"Rustic Italian charm meets Southern elegance at one of the best locations in the city. Owned by Paul Marino of Red 7 Pizza, Barino embraces that Italian-Southern fusion with dishes like the Gustosa (a combination of smoky pork, bourbon barbecue marinara, and housemade penne) and pizzas topped with fig jam, mozzarella, and creamy goat cheese. With an extensive list of wines, Barino is the perfect spot for a family dinner or date night." - Chanel Rene, Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Really wanted to love this place. The appetizers were good and the atmosphere was excellent. Lots of space between tables and a great vibe. 2 of us got a dish with the vodka sauce and it just wasn’t good unfortunately. However, 1 person got the lasagna with bolognese and that was great. Lots of the other dishes looked great. I will give this another try because it has everything to be a hidden gem, but it just wasn’t on this day for us.

The restaurant is nice looking with a patio. The staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. The brussel sprouts was crispy, tasty and well executed. The pizza was overwhelmed with green peppers, could have used more sausages. The meatballs and marina sauce were excellent. The Gustosa was a true blend of southern and Italian cuisines. The smoked pork has a nice bbq flavor and the pasta has a flavorful marina sauce. The tiramisu was awesome.

Some of the best fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp I've ever had! Also ordered it the second time it was so good! Shrimp was perfect and not overcooked. Also the fried ravioli was good and another wonderful appetizer was with tomato, mozzarella drizzled with a delicious balsamic vinegar. Great cheese cake as well. Go early! They open at 4PM and it fills up fast.

Stopped in as passing through town. Enjoyed our experience, food, and service. We had the Pollo Parmigiana and the Speziata. Both were very delicious and the portion size was well worth the price. The bread was delicious. I highly recommend and will hopefully be back when coming through again.

Best Italian food I’ve had in a very long time! We met friends there for dinner tonight. We drove about 45 minutes from our town to Columbia and were not disappointed! Definitely make reservations because the seating area is limited. The interior is decorated nicely with several tables in the center and booths lining 2 walls. They don’t play music which was nice because we could carry on a conversation without talking over the music. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout dinner. We started with 2 appetizers, the baked/fried ravioli and the basil pesto cheese flatbread. See pictures for menu names. The ravioli was full of delicious stuffing inside a crispy pasta served with a rich tomato marinara. It’s a generous serving of 6 large raviolis. The flatbread is cheesy with a swirl of fresh basil pesto on top. For dinner, I ordered cheese lasagna with red sauce. I was going to get meat sauce, but it was a mixture of beef and pork, which I don’t like. The lasagna was thick with several layers of pasta and cheese and the serving size was generous. My friend ordered the pizza with fig jam, bacon, smoked pork, mozzarella, and goat cheese topped with arugula and balsamic glaze. The crust was crispy and it was topped with plenty of fresh arugula. She really liked it. The other entree we ordered was linguini pasta with shrimp, onions, peppers, chicken, and Italian sausage tossed with a spicy white sauce. There were large shrimp and plenty of the listed ingredients. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. We ordered the tiramisu and cannoli for dessert. The tiramisu was flavorful, but too dense… which is just a personal preference. We will definitely return sooner than later. We spent about $45 per person which included a glass of wine, appetizer, entree, and dessert! A lovely evening with friends!

This was our 1st visit to Barino. We usually would drive to Cool Springs to get Buca-not anymore!! Starter-fresh bread with olive oil- was wonderful. Appetizer-fried beef ravioli with marinara. My husband was extremely happy with this. Salads-both had Caesar-the dressing was housemade...so yummy. Dinner-I picked Chicken Parmesean with in house made pasta. My hubby had their 5 cheese lasagna. We both said this was some of the Best Italian food we had ever had. Dessert-chocolate chip Cannolis-tasted amazing!! We will absolutely be back!

Google
This place is absolutely great. Definitely fine dining Italian Eatery with southern twist! The dining room is gorgeous! The food was delicious! I had the fried sampler and it was delicious, especially with the marina sauce that was given. My choice of entree was the pork pasta with crisp apple slivers on top. The sauce was abousultely flavorful and tasty. As well, the cheesecake topped the night off. They had a selection of wine, but we didn't try any, but I feel like the wine would be tasteful with the food. 100% will try this place again once I'm off the Keto diet 😅

My husband and I made reservations for two a month in advance to spend Valentine’s Day here. This was our first visit. We were sat at a 6 top which was uncomfortable as we started the dinner already feeling odd about being two people taking up that much space for a night we knew would be completely booked. I have worked as a hostess before, and it makes no sense logistically to have two people on a date night sit at a large table meant for a family. I asked, “is this going to be used as seating for anyone else who may come in?” Just to make sure we hadn’t walked into an awkward family style situation. Hostess said “no” and walked away. Already uncomfortable start. Our waitress was kind and helpful, but we sensed she was stressed and in a hurry to get us out of there due to turnover. It seemed we were checked on every 5 minutes and staff was just waiting for us to leave. The entire dinner lasted maybe 30 min because we felt so rushed by the staff. The floor layout had our table right next to the host stand so we could hear how stressed staff was about turnover on a busy holiday night. Not great for what is supposed to be a chill, romantic dinner. The food itself was good, but not amazing for the price. The Ricca pizza was mostly jam and the sweet overpowered the savory. I would give it another shot on a weeknight when tensions weren’t high about serving all their reservations on a Holiday. I literally left stressed out because I could feel the stress from staff. It’s probably a great spot in normal circumstances, but we were disappointed with the experience. Would have much rather stuck with our go-to River Terrace for a nice, unrushed, romantic Italian dinner. Maybe just growing pains?

Yelp
Most authentic Italian food in Columbia!!! We just returned from a trip to Italy and got hooked on their fine cuisine. We were so delighted to discover this cozy little place with great service and delicious Italian menu. It is one of our favorite restaurants here in Columbia!!

Yelp
My daughter, who just turned 17, picked this lovely spot for her birthday dinner, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. One of the things I appreciated right away was the straightforward and concise menu, making ordering a breeze. The appetizers were a hit, and I can't express how much I savored my main course. Located in the charming area of Columbia, TN, the restaurant exudes a rustic ambiance that adds to its charm. I'm already looking forward to returning; this place left a great impression, and it's definitely on my "must-visit-again" list.

George G.

Yelp
Brussel Sprouts appetizer was very tasty, large portion size. Pesto Formagio splendid! Offered outdoor seating. BBQ Chicken Pizza was very good. BBQ sauce was amazing. Crust cooked perfectly. Very fast and friendly service.

Yelp
It is a nice place - we just weren't really that excited about the fusion of Italian and Southern food. We started with the Pommodoro Verde with Mozzarella ( fried green tomatoes) but probably would have liked it better as a salad. For entrees tried the Manzo Al Marsala brisket and pasta- it was closer to a cream sauce than Marsala. So it came across more like max n cheese than Marsala. The Eggplant Parmesan was nice but breaded a bit heavy. Our friends went with the more conventional lasagna and chicken Parmesan dishes which were more traditional and well liked. Still like the location/staff and bold menu choices. Nice place and good execution. We'd go back.... But probably choose the more traditional items for our taste.

John S.

Yelp
Intimate Italian with a bit of southern flair. We ordered their take on the cáprese salad. It was a cáprese with an extra tomato, that was a fried green tomato, with goat cheese crumbles and house ranch as well as balsamic. It was fantastic. The flavors were subtle and everything worked well together. Wonderful! The house bread is unique as well. It is a whole grain bread served with flavored olive oil. It has a sweetness to it that is what good. I had the Alfredo Lasagna with grilled chicken for my main. Again, Alfredo over a five cheese lasagna sounds like too much, but it works. It is not overpowering and the cheese blends together deliciously. The meal was plenty without the chicken added. It was all good. My daughter ordered pizza.... Here is her portion of the post: I had The Ricca pizza with fig jam, pork, bacon, mozzarella, goat cheese, and balsamic glaze. It comes with arugula as well but I had them take it off of mine. It was very delicious. It was on the sweeter side, but the combination of the sweet with the goat cheese and the pork was wonderful. The crust was also perfect! Not too crunchy, not too thick. Would absolutely recommend.

Yelp
I do not write reviews as I have big anxiety but my experience last night was so not great and I just wanted to bring some kind of awareness to it? I really don't know. I am pregnant and thought about pasta for over a week. Yesterday evening, I ordered (to go) over $100 worth of food. I have been here before and loved it so I was excited. I am not a picky eater but I am going to be totally transparent when I say this food was not edible :( My partner and I literally had to throw away most of the food as every single dish had zero flavor at all and to top it off, we found at least one piece of someone's hair (beard hair maybe?) in every single dish. I am not being over dramatic when I say the food was not edible. I am not asking for any kind of refund because I do understand things happen. Idk what I am doing to be honest but it was super disappointing and I just needed to vent about it. I am giving 2 stars only because I can't find it in myself to give less than that.

Yelp
Shrimp Alfredo, Bolognese meat lasagna Mom said the sauce for the lasagna was very good but the lasagna it self was not the best very oily ... The Alfredo was very delicious but unfortunately my shrimp was undercooked they where still white ... I asked to sit in a booth with my mother the lady was hesitant not to sit us in one but ended up doing so ... Place is very cute... Waitress even boxed our pesto flatbread

Samantha K.

Yelp
This is $7 of child's noodles? I also clearly ordered penne. What a joke! Also $85 carryout and not a piece of bread anymore?

Annie H.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Warm and cozy environment with soft music. The brisket is absolutely delicious!

Jessica W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this small local Italian restaurant. The ambience is definitely worth the it!

Brody D.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible!! Went for the first time tonight and couldn't have asked for better service or food. We will def be back!!!!

Ashley V.

Yelp
My husband and I came to Barino Italian this past Friday night for our anniversary and loved it! It was honestly one of my best restaurant experiences. For a weekend, I would recommend getting a reservation, as the restaurant filled up quickly. The atmosphere was wonderful and it felt very cozy, yet special. We were brought bread and oil before our appetizer, which was the fried raviolis. They were absolutely delicious! The service was very quick and friendly. We both ordered the Spaziota (I think that's what it was called) and it was one of my favorite dishes I've ever had at a restaurant! Couldn't reccomended this place more and hope to be back soon.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Always great service! Fantastic food! Good wine selection. Great date night spot! This is a must try!

John S.

Yelp
Barino is a major win for Columbia, excellent surprising first visit. Comfortable and warm rustic atmosphere, varied menu with some classics and some with a Southern touch, will definitely be a regular here. We arrived at about 8:30 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately, they had been busy earlier as we were unable to reserve a table with their online booking system. Our server recommended the Christina Rosso, a Tuscan red blend and it was superb, paired perfectly with our meal. Starter was a fried green tomato Caprese salad, mains were a brisket Marsala and the Speziata with shrimp and sausage, a spicy dish that was absolutely delicious. We also got a large plate of balsamic Brussel sprouts that were roasted to perfection. Everything we had was great and contributed to a wonderful evening. Not a fan of the bread service and some Parmesan would have been a nice touch, but... Service was spectacular and I am particularly grateful for the restaurant allowing us to linger long after closing to finish the wine. If I had one wish for future visits it would be an expanded wine list, its fairly spartan but we were more than satisfied with the bottle we chose. All in all an unexpected 4 star experience, Bravo!

Bill M.

Yelp
Some of the best Italian we've experienced! Great wait staff! Pleasantly surprised that it is in Columbia!

Mary S.

Yelp
YUMMMM!!! We came here one night when the restaurant we tried to go to was shut down for the night. This had been in my list for a while, but I've always been thrown off by the "Southern" in the name right next to "Italian"! Haha. But this place was great! It is a little smaller than I thought it would when looking from the outside, but plenty of tables and an outdoor seating area as well. We can with friends and split the Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer and got a couple bottles of wine. The Brussels were so yummy! My husband and I shared the Margherita Pizza and the Chicken Alfredo. Both were amazing, but I did wish the Alfredo had more flavor or something special to it! Overall, it was a great experience! We will definitely be back!

Tom C.

Yelp
Great food and service. Outstanding overall! Be sure to make a reservation & come Hungary. Wine menu could be expanded.

Gary B.

Yelp
Unbelievably disappointed. Been coming here for some time and its always been great. Not this time. The food was only warm when it came out. My salad was terrible and the lasagna tasted strange. After telling our server she basically ghosted us. This is a high end restaurant, so the product should be right the first time. Last time for us. Worst anniversary dinner ever. They never tried to make it right.

Diane S.

Yelp
I love the drive thru option! The food is always fantastic. And, the staff is friendly. Barino's is a go-to when friends and family are visiting.

Wendy D.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I had the Rustico and my husband had the meatball sandwich. Holly, our waitress, was very attentive and explained the menu. Would highly recommend.

Morgan E.

Yelp
Best food we have had in Columbia! It's a relatively small restaurant so I'd recommend getting a reservation. We waited 20 mins at 6:30 on Friday for 3. The service was great, the food came fast. We got the bbq pizza, a chicken main and a pasta and loved every dish. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. The price was great too in my opinion, $66 +tip for three entrees and a beer. We will be back!

Bill J.

Yelp
Definitely our "go to" place for Italian food. Skip your trips out of town for Italian - you can find great food right here in Columbia.

Justin C.

Yelp
Wow! I have been searching for a great place to eat and this is it. We stopped in Friday night and placed our name on the waitlist. The hostess was very friendly and sweet. We chose to wait outside on the beautiful front porch but not for long since we were called within minutes. The inside is beautifully decorated and has an authentic Italian style. The waitress was very helpful and had a great attitude. My wife and I ordered the basil cheese bread and it was delicious. My wife chose the special which was great and I had the bolognese lasagna. I have to say it was without a doubt the best lasagna I have ever had. What a great experience it was and I can't wait to go back. It's a must!

Taylor E.

Yelp
Food is SO good, i definitely recommend the fried ravioli, it is TO DIE FOR. Every time I go I get the fettuccine because it is that good lol. The service is great as well, i've had multiple different servers and they are all amazing! Definitely recommend this place!

Jojo M.

Yelp
It is okay food. The basic American Italian food.the food was alright to eat but nothing amazing. Our server seemed to of had an attitude problem like she didn't want to be there. I will not be going back.

Devon W.

Yelp
Delicious! The Brussel sprouts appetizer was very good. What a great little place in downtown Columbia. The pasta was definitely fresh and I'm sure even made there. The Eggplant Parmesan was excellent!!! Hubby had the Rustica pasta with vodka sauce, it was good but not something he would order again. That's the only reason for the 4 star. We can't wait to go back and try a few different things on the menu! Service was good and the inside is beautiful!

Sherman M.

Yelp
Wow is all I can say. If you are in Columbia skip the garden up the road and give this gem a try. Great service atmosphere and food.

John G.

Yelp
My wife and I tried it for the first time tonight. We were very happy with the atmosphere, the service, and especially the food. We highly recommend this place !

Chester H.

Yelp
We had a 7:15 reservation. It was opening night and they were slammed. We were seated by 7:25. It took about 5 min before a wonderful waitress came to get our drink order. They had 1 experienced waitress one new waitress. The owner was helping get bread out and was running food to tables. We started with the Fried Beef Ravioli as our appetizer. They were fresh and very tasty. The stuffing was great. The marinara served with it was very flavorful. The right blend of garlic and sweet. The portion size of 6 ravioli for $8 was fantastic for two or three people. It came out in just under 10 min. We placed our dinner order when the ravioli were brought to the table. Our meals arrived about 15 min from when we ordered. Just right! The pollo alla parmiggiana was fantastic. It was served with an al dente linguini and the same great marinara that was with the ravioli. They have numerous pasta dishes but for a modest $3 up charge you can get their homemade 5 cheese lasagna with any of the toppings. Of course we had that with the brisket Marsala topping. It is my new favorite dish. The brisket was worthy of a Texas eeehaw! and the Marsala has a great classic flavor. We finished with cheesecake made in house. You won't find a better one in this area. Absolutely wonderful. We saw several tables that had issues with service but it's their first night and had a brand new waitress. That will be overcome. I will become a dining regular here. The food was perfect, the staff was working hard trying to get it all right. Even though they had a few stumbles I still give this a full 5 stars! Don't miss this fantastic new dining spot in Columbia!

Ed N.

Yelp
We were back on 6/25. as I said last time you have to get the fired green tomatoes with the mozzarella appetizer. Everyone ordered somthing else and there was not a thing left to take home. Not because the potions are small but because it is so good. The service was amazing. I think his name is Carin. Poor guy kept going back and forth to give us small tastes of wine and beer to make sure we would like it before we ordered. I ended up with Ice tea. I love this place but please get some more beers. I do not like IPA's so the beer list is tough for me. I understand it is hard to inventory a lot of beer, how about some Coors? No Coors lite. See you again soon. Make a reservation or you will be waiting

Patricia J.

Yelp
Never had a bad experience here at all. Great food and service. Just wish they would change up the menu once in awhile. This is southern Italian so you need to be aware of that. My employer rented out the restaurant during the day and we planned a menu. They did an outstanding job!

Tristan L.

Yelp
Our server Holly was just the sweetest!! Her recommendation of the cheese bread was great! We loved that everything was homemade! A great mix of classics and specialties on the menu.

Mark E.

Yelp
Really very good food and service. Maybe slow it down just a bit between courses.. but excellent service and food. Atmosphere was great and kid back. Need liquor by the drink also.

Brigitte S.

Yelp
Consistently good. Wonderful concept of blending traditional southern and Italian food. Tiny and lovely space. Service is always on point.

Heather R.

Yelp
In the area for business and came across this place. I'm not certain what part is southern besides the hospitality, but the food was delicious. I think the menu may be more limited because I didn't see the fried green tomato caprese. Regardless, everything we had was great and the waitress and hostess were very friendly and efficient.

Matt B.

Yelp
Place was better than we thought it would be. Delicious scratch made noodles and sauces. This is a must try and a hidden gem in this town. We got the Alfredo lasagna with Parmesan chicken in top. It was amazing. Even the lasagna noodles seemed to be from scratch. I got the "panini." This was not a grilled panini. It came in fresh baked focaccia, had tons of pepperoni and salami, a thick slice of mozz, candied bacon, balsamic glaze, and arugula. The sandwich looks very underwhelming, but rocked!!! My wife doesn't do lots of meats and she was asking me for more bites. Flavor. Flavor. Flavor. We did get a baked ziti to go for our daughter. I took a bite and it seemed the red sauce was a bit odd, but again, fresh noodles. The tiramisu is homemade and very good. The spring salad with passion fruit vinaigrette was really good. Overall, the service wasn't as good as the food. She was nice and I believe she was trying, but a few things were forgotten.

Michael B.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent service. Great date night restaurant. It took me too long to try it.

Kate S.

Yelp
Great food food and lovely atmosphere! We have yet to be disappointed by this restaurant. It's nice to have a local, authentic Italian place in Columbia. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu although the chicken parm and cannoli are exceptional. Service can be hit or miss but has never kept us from returning. We visited tonight and our server, Aubrey, was amazing and definitely made it a great experience.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing ! The bread was so delicious! Just moving here and do happy to find an authentic Italian restaurant . Zea was very nice and helped us pick our meals ! Best lasagna I've ever had !

Latalia G.

Yelp
Good Italian food. Really enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer. The atmosphere is also very nice.

Jack S.

Yelp
We're very fussy about Italian food (right? Every Italian cook makes the best sauce and all others pale in comparison). This is rustic Italian with a Southern flair and it is very good. It's not a pizzeria so be prepared to be adventurous with your palate. It's well worth it! Enjoyed the Valentines Day special, which was a really good value and a very nice evening. Service staff is friendly and professional and the food could absolutely compete in Nashville or Franklin. In fact, it is probably better than any similar restaurant in those two foodie Mecca's.

Rebecca F.

Yelp
I'm Italian and was really hoping Columbia had finally opened a truly Italian restaurant. My hopes were dashed after trying Barinos. The food is a southern cooks best attempt but falls very short. (I'm not sure anyone in this establishment knows about olive oils, cheeses or fresh pasta) Barinos is also attempting to have "fine dining" experience, but this too falls short. The waitresses are not skilled, clumsy (dropped food on me), served stale cold bread with oil (no balsamic or herbs), and the oil was cheap. They also served my husband a dish he didn't order and didn't offer to take it back and replace it with the dish he ordered. Instead said "this will have to do!" Wow, just wow. My lasagna was just gross. Bland, no taste of any herbs and I'm pretty sure kraft cheeses were involved. (Really???? Kraft cheese!) But all is not lost, I found a place called Mama Milas that recently opened in the downtown square, now that's amazing authentic Italian!

Shelley P.

Yelp
We visited last Friday night. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich on their homemade focaccia bread and it was amazing! The homemade marinara was so good, seriously the best I've ever had. We will definely be back!

amy b.

Yelp
I wanted to leave a 3 star review, but then I saw that the owner seems like such a kind person, responding to every comment and I didn't have the heart to do it. The service was lacking (didn't bring me a water the whole time we sat there), food was under-seasoned, and when we asked the waiter for menu recommendations he simply suggested the most expensive menu item, which immediately turned me off. On a positive note, the ravioli app was good and the chef was friendly. I feel this establishment needs to re-assess their recipes. Maybe narrow it down to only serving a few incredible dishes rather than several mediocre ones.

Cassandra F.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. I never expected to find something like this in Columbia but I was seriously so impressed. The food was amazing, the service was great and I was able to bring my pup to eat with us on their outdoor patio. Great ambience and again - the food is SO yummy. We started with the cheesy pesto bread, then I had the Alfredo pasta and my partner had the Gustosa. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and had plenty to take home. We also got cannolis to go and those did not disappoint. I have to go back!!!

Donna F.

Yelp
Dined at Barino for the second time. The food is good, but the hospitality leaves much to be desired. Both times Zea was our server. Rushed into ordering and no smiles or welcoming. Needed to ask for parmesan cheese, and when I requested another spoonful, the look on her face was appalling. This type of attitude from a server made the meal and time there undesirable. Not sure I would go back. Good food with better service elsewhere.

Brie S.

Yelp
Cannolis and coffee. These two things alone make it one of my favorites spots in Maury County. This is a small restaurant with limited seating so reservations might be a good choice if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night or have a large party. Staff is mature, professional and knowledgeable. A must try.

Claire M.

Yelp
This is a great choice for delicious food in a cozy environment. The wait staff was friendly. Highly recommend!

Rikki J.

Yelp
We had a fantastic meal! Service was excellent, food came quickly & hot. Everything was tasty & our plates were almost licked clean!!

Tone S.

Yelp
Overall great experience! We ate here last night w a group of 7 adults and kids mixed. The pasta must be homemade - fettuccini and penne was really fresh tasting. The sauces and proteins in the dishes were great. The pizzas were good. The fried ravioli appetizer was not bad but we may try something else next time. Sadly they were out of lettuce so couldn't try the Caesar salad. Wine selection is small but good. Overall great being in a city (Columbia) with limited restaurant options. We will be back!
