Such a cool bar. It’s not huge but if you are able to get a spot in the back with the couches it has such a cool vibe. Drinks were delish as well I recommend the matcha!

This is an incredible bar! Second visit was better than our previous time. We had some spectacular cocktails - specifically the clarified cocktails. The owners were there and made recommendations as well as great conversation. The vibe at this bar is second to none. I recommend this spot for those into cocktails and those who just want to have a great night out at a unique bar.

Drinks were great and the atmosphere was adorable. Very nice date night spot. Everything was cozy and perfectly crafted. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been to this lovely bar a few times and every time it was a great experience! However last night when we walked in at 11:15pm, we were told that they had already made the last call for drinks. Although the bar officially closes at midnight on Thursdays, we were refused service. I understand the barman’s desire to go home earlier but as a customer I felt unwelcome.

Overall rating: 4.8 Absolutely one of my favorite bars in Carrol Gardens. I’ve been here only for drinks on a date and solo, but I could totally see their food also being good. I love how intimate, fancy and sultry the bar feels. It was interesting that the backyard feels like a different spot altogether. This is a great spot if you’re just in the area or looking to impress your date. I can totally see myself reading a book in the corner. Very friendly staff & great atmosphere. Highly, highly recommend.

I soooo dig this spot! Came here one Saturday night w/ a few friends. There was a bit of a wait for seating for 4. So I say get here before 8 if you want to sit w/o waiting. The place definitely has that speakeasy vibe...dark, low moody lighting, and music you can rock back and forth to. The drink of the night for me was George Washington's night out. It comes served up, and it was delicious. I did get it on the rocks after the 1st time. Definitely will be back...maybe on a date. Either way, I'll be back!

Really wanted to love this place but was left pretty disappointed after finally making it down to Cobble Hill to check it out. Housed in a former brothel it's dimly lit and has a cozy vibe, with limited seating down the curved bar and a few seats in the window. The menu is accessible via Instagram which...kinda sucks for those of us who don't have IG. The bartenders--who had been loudly laughing and joking with each other when we came in and took a minute to even greet us--begrudgingly gave us a printed menu to look at. The drink selection is interesting and all of the drinks we tried were good, which is the biggest redeeming part about this bar. The two male bartenders continued to be the loudest people in the bar for the duration of our time there and were also eating snacks with their mouths open. Pet peeve, but it was gross and really killed all the ambiance. The other big issue is we were seated at the bar near the door and every time people came in they left the door open and it was FREEZING outside. None of the staff ever went to close the door, so we ended up having to get up multiple times to shut the door. Might give this one another chance once it gets warmer and if there were different bartenders.

Walked in at around 8 PM on a Friday and got seats in the backyard. My boyfriend and I ordered the Dirty old man and the Splendor and misery cocktails. They forgot our order so it took a while, but the drinks were tasty and the backyard has a great vibe.

Great neighborhood bar with top notch mixed cocktails, excellent staff, and a really cool secluded feel. There is plenty of seating inside and outside... and they are actually working on opening additional seating soon. Went with my friends and we really enjoyed ourselves. The owner Jeremy is very charismatic and a pleasure to talk to.

We came here for drinks before dinner down the block and were pleasantly surprised that they had a happy hour until 7pm! I don't think I saw it anywhere on their website. The happy hour offers 3 dollars off their specialty cocktails and a dollar oyster. There wasn't really a speakeasy vibe but it was a nice dimly lit bar with spacious bar seating and nice service. I really liked the Dirty Old Man. The oysters were meh. I wouldn't order again. I would come again for drinks during happy hour since I'm in the neighborhood.

So apparently this bar is housed in a former brothel and the back area which is now filled with plush seating used to have a bed. Sadly, the bed is gone! Regardless, the sultry vibe is still present. Jewel tones with gold accenting and a lot of mood lighting really make this bar...and also they have great cocktails. Wasnt a huge fan that the menu is on an instagram story, but so it goes! My drink of choice was some take on a martini and I believe it was called the persistence if memory. It was as delicious as it was potent. It crosses my mind every now and then..thats how good it was and I'm not even a cocktail gal.

Wow! What an unexpected surprise. This was really interesting. Ambiance - 5/5 - It had some upbeat yet creepy vibes. I really enjoyed walking around and seeing the bed in the back. Definitely something you don't see everyday at a bar. Service - 5/5 - Bartender was nice, friendly and attentive. She helped us with our order. Drinks - 4/5 - Both drinks were pretty solid. It was slightly on the sweeter end which I was not a fan of but I loved the creativity and presentation. I'd say this place is worth a shot. It's unconventional yet fun! Give it a try!

Nice option in the area, especially if the back yard is open. Drinks were good, service was attentive. The back room looked like a great option for a small private event. A bit overpriced compared to other comparable places and for what we experienced, but certainly worth a visit, especially for a date.

Best bar in Cobble Hill by FAR! Staff is amazingly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The ambiance is incredible, decorations, lighting, and music 10/10. Such a welcoming space. Can't wait to go back again!

Cheap midtown club vibe that is very out of place on Smith Street. Spent $50 on two weak, warm drinks with terrible service. They make you read the menu on a 20+ part Instagram story. F this place.

Dimly lit and orderly cocktail bar. Hostess at the front to seat. Not a typical bar where you grab a spot and self serve. Everything is organized by the hostess, waitresses, and bartender. I had the little death house cocktail and an old fashioned. The little death came with some smoke inside the glass. I wasn't looking to mix anything inhaleable with alcohol so I blew out the smoke. Interesting array of flavors in the cocktails. I typically go for neat drinks but they didn't have a whiskey list so I opted for another whiskey based cocktail afterwards. A couple gender neutral restrooms. Staff was attentive and got us seated at the bar once space opened up. Playlist had some 2010s hip hop.

Apparently this place used to be a former brothel, which tips you off to that given the luxurious bed taking center stage in the back room. Some patrons sit on some luscious sheets while sipping their cocktails! Came here with a group of friends, four of us total, and was thrilled to sit at the bar. The bartender brings out the menus that have QR codes on bookmarks, sticking out of an old paperback novel in another language. I had the Presidential Affair (Apostole gin, Nixta licor de Elote, carrot, lemon, toasted cumin) pictured on the right. I also tried the George Washington's Night Out (Hendricks gin, kiwi basil shrub, honey, lemon), pictured on the left. Will be back soon!

After seeing a reel of this place on Instagram my friend and I were super curious about this brother themed bar, and decided to stop by this place since we were in the area. Luckily without reservations we were able to get seated right away around 8:30 pm on a Friday night. They have a cool speakeasy vibe indoors and a French patio vibe on the outside. Really interesting decor and drinks. I had the frozen frose cocktail called U UP? and my friend had the Fallen Angel. Both drinks were great but it was such a humid night that we decided to leave after one drink. Overall, service and good and its a super chill spot. I would definitely come back here to try some of their other drinks on a less humid night!

Such a cute and hidden bar in Brooklyn that's perfect for a date night. Upon entering, you walk through a narrow and dark bar leading to the back. There's a room with a bed (wink wink) before being welcomed to the back outdoor patio area. It's filled with greenery and string lights for an aesthetic and romantic vibe. The QR code takes you to the IG story for the menu. Most of the drinks are $15 for a sophisticated cocktail. I chose the Harlot's Progress, which was strong yet light at the same time. He had The Little Death, which was named precisely for how strong and intense this drink was. Such a cute date spot --definitely would come back!

This is an incredible place! One of the best for me! This is a place with its own atmosphere. I love cocktails and wine in this cafe. They also have a large selection of oysters. And they also have a room where there is a bed instead of tables) And you can lie down and drink delicious wine. I recommend)))

Fantastic cocktail spot. I've been here a few times and have enjoyed the drinks each time I've gone. It's also got a really cool & unique atmosphere inside. It can be a bit crowded/loud but would recommend if you're in the area!

This would be a really impressive place to surprise someone with your good taste at, if not for the fact that it was a former brothel then for their over the top experiential cocktails. There are a couple of nods to the space's former occupant, like the sign out front that reads "This is not a brothel. There are no prostitutes at this address" or the literal four poster bed that has its own room at the back of the business, but unless you care much about a place feeling like a speakeasy, there's no need to pay any mind to the fanciful decorations. The drinks and backyard are really where it's at. The backyard is expansive, and curves around to make way for a large pebbled area, with cozy seating covered in pillows and books. The drink menu is divided into sections like 'shaken' 'stirred' and 'summer' but you'd be doing yourself a favor to order multiple rounds of drinks and from different parts of the menu. Every drink unfolded before our eyes, from the way it was poured and presented to the way the different notes evolved as the drank sat in front of us. We also got a really nicely put together cheese board and different kinds of oysters on the half shell. All my favorite things on one menu! If you can find a quiet and temperate time to go, I can think of no better respite than to spend an evening in the backyard of Barely Disfigured.

Damn, they've really taken this backyard to the next level! I already loved their backyard pre-COVID, but now that it's reopened, the backyard is where it's at. They've taken over the adjacent area and created a huge space that is group-friendly for you to enjoy your expertly crafted cocktails. Definitely loads of Tulum vibes. You'll be transported to a different part of the world, and I don't blame you if you temporarily forget that you live in a concrete jungle. Food menu is somewhat limited, but otherwise love this joint. Prices are actually pretty good compared to the rest of the city considering the quality of the drinks here. No other place I'd rather spend day drinking in the neighborhood!

Such a unique bar on Smith Street! Bartender was friendly and recommended me a cocktail to try and even said if I didn't like it he would make something else for me (spoiler- I loved it). Perfect for a date night or if you are a cocktail aficionado and want to try something new!

Hello hello! AllFunNYC here :) ok so this place is soooo freaking awesome!!!! It is of course very busy because is so fun! The music is on point the whole time youlll be moving your head and for me always dancing haha the cocktails wow!!!!! I mean like incredible!! My favorites were the Splendor and Misery (had 3) lol The Little Dead - smoky and delicious!!! Both of these super strong and you can definitely taste the flavors of liquor so if you like something lighter those are not for you!! Now not as strong but equally delicious! The Dirty old mean cocktails yummmm!!! Super refreshing and easy to down be careful!!! and the George Washington's night out! Yummy!!! Also the last one The Harlots progress was soooo gooood Anyways the whole experience is amazing must go there! The staff was friendly and they were busy I mean BUUUSSSYYYYYY! Only one bathroom so don't hold it too long before going for it

Came here with a date, and I really liked the decor, sat intuw bak room.The music was great, as well as the drinks and the oysters, which were good. The dirty Oldman drink is a must, but I have a feeling all of their drinks are good. I also had a drink with crushed ice, which was good as well. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. I will definitely come back.

Great spot for cocktails! I loved the frose and the dirty old man cocktails. It has a great speakeasy vibe, the bartenders are incredible and while it can get a little loud as the place fills up, I'd return here again. Perhaps when the weather isn't quite as warm, I'll come back again to enjoy the outdoor garden area.

Vibes are booooring. I was with a party of 8 and owner asked us to be quiet when we were talking amongst ourselves. Drink were great but need to work on costumer service.

Love this place, was a bit louder than usual. The cocktails were on point as always for this place. Highly recommend the persistence of memory for a spirit forward cocktail and the Presidential Affair if you're into refreshing cocktails. The folks making the drinks were great & attentive despite how busy it was.

Fantastic spot for a cocktail. Their drinks are creative and tasty. You can enjoy them in their dimly lit bar, their outdoor area or in their bedroom which literally has a bed that you can lie on, it's fantastic. Bar room has plenty of seating. The bar is very full so you'll def find a drink you'll like. Service was nice too. Bartender and waitress were attentive and on top of things. Drinks were great, did not predict corretly how they would taste based on the menu but that was fine. This is a spot definitely worth checking out after a late dinner.

I recommend getting a few different drinks here because every drink I had here was really good including the Japanese whiskey drinks (I am a big fan- they know how to make a really good Japanese whiskey cocktail - spirit forward and also in a more refreshing cocktail)

My party of three came in on a slow Monday for the bed in the backroom, obviously. We had come from nearby Clover Club and were in the mood for more cocktails, but were admittedly perplexed by the photos online showing people not using the bed. If I'm going to a bar with a bed, I'm sitting on the bed. We started with drinks at the bar first, they were missing ingredients for some so we went with our second choices, and were disappointed with what we received. Unbalanced in flavor, not quite living up to the elaborate menu descriptions, we headed towards the back. We took our shoes off and settled in with vintage playboys and Albert Camus books sprinkled about the space. Very quickly a man from the front of house came to awkwardly check on us for...being on the bed. No, it's not a problem, he said we were doing it right by taking our shoes off and pointed to the camera in the corner. Cool. We ordered a second round of cocktails, I ended up sending mine back because it was undrinkable, an occurrence that is so rare I can't even tell you the last time I did it. My friend very smartly switched to wine, and the replacement cocktail they gave me was no better. I was definitely starting to get the vibe that they just wanted us out of there. That may have also had something to do with me rejecting what appeared to be a male staff members insinuation that I should join him in the kitchen for??? The brothel angle isn't an excuse to be a creep when a woman is trying to find the bathroom. Finally it was the end of the night and we were heading out when we found someone's credit card left in the back room. We gave it to one of the staff and he said if we "changed your mind and decide it's yours call back". What? The card didn't have our names on it, it's not ours, please return it to the person it belongs to. Shady. Not a single interaction was normal. Two stars for...idk. The aesthetic? The literature selection? Other reviewers rave about the cocktails but overall I think the place is just a gimmick with some off putting staff. In a brothel themed bar I would have loved to see a Madame or a woman anywhere in sight.

Were I reading these descriptive tidbits elsewhere, I might be scratching my head. The bar stools and counter feel like they would fit equally well at a trendy diner, despite the darker lighting. The back room is deliciously described as "scandalous" elsewhere, with its chairs, red lighting, and bed. We listened to French hip-hop as we sipped our cocktails. And I'm still not 100% sure I get how they came up with the intriguing name of the place. It certainly caught the attention of my friends when I said we were meeting here. Yet everything works together, really well. It's one of those "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" things. It's got this fun combo of chill and trendy. Classic happy hour cocktails at $10 were a pleasure to imbibe, combined with the combination charcuterie plate - not enough for a meal, but enough to start off your evening and whet your appetite for more. Be sure to include this place in your evening's plans.

Had drinks at Barely Disfigured on Saturday evening. A sleek and trendy cocktail bar with excellent drinks, great service, and a very fun vibe. Quality: There is a lot to like about Barely Disfigured, one of the better cocktail bars I have been to in NYC. They recently reopened post-COVID and are right back to the business of creating and serving high quality cocktails. During my visit I ordered their Tenancigo as well as Dirty Old Man, two mezcal based cocktails, which mixed style with flavor. I preferred the sweeter Dirty Old Man, but loved how they got the drink to look with Tenancigo. I also got sips of Splendor & Misery and George Washington's Night Out, which showed off how they handled other alcohols, but I was happy with my selections. Quantity: No issue with the size of the drinks, more flavor forwarded than alcohol based. Value: $13-$15 for the assorted Cocktails. I do have to say the one thing I did not like was the Instagram story that contains the menu. Impossible to navigate without taking pictures. Ambiance: Barely Disfigured is located along Smith Street in the Cobble Hill area of Brooklyn. From the moment you read the sign on the window, you know it is going to be a cool space. Themed off an old brothel, they use dim lighting, velvet curtains, and red lighting to set the mood. A large stylish bar sits in the main area with a unique tail that opens additional seating at the end. A more intimate room can be found towards the back area. They also have a courtyard, but it was not open during our visit. The music selections were awesome, setting that sexy cool vibe. Crowd: Some combination of COVID and the weather kept their outdoor area closed, but they were operating at full capacity inside. It took a bit for us to grab enough seats for our entire group, but eventually we were able to settle in. Service: One of the most frustrating things about cocktail bars is they rarely have the correct amount of bartenders. Barely Disfigured never had less than three behind the counter, solving this issue, and keeping the drinks flowing. Parking: Street parking on the nearby residential streets.

I love this place! Great drinks service, and ambiance! Oysters were also yummy! I had the Madame Claudette cocktail which was in my opinion their best drink on the menu!

Barely Disfigured is not a brothel. They'll let you know many times. Amazing marketing, aesthetic, and flat-out mistique. Walked in on a Saturday night at 10 or so. Prime time for Brooklyn bars. Did my girlfriend and I have a hard time getting a seat? No. Was service slow for a place that makes intricate craft cocktails? No. Was everything clean and well done? You bet. I never had a hot cocktail until I came to BD. Unfortunately the name escapes me, but coffee, cream, vodka whatever was phenomenal. The cold one, George Washington's Night Out, tasted like artisanal lemonade... which encouraged my girlfriend and me to put away 5 of them between us. It was a problem. Great crowd - very Brooklyn but neither hipsters nor Long Islanders trying to have their one night out in the city per year. 5/5 y'all crush it.

This is my go to place for drinks and atmosphere. I just let Olivia choose my journey and she never steers me wrong. While I love the smokiness of the Little Death, my new favorite is Splendor & Misery. Just tell Olivia your flavor profile and let her take it from there. A perfect evening for me is when Olivia steers and Ellie pours. Ellie's got more art to her than just the ink on her sleeves- Truly a master mixer.

400 Reviews! Woo! After roaming around the Red Light District in Amsterdam, I didn't think a Brooklyn bar could make me blush, but all of that changed at Barely Disfigured. We were walking around pretty late on a weeknight with wine on our minds and stumbled upon Barely Disfigured which I had been meaning to pay a visit to. The bar area is beautiful... really a sight to be seen. Perfectly illuminated and a work of art all on its own. We ordered 2 glasses of Chardonnay (delicious, btw) and, after hearing cool things about the back room, roamed around a bit until our eyes fell upon a RED ROOM WITH A BED IN IT. It was unexpected and enough to make even Christian Grey giggle a bit. Certainly not what I thought I'd be seeing on a random Wednesday night. But cool, very cool. Later, the bartenders told us a bit about the bar's history which was certainly interesting. It's not only a great place for a cocktail or glass of wine, but definitely a conversation starter. Very cool spot to grab drinks with friends. I'd come back (to the bar area, of course) again!

Paid $50 plus tip, pretty pricey for three drinks and a ginger ale. Been here before so I took my friends to the bed behind the bar that's pretty cozy. Even though Im not sure it's a good idea to sit on a common public bed. I've had a couple of drinks in when I came in and saw that one of the menus had a lipstick stain so I waived at the bartender and said my menu is pretty lonely so I'm going to give it a kiss. Bartender took the menu from me and mouthed 'the menu thanks you' as he waived the menu like a puppet. We were the last people at the bar but the bartenders were gracious that we overstayed our welcome.

This is a gem in Brooklyn. Absolutely perfectly curated- you walk into an off-the-path speakeasy that you'd find perhaps in the 4th Arrondissment, or perhaps a jazz lounge in Marseille... and when you enter the backyard you are in Tulum. The drinks are expert and the oyster bar offering is perfection.

If you're looking for a cocktail bar to impress someone, this is definitely it. It's absolutely beautiful, the drinks are incredible, and the price point is very fair ($16 each) given the quality and effort put into each drink! The entire place is advertised as "French surrealism meets brothel vibes" and honestly it's pretty spot on, there's even a literal bed itself inside the bar as well. Just such a fun place where you feel detached from reality, it's what I envisioned bars to be like from film and cinema!

This would make an incredibly awkward but hilarious first date moment I can imagine. Vision - It's designed like a brothel/bordello/whorehouse/slut pantry. Whatever term that tickles your fancy. They have turned on that red light. I came here with my married friend that I've known for years and later the wife joined. But I go to the back and walk through the bar area and he's sitting there of course by himself in a corner of what is like a fancy bedroom giggling to himself. Complete with a banister bed. He's already looking into booking this or inquiring about renting out the room for his birthday next year. Cutting to the chase - we were in the mood for fancier drinks and I know my friend likes discovering really weird places to go to in the city and this is even better because it's in Brooklyn. The drinks are average - expensive for what you would see on a cocktail menu ($12-14). I tried three different drinks. My favorite was the 'Bad Decisions': Rittenhouse rye whiskey, Cocchi Americano, black tea lemon, Regan's bitters. The Madame Kelly was a little funky to me. It's a cocktail infused with Makrut vodka, homemade orange liquer, and lime. Very limey and tart. My friend's Japanese whiskey infused cocktail 'Incognito Tab' was actually really unique, refreshing, and tasty. Ended the night with a 'dirty old man'. Badoom Ching. I mean, come on. You can't get funnier than that.

First time I went to this place with my boyfriend I was blown away. The place itself has a super cool history; basically it was an alleged massage parlor/ brothel a while ago and was later shut down and converted into this "not a brothel" themed bar with a dimly-lit back room with a mattress included in the ambience. In theory it's a great space and I really wanted to love it but unfortunately every experience past the first has been a disappointment. The service has always been fine but a little slow and nothing exceptional. Cocktails are $14-$16 and the menu, at least for the last 8 months or so, hasn't changed. This neighborhood is inundated with great cocktail bars (Leyenda, Clover Club, Dirty Precious) all of which have constantly-evolving cocktail menus, so it's difficult to stay stagnant and remain relevant. On top of that, the last 3 times we went, multiple cocktails (keep in mind there are only maybe a dozen on the menu) were either marked as 86ed or were missing ingredients. The cocktails that I have tried all had weirdly rancid aftertastes. All in all, a bar with amazing potential that kills itself by having a menu of maybe 12 overpriced cocktails, only 8 of which are "in stock", with mediocre bartenders. After several failed attempts, will not return

I liked the vibe of the place, we were almost first to come in and as it gets later more ppl to join, some of which were regulars. This place is a cocktail bar with quiet skilled bartender, that can create something multilayered that will make your young buds to have a party. Don't expect lots of food, they have oysters and shrimps to snack while you enjoy the drink.

This is a neighborhood gem. Order one of the cocktails from the menu, they work hard on it and have at least two specialty cocktails available for every type of drinker. The bartenders are totally cool with off menu drinks but if you haven't tried one of their cocktails, you are missing out on the whole vibe you think you're getting from the space alone. And talk about a space! Gorgeously curated interior, impeccable attention to details throughout the interior and exterior spaces (yard is closed until May), in their cocktails, on the menu, even on their Instagram. Did I mention oysters? Love this spot!
