Where to Buy Beyond Burgers, the Hottest Plant-Based Burger In Stores | Eater

"Serves the Beyond Burger, a widely praised plant-based patty that aims to mimic beef by braiding proteins, fats, and minerals for a meat-like texture. The patties blend in coconut oil and potato starch for juiciness and use a touch of beet juice to give a red, medium-rare appearance; they hold together without crumbling, deliver about 20 grams of pea-based protein, contain less saturated fat than traditional beef, and are free of GMOs, soy, and gluten. Quick to cook (roughly three minutes per side) and popular with both vegetarians and meat-eaters, the offering is presented as a satisfying, lower-impact alternative to red meat." - Vox Creative

Absolutely loved our visit to Bareburger! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food came out quickly and hot, and everything we ordered was of excellent quality. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is warm and inviting – a perfect spot to enjoy a great meal. One of the highlights for me was the wide variety of delicious vegan options available – it's not always easy to find such a thoughtful and tasty plant-based selection. Payment in cash took a bit longer to process, but it was handled smoothly in the end. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend!

Google
In a city where there are so many legendary burger joints, Bareburger is a standout. I really love their burger options, and every single thing I’ve ever had here has been excellent. On this occasion I had the Supreme, which is a double patty (organic), uncured bacon, chopped fries, etc. The combo of ingredients are superb. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and very filling. The onion rings that came with it were also very good. The space is nice and the vibe always good. Service is personal and professional. I live two blocks away and I dine on Restaurant Row every now and again, and Bareburger is one of my favorites. Strongly recommended!

Had a great experience at Bareburger on 46th St! Our server was absolutely fantastic — super polite, accommodating, and genuinely friendly to everyone, including my 5-year-old granddaughter. She even gave her crayons to keep her entertained, which was such a thoughtful touch. While the food itself was pretty forgettable and they surprisingly didn’t serve coffee during brunch, the warmth and professionalism of the service more than made up for it. It’s rare to feel so genuinely welcomed — I’d go back just for the outstanding hospitality!

Google
Very good range of options and very customisable burgers. Great gluten free range including fried pickles and fried chicken. All burgers are available with a gluten free bun. Would recommend.

Google
The Burgers are made with love and quality ingredients. This no frills burger spot has lots of choices and there is lots of room though it may fell tight. Check it out on historic restaurant row. Update - I tried the cheesesteak (made with Pat LaFreda meat) and it was OK. I wouldn’t recommend the cheesesteak unfortunately.

The place was beautiful and welcoming, the waiter was very nice and helped us with our order, since he knew a little of italian. The food was great, and there were plenty gluten free options. We had a great time!

Google
We had a larger group, and they accommodated us relatively quickly. They had a great variety of vegan and meat options. Some of our party got the elkasaurus burger, and they said it was incredible. I got the black bean and it was very flavorful. The gentleman at the front was super helpful and seemed to be everywhere thumbs up to him.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of Bareburger and I'm glad this one in the Theatre District is still around, though their hours still aren't as late as they were pre-pandemi. Some friends and I went recently after a show. The highlights were the excellent fries and this tropical dessert, which was refreshing but also had a little kick courtesy of the spiced up pineapples. Friendly service as well.

Yelp
Went for dinner with my sister on a Saturday night and the place was busy but the noise level was not bad. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was good. I had a standard burger and side salad with an unsweetened ice tea. Oh, the side salad came with a very garlicky dressing which was good.

Yelp
Was in NYC last night for a show so we decided to stop in to @bareburger and grab a nice casual dinner before the show. This was a quick 2-3 block walk from our parking garage (which was near the show). I will start out saying the space was nice (and kind of dark which I often prefer) and the servers were very nice and helpful. I went with the "Sweet Bison Blues" and Onion rings. The burger had great flavor but by the end I was slightly overwhelmed with the bleu cheese. Onion rings were really crispy and had good flavor to them. I stole a bite of an "Elkasaurus" at the table as well and I believe that burger was seriously delicious. I naturally highjacked a couple fries as well and I loved the thickness and cook on them and that they were just a bland potato on a plate. I would confidently say all of the food surpassed my expectations going in. Unfortunately the old fashioned was not great. I have no issues whatsoever paying for a $14 drink if it's a great drink. This was like ... the oldest fashioned. Barely fashioned. I honestly was more content with the water. You live and you learn. Next time I'll skip the drink and enjoy some awesome burgers and sides with a soda or water!

Yelp
If you're looking for a good bite to eat that doesn't break the bank and gives you a moment of calmness in the chaos that is Times Square, then Bareburger is it ! My brother and I went on a Saturday night around 7p, and were able to plenty of table and bar seating. Service was quick and the bartender was friendly! I ordered the two wagu smash burgers and small fries combo. The smash burgers were great ! They are cooked well done, and I do prefer mine medium at most. We had also ordered the fried pickles and garlic aioli, which I liked better than the fries. Salty, but not too much. Still had a crunch and not overly breaded. Bareburger also had a nice selection of beers on tap. My meal plus tip was about $40, which I feel in NYC Times Square is a steal. Especially when the food is NOT subpar. I would recommend and would go back when I find myself in NYC wanting a smash burger.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick dinner. I got the southern chix, fried chicken on brioche bun with pickled green tomato, with French fries. The chicken was tender and juicy and the fries were delicious.

Yelp
WILDLY OVERPRICED. coating on the onion rings was way too thick, fries were basic and could have been elevated by just being fresh and salted. burgers came so underdressed compared to the photos but my impossible burger was made perfectly otherwise. skiiiiip.

Yelp
This location looks very nice, like a restaurant and not just a burger place. it serves wine by glass or bottle, beer too. They have booth seatings and an upstairs. They have 2 big personal bathroom in the back also. Very luxurious. The wagyu smash burgers were really good, especially with hand cut fries. They have happy hour daily from noon-6pm, which includes 50% off wine. Most glasses are about $10, so that's $5. What a deal! Burger, fries and wine meal. Staff are friendly. Very nice place to eat in the theater area.

Yelp
One word, Awesome!!!!! Food, drink, service and atmosphere: everything is perfect. Their fries are perfectly made and one of the best I have ever eaten. Needless to say about the burgers. Meat is juicy and tender. A good causal dining experience for friends and families.

Yelp
I went to the Bareburger in Hell's Kitchen on a Saturday before a show and was very satisfied. We started with the fried pickles and brussel sprouts which were AMAZING, and then had a double cheeseburger for my entree which was beyond delicious. To make the experience even better, they have a drink special every day and the spicy margarita were only $7. There are so many restaurants in the area, so I normally don't have super high expectations, but this place impressed me. The service was incredible and the establishment was very clean and welcoming as well. I also appreciate them listing the calorie counts, which helped during my annual January diet.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Food is wonderful they have many burgers selection including for Vegetarian. Staff are friendly and professional. Location is in Hell's Kitchen and walk distance from Times Square. Not busy area.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite before a Broadway show. For some reason I thought this was a fast casual (ie order at the counter) spot, but it's sit-down / table service only (though you can get takeout). I ordered an impossible burger and sweet potato fries, both of which were great. The fries were especially good. Service was friendly.

Yelp
Ate here on Friday night. Initial vibes were good. The servers were friendly, although the service was a little on the longer side which was surprising given that the store was not that full (10 other patrons or so). My burger was good, not the best one in the area but it was respectable and I really enjoyed the brioche bun. I was very disappointed in the onion rings - I paid $7 for 6 onion rings that weren't that big and were extremely dry. The pieces of onion were thin and overdone, and the breading was really crunchy. Fortunately I had some fries from another person in my party that were decent. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a burger and a beer, but there are better places for similar price.

Yelp
Got the cheeseburger double to-go. Look up deals on Uber eats or ask the host. I got a buy 1 get 1 free offer for $12ish for lunch. Decent burger.

Yelp
Continued fabulous experiences with BB, Hell's Kitchen!! Couldn't take photos/vid of my food because I ate it way too fast. LOL It's too hard not to do so. Thanks so much for another fantastic meal, BB! -Kat

Yelp
Our first stop on our way to Central Park and it did not disappoint. Super cute location and excellent service. Food was hot and fresh! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Lacked the hype I saw on Google reviews. We asked to be seated outside because it was quite loud inside from the music and were forgotten about for 15 min until we went inside to get menus ourselves then waited another 10 min for the server to get to us and waited again for water to even come to our table. It also seems like you can't customize the doneness of the patty either. Luckily, food did not take long to come out and the $14 signature burger was pretty good. However, I would say it is not worth that to spend on a pretty small burger with no sides. I was pretty disappointed to feel barely satiated after that meal.

Yelp
This was an easy 5 star. A friend found this and suggested it as we were waiting in line for broadway tickets. Seeing many veggie options, we quickly agreed. I loved how close it was to a tourist area but also how much it felt tucked away. The street this place is on is so so cute and pretty. Lots of little shops and places to drink and eat. We went here at 3 and it was pretty empty. Going al an off time was great. We were seated right away- the place had a ton of space though so I'm sure you'd be fine. The place is cute and clean. Lots of wooden tables and booths. Two non gendered bathrooms. The service was impeccable. The staff were so friendly without being overbearing. We even asked them for some recs and they engaged in a cute chat with us and gave some awesome suggestions. Low key would try to friend them hard if I lived here. The burger was amazing. My partner and I shared a burger and fry. The fries were perfectly crispy and soft. The sunshine burger was outstanding. A piece of art. We switched the sauce to aioli and they were very chill about it. Great flavor overall. Healthy comfort food. A friend got and liked the black bean and another friend liked the special sliders (wish they had veg options for that). If I lived here this would be a regular. Great find.

Yelp
I'm truly surprised with the amount of great reviews this place has! First off - the service is horrible! Our waiter never checked on us really. When we asked for a milkshake the just made a noise like "eeeeekkkk uhhhhh" then said the machine is broken. Unprofessional and should've just told us instead of making noises. Then said they were out of wagyu. Like? There not many options on menu & it's a burger place so how are you out of wagyu? I'm not sure how everyone around us who sat down after us got their food before us. The people next to us got there 15 minutes after us, finished their food, sat while they finished their drinks, and paid the bill all before we even got our food. Took 30 minutes for our waiter to come to us to pay the bill when he was in the back on his phone. Waiter also tried to take my fries away before asking if I was done with them (keep in mind we had over half a plate of fries left). When we finally paid the bill and left the waiter saw our empty cups of water and said "oh man! I didn't even know you guys needed more water haha". Not a good response as a waiter when you neglected us so much you didn't even know we have been out of water. Food was mediocre. The fried pickles were so dry and flavorless it just tasted like eating batter. The toppings on the fries were so skimpy for the price! The burger was just okay and kind of dry

Yelp
This is a terrific location...I have been a longtime fan of Bareburger and this one is ideally located if you want a quick(ish) bite before a show. They have a good bar and a friendly bartender! and caring waitstaff too. However, Bareburger in general used to be more mindful and attentive of their ingredients and had locally sourced--which made them very special. Now, it seems, they have gone more mainstream--and use CANOLA OIL--yikes!! I also read here about a customer complaining that they no longer offer a gluten-free option--that is not exactly true, I always get my burger wrapped in a collard green (definitely gluten-free!).

Yelp
Terrible! Came here last night 2/19 as my sister was visiting from out of state and really wanted a hamburger; I really love the West 57th location as it's always great service and the food is amazing. It was 8:30 p.m. and we stopped into Bareburger after our Broadway show I was pumped to get some food as we had not eaten much all day. We sat down and I ordered a dirty martini which was great! We started to place our food order only to find out they were out of onion rings (totally fine) we then asked for hot pickles to be added to our burgers and we were told they did not have any left... anyway we just ordered standard burgers one impossible and one regular meat. We are sitting there waiting and about 9 minutes go by and the server comes back to us and tells us that they are also out of brioche buns, at this point I am very annoyed and we just decided to cancel the whole order. I drank my drink quickly, paid, and we got the heck out of there. I am unclear as to why the restaurant was out of everything it was an hour and a half until they closed and people were still coming in. I will definitely never recommend Bareburger on West 46th street as it was such poor service overall. Thanks for a terrible experience!

Yelp
Right off the rip, the ambience is cool. My son and I spent the weekend in NYC and stayed in Hell's Kitchen. He has celiac and it's always tough finding a good place to eat that can accommodate us. Bareburger was that place. Wait staff were very attentive, pleasant and understanding. We both had the Americana Wagyu that was the juiciest of burgs. The drinks were top notch! And because my son can never get it, he had a GF fried chicken burger to go. Of course, it was awesome!
google avatar

Yelp
All is good when stopping here for a quick delicious bite before a show. Friendly service and fast when you need it. Again a sweet happy hour on top of it.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was so good and there are vegan options (impossible Patties and in house made veggie patties). I ordered the my sunshine veggie burger and you can really taste the veggies and sweet potato in it. It was great. It came with a brioche bun, which was my fault I didn't read it on the menu. So, I'd order it with a sprout bun or lettuce bed if to make it fully vegan. When we sat down we noticed a sign that stated educators, librarians, medical staff, first responders and military/vets got a discount on their bill which was so nice to see. Everyone's talking about it in their reviews but their happy hour really is amazing. My partner and I both had drinks from the happy hour menu and they were really good! I had a mule ($5) and my partner had a PBR (1$!). Would definitely return to this spot for the friendly environment, attentive staff, good drinks, tasty burgers! Thank you for appreciating first responders and educators ^-^

Yelp
My husband and I were recently on a trip to the east coast and we were ending our trip in NYC. We had just taken the train into the city and wanted to grab a drink and some finger food. We randomly saw a sign outside that said "$5 Moscow Mules". WE ARE IN! We usually order too much food even though we were trying to just get a couple of shareable dishes. However, we went WAY overboard and ended up ordering: -The popcorn chicken was perfectly crispy. It was the perfect finger food to eat while drinking. -The truffle fries which was topped with asiago cheese, truffle salt, scallions. Yum! A little messier and heavier than expected, but we devoured the whole thing. -The southern chix sandwich was the best! We love Nashville hot buttermilk-fried chicken sandwiches wherever we go and this really hit the spot. So happy we randomly stumbled upon this place! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Great unique food, amazing service, and amazing music! It was also very modern looking, and was epic to be at in a not-so-busy location!

Yelp
Small portions, overpriced. A waste. Good fries. Lame Spicy Bison Burger. Service was fine. Atmosphere is nice though.
google avatar

Wade C.

Yelp
Nice crew here. Everytime I asked for something, it was gotten immediately and brought directly. Really good burger, veggie burger, fried chicken sandwich and onion rings. Top it off with 1/2 price happy hour wine and 20% AARP discount and WOW!
google avatar

Miri S.

Yelp
I really liked this place, especially for their happy hour. They have $5 moscow mules and martinis - my moscow mule tasted great and was a very decent size; my friend's dry martini was flavorful too (and I learned for the first time what a dry martini is). Bareburger is special for its vegan burger options; they had a variety of buns too including Keto buns which I really appreciated as someone who practices carb cycling from time to time. Service was great; waitresses were very kind and friendly - they accidentally gave us a moscow mule instead of a martini and just gave us both, saying it was on the house and that they love us (). The vegan burger patty was made of fried sweet potato; it tasted so good and hit real hard with the moscow mule. There are also calorie counts so I felt good about what I was eating, healthwise and pricewise. The only reason I'd give this place 4 instead of 5 stars is because the happy hour prices/drinks are what make it special. If it wasn't happy hour, it might not be as spectacular. But all in all, good for my health conscious gals who can't give up drinking.
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
Stopped by here while waiting for friends and sat at the bar. Was served by a really nice bartender by the name of Javier (i think) who makes pretty darn good margaritas! They have happy hour Monday - Fridays starting from 12pm so it's definitely a great place to catch up or pre game before dinner. Gotta come back to try the burger next time!
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
I got sick the next day, but I cannot deduct if it was from dinner the night before or lunch the day of and hence still 3 stars. This was a late dinner take out Monday at 10PM. If you are looking for a greasy, traditional, hit-the-spot kind-of burger, this place is not it. It's an organic "clean" taste. Food: 3.75 out of 5 Be My Burger I am not sure if it was the "clean" taste because of the organic ingredients or it was a little bland because it doesn't have hormone-injected ingredients. Stone ground mustard couldn't save it. Overall average but tasty (although a bit tasteless) Nice touch: brioche and alfalfa Price: 3 out of 5 Burger is a little smaller than "standard" so I cooked myself another dish at home. My total was $11.98 for the burger that's 15 to 20% smaller than standard. Cleanliness/Packaging/Service: 2 out of 5 The burger wasn't fully cooked and that's what I requested for and I had food poisoning the next day, so I would say it's best to do less communal tables curing COVID times and actually have to wipe down the tables, which I did not see the servers do when I picked up my order. Nice touch: packaging

Gennyka L.

Yelp
Not the same as when I went 2 years ago. They don't have the forager burger anymore. which was a favorite. It says newman vegan cookies on the menu for an option for the vegan milkshake but they said they don't have it anymore. The vegan milkshake is very over priced for the quality. It just tasted and looked like strawberry milk. I made my own impossible burger and it was good. Was overall disappointed.

Lev A.

Yelp
For a quick burger joint with a decent burger this place is great. Service was on top of its game and the inside was clean. The burger was pretty good for being a wagyu burger but not incredible. The French friend that we're loaded we're great. For the price and the area tho it was totally worth it. They also have gluten free options which was a huge plus. If you have a late night burger craving this is probably your spot. Hopefully you guys enjoy and as always happy hunting
google avatar

Bushra H.

Yelp
I am always on board with a joint joint that caters to the masses with high end options. I really enjoyed my experience at this location. I'm writing this in 2020 so they've adapted to outdoor seating, which is actually great. Our server was really friendly and accommodating. What do I recommend? My husband got the bison burger which was pretty good and I got the forager vegan burger, which was also great. I really love that they have both plant based and omnivorous options! Also I highly recommend getting their garlic aioli on anything you can, that stuff is gold. We got them on our fries and I loved it so much I asked for more. These are not the cheapest burgers you can get but I would definitely shell out cash for this meal again! Getting 5 stars from me!
google avatar

Daniela W.

Yelp
Went to dinner with friends before a show. We all wanted something simple and easy. We ordered burgers, one veggie burger , side salads, fries and a Cobb salad. We really enjoyed the burgers and the Cobb salad, as well as the fries. Yummy! The side salads were really small , so not worth it. The dressing had no taste, so I wouldn't order it again. The service was very good, the atmosphere not so much. This establishment needs a remake. Overall I'd go again.
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
Bareburger's happy hour is pretty excellent. $1 PBR, $3-4 mules, attentive service -- can't go wrong. It's great for a post-work/pre-show meetup. Bareburger's menu is vegetarian- and vegan-friendly, while also meeting the needs of low-carb and gluten-free diets and striving for organic/local ingredients where possible. It's not cheap for a casual spot, but prices are still reasonable, especially by Midtown standards.
google avatar

Yi L.

Yelp
The meat quality is just phenomenal, and the burgers are so yummy. Onion rings is so crispy and the garlic sauce went so well with it! The Wrangler is with the bacon & the truffle frizzled onions made it even better!

Yelp
Amazing gem in Hells Kitchen. This brick walled 2-story local place had delicious grass feed beef. Our sever Alex made spot on selections for weary sight seers!!!!

Shelly-Ann B.

Yelp
This burger joint is superb. Great customer service. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the me (plus more than happy to adjust to your dietary needs/allergies). The food here is 10/10 - the burgers are really delicious. I'd recommend going during happy hour for the drinks too!
google avatar

Sonali G.

Yelp
I'd rate this place a solid 3.5/5. Ordered the "my sunshine" burger on a keto bun for takeout. Love that they have keto buns - great to see that they're offering a wide variety of options based on different dietary preferences! My only complaint with my food was that it was extremely greasy. If there were less oil, I'd easily bump this up to a 4-4.5.
google avatar

Heather Marie V.

Yelp
I was in need of a quick bite before a show and thought this place would fit the bill. Their vegan burgers taste just like a meat burger and are very tasty. I ordered for pickup as I wasn't sure how much time I would have, but they let me eat my order at the bar which was great. However, it was EXPENSIVE. I felt like I spent nearly $30 for a burger and fries. It is New York prices, and perhaps if I hadn't ordered ahead I would have saved some money, but not a significant amount.
google avatar

Pieter D.

Yelp
They made a mighty fine gluten free and impossible burger for me. They also asked about allergies ahead of time so that was comforting. And the vegan shake was super great. Imo this is one of the better burger places in NYC. Pretty great location too. Staff were super chill and friendly as well. Would totally go back

Yelp

Yelp

Yelp
Visiting New York Dec 2019 and it's snowing now it feels like Christmas! We were starving after a 5 hr flight with some delay. We were told by a friend to Bareburger and why not since there is a location on our street we are staying. We checked in about 8pm and were quickly seated by the hostess. It was about 3/4 full on Monday evening. The menu looks great with do many different burgers and also nice to see a vegan menu on the 2nd page! We ordered: - coconut milkshake cookies & cream: my husband had to help me describe this as I am still sick and can't taste but he said it had a strong coconut taste and really delicious! -So Cal burger: my burger is organic turkey with avocado, mayo, onions, alfalfa, cheese and sprout bun. It was really good considering I couldn't really taste. My husband took a few bites and he it tasted healthy. The Duke: bison, cheddar cheese, onions, mushroom, kale, tomatoes, aioli with an egg. That is a juicy and messy burger. Watching my husband eat infront of me, man not a good sight but as long as he likes it, I'm happy. He did say the bison could have more salt and add acid to the burger. He added ketchup from the table which elevated the flavour. - Moscow mule: hubby liked it. Especially at $3 special baby for Monday's. All in all, great food, fantastic table service. Would definitely come back when I can taste again.

Yelp
Vegan options were great! Server was polite, ambience was spot on and the prices were reasonable.
