have any power. We had a cocktail instead - loved the white wine sangria! The wine bar is so cute and the perfect place for date night! I'd love to go back and try the food as well.

Yelp
We had to make an early reservation due to availability. 5:15 seemed early but it was a good time to take in the ambiance, people watch and savor the menu. Table was small but they helped us navigate the limited two seater. We started with two cheeses- I preferred the soft cheese recommended by server. Kale salad was nice, fresh and lemony and they used baby kale so easy to digest. We had the pork belly and shrimp. I preferred the broiled shrimp and it had a lovely dipping oil for the bread. Roasted mushrooms were fine but the Brussels sprouts were amazing. The red sangria was my favorite- not too sweet and it had a nice citrus note. We ended our fabulous meal with chocolate cake. Small size but plenty big for two. Try it- various textures and flavors.

Yelp
We just celebrated my husband's birthday at Barcelona Wine Bar. After going to a location in Boston last year, we were very excited to try this new location in Minneapolis. We made a reservation, and were seated promptly. The decor was nice and modern, but the lighting was extremely dim. We ordered a pitcher of red sangria and 6 tapas for the two of us. The sangria was good, but not as great as we remembered. All of the tapas came out within a 5-minute window, which made our table very crowded and hard to navigate. Everything was very tasty- the highlights were the croquetas, the mushrooms, and the prawns with the chimichurri. Our only complaint was that the boquerones were awkwardly placed on top of a pile of chips with the sauce underneath, which made them hard to eat. After we were done eating, our table was filled with empty plates for a solid 15 minutes, and our server walked by 2-3 times and didn't bother to bus the plates from our table, which was odd. For dessert, we mentioned that we had a birthday at the table. We ordered a few desserts, including a chocolate cake for the birthday boy (which was delicious). Our server brought it out with a candle and everything, which was nice. Until after leaving when I noticed that we were charged for the birthday dessert. Overall, the food was great, the drinks were good, and the service was just okay. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5. Would we go back? Yes, but we're not in a hurry. For the price point and location. I expected more.

Yelp
This is a great spot in northloop. Decently priced and love that you can buy 3oz wines so you can try multiple. The patatas bravas tastes like Barcelona tapas. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Best to make a reservation for larger groups but you could probably get in here without a reservation on a weekday. Love the vibe especially because you can see the kitchen working their magic. Overall we enjoyed dinner here! I'd recommend getting any wine from Spain, patatas bravas, mussels, skip the beef empanadas because they tasted exactly like sloppy joes, but go for the flan at the end for dessert. Overall I'd come back again!

Yelp
Came here on a late night and only tried their dry red wine, it was very good. Service was great too. I will definitely come back and do the whole experiment, and write more reviews.

Yelp
We are just had dinner across the street and unfortunately the kitchen closed unannounced to us so we had to find a different restaurant for dessert. Luckily right across the street was Barcelona. We were seated in the bar as they knew we were only in for a drink and some dessert. Our server was tremendous. He was engaging, funny and also gave us, great suggestions for drinks and also the best desserts to try. We ordered the crêpes, a peach cheesecake and the olive oil cake, which was by far the star of the show. If you only stop in for a glass of wine and the olive oil cake, you will have had a perfect evening. If we hadn't had plans the next night, we would have returned for dessert and amazing service. The location is gorgeous and the bar area is very inviting. I will definitely return on my next trip to Minneapolis.

Yelp
New spot in the North Loop! Nice ambiance, though mood lightening is a bit too dark. Inspite having little lights on the table, it was difficult to read the menu without the help of your cell phone flashlight. The servers were nice, though the service was a bit slow. I believe the kitchen was backed up. It would have been nice to have been told that. We were having a great time chatting so this wasn't too much of a problem. The drink I ordered, tamatio I believe was the name, was a delicious drink. Had more ice than necessary, but refreshing none. The beef empanadas were yummy with a spicy kick. The blue cheese and forcaccia were delicious. The pork chop was well seasoned and flavorful. The prawns and mussels were tasty. The potatoes with cream sauce on the sampler board was *chef's kiss! I'd definitely recommend return.

Yelp
Went to Barcelona for the first time because my friend had been a few times and was raving about it! Very dark in there but it sets the tone! The ambiance is romantic, sexy, chill, nice music! Got a spot right away at the bar as a table would be a 20 min wait (which is NOT bad for a brand new popular restaurant! Food: started with grilled broccouni and mushrooms - both aioli's were light and delicious as they are not made with eggs! Next we had the jamón Serrano (prosciutto) and drunken goat cheese. Light and yummy but $8 a pop for not much. Would still get again. We finished off with the paella mariscos entree which included shrimp, clams, muscles, and calamari. My friend's faaavorite and very filling! Even had to take some leftovers! Drinks: I had the Bourban Spice Rack and loooved it! Friend had the Tygra which was light and refreshing! Of course I had to have some wine too! Highly recommend for date or ladies night!!!

Yelp
Checked out the new wine bar in north loop and was disappointed. We were greeted with excellent service and served was super attentive. We ordered 3oz pours of wine that were delicious and great for tasting other wines. You can mix and match and build your own charcuterie board which we got some delicious cheeses. Only downfall is that it didn't come with crackers. My friend ordered the scallops and I got to try a bite, seriously the best scallops I've ever tasted. Overall ambiance and decor was on point!

Yelp
I've been to their location in Evanston, IL and that was mediocre. This new location is next door of my apartment so I thought we'd give it a go. It turned out great! Nice service, great food (especially the eggplant and the potato dishes), clean bathroom, reasonable price. Chocolate Cake, a must try. It melts in your mouth. With this next to my door, I'd never want to go to the extremely overpriced dessert kitchen in North Loop again. My only complaint is that it's a bit loud. Understandable, because they have so many customers. But you basically have to yell to your friend to let them hear you.

Yelp
Very good new spot in North Loop! All the tapas we tried did not disappoint. The prices were reasonable for the portions you get. Great experience. Thank you.

Yelp
It's not joke when I say I go here almost every week. The tapas are delicious and pro tip is to do the "preset" where you give them a budget (35,55,85) and they'll send out tapas to your taste for the table. This is a fun way to sit back and relax! I regular here just for drinks - their espresso martini is one of my favorites. The vibes in here are fun. It's loud (in a positive way) and is always popping. Great for celebrations and now they do brunch!

Yelp
Had the pleasure of celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary here and met a couple who recently became engaged. We booked our reservation for 4pm and i was surprised at how quickly the placed filled up. I really enjoyed being able to observe everyone and what the tables around us ordered. The potato tortilla was great, my favorite was the seared prawns. I do recommend this place for either a place to go after work, date night, or group event. The only down side was there are no sound dampening boards so it does become quite loud.

Yelp
I haven't written a review in awhile but I HAD to for Barcelona Wine Bar. We had an amazing experience. My friend was gluten free and I am allergic to fresh lemon and our bartender Zena went above and beyond to accommodate our allergies. Walking us through the menu of items we can and cannot eat. Making sure our glasses were always full and talking us through the wines they had. The vibes were intimate, cozy, and sexy. And then not only was the service phenomenal, the tapas were savory and delicious. We shared the house made hummus with crudité, the house made ricotta with tomato marmalade, and the patatas. I will be dreaming of these in my sleep. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Obsessed with this new spot in Minneapolis!! Came to celebrate my sister's birthday and the servers were very kind and made sure to make her feel special. We were given a complimentary espresso chocolate cake we shared everything and got the pork belly, zucchini, potatoes bravas, shrimp, mussels, ratatouille, and focaccia. the shrimp and potatoes were my personal favorites because they were so flavorful there is plenty of beautiful indoor seating, and most of the tables are circle which is a nice family-style touch to the dining experience!! cant wait to come back and try more

Yelp
Happy hours are very underrated! We need more spots to meet friends late in the day! Thank you Barcelona for understanding that. This is the perfect spot for a great glass of wine or a cocktail. There is no pressure to order tons of food...a simple charcuterie will do. But I will be back to order more food and sample a cocktail instead of wine. This place was hopping! The energy was great. A wonderful addition to the North Loop!

Yelp
Lively atmosphere but seems like a chain restaurant that happens to call themselves a wine bar. Walked in without a reservation and host was not helpful and didn't seem to want anything to do with us. Found a couple bar spots, expensive for what it is. Decent wine list if you want to buy a glass of something before buying in a store. Didn't order food so can't speak to that. Parking is tough so plan ahead as street parking in this area is a pin.

Yelp
Service was great! Our host Ellen was very helpful! Tables are nice hard wood. Cheesecake: rich and fluffy. Sauce was great Chocolate cake: soft flavorful. Very good Crapes: fruit was super flavorful!

Yelp
Olive oil cake is to die for! Brunch is definitely underrated- recommend a try if you've already been to dinner before

Yelp
The staff were kind and attentive however not knowledgeable about wine. Given it's a wine bar I was disappointed that our server did not know about the wine list and was unable to give detailed recommendations or bring us someone that could. The house made ricotta is delicious, but the bread that came with it was very stale and chewy which was disappointing for the price. Overall a great concept but needs some more staff training on wine (or someone in house that can come to table to talk about wine list/pairings) and attention to detail for menu items.

Yelp
Walked in with friends for dinner, wait was long but we got Champagne while we waited which was amazing! We ordered the patatas bravas, chickpeas and spinach, tortilla and gambas tapas, all absolutely delicious, my favorite had to be the classic patatas bravas. Wine was great, recommend any of the Garnacha options. Flan is a must!
