Went for an early Saturday dinner and got some old Brick Oven favorites they’ve added to the menu. Chicken rigatoni, Tuscan truffle pizza, spinach artichoke appetizer. Everything was so delicious. It’s so cozy and cute inside and the service was great. This would be a great spot for a date. The building is in the corner and a little hidden so it could be easy to miss I think. The outside patio seemed like such a vibe (was too cold today). Only critique would be to make the pizzas a little bit bigger!

Came here looking for a bite to eat after a haircut and hands down best fresh pasta I’ve eaten!! The sauce of my truffle Alfredo was so creamy and rich yet not too rich that it couldn’t be finished. The waiter gave me a good white wine recommendation as well a little sweet and dry to match the pasta. My Caesar was fresh and well prepared. The bread was to die for!! It was light and airy and wished I asked where or how that made it. Although the server was nice they didn’t check on me often that I was left without a drink most of the time, but other than that this place is amazing!! I wonder why it was so slow this place needs more people in it!

We enjoyed the charcuterie and wine, on patio. The short ribs were amazing.

We were at a red light, hungry, and just decided we wanted an early dinner. I had the mussels frites and wish they’d given me a spoon because the sauce was outstanding. My partner had the chicken parm, his go-to. He said the chicken was nice and crispy. I tried his pasta and the sauce was tangy and delicious. Damage was about $70 as we had an appetizer too. I forget what they were called but they were little breads with brie, bacon, and a pickled fruit with basalmic vinegar. Also very good.

Friday afternoon on our way to Central Market we popped into a farily new Italian restaurant and bar Baretto Bistro. It was late in the afternoon and we decided on cocktails. My Love ordered the Shoal Creek Side Car and Espresso Mocha Martini. Both were good but too sweet for our tastes. Well made drinks just not for us, next visit we are ordering wine. For food we decided on the Lunch Burger on the brioche bun and wagu beef. It was good but not great. The fries were good and dippin sauce was great. Also had the Mista salad with gorgonzola, pears, and toasted almonds. This was very good. So when you find your afternoon open, your most favorite person by your side...stop by Baretto, sit close, hold hands, lots of kisses, share some food, never let them go...I'm not. Love🖤

Friends/musicians too me to Baretto, right around the corner from me. I'd never been there, and it was excellent! Would go back. Would definitely recommend as genuinely authentic Italian flavors.

Google
Nice space, interesting menu, food was all topnotch but every item had something not right about it. The salad was awesome but the pears werent ripe. The risotto was amazing and the salmon maybe the best I've had but the shrimp were "off". Server was nice and making a real effort but was clearly inexperienced and had to be coaxed.

My girlfriend and I come here all the time for date night. Such a fantastic spot and exceptional service. The atmosphere is very homey and it makes you feel like you have found a hidden gem in Austin. The drink selection is of great quality and many fun cocktails. One of the reasons we always come back is the service from Jaxon!

Yelp
My hubby and i went over on a Wednesday after work, 5:30 as it's in same complex as Mark's Men's Store where i work in 26 Doors. Well it was a great decision. Sat out on the pretty, relaxing patio. The wait staff was so friendly and explained menu, Happy Hour All Day Wednesday. Hit the jackpot with charcuterie and artichoke dip, a few glasses of red. Wrapped up our Wednesday and tied a Big Ribbon around it with a shared chocolate scrumptious dessert. They won us over for our new favorite Wine Bar. Highly Recommend!!!

Yelp
Ate here on a weekend night with my wife. Sadly, it was just okay. Very ordinary food and each dish seemed to be lacking very usual accompaniments,. How so? The pear salad had fresh greens, but the pear slices had no taste. The mussels in a wine, butter sauce tasted like they left out the wine (really!), and there was no toasted bread for dipping in the broth. My wife's pizza did not have even a hint of authenticity (in terms of authentic Italian), despite being made in the outdoor wood burning (I assume) oven. Just a lot of cheese, a touch of basil, and tomato. Candidly, my son-in-law's pizza, made in a pizza oven I bought him for his birthday is far superior. The espresso post-meal was not served with a lemon peel, which is quite typical for an espresso served in an Italian-like venue. And, playing pop tunes (but more so songs from the 80s/90s) didn't add to the mood. Server was friendly and attentive. At about $100 with tip, which included a glass of wine and an excellent vodka martini, puts this place in the over-priced category. Sized up against Cipollina (sp?), an Italian-like venue a few miles away, alas, this restaurant comes in a distant second in terms of atmosphere, food, and value. Not bad by any means, just very ordinary and priced high for what we had ...

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place! The food was great and cocktails were creative and delicious! I loved that we saw our pizza going through a few stages of prep in the outdoor wood fired pizza oven too. They had great gluten free options, like gf pizza crust and gf crackers to go with the charcuterie board. The Tuscan Truffle pizza was unique, it had a savory truffle base instead of marinara sauce. I liked it! We got there right around 5 after a work day so it was quiet, but slowly got busier and was a fun environment by the time we left. The service was okay, a little off at times and we had to chase someone down to get our check, but I'm glad we also weren't rushed out of there. We enjoyed a 2-3 hour meal there and overall had a great experience!

Yelp
Had a little galentine's dinner here and the food was delicious! The place is on the smaller side but there's patio seating when the weather is nicer outside. We got a couple of appetizers and share the Tuscan Truffle pizza. When they brought the pizza to our table, the smell was so fragrant that our mouths started salivating. It also tasted just as good as it smelled! It did get busy after we got there and it seemed like there were only one or two servers but she still took care of us with full tables. I will definitely be back for the pizza!

Yelp
Yum! Got off work pretty late and this place accommodated us even tho they were closing. Service was great, bartender made us the best tasting shot that was needed after a long day. Food was delicious. Will def come back.

Bonnie R.

Yelp
We ate here with friends on a Saturday evening. Small place but nice. The staff was very accommodating on setting up a table for seven of us. I had the chicken rigatoni and a Caesar salad and it was delicious. Others in our party had the salmon dish, the chicken Parmesan, the mussels and the burger. Everyone was pleased with their dish. Next time, I will try the salmon as it looked delicious.

Taira W.

Yelp
They have really good coffee and I can't wait to devour my cheesecake. Service amazing ( Cameron) Everyone is cheerful and comforting. Owner seems like a hoot.

Yelp
A great addition to the neighborhood. I came in for lunch on a weekday. The food was very good, the service was quick & attentive, I will surely be back to try them out for dinner.

Larsen B.

Yelp
This vegetable soup is the best vegetable soup i've ever had. It has some rigatoni noodles in it cooked to perfection. I'll be dreaming about this until I get the opportunity to come back. The staff is always so kind and accommodating. We love sitting at the bar and getting to chat with our favorite bartender Phil! We also got the vanilla gelato with balsamic glaze for dessert and it was incredible.

Cole B.

Yelp
Phillip the bartender is excellent and friendly. The food is sensational. The wine selection is vast and the atmosphere is authentic. (I'm not sure if she's the owner or manager) but she's pleasant and hard working. This place is 5 stars for a reason--even the patrons are awesome--if you want to spice up a Saturday evening with friends, a date, or just to treat yourself, Italian...is on the menu.

Yelp
Welcome, wonderful bistro! A crystal clear Austin day, a lovely patio, and a truffle pasta with mushrooms puts me in my happy place! Fabulous spot to share with dear friends and the gracious servers make you feel welcome.

Daphne A.

Yelp

Yelp
BARETTO BISTRO 1206B WEST 38TH IN THE 26 DOORS PLAZA They used to be on Braker, and shared a menu and outdoor patio with Brick Oven. HEB decided to expand their building during covid and both restaurants shut down. We were heart broken! I would get melancholy, and search for them, hoping they had moved. One day they popped up!!!! We were there!!! Oh yes we are, at least every other week. Cozy inside, patio outside with a pizza oven. There food is amazing. It is a family owned restaurant, very friendly, intimate and warm. They remember you, It feels like home.

Yelp
Great food, very nice service and we loved the neighborhood vibes of the place. The cocktails were tasty and we loved the salads. We split the NY strip steak on Valentines Day and it was delicious. Could see ourselves coming back to enjoy pizza and wine on the cozy patio (complete with a fireplace).

Yelp
This place has been my saving grace while staying with my husband across the street in the hospital for several weeks. After only a couple visits, they called me by name and are so friendly. Very helpful in suggesting wines and dishes and this was no exception. Love this place!

Corrie T.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch. Got the Niçoise salad and it was nice to see something different on the menu. Friendly staff. I would definitely give it a try for dinner sometime.

Fred E.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Ambiance was great. Will definitely return soon.

Yelp
We were promptly seated at lunchtime by a friendly waiter/host. The lunch menu had enough choices to make deciding difficult. I finally landed on mushroom truffle fettuccine ($16) at the waiter's suggestion. I'm not a huge fan of a plate of pasta but this cream sauce and the tender pasta was very good and the lunch portion was the perfect amount. My friend had the B "Eliel" T chicken sandwich on a brioche bun with bacon, cheddar, chili dressing and some fries ($14) - all tasty. We enjoyed the ambiance of the wood and brick, small dining area and noticed on the chalkboard they have happy hour ($2 off wine) til 6 daily. The outside seating area would be great on a lovely day. This was a great spot and we plan to visit again!

Sara A.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant because it was close to the hospital. My friend ordered the special which was shrimp. She sent it back because it was fishy and metallic-tasting. The sauce advertised was non-existent. She reordered a salad and appetizer, Croquettes. The appetizer went back because it was salty and horrible -- we tried half a piece and couldn't eat it. I ordered the muscles, they were good, but really should have come with pasta rather than French fries, and really should have been an appetizer. I took home chicken Parmesan for my husband, it was disappointing and the tomato sauce was bitter. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Marcos M.

Yelp
Expensive, the food was decent but the quantity was not ideal for me (250 lbs man ) . If you are smaller it might be a better experience , staff was good !

Barbara F.

Yelp
Food was delicious, server was exceptional...very attentive and friendly. It was a beautiful day, so we took advantage of their outdoor patio. I had the truffle fettuccine with chicken added...excellent!

Susan B.

Yelp
Delicious food and great choices. Very good service. Ambiance is casual. Because it's a smaller bistro when it's full, it can be loud. We have enjoyed each experience there. Delicious cocktails!!

Tami E.

Yelp
Really good food. The staff was extremely nice. Great happy hour. The seafood pasta was good. The tuna salad is huge. And really good and fresh.

Sally S.

Yelp
Went for happy hour and had several appetizers. My favorite was the Tortine and the croquette. Next time I want to try a pizza. I loved the atmosphere , and service was good.

Anne L.

Yelp
What a find! Great food, great wine, incredible service! We love it! We'll be back! Philip the bartender is the best and everyone loves him!

Holly H.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Had salmon with great fresh veggies and roasted potatoes. All was cooked perfectly. Also had special chicken rigatoni with yummy tomato cream sauce - delicious! We will definitely be back to try more things. You need to try this gem. Holly

Yelp
Delightful surprise. Wonderful choices from Austin brewed tap beer to Tuscan wine. Nice! Sienna could use some tap local IPA. Appetizers amazing and entrees, too. It's new, so working out the wait staff and having more ground pepper grinders. Maybe one day there'll be a couple tasty pizzas. Great job Stan for bringing a much needed neighborhood bistro. We applaud you and know it'll be five stars soon! Thank you. I'd say don't let social media know, but honestly, that's how we found you tonight.

Erin I.

Yelp
Our whole family loves Baretto. The food is delicious. The staff is all very nice and the bartender makes wonderful cocktails. We're so happy to have this cozy neighborhood restaurant so close to home.

Camille T.

Yelp
We were excited to try this place since it is new and we live close by. Sadly, everything about it was extremely disappointing. The place is tiny and packed with tables so every time the waiter could barely squeeze in to get to the side of the table to wait on us. The salad is spring mix on a plate, that's it, and they charge $8. My little girl and I split the chicken Parmesan which was also very disappointing for the $25 that they charge, plus their secret split plate charge they add on additionally without telling you. The sauce was literally tomato paste on fettuccini, and the chicken tasted like a chicken nugget. My neighbor had the truffle pasta when she went and warned us ahead of time not to get that because it was also sub par. Do yourself a favor and save your money instead of trying this place. I don't normally even write reviews, but this experience deserved it.

Sara R.

Yelp
Add this restaurant to your list! Great little neighborhood spot, excellent service and delicious food. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the risotto special and it was fantastic! Feels cozy and welcoming inside plus great outdoor patio seating to enjoy when the weather is nice. This was our first visit and we will definitely go back again!

Molly K.

Yelp
Wonderful!! Food, staff and ambience is excellent!! We will most definitely be going back.
