The Best Resorts in the World: 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards

"Situated on the former site of Lucy and John Bardessono's former homestead just steps from downtown Yountville, the 62-room eco-luxe hotel—with an on-site spa and garden-to-table-inspired eatery, Lucy Restaurant & Bar—was constructed using salvaged Tufa stone from the original family home; a 200-kilowatt solar energy system; and low volatile compound for all adhesives, finishes, paints, and carpets. The LEED Platinum–certified sanctuary is divvied up into Spa suites (ideal for couples with 800 square feet of space including a fully-enclosed furnished courtyard or patio); Steam Spa suites with an indoor shower-gone-steam room and an outdoor shower; and Tufa suites akin to wine country townhomes with massive living rooms, abstract art, and outdoor patios with flat-screen TVs." - CNT Editors

Bardessono Hotel and Spa

"Why book? A secluded, eco-minded hideaway that feels like your very own grown-up modern residence. It's the ultimate place to slip completely under the radar while being surrounded by world-renowned art and nature. Set the scene It's quiet luxury here. Guests range from high-fashion socialites and international art and design aficionados to mother-daughter duos and wine enthusiasts. What sets the hotel apart is not only the modern architecture and design with a calming, earth-toned palette, but the eco factor. It's only one of seven LEED Platinum-certified hotels in the country (the highest rating by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program) with zen-like gardens dotted with small wooden footpaths and water features; large-scale sculptures; an on-site restaurant; a spa with four treatment rooms; an outdoor rooftop pool; a fitness center; and a culinary garden. Walking through the serene setting, you might feel as though you've landed in a public art garden. The hotel serves as a backdrop for an expansive art collection with partner gallery, San Francisco–based Andrea Schwartz Gallery, with upcycled highlights including a digital photograph, Green Earth, New Sky, by Cara Barer; a life-size dog sculpture, Stella, made from remnant metal scraps by Brian Mock; and an abstract stainless steel sculpture, Ace, by Albert Dicruttalo. The backstory The property, dating to 1926, is the former homestead of Italian immigrants John and Lucy Bardessono, who along with John's brother-in-law, Martin Zucco, originally acquired the 20-acre land as a private estate and vineyard. (Lucy and John's portraits, along with black-and-white photos of their seven children, hang in the lobby.) Five acres now remain as the site of the hotel. Lucy carefully maintained a garden, aptly named Lucy's Garden, which still exists on the grounds—and serves as a culinary garden for Lucy Restaurant & Bar—with fresh veggies and herbs spanning pineapple quince, yuzu, tomato, garlic chive, strawberry, chocolate mint, and eggplant. In 2009, the hotel, restaurant, and spa opened as the greenest luxury hotel. A year later, it was awarded LEED Platinum Certification by the US Green Building Council. The rooms The hotel is divvied up into five groves as a nod to a plant or tree growing in each section. Accommodations are categorized based on three types: Spa Suite (available with one king bed or one king and queen bed, suited for families or groups of friends) with mini-fridges stocked with complimentary water in aluminum cans, soaking tubs, and enclosed patios or balconies with lounge chairs and umbrellas; Steam-Spa Suites (also available with one king or one king and a queen) with 1,000 square feet and a dual shower-steam room and an outdoor shower; and seven 750-square-foot Tufa suites with see-through fireplaces separating the living and sleeping areas, steam-showers, outdoor showers, and expanded outdoor courtyards. Three Maple Grove villas, ideal for VIPs and large families, offer even more privacy. The stylish villas (which can be reserved individually or as one entire unit) are appointed with approximately 1,000 square feet of space in different layout options featuring high ceilings; gas fireplaces; four-poster king beds; oil-and-mixed media on canvas works by artists such as John Belingheri; and private plunge pools and outdoor terraces. Food and drink For breakfast, guests can enjoy a grab-and-go option replete with a selection of coffee and tea and complimentary house-made chocolate croissants, apple turnovers, and gluten-free bread. There's also fresh fruit cups and organic yogurt available. At Lucy Restaurant and Bar, Executive Chef Rick Edge (of RH Yountville Restaurant and Indian Springs Calistoga), prepares lunch options with herbs culled from the garden such as four cheese arancini with black truffle aioli and California halibut paired with sweet yellow corn, baby fennel, fingerling potatoes, and Cippolini onions. Dinner entrees include lemon and rosemary roasted chicken accompanied with foraged mushrooms, sunburst squash, arugula, pancetta, and fingerling potatoes, and roasted organic cauliflower with house-made red curry, spinach, lime, and toasted peanuts. The spa B Spa is equipped with a private, one-to-two-person sauna accessed via the locker room, and an extensive spa menu with a salt stone massage using warm Himalayan salt stones, and four types of age-defying oxygen facials utilizing an exclusive line of skincare products by London-based Linda Meredith. (It's the only spa in the state that carries it.) Just in case you don't feel like leaving the room, let the spa come to you. There's a massage table in each room closet for added convenience, and a spa butler can be arranged to draw a customized bath in the soaking tub. The neighborhood/area Located just a street away from the idyllic, tree-lined main drag in Yountville, it's the ideal drop zone for setting out on foot sans the car. Take a stroll to specialty shops and emporiums like Montecristi Panama Hats and V Marketplace, eateries (try Bouchon Bistro or Bistro Jeanty), and seven tasting rooms including Hope & Grace and Priest Ranch. The serviceThe service is impeccable here from the bellmen to the front desk staff. The on-site concierge, Matt Brush, can arrange for everything from dinner recommendations and reservations to transportation via the house Lexus car (within 2.2 miles to the north and 1.4 miles to the south) to nearby wineries such as Mira Winery, Elyse Winery, Chandon, and Hailstone Vineyards. The hotel also has a partnership with Quintessa and Alpha Omega Winery for complimentary tastings. If you prefer to go at your own pace, check out one of the resort's bikes available for use during your stay. Eco effortAs a LEED Platinum–certified property, there's not much about the hotel that isn't thought out from an eco-friendly lens, from bathrooms with low-water flow toilets and earth-conscious Terra Pure green tea bath products to the salvaged Monterey Cypress, walnut, and California Bay trees used for exterior cladding on select buildings. AccessibilityAll suite types are available with ADA-compliant features such as ground-level rooms with roll-in showers outfitted with grab bars, benches, and hand-held shower heads; wheelchair-accessible doors and pathways; and portable hearing assistance devices. The Flint villa is also equipped with grab bars in the shower and a lift for the outdoor spa pool. Anything left to mention? The hotel is pet-friendly and supplies an in-room pup amenity for purchase with a box of gourmet dog treats; a Bardessono bandana; drinking water in aluminum cans by Open Water; water and food bowls; and a plush dog bed for use while on-property. For the ultimate pup pampering, be sure to order off the Barkessono menu for made-to-order creations like Hobb's applewood bacon and spinach and Mary's chicken and rice. The hotel's rooftop pool and fitness center is temporarily closed for updates through the end of January 2024. In 2024, all guest rooms will undergo a refresh with new furnishings and accessories. On Saturday mornings in the summer, join in on a complimentary yoga class." - Jennie Nunn

"Just a short walk from downtown Yountville and its bevy of great restaurants, Bardessono definitely boasts one of the best locations in the valley. With sleek, streamlined décor, excellent tech in room, and the almost impossible-to-accomplish LEED platinum rating, the vibe here is decidedly modern without sacrificing luxury. The grounds are incredibly lush, with the addition of a few well-placed water features, giving you the sense of an outdoor experience despite the relatively compact property."

Can’t say enough about this place and their amazing staff! Best service ever! From check in to check out, they were beyond amazing with their detail oriented customer service. The resort itself is beyond spectacular, the landscaping, gardens, flowers, the room and everything was beautiful. We were celebrating a special occasion and they went above and beyond to make it special despite giving them late notice. Highly recommend this place! We will definitely be staying here every time we’re back!

Google
Five stars on all fronts. From the moment you are greeted at the car by name, to the beautiful grounds, to the complementary glass of bubbly, to the impeccable rooms, to the fabulous spa and the rooftop pool, every facet of this boutique hotel is amazing. We will definitely keep this on our list of hotels to revisit!

Everyone was so helpful from the moment our car door was opened. The front desk accommodated me with information about the developer to the architectural features, etc. Being an Environmentalist... I massively appreciated so much of the hotel is done in sustainable materials. Also, the toiletries used in the hotel were products I could safely use (ORGANIC & VEGAN), in fact, I have since bought some of the same. I appreciate quality materials. Their gardens & walkways are beautiful.||The only recommendation is... having a few more restaurant options for VEGANS would be nice. I am NOT complaining, I'm just explaining. I SO appreciated the complimentary WATERS in recyclable containers (NOT in plastic!) - so beautiful to be seen carrying them thru my day. I truly loved my stay @BARDESSONO.

Google
Wonderful hotel and spa. From the front manager Ray and Christian at the front to the everything in between man Joseph, you couldn’t find a nicer team. The rooms and property is stunning. We had a minor issue and Ray is the manager who stepped up and made our stay even more incredible than it already had started out as. They offer 50 minute massages and other spa services that are fantastic. If in range they will offer you a ride or borrow the Lexus. You will see two rooms posted and both are suites yet one was larger. Patio, outdoor/indoor shower, steam room, fireplace, comfortable beds where they offer extra pillows and a fridge. Endless water and breakfast in the morning has the basics but you may order off a menu. Nice outdoor patio area and heated pool (80 degrees). I can’t say enough about our amazing stay

Google
While celebrating an anniversary trip, we took a friend’s recommendation to stay at Bardessono. We are so thrilled we did! The staff was incredible from check in to the valets to the bartenders! The location is truly ideal for easy rides to Napa or St. Helena, but our favorite part was walking around Yountville each evening! All staff is willing to give their own recommendations for lunch spots, dinners, or wineries! The room was spacious and I especially loved the shades for the morning and the water always being restocked! We ordered breakfast in one morning, but the other mornings the pastries, fruit, and coffee in the bar were perfect! We loved hanging out on our patio and hanging out poolside in the afternoons! We will be recommending Bardessono to our people and cannot wait to be back!!

Staff and service was amazing. We were fortunate to get to upgraded at check in with Amex platinum for my wife’s birthday. Appreciate the staff going out of their way for us. Being able to walk anywhere in Yountville is special. Looking forward to getting back!

The hotel is beautiful but did not feel like a luxury experience. By 9am the coffee and pastries were gone and we had to wait 30min for more coffee. The sheets were stained and housekeeping was apologetic but the front desk was not.

Yelp
Stayed for 1 week. It's a small boutique high end hotel. Very spacious room and bathroom with huge jacuzzi.. I like their art collections displayed in the hotel. Location is the best in the heart of Yountville. Wish it's a little bit bigger resort..

Yelp
Spent Thanksgiving 2023 at Bardessono and what a treat it was. After staying at a good number of hotels in CA wine country, The Lodge at Sonoma, Indian Springs, MacArthur Place, and Ledson Hotel, I think Bardessono is my favorite. I think the combination of the pure modern design set in nature and exceptional service set it apart from other hotel experiences. From the reception area, to the valet, to the room service, and grounds, everyone you encounter is warm and friendly. My favorite parts of the room were the incredibly comfortable king bed and the large bathroom and tub with jacuzzi jets. Pros: Modern and relaxing hotel experience, exceptional service, and top notch rooms. Cons: NA

Yelp
4.5 STARS So...THIS is how the 1% live?! Sign me up! Staying at Bardessono was a very rare splurge because it's chaaa-chiiiing. If you don't blink an eye at $1k+/night accommodations, adopt me please...I come with a furry chick magnet! ;) Opening in 2009, Bardessono is gorgeous luxe resort in the heart of Yountville. They have 62 rooms and suites. And, are DOG-FRIENDLY! P R I C E S During off-season, rooms start at about $950/night and during peak season on weekends, they start at about $1800/night. $68 destination fee per night. Pet-fee: $200/stay. I took advantage of their spring deal and for two nights ($1010/night), it was about $2,684 after tax, fees, and pet fee. T H E G R O U N D S LOVE! The grounds were serene and picturesque with various gardens and calming water fountains throughout the property: https://tinyurl.com/42x2eduu. And, it's a short walk to the creek. C E N T R A L L O C A T I O N Walking distance to ALL the eateries and restos in Yountville - Addendum, Ad Hoc, Bistro Jeanty, Bottega, Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery, Model Bakery, The French Laundry, RH Restaurant, R + D Kitchen, North Block, etc. TIP: If you're over bougie food, hit up Tacos Garcia Taco Truck that's about a 10-12 minute walk (across from North Block Hotel). Hello, $3 lengua and cabeza tacos! S U I T E King & Queen Spa Suite - link to video clip: https://tinyurl.com/yc4t5za7 (+) THE TUB! The huge jacuzzi tub was AHHHMAZING: https://tinyurl.com/yn9uvfjs. (+) Large 750 sq feet room with one king and one queen bed: https://tinyurl.com/28vyrfc2. (+) Two TVs. (+) Firm bed and plushy pillows. (+) Huge bathroom. (+) Private courtyard: https://tinyurl.com/9knhdhbm. (+) Peaceful...the only noise I heard were birds chirping. (+) Mini-fridge stocked w/ boxed water, boylan cola, yerba mate, and snacks like yummy salt & vinegar almonds: https://tinyurl.com/yr9bfc2x. In-room Nepresso machine and a bottle of Duckhorn wine was provided. (-) I could tell it was a *pet friendly* room from the smell of the cleaning products. (-) There's a curtain that separates the king and queen bed. Seems makeshift and tacky...like something you would do at a frat house. (-) No fan in the bathroom and the windows didn't open so it became a hot sauna after taking a shower/bath. (-) Weak shower pressure. (-) One tiny clock in the entire suite, no clock in the bathroom. (-) I know this is nitpicky but the appliances are the same ones you find at a $ hotel; i.e. Conair Cord Keeper. P O O L / G Y M Beautiful rooftop pool and hot tub with private cabanas: https://tinyurl.com/4bbkchs9. The gym is also on the rooftop with treadmills, ellipticals, peloton bikes, and weights: https://tinyurl.com/awzcs55d. S P A I didn't partake but there's a spa center or you can enjoy a massage in your room. 50-minute facials and massages start at $225 for 50 minutes. Private yoga and guided meditation sessions available. 21% service charge. D I N I N G Lucy's Restaurant on-site that provides complimentary coffee, tea, yogurt, and fruit cups to hotel guests: https://tinyurl.com/ymtm83bs. With Bouchon Bakery up the block, it's disappointing that they don't offer pastries from there. We didn't dine at Lucy's but they had a dog menu which I ordered room service: https://tinyurl.com/2wwwn9px. S E R V I C E 5+ star service from all the onsite staff - from Nick at the concierge (he was awesome!), the valets, housekeeper, etc. Everyone was genuinely friendly and eager to help. I'm not sure if their reservation line is outsourced but the two staff I spoke with on the phone could use better customer service skills. One was curt and the other was insistent that the pet fee was $200 per day when the website states, it's $200 per stay. D O G - F R I E N D L I N E S S VERY dog-friendly. Dog bed, dog bowls, and boxed water provided. Dog menu at Lucy's. P A R K I N G Complimentary valet parking. Overall, I loved my stay at Bardessono! Gorgeous grounds, wonderful service, and dog-friendliness but for $1k+/night, the suite fell short of expectations so rounding down to 4 stars.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with a resort get away feel. The staff is attentive and kind and turn down service couldn't be any more perfect. There is beautiful art placed around the property offering a truly modern yet warm enviorment. The property also holds a garden you can walk through where they grow veggies and fruits they use in their restaurant Lucy. Just when you think you're sold, the resort offers complementary Lexus vehicles for use at 4 hours at a time with first come first serve availability. I couldn't imagine coming to Yountville and staying anywhere else!

Yelp
Echoing what other reviewers have said: LUXURY and TRANQUILITY! We splurged on a weekend staycation to celebrate a very special occasion, and we can't wait to return! Located right in the heart of downtown Yountville, the setting is spa-like with fountains and greenery and sculptures all around the property. The hotel is a super short walk from a number of fabulous wine tasting rooms and eateries (including French Laundry, Bottega, La Calenda (across the street)....) Our room had an indoor steam shower and outdoor shower, as well as an outdoor tub (we ended up in an ADA room and I think the outdoor tub is unique to that room...what a treat!). We made use of all three bathing options, as well as the fitness center, pool, and hot tub. The resort/destination fee is $68/rm/night, and we feel like we got our money's worth. It includes a bunch of amenities: -welcome glass of wine at check-in -complimentary valet parking -complimentary in room refreshment center stocked daily (water, iced tea, soda...) -in-room snacks (think nuts, trail mix) -morning coffee and breakfast bites (pastries, yogurts, fruit) in Lucy Lounge -wifi throughout property -fitness center access - (the fitness center is a small but sufficient open-air tented space on the pool roofdeck) -bottled water -pool & hot tub access Staff are warm and genuinely welcoming. What an incredibly memorable stay!

Yelp
Bardessono was THE BEST hotel experience. I don't say this lightly, but everything was utter perfection at this hotel. In fact, I don't know how they could've done any better, everything from the room, to the service, to the cleanliness and the bottle of wine that was given to us for my birthday was just so thoughtful, and did I mention the location is perfect to walk everywhere in Yountville? The minute we pulled up, they addressed us by our names, and made us feel very welcome. My husband had a bike that he had to reassemble while we were unloading, and they not only waited patiently and assisted, but they had wet towels ready for him to wipe his hands when he was done. This was all in the first 10 minutes of us being there! Jordan was the front desk manager (I think), and he welcomed us with a glass of wine and Jennifer led us to our room. I don't know if all the rooms are set up like this, but our room had its own stairwell and there was no room below or above us. The room was good size with bathroom just as spacious as the bedroom. The room had automatic shades, fireplace, and a refrigerator with complimentary water/soft drinks that were refilled daily. Seriously, they thought of everything. We were there for 2 nights, and I could've stayed forever. We walked everywhere, and if you don't want to, they have complimentary hotel shuttle available. The decor is upscale chic, but understated, not flashy. Every time we were out of our room, the valet guys addressed us by our names, and everyone at the hotel was super friendly. Special shoutout to Enrique, who made sure my husband got his bike anytime, and helped us with loading of our luggage and disassembling of the bicycle when we were leaving. This hotel is expensive, but worth every penny. Having just stayed at Laguna Niguel Ritz Carleton and how bad their service was, I appreciated this experience even more. I seriously can not wait come back and stay here. If you want to feel like a million bucks and get rejuvenated in a quiet, serene environment with top tier restaurants available within blocks, this hotel is for you. Enjoy!

Yelp
It's a shame that a property this beautiful has such problems with the simple things. Timing of service and food service. 3 days in a row, our room was unserviced. Temps in the restaurant were cool after waiting 2.5 hours for food to arrive. Breakfast meats were uncooked on parts and cooked on others. People across the board have to ask for simple things like salt, pepper and refills on their coffees. Guests are also asked to wait 5-10 minutes to sit at the restaurant even with over 10 empty tables. It's fine to say "we're fully booked the guests haven't arrived yet" but when the restaurant is completely empty both inside and out, it's silly to ask people to wait. A guest of our party altered their stay and added 2 nights. They were called at noon and literally asked why they hadn't left the property yet. It's a mess and it's too expensive for that.

Yelp
We stayed here at the end of June for a wedding & all I can say is..wow. This hotel is the perfect mix of privacy, opulence & community. The SECOND we stepped out of our car we were greeted by the sweetest concierge member who assisted us to our rooms. This member saw us struggling to use the Turo App for our car & suggested the Heitz Cellar Vineyard to Bottle Package. I am soo happy we upgraded (I mean it comes with a complimentary car..how could one say no?!) as it allowed us to spend more time at this beautiful property. We arrived to the pool at 11 am everyday during our stay and there were no more than 5 people. Though at the time I of our stay I was limiting my caffeine intake, they do offer coffee and pastries in the morning at the pool..such a nice touch! I was completely unaware of the price of this hotel until this review & can say that it is most DEFINITELY worth the money.

Yelp
After the pandemic brought our plans for my mother's 50th birthday to a halt, Bardessono provided a fresh escape for the celebration. We booked the Jasper Villa and it definitely took our mind off Hawaii. From the outdoor patio and wet bar with wine fridge & complimentary refreshments to the private cocktail pool and earth infused decor throughout, the amenities and personalized services made our stay here one to remember. Definitely look forward to returning and creating more memories with family and friends.

Yelp
Luxury meets Napa style - simply top notch. Despite all the money in this area, there are still a dearth of luxury properties at which to stay. The vibe here is mellow, relaxed, and high end. Staff and management is highly professional, and you actually get turn down service, complete with chocolates on the pillow. We had a "suite," which was large and comfortable, with a jacuzzi tub, outdoor shower, and even an indoor steam shower. The property is gorgeous, oozing a quiet, simple elegance. Definitely will return!

Yelp
This hotel & spa property earned its five stars! I want to give it a 6th! The staff were so lovely and accommodating, and the images online really resemble the room tip for tap corner for a corner. A few things that make Bardessono hotel & spa stand out from the rest: - The Lexus that shuttles you around the city of Yountville is an absolute game-changer. You need to make it to a reservation at Restoration Hardware or maybe get a few more toiletries to your liking at the local market! No problem Bardessono has you covered to and from! - The Lucy restaurant is a complete tasting experience as the menu is elaborate enough to please a group with different perspectives on preferences. - The bathroom in the king suite is so huge! I loved the steam shower and the outdoor shower! I made time to use both! The bathroom in the King Spa Suite gives you the experience of having a spa right in your hotel room! - The pool cabanas are relaxing, lush, and comfortable! The jacuzzi was great! I am not sure if the pool is heated, but the water was well set as the sun would blaze during the early/ late afternoon. This was my first time experiencing staying in Yountville; I recommend booking a stay! Be careful booking the king spa suite. You might not ever want to leave! ; )

Yelp
This hotel, the service, the grounds, and the exceptional customer service are hands down what makes this one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. From arrival to check out, every staff member who approached us or interacted with us was phenomenal. Going out of their way to make us feel welcome and doing whatever they could to help us enjoy our stay. We had our daughter with us, and they were so kind to her as well-even with some screaming at breakfast and climbing on tables in the bar area (don't worry-we did ask her to sit on the couch instead of climb-but toddlers..what can I say!) Not once were they upset or rude or snobby. I asked for a non alcoholic drink at check in and the bartender and staff delivered-they even asked me what type of drink I preferred. Like come on?! Is this for real?! Honestly 15/10. Also their menu offers a kids menu which is super nice and convenient when bringing kids here. The hotel is in walking distance to amazing food locations in Yountville. Each day we were here we loved walking around and exploring more of Yountville! One day we made reservations for dinner and it was super cold, we asked if the staff could drop us off and pick us up, without hesitation they asked when we would like to go. I would 10000% recommend Bardessono when staying in Napa. I personally don't think I could stay anywhere else. Genuine hospitality. Beautiful grounds, amazing staff, great food options, beautiful rooms, and the steam showers are amazing!! Look no further and book your stay here-you won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
One of the nicest and elegant hotels to stay at. I always eat breakfast/brunch here and the mimosas and food is excellent. From the valets, chef, front desk everyone is pleasant. It's gorgeous property it's a must place to visit.

Yelp
I was thinking about buying a weekend home in Yountville, CA but hands down a person cannot do better than this fabulous, incredibly beautiful and meticulous, resort-like hotel. The staff makes this place not only professional, but also homey & lovely & personable & gracious & sweet, kind....You can't be here without having a fun time interacting with everyone from the valets to the front desk, the restaurant staff- housekeeping, front of the house to the back. They are beyond dog friendly and my Rosie was welcomed with treats, bedding, a BARKessono menu for her to choose from daily. Lots of petting galore and she was so relaxed and happy. I could go on and on- Oh wait, I did already...Oh well... You simply can't go wrong spending time here in the middle of this stunning walk-to-everything place!

Yelp
HEAVEN ON EARTH. There is no better place to stay in the entire Napa/Sonoma area. Hands down the best hotel experience I've ever had. We stay in hotels around the world and this was a top tier experience. From check-in, to roofotpoolside relaxation, to champagne tub soak, phenomenal massages in the comfort of our own room, watching the stars in our private patio garden area, the sanctuary-like atmosphere, the BEYONDDD EXCEPTIONAL STAFF, each and every detail was anticipated and carried out to perfection. We are so grateful to have found this place - what an absolute treat! 12/10 experience, we have already booked our return stay! Special kudos to Matt the Concierge, he worked magic to get us in some of the top vineyards in the area on SAME DAY NOTICE which is literally IMPOSSIBLE in the Napa area. We owe a great deal of our experience to his diligent work and hard-earned connections.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Bardessono for our anniversary. I know we are in COVID times but it was nothing special. Staff was cordial. The food from Lucy was average. Very limited menu as well. Our stay was not worth the money for sure.

Yelp
I normally don't spend this much on hotels, but after staying home for almost a year, we decided to treat ourselves and stay at a nice hotel for couple days as staycation with our dog. Bardessono was recommended by a friend who comes to Napa area quite often and have stayed at a lot of nice hotels. And I would say it totally worth it. Location: 5 mins walk to Ad Hoc, TFL, Bottega, Bouchon. 10 mins walk to RH and R+D. There are multiple wine tasting nearby. Service: service was top of the line. Valet parking all the time, wine upon arriving, a bottle of wine in the room, provide bottled water and coke, also they will provide dog bed and dog bowls if you bring four leg family member. Everyone was super nice. Room: spacious and beautiful! I loved the bathtub with view, even though the window was big but there's still privacy. There's a big balcony too with chairs that's you can nap and sunbathing. Food: we didn't order food from Lucy since we went out for every meal. But the croissant from complimentary breakfast was quite buttery. The restaurant has beautiful decor though, saw couple groups went to Lucy just for dinner. This hotel is very well designed. There are 4-5 courtyards each with a different name and artwork. If I come to Yountville, will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Bardessono has a five star location. It's super close to the hot spot restaurant's and very walkable. Staff was friendly and very accommodating to our little dog. The hotel falls short on cleanliness and ongoing maintenance to the property. I'm sure in 2009 when the hotel was established it was gorgeous. My wife and I noticed several things that were unsatisfactory. Shower was moldy, floors were dirty, toilet was not properly mounted to the floor, edge of the pool is moldy and rusty(another group of ladies were commenting on where to sit because of how dirty the pool was), properties furniture is old, dryer sheets floating in the fountains. Overall the stay was average but feel the $1600/night price tag is not justified.

Yelp
Figuring out which hotel to stay at is one of my favorite parts of planning a vacation. Napa Valley has several options but we decided to stay bardessno. It is conveniently located in Yountvile within walking distance from some of the best restaurants such as French Laundry, Bottega and Bouchon bakery. A lot of the wineries are also within a few miles of the resort. The suite was large and modern. We were able to control everything with an iPad. The breakfast had several healthy options with local ingredients and taste amazing. We also tried out the couple's spa treatment on our final day and it did not disappoint.

Yelp
We stayed here for our Honeymoon getaway during COVID times, and thoroughly enjoyed it! Upon arriving, we were welcomed in the lobby with two glasses of sparkling wine. Since it was our honeymoon, the room came with a complimentary bottle of Mumm sparkling wine and a nicely arranged tray of sweets! It was very thoughtful that they provided this. The rooms were very spacious, modern, clean, and quiet. It came with a patio, which was nice to enjoy a private breakfast outside. And I absolutely loved the huge tub with air jets! During our entire stay, we felt safe and all staff were wearing masks. When valet retrieved our car, they would put a plastic cover over the seat and steering wheel to make sure it was germ free for when we got back into the car. We greatly appreciated every effort the staff made to maintain cleanliness & safety during these times! It is located in the heart of downtown Yountville, but not on the Main Street. It's right behind Bouchon Bakery, so we'd walk there to pick up breakfast daily! It's also not a far walk from the French Laundry, Restoration Hardware restaurant, etc. It is close to many wineries, driving distance! Since all wineries required appointments during COVID, it was nice that we were close enough to drive back to our hotel to relax before the next tasting. Also, they give out complimentary water bottles so I was able to stay hydrated during wine tastings. I'd highly recommend staying at Bardessono! The staff, service, and rooms were beyond wonderful! So happy we stayed here for our honeymoon!

Yelp
This was my FAVORITE hotel in Napa, went on couple date nights here and had a blast! Food impeccable, wine strong, pool views and cucumber martinis had me on cloud 9; can't wait to see you for autumn foliage solo this year!!! I hope mini dachshunds are allowed

Yelp
Absoloutely a must stay! We were deciding between this place and the new Four Seasons on Silverado, and this was hands down the better option. 1. The rooms were fantastic! Byikt for in room spa services offered extra space in the room. The outdoor space was lovely and felt peacefull, with an relaxing video. The design direction was upscale at it's finest level. The steam option in the shower was exceptional. The double sinks, the deep sinking tib, the extra closet space was perfection. The Fridge full of your favorite drinks, nuts, etc. 2. The service was top notch as a Four Seasons similar to a Four Seasons. They were accommodating in everyway. Whatever we need blankets, food, chargers, medicines they had it. 3. The grounds were full of lush greenery and warm tones you felt like you were in a private oasis. 4. The restaurants on site served meals of perfection. The menu was just right offering dishes for each type of diet. The waitress knowledgeable freindly and made you want to stay as long as you could. The Morning breakfast and coffee were complimentary, delicious and filling. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the Spa. We just didn't have the time. I recommend staying here! Or dinning at their restaurants.

Yelp
Great experience! I absolutely love that this hotel is eco-conscious and exudes modern elegance. Our Steam Spa Suite was spacious and accommodating and the grounds were tastefully designed with various rock and metal art installations, native plants, and water features on display. The service was excellent - everyone we interfaced with was friendly from start to finish. The food at Lucy was also delicious. We just ordered appetizers for dinner to get a wide range of offerings, and we loved their burrata, arancini, and caesar and beet salads (portions were on the larger side). While we did not bring our son with us (thanks Grandparents!), it did seem like a fairly family friendly place based on the other couples we saw with younger children. We took long morning and evening strolls around town (it's centrally located) and when it was ready to return back to our home, we were able to leave in our fully charged EV (since they have multiple stations). Thanks to everyone for making our stay a great one!

Yelp
Bardessono is the kind of place you'll look back on and compare every other hotel experience. Located right in the heart of Yountville, the location doesn't get much better. In fact, we literally walked to our dinner reservation at The French Laundry. The place was designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible with a wide range of 'green' elements including heating and cooling via geothermal energy, material reuse, low water use and LED and fluorescent lighting. On top of that, the place gets about half of its electricity from a solar system discreetly mounted and concealed atop the hotel's flat-topped roofs. But comfort isn't sacrificed. Rooms top out around $1,500 a night. The night we stayed here there was a major earthquake. Yikes! But if you're going to be anywhere during the big one, this is where you'll want to stay. The entire place is designed to withstand even the biggest jolt. While other places had significant damage, Bardessono held up strong. Well, sadly maybe not the wine. But everything else did. The service is top notch. My husband worked directly with their concierge who not only got us a prime reservation at The French Laundry, but the EXACT time we wanted. That service alone would have made a trip here worth it. They have bikes on site you're welcome to ride and explore. We've been fortunate to stay at a lot of incredible hotels, but I still think Bardessono is on another level. Now I just need to think of another big celebration or birthday to get us back up here again!

Yelp
What a hotel! If you're cool with spending a pretty penny for accommodations In yountville, Bardessono is a great option. Top notch service, modern rooms and all the amenities you need make this place an easy five star review. I'd stayed at this property one time before but, it had been a while so was nice to be back. I checked in last weekend for a friends wedding and was promptly greeted by the friendly valet team who got me sorted quick. My room was beautiful, complete with an outdoor shower, steam room and a big comfortable bed. The layout of the room is really great as the main room and bathroom are separated by a small hallway and makes for a nice separation. The resort itself is pretty stunning and the vibe is very relaxing. The pool is located upstairs where there's a small workout facility complete with a couple peloton bikes. Excellent hotel in town when you want to ball out!

Yelp
It really makes me sad to write this review but I thinks it's important all guests know of the blatant incompetence of this hotel. I was planning a one day getaway for my husbands birthday and I decided on Napa. I looked up luxury hotels and booked this hotel immediately. The next day ( last week) I called twice and left a message with the concierge and no return call. I called again yesterday and then today and all I wanted was to order some items to the room to surprise my husband. I am in the hospitality industry and if I didn't call clients back I would probably not sustain my business. When you are paying 2k plus to stay at a luxury hotel there is a level a service that is expected and this hotel sadly doesn't have it. Everyone is just too busy to assist. I canceled my reservation and now I am staying at the montage, with incredible service and high end luxury level responses from their team. Moral of the story not worth it! See ya

Yelp
Wow, amazing service from start to end. We felt so welcomed, appreciated, and well taken care of during our stay. As soon as you pull in, you're greeted by a nice valet employee (no self parking). At check in, they open a bottle of red wine and serve you a glass per person while they give you a private tour of the hotel property then to your room. With your permission, the host even shows you around your hotel room and its functions. That was really nice. Room: We booked the Spa Suite, but they kindly upgraded us to the steam suite (room with a steam shower) at check in! The room included a gas fireplace, sitting area, outdoor patio with automatic shutters/blinds, champagne bathtub, steam shower, and an outdoor shower. They even provide you a complimentary bottle of red wine for you to enjoy!! (Same wine at check in that's actually good)! Amenities: The hotel amenities were just above our room. We were able to use the swimming pool, hot tub, and outdoor gym. They also have nice day beds around the pool. Everything felt very clean (including the gym). This hotel also provides free bikes for you to use! The bikes have a little front pouch for you to store your phone, wallet, keys, etc. We biked around the city/downtown area around sunset and it was awesome & so relaxing! They ask you if you have dinner plans and let you know they provide a free chauffeur service to and from dinner! We felt so special and loved their services. Spa/Massage: We tried the couple's massage at the hotel and loved it. It felt clean and safe. They also provide you a mask for the massage. The ladies were very nice, professional, and accommodating. Overall, this is a pricier hotel, but worth the experience. If you're looking for a little getaway in this area, I highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
My husband and I took a trip to Yountville to celebrate his birthday this week. While we had an amazing time in the wine country, our attempt to eat breakfast at Lucy's restaurant at Bardessono was a complete and utter disappointment. We arrived around 1115 am. There was no one at restaurant reception but we were told by the bartender, who was busy with another patron, that the restaurant would reopen at 11:30 am. We thanked him and stated we would return at that time. We decided to pay a quick visit to our favorite bakery, Bouchon's, to grab a few pastries and their amazing fuhgeddaboudits (if you haven't tried one or two, you 'gotta!), until Lucy's reopened. We returned to Lucy's around 11:35 and approached restaurant reception. We told the attendant we would like a table for 2. He then looked down (presumably at the available openings) and asked, "are you guests at the hotel?". To which we responded "no". He then asked if we had a reservation, to which we responded, "no". He then looked at me, rolled his eyes and said "let me see if our staff wants to serve you". He then went towards the direction of the restaurant (which was presently empty, by the way). My husband and I waited... and waited... and waited........ Finally another gentleman asked if we were being helped as he fidgeted with the menus. I responded, "a wait staff told us he was going to see if they wanted to serve us". The gentleman then said, "yes, he is taking care of you". At which time, we continued to wait...and wait... and wait. As I looked around, it appeared my husband and I were the only african-american individuals in or outside the Bardessono establishment - both the first and second time we came in. I say this, because for the first time during our many visits to Naps over the last 15 years, I have NEVER felt this disrespected both verbally (see comment above "let me see if they want to serve you") and physically (again, see comment above regarding eye roll). We have traveled the world, stayed and dined at 5star and Michelin hotels and restaurants, respectively and have never been made to feel this uncomfortable or offended! Finally, the attendant returned to let us know, they could not "serve [sic] us inside the restaurant" (did I mention it was completely empty) and then dismissively motioned to the also empty bar and said, "but you can eat at the bar". We told him thank you and left! As we walked outside, the extremely nice valets and other workers, smiled and greeted us hello and goodbye. I was floored by the attendant's comments, demeanor and behavior. If they had no available tables or they were short staffed due to COVID and not taking walk-ins, we would have completely understood. If they were only seating reservations, I assume we would have been told by either the bartender who we spoke to at first, or the rude, dismissive attendant, or the gentleman who was fidgeting with the menus, but we were told nothing of the sort! But to witness the eye roll, and hear the comment, "...see if they want to serve you" was patently unprofessional, disrespectful and rude! When does wait staff decide who they will and will not serve???? More importantly, what does that mean, "let me see if the staff want to serve you"? The ironic part in all of this was that we had been looking at this hotel to see if we were going to stay here for our anniversary in August considering it is down the street from the French Laundry - which is where we will be dining, again in August. I thought, this would be our opportunity to take a look around and sample the hotel, its customer service and resident restaurant. I am sorry to say, I refuse to patronize an establishment that treats people the way my husband and I were treated earlier this week. I do not expect any communication from the hotel or its management and assume this review will be treated as dismissively as my husband and I were earlier this week. I write this review in hopes that this never, ever happens to another person of color - or anyone else for that matter. Should management truly care about the treatment their staff extends to those who enter their establishment, I pray that their response does not justify, rationalize or excuse or passively defend such behavior by mentioning the fact that Bardessono was "voted #1 for best food and wine resort" as she did in another bad review on this site...that too, Ma'am is offensive and fails to acknowledge and address the problem at hand. If the service that was responsible for obtaining that accolade is not consistent, the award is meaningless and your mentioning same in response to a bad review, nothing more than deflection... I would have written this review immediately after we left, but if I am being honest, in hindsight, I realize I was actually more emotionally and hurt than offended and angry. Bardessono, if you are listening, care (even a little bit) and paying attention...DO BETTER!

Yelp
Excellent as always. We were one of the first guest when this wonderful hotel opened and eat at Lucy's often. Excellent service, food and setting. Yesterday we did wine tasting in the gardens and the staff and selection excellent. Favorable mention to Frederick Boelen of La Cave Wines, he explained the selections to perfection. Also the rep from Duckhorn was also super helpful

Yelp
What a great spot! Don't the fires scare you. Yountville was great this past weekend with beautiful blue skies and no smoke in the air. The hotel could not have been better. Great service at every turn, and a beautiful property. Very private room, with nice outdoor space. The bar has GREAT cocktails. I booked through Amex fine resorts which lessens the blow of the bourbon prices (one was $30 and one was $50). Amex fine hotel and resorts offers $125 food and beverage credit and free breakfast every day (plus early check-in, late check-out). Couldn't have felt safer with the cleanliness and social distancing. Concierge set up some local wine tastings, and we did them on bikes provided by the hotel. Don't wait, come now and be sure to tip ALL the staff as its been a tough fall for all these hard working people.

Yelp
We went here for a little getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We were looking into different places to stay at but this caught my eye due to the location and the look. We had an amazing stay. One of the top places we've been into. As we pulled up at around 11am (check in is at 4pm) they were able to accommodate our early check in request. After checking in we were given a tour of the property and the gentlemen even showed us the features of the room and such. The concierge was excellent, as they had ordered a dozen roses and had it placed in the room already before we arrived. Getting to the room the flowers was waiting for my wife! The massage that we got was wonderful and much needed. So glad that they were offering massage services. We even got to use their Lexus fleet for a drive around the valley, we were given the Lexus LC to drive around and it was a great time driving that car to different wineries. We had dinner at Lucy and the food was delicious. While at dinner, the house keeping did a turn down service for us and put rose petals around the room and had sparkling wine and chocolates waiting for us back in the room. The turn down service was pre arranged with their excellent concierge team. We also used their bikes to go cruising around town for a couple hours. We had a wonderful stay and love the place and the service was top notch even during these trying times with Covid.

Yelp
What a beautiful place to stay to say the least!! We were met at the door with wine. They make you feel special and go the extra mile. There was wine and a chocolate plate in our room for us. This was such a romantic Valentine's Day. The water displays outside are so nice and the grounds are beautiful with magnolia trees everywhere. The restaurant was so good we had to try everything! Ended the night in a bubble bath for two in out large spa tub in our room. The pool area had nice lil cabanas for shade. My only wish was to have stayed longer, but we will be back!

Yelp
TRANQUILITY. Every time we go, we love this place even more. What's not to love being in Yountville. The food at Lucy's is delightful, as always. The property gorgeous. The outdoor soaking tub, with each suite is divine. The service, unparalleled. The beds, insanely comfy. The views, breathtaking. The whole experience is always an A+. Never have we not had a great time. Grateful to the kind humans that work there. What a joy they are, and how they go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful time. Please try this beautiful venue at your first opportunity. They set the bar high, and there is a reason we keep coming back

Yelp
We want to thank you for providing your with the best service ever! The concierge called us and set up a private Grooming for their guests and they were thrilled! Bardessono goes above and beyond to cater to their guests! Especially those with fury family members. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to provide world-class service from the comfort of their room. We will definitely be spreading the word and you look forward to doing future business with you

Yelp
It's great to see familiar faces again at Bardessono, specially because we come here at least twice a month. The service had some ups and downs before but it is back to be 5 stars through and through once again. Lucy restaurant is still very near and dear to our heart. We make sure we have at least one meal here each time we visit. The hotel itself is modern and gorgeous. A few minor changes have been done to the decor but everything is still unique and beautiful. The rooms are spacious and lovely and the service is top notch. P.s Herlinda is our favorite server specially when we visit the pool.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place enough! The vibe is so zen and relaxing with the rotating art work they have around the property and calm sounds of the water fountains. My favorite place to stay when visiting Yountville. I stayed here on Valentine's Day since we were dining at the French laundry down the street. We had in room massages that were wonderful. Breakfast at Lucy's inside bardessono was delicious. Hanging out after dinner at the fire pit outside was so relaxing, sipping martinis and having good conversation at such a relaxing beautiful environment was great. The rooms are gorgeous! Trendy, green eco friendly, modern vibe with giant soaker jet tubs! I brought bath bombs to relax. My husband had the concierge arrange a gorgeous bouquet of flowers to be delivered to the room, from driving up to the property to checking out, I was impressed!

Yelp
First, I want to say that we have been regular customers for over 5 years. Being from the East Bay, we are just an hour away have been staying at the hotel at least 3-4 weekends per year. We went in August of 2016, rates for our regular room were a little higher than the time before, $822 with taxes and fees (loyalty rate). We booked 2 massages, we waited till 2pm and went to the spa only to find they double booked so we were out of luck. We don't go to Lucy's much anymore, the food just isn't that good. We loved the staff and all out regular folks like Nick the Valet. We went back in February 2017, rates went up a bit and a few new faces. We heard the new owners were making some changes, we didn't see too much. They did give us 2 free massages due to February's mistake. Otherwise, good trip. We just got back home tonight from another weekend and I have to say, I'm still in shock. First, room rates jumped to over $1200 per night, almost a 50% increase in 9 months. When we booked, we requested and were promised our usual room, 412. When we arrived, we were told it was not available, we were given 411. We also requested a 2:30 check in.... room was not ready until 4:30. ALL the staff we have known and loved were gone.... all of them. Even the GM.... we knew this must be bad. The rooms are showing some wear and tear... new door locks were installed and are smaller so you see the old worn out doors. I tried to call the front desk so see about the house car but the wireless phone was dead, had to call on the speaker phone. All the snacks were gone from the room now and still no in room coffee machine. There was a large wedding group that seemed to take over the property. Saturday night they were at the outdoor lobby making noise till after midnight. I called front desk, nothing changed... they were making money so why stop the party. On Sunday we went to the pool to relax before checkout and drive home.... group of 25 people were partying it up, even had there own music going.... not relaxing at all. Bottom line, it was reasonable at $600-$700, however at over $1200 now, I am afraid we likely won't be going back. I feel the new owners (Ashford) a REIT, really don't care about the guests or staff, only the bottom line. They will soon see that with the market cooling, they will miss the loyal guests like us who regularly visit and recommend to friends. Hopefully someone from the REIT reads this and gets back to me, I'd love to share more details and ideas on how they can keep loyal paying customers. There are unlimited choices all over for less than $1200, trust me. Many new hotels also going up in the area. Again, $600-$700 a night, worth it when the staff and service was amazing. Now, with all new staff from top to bottom AND $1200 per night, you can find better. Hopefully they pull out of this tail spin....

Yelp
I had a really nice stay here. This boutique has a fast and efficient shuttle to take you everywhere around town so you don't have to have a DD. The free breakfast here is tolerable with a few pastries and some fruit. I got a massage that was not bad - not the best but fairly good especially during the coronapocalypse. There are some amazing restaurants close by. The room was pretty clean. The hot tub and pool here were empty so it was amazing as it felt like a private space.

Yelp
Wife and I chose Bardessono as our home base for a nice extended weekend in Napa. The staff here is very friendly and the grounds are beautiful, however, the room and amenities are low value. At $1500/night we had higher expectations for the quality of the room. There is much wear and tear, we actually became trapped in our bathroom because the sliding door came off the hinge. After forcing it open and making a request to have it fixed it is still off the hinge as we are checking out (3 days later). I have had far better breakfast and room amenities at cheap airport hotels. We will not be returning.

Yelp
This is not a leading hotel of the world. Don't know if the floors are stained or dirty in the hotel rooms. It's a dark gray tile very cold and most of the tile looks stained or dirty. The pillows on the bed are very uncomfortable and flat. Bartenders are not very friendly they act like they are doing us a favor by serving us a drink. The valet staff and people who checked us in were very nice and friendly. The cheese plate we ordered as an appetizer was horrible. We are in the heart of Napa and there was nothing spectacular about it and it did not come with barely anything. Bathroom amenities were not of those that you would expect at a leading hotel.
