Bar Chef was hands-down one of the most memorable parts of my wife and I's trip to Toronto. Upon arriving and walking through the dark, unassuming entrance, we were greeted with a warm, unmistakably upscale interior. Dark textures, large library-like shelves, and candles adorned almost every surface visible.
My wife and I arrived early so we waited at the bar and enjoyed a few of the classic cocktails, which were excellent. The bartender seemed truly passionate about her job and explained almost everything she was doing, which was interesting and enjoyable. Upon moving to our table, my wife and I ordered two of the sensory experience drinks, which I will cover in the next paragraph, fries, and the braised cheek sliders. The fries were crispy and delicious and their accompanying sauce was equally amazing. The sliders were good but lacked some seasoning.
Now, the star of the show: the drinks. The sensory experience cocktails are unforgettable. Each comes on a tray of sorts and is accompanied with some plants or other adornments that suggest the taste profile of the drink. Additionally, most come with a food item--be it truffles, shaved ice, or something else. Finally, all (of course) come with an alcoholic beverage that is truly top notch. The experience is unlike nearly anything I have experienced elsewhere since it truly pays homage to the craft of making a cocktail and, as the bar's name suggests, converts the bartender into a chef in many ways.
I highly recommend stopping here and will say it is truly a unique experience. My wife and I enjoyed it so much, we went back the next night!
