Where to Eat in Sequim and Port Angeles, Washington | Eater Seattle

"Barhop epitomizes the best of Port Angeles’s no-nonsense character. From its well-worn, warehouse-like space along the waterfront it bakes up delectable handmade pizzas on sourdough crust. That and a solid selection of craft beer are all it takes to make a local favorite." - Matthew Lombardi

We were on a road trip with our newly rescued dog, Maybelline when we visited here. Great beers and the location is amazing. Beautiful views of the water from right out front. Friendly staff too.

Marta

Google
Great pizza, good beer selection. Nice views of the water. Eat here for my birthday dinner was not disappointed.

Matt Chapman

Google
We stopped in for dinner and had an excellent meal. The staff are friendly and responsive, while keeping the atmosphere laid back and cool. We had an really great pizza and added some choice toppings to make it just right. Great beer and cider options, as well as NA drinks too. It felt like a great spot for a casual night out and felt family friendly. I highly recommend!

Sweety Dhaval

Google
We ate garlic knots, tapenade, pesto veggie pizza and margarita pizza since we are vegetarian! So so so delicious food! Authentic hand tossed wood fired pizzas! Love it!

Google
The place is decent. But it can be outstanding. With minor improvements. Simple touches like providing both a knife and fork and not just a fork when you have ordered a salad. The location is exceptional. The service is friendly but not shooting for a high enough bar. The pizza is really very good. We chose this place so we could sit there and watch the colours of the sky change as the sun sets. It’s a great location for that. With a draw like that, the place has far more potential than I think has been realised.

Google
We've been here a few times over the past couple years while passing through Port Angeles. The beer and food are good. The beer is overpriced at $10 a pint. Perhaps we are paying for the view? Their pizza is quite good - it is in the style of pizza made in Naples Italy, which is the best in the world. If you can sit outside on a sunny day, I would highly recommend this place. But inside it is dark and there is a funky smell.

Google
Crust is nice and chewy. Sauce tasted fine but the cheese. Not sure what was it but it was not mozzarella. It looked and tasted like American or mild cheddar cheese. And I love cheese but that killed it for us. Wife couldn’t even eat it. $54 for 12” pizza, small salad and one beer is a little too stiff considering it’s Port Angeles and not downtown Seattle.

Brendan Hutchins

Google
Stopped at this place only because the restaurant we were planning to eat at had a 1.5 hr wait. After eating here the takeaway from the group was “We are eating greatly overpriced, just slightly better than frozen pizza in a place that feels like someone’s dingy garage.”. One star for decent beer. One more star for quick service. I’d recommend almost any chain pizza over this place, except maybe Little Caesar’s. Edit: The owner responded and obviously lacks the reading comprehension to understand what I said in my review. I would not complain about wait time in a busy restaurant, I know how food service gets sometimes. I even said I added a star for quick service, but I guess they missed that part. The wait I was talking about was for a bistro nearby that our party originally wanted to go to. And I don’t count canned olives and sliced raw bell peppers with ham on a $26 dollar pizza to be “high quality”. Taking a further star away because the owner refuses to read or listen.

Yelp
Great pizza, nice beer choices, and good service Love to meet friends there! I love the white sauce pizza

Yelp
Decent option for food and beer after a long day of hiking. They have N/A beer option which was nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Right by the water. You have to order at the counter and seat yourself. We got the curry pizza and pepperoni pizza. The crust was chewy and nice. But, I thought the curry pizza was a little band. The pepperoni pizza was slightly better.

Rick K.

Yelp
I'll start with the good stuff. The food was great. The pizza was really quite good. A small side salad was more than enough to share. However, service was nonexistent. Some tables got extra plates and napkins. We did not even get a plate for our pizza. We asked for more salad dressing and it never came. The salad was way bigger than its bowl and was hard to eat. The manager was busy fixing the bathroom that was out of order. Yikes.

Austin M.

Yelp
The food was made in a rush, but comes at an extreme (tourist) price. The onions in our pizza were supposed to be caramelized, but were next to raw. A $30 pizza better be perfect...these certainly were not. Come here if you are a tourist I guess

Yelp
TLDR: Quick service, fun ambience, good food Stopped by Barhop Brewing & Taprooom while visiting Port Angeles and we had a great time. The pizzas were good and their sour dough breads are absolutely wonderful. They were able to customize the sauces and toppings for our orders. The appetizers - cheesy garlic bread an bruchetas are amazing. The beer collection is also fairly wide and makes for a good outing overall.

Yelp
Wood-fired Pizza and Barhop craft brew. Nuf said? No? Huh yelp says short reviews are good too and then they tell you they are too short.
google avatar

Yelp
Take away pizza is super to order and bring home! We were tired today and didn't want to cook, so on our way home, we ordered and picked up a large veggie pesto! It had house made pesto, artichokes, caramelized onion and lots of peppers! So yummy!
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty pizza, really good beer, and a cool building to enjoy it. The calzone had delicious chewy dough, and I liked the unusually spicy pepperoni. Beer spreads across many styles, something for anyone. Plentiful free street parking around.

Yelp
WE WON'T BE BACK! The Barhop in Sequim is clean, and has a great atmosphere. The Barhop in Port Angeles is a pit ! The walls are dirty, need paint or at the very least, cleaning. The ceiling is insulation, with various electrical connections poking through. The food is too expensive, but good. The service was fast on a busy night. We don't drink beer, so we cannot rate it for beverages. If the food hadn't been good, this would be a one star rating. The noise level was epic. One of us had to turn off their hearing aids...which wasn't even necessary at a loud music venue at the Field Art and Events Hall that we attended after we ate. The public restroom was disgusting. A few months ago we drove 3,000 miles across this country. We rate this the 3rd worst restroom in that trip. The walls were dirty, as was the floor. And that toilet seat, if it had an expiration date, we'd say it needed to be replaced 14 years ago, and then annually after that. The only clean spot in the room was the baby changing table, which was as it should be. When we see a disgusting restroom in an eatery, it makes us wonder what the kitchen looks like! We'd nominate this entire bar/restaurant for a Robert Irvine (Host of Restaurant: Impossible) make over! Unless that actually occurs, we won't be back!

Yelp
Nice, chill place. Great ambiance. We ordered a beer flight. The beers were fine although not too memorable. A couple I would definitely order again. We didn't try the pizza. I have a feeling that we would have liked it. They looked good as they were being taken out to other tables.
google avatar

Kassiel G.

Yelp
Very chill and laid back atmosphere, but a lot of flies in and out of the place. The pizza was good, but the "cheesy bread" was just a cheese pizza with no sauce as you can see from the pictures lol. Tasted good but it wasn't really the normal cheesy bread we had in mind. Tried some ciders though and those were great!

Gail S.

Yelp
Amazing good!!! It was so good we went back the next day. Spicy pizza so delish. Garlic knots were better then the cheesy bread.
google avatar

Lindsay P.

Yelp
We came here after a long day of hiking. Street parking was mostly full, so we had to drive around for awhile. It is a seat yourself restaurant, and order from the bar. My boyfriend said the beer was good, and they actually had topo Chico! I got the pesto veggie and he got the spicy pepperoni- I thought it was decent pizza, not amazing and he said the "spicy pep" wasn't spicy at all... the decor was odd- nothing made sense and the bathrooms were gross, but typical dive bar. The tv layout also didn't make sense. I probably wouldn't go again.

Dexter D.

Yelp
Pizza was delicious! The crust was nicely browned and the sauce to cheese ratio was perfect
google avatar

Sritha V.

Yelp
Tried the shiva curry pizza and it was not bad. The crust was really crispy and the cheese was tasty. However, the curry sauce lacked flavor and was quite dry. The service was great and everyone was super sweet. We loved their ranch:)

Roger M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, good food, good beer, service is slow. It's counter service and there's 1 bartender doing everything. Stood in line for 20 minutes just to order. Another 20-30 for the food. It is the 23rd of December and somebodies taken up half the place cause they turned 40. So I blame him. Way to go birthday boy, you ruined the night for everyone.
google avatar

Carrie Z.

Yelp
Excellent pizza (we had it the prosciutto with added pineapple) and beer/cider/wine selection. Dogs welcome (which is always a plus for us) l. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Kent T.

Yelp
Haven't been here in awhile the place was busy and the service was fast. Great place to spend time with your friends. Food was steaming hot and delicious.
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
Cool lady up front told me about the beers and took the order. Great start! A large beer selection and it was good! One off beers that make you want to try them. I wish I had more time to partake in more of them. We ordered 3 pizzas and they were excellent and different. The place is on the waterfront and it has a cool vibe. Yep I will return.
google avatar

Christina G.

Yelp
The pizza is bomb! Not just good. But bomb! This place is family friendly. So bring everybody! The bathrooms signs for the gender neutral bathrooms are funny! And don't worry if you have a little one still in diapers Barhop provides free diapers in the bathrooms. I thought that was a nice touch. Sometimes parents think they have a full diaper bag but they space and don't have enough essentials. This establishment wants to be sure everyone can participate here and everyone can have a good time. The staff was great. When it came to choosing a pizza. And they were not lying. The pizza is very good! We had the 12inch curry pizza... To few this pizza may be a little funky. But we love it. So when we find it on the pizza we snatch it up. It was very good! As tourist we can see that the place was loved by all the locals. It was easy to find. It was in a great location. And we really enjoyed it!
google avatar

Nandani M.

Yelp
Pizza joint with beer and other drinks. We tried chicken pizza (make your own) and veggie pesto. Both were good. The cheesy bread was rather disappointing, it was a flatbread with only cheese. We had expected something similar to cheese sticks from pizza hut lol. Overall, good place for some good pizza!

Karen Z.

Yelp
The pizza and Caesar Salad tasted fresh and homemade. Service was friendly and quick. It's a popular place.
google avatar

Yelp
Barhop location on the waterfront, bike right off the ODT, makes this a regular quick beer stop for us! Indoor and outdoor seating at tall or short tables, as well as bar seating is available. Staff is always friendly, you place your order at the bar and get a number where a server brings your food. My hubby faves for the big hurt ipa and I really enjoy stout, which is extremely well balanced and not over alcohol-tasting like some can be, even if it does have a higher Abv. Split a small pizza as a snack or order a large pie. I have to admit I'm all 5 stars about their beer, but yes, Pizza is solid! I haven't tried any other menu items, hope to try more soon. This location could use a bike rack! ;) Tip: They do offer daily chef's choice pizza of the day and some specials, so check the chalkboard along a back wall. So you may wish to find your seat first, look about the specials then go visit the counter to order. Cheers!

Aaron O.

Yelp
Spare yourself. Don't go. Poor service and your are lucky to get what you ordered. So disappointed. Ordered a pizza salad and beer and they managed to lose the whole order.
google avatar

Walter B.

Yelp
I had the caprese salad and my wife had the standard salad. Our pizza orders were the spicy pepperoni and the Flambe. Everything was excellent.

Bailey S.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible bartenders. The girl with the dark hair was incredibly rude and seemed to have no desire to help me and my husband. I also heard the same bartender belittle the server even though it was very busy in the restaurant and she seemed stressed. The pizza was mediocre and not worth almost $30. I am very disappointed in this restaurant and would never recommend it to anyone.
google avatar

Tana R.

Yelp
The pizza wasn't my favorite but I definitely liked the beer! Great selection of beers and ciders for sure. I wish there was a little bit more of a customer service happening. No one is checking on you about how you like the food and you have to keep coming back to the counter to grab extra napkin, sauce, silverware, order more beer or anything else. Just feels like self-service place that doesn't communicate it too well.
google avatar

Andrew E.

Yelp
Been here a few times, usually as plan B when all the other restaurants in town are slammed. But this would be a good plan A. Pizza is solid. All sizes are personal sizes but order more than 1 in a group and its great for sharing. Beer selection is always good. Big place with no table service (just order at counter and they bring it out) so there's always open seating. Pepperoni with their red.sauce was great. A friend had one with carmelized onions, also real good. Would go back, and mot just went the town is busy.

Yelp
I honestly hate to say this, and I keep hoping it will be different, but Barhop as a restaurant/service has a LOT to improve on in my experiences. I have been going as a local ever since they opened, and will continue to do so & bring in friends visiting town because its really the only option in town for the vibe, location, local beer, and pizza. I don't normally get mad at the small things, but these issues seem to continue worsening, and just keep happening more and more. The issues that I hope they resolve- 1. customer service is so sad. I think there's a couple gals who are friendly when I have seen them, but I don't see them ever anymore. everyone else serving is extremely stand-offish, and have walked away in the middle of taking orders, just not being attentive, friendly or welcoming. Feeling like you're some slug that they have to deal with is not a nice way to start a meal. They have made people wait while they finish a convo with a friend they see in or another employee etc., like deliberately not welcoming the customer or being communicative. there have been several times when my guests & I have been like "wait, are we like in the wrong spot? Are we supposed to sit down first?" To be dramatic, it just feels like they hate that we are there and so beneath them lol. 2. Literally every time I have called an order in in the last 2-3 years, one of 4 things have happened. The most common is that a) they answer the phone but dont say anything at all, and then you overhear, quite clearly, all of the conversations they have- taking multiple orders, talking to customers they know, talking to friends, etc., for 5+ minutes until the phone automatically hangs up (I'm assuming). b) they answer the phone, but then put you on hold and, refer to a). c) the phone keeps ringing and never ends. in all of these cases, I have been the one to keep calling or call back until they can help me. I have literally yelled into the phone like "hello...??" After 4 minutes of listening to the chit chat. Like why are you going to answer the phone and have a customer listen to your banter? Am I not good enough to order food from you & banter too? Lol Management needs to either pay more, hire better, offer training, or do SOMETHING to make their servers happier. Otherwise, make the product $ match the value of the poor experience. Word on the street is that employees are treated very poorly, so if that is the case, it would at least partially make sense why these things happen. Again, as a former customer service/restaurant employee, I always give people the benefit of the doubt. but this has happened so consistently with all different folks, that I seriously am frustrated & just want them to do better??? if it weren't the only place in town that serves pizza & their own beer, I would never go here. That's what my 1 star is for. It's sad, bc it should and could be so much better. maybe being the only one of its kind around has given them a false sense of snobbery. Management- considering that the pizza & location is literally the only reason people go, pay your kitchen staff more. Maybe treat all your employees better/pay them all more, and show what it looks like to be considerate to the people you are serving (bc part of what you do, IS to serve your employees). anyway, hopefully they can make some improvements. Or maybe someone else will open up another brewery with good pizza, so that locals arent forced to fight for their service whenever they want beer & pizza.

Rachael B.

Yelp
Great little spot! Amazing pizza. Great beer. All their beers are their own. They also have cider and wine. Highly recommend if passing through the area! We went after our hike and it really hit the spot. Nice vibe too.
google avatar

Miki M.

Yelp
This place has a nice view, but as far as I can tell they are under staffed or have bad staffing. No one was cleaning or clearing tables outside unless asked. No self-bussing stations to help mediate the mess. Our food was completely burnt. Server asked us if we wanted napkins, and never came back when we said we did. Strange experience. Not at all like what positive reviews are stating. Also, yelp has the more honest ratings and reviews. Their status on google is way different. Would not return.

Darcy G.

Yelp
Great beer spot! Good service, decent food, pretty views of the water and walkable to other restaurants.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Ugh, so much promise, but let down by food... The space and location to the waterfront is great! Classic modern pub vibe with lots of space and seating outside. How's the beer? It's good. Where things start to go sideways is the food -don't expect gastropub, more like out of a deep freeze and onto your plate. The service was friendly and would i go back? Yes for a good beer on the small deck, but i'll skip the food.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Great Serv ice, Great Food and Drink, what else could you be looking for. Seriously this is a great place to sit and have pizza and beer or to bring the entire family, it is comfortable for all who enter their doors.
google avatar

Brett D.

Yelp
We hit this cool spot during our long wait for the ferry over to BC. They do make some very good west coast style Pale Ales and IPAs here, for certain. They have a nice outdoor deck overlooking the bay, and a large indoor space. We sat at the bar and got one of the Margherita Pizzas. It did not disappoint. Cooked just right, a little crispy and with a very well done assortment of toppings. This was a perfect meal before a long ferry ride over to Victoria. I'd stop here again if we're in town.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Great brews, great views, and amazing Mac and cheese! Pilsner is phenomenal and the mosaic ipa as well. Guest cider from 2towns also great.
google avatar

Kathy N.

Yelp
We visited twice and had pizza and beer. They have a good selection of both and they are average. Great stop after hiking or biking. Good location and laid back. If it were cheaper for the average quality it would get another star.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
Food and service above average. Problem is the beer is disgusting and it's a brewery. Do not waste your time or money it will only encourage them to put off shutting down or firing their brewmaster. Seriously this is the PNW and there is great beer making talent and farm fresh hops all around us. Very sad this is all they get in PA.
google avatar

Lynne C.

Yelp
I called from Sequim to order on my way home and when I arrived I heard the cashier/kitchen conversation that confirmed my order was non-existent. Fortunately I had a phone call that distracted me from the 25 minutes it took to make my order. AND THEN IT WAS THE WRONG ONE ....which I didn't see until I was home in Joyce. Suck-o. FYI the beer was pretty good.

Dean M.

Yelp
Bbbbruschetta! Caprese! Whoever is making it this summer deserves a big hug (and tips!). A big improvement. I love the Shiva and several other pizzas, but while the tomatoes are on point, I am eating these to freshies. Few mid-price restaurants anywhere do this as well. Thank you!

Rodney P.

Yelp
Good pizza and beer but slow service, terrible communication. Often not open when their signs and website say they will be, randomly closed without warning or notification to their patrons, and they seem to be okay with disregarding feedback. Good luck.
google avatar

Carson A.

Yelp
The food wasn't too bad, but we had to wait in line 3 times during our visit. The first line was to order our food, approximately 20 minutes. The second line was to get a table, approximately 15 minutes. The third line was to pay our bill, over half an hour! We were also told that we would have to wait in line again if we wanted to order additional food or beverages. Unless you couldn't care less about your time, I would avoid this place. Very unorganized. Transaction # 413996 for verification.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
Stopped in because we love beer and pizza. Brews we had were the Summer Sipper IPA and Citra Sonic IPA. Both were good. For pizza I ordered the Vegetarian Pesto and it was delicious! Came with yellow and red pepper, carmelized onion, pesto sauce, and artichoke hearts, all on my favorite...a sour dough crust, which was baked to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the Shiva Curry pizza, which came with italian sausage, sweet red peppers, coppa, and their own curry sauce. Unfortunately, they were out of coppa, so we substituted pepperoni, and added mushrooms, garlic, and basil. His also came on a sourdough crust, but his came blackened (which he loved). I'm a vegetarian but I tried his and it was really really good! Next time in Port Angeles, we will for sure return.
google avatar

Carolyn P.

Yelp
If you're in Port Angeles, and you want a beer, maybe some pizza, and a view of the ferry line, Barhop cannot be beat. It's the unpretentious local vibe that you crave instead of a stuffy water-viewed classy joint. The pizza was surprisingly good and we really enjoyed trying their in-house beers. Grab a table near the window to watched the ferry come and go from Victoria!
google avatar

Lori M.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a quick dinner and beer after a long day of hiking. The beer was cold and delicious! We shared the prosciutto pizza and it hit the spot. Far exceeded our experience at a different local joint from the previous night, at half the price.

Kate G.

Yelp
Beautiful view, reliable hours, great food, local beer, best wait times in PA for a table. Highly recommend. Also vegan friendly.
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
Closed the kitchen 45 min before closing with a huge line of peoplewaiting. Turned lots of people away. Total amateur hour here sadly. The pizza is good and the brews are delicious but the service is lacking and they just want to get out right when the store closes. They turned away $100s in business tonight and it was a huge disappointment. If this place did a better job operating it would be a really nice spot.
google avatar

Max K.

Yelp
Great artisan pizza and good stuffed jalapeños. Beer is good, especially like the porter. Good vibe, nice mix of locals and tourists. Close to the water and the ferry terminal. I wish the they stayed open later, but like other businesses they are hurting for staff.
google avatar

Owen S.

Yelp
First time to the Sequim location and well worth it! Great service, proprietors are very attentive make you feel welcome. Food is very delicious and serving are very generous. If one is looking to have a quick bite or a relaxing meal, this is where you want to go!!!
