To start with, I think a $20 cover charge for guys is pretty ridiculous though, I've been to packed places in the city and Hoboken, and not been charged $20. That, and the fact that there's a semi strict dress code, not cool.
But anyway, me and my friends came for a birthday on Friday night around 10.
They charge you $10 for 'valet,' even if you park the car yourself... On the street.
The place was not packed when we got in, so we just went and grabbed a table. For drinks, me and one friend started with a couple vodka redbulls, about $10 per drink and they weren't bad, or too small, so I was cool with it. The bartenders were also very friendly and reasonably attentive - I didn't have to wait very long any time I went to get a drink.
I also need to point out that the bouncers were not complete dicks, they were kinda friendly actually. Because, I get it, bouncers need to be tough and they have a job that can sometimes be pretty stressful when dealing with a bunch of drunk assholes. But it's nice when they can still treat people respectfully.
The decor in the place is nice, black chairs and tables, they keep the lights dim, and you feel like you're in a nice club.
They play a lot of Latino songs, which was great for us because that's what we were looking for, there was also some hip hop thrown in, which was nice too.
Before not too long though, we were told we had to move from the table we'd been at a while, or pay for bottle service. There was no reservation sign on the table, and we'd been there a while, ordering drinks. Regardless, I don't think it's a right practice to tell people who have been there for some time (especially when the place is not full) that they have to pay for bottle service, or get off the table.
Thankfully, there was another open table, and in fact in a better spot, that we moved to and stayed at for the duration of our time there (until about 2:30/3 AM).
At the other table, we all continued dancing, ordering drinks and having a good time. At some point though, I ordered a hookah ($26). Now the hookah came pretty quickly, and the flavor was good, it pulled nicely, but it was a small hookah and didn't last very long. When I went to ask how much a refill for the hookah was, guess what I was told? $26. There are hookah lounges that give you full sized hookahs that do not charge that much for the first one, let alone a refill. So while hookah is great, I personally don't think it's worth it here.
Now, if you're coming here, especially if you're a guy, you're looking at a pretty pricey night. Personally, I think their hookah price should be lowered, at least for the refills, and they shouldn't charge people to park on the street, a practice I'm not entirely sure is even legal. But, regardless, me and my friends really like the music and despite also being kicked off our original table, we had a great time dancing, and drinking and smoking our overpriced hookah. I would come back here.
Tl;dr: Great music, friendly staff, nice party atmosphere, standard priced, good drinks, but overpriced hookah, valet and cover charge. Would come back though.
