A week later, I still have unresolved feelings about BP. Rating this place was a struggle because every great aspect seemed to be countered with a significant downside.
I was initially impressed with the sheer number of quality coffee roasters represented here- Four Barrel, Intelligentsia, Stumptown, Verve, and more. But I would rather they roast their own in house. That said, why have a roaster in the building if you aren't using it? Aesthetic? No thanks.
Tried a couple of lattes here, my mom liked her whiskey caramel and my bourbon vanilla was okay. Overpriced at about $7 each for the 8oz, without any extra shots or specialty milks. I would have rather stuck with a cold brew, not only for more pronounced coffee flavor but because a simple latte at 6:45AM on a weekday with no line took literally 20 minutes and somehow wasn't even received hot. The barista looked busy but I couldn't figure out what he was actually doing unless he was making drinks for the staff?
Food menu. I like that they offer one, and their baked goods display visually persuaded me to get the cranberry-pear poptart and it was, hand to God, amazing. I'm not a flaky-pastry person but damn, this was so good, fruity without overpowering, and just. damn. good. But my mom's burrito was BS, totally phoned in, not even chorizo as listed.
The location is gorgeous and convenient to my Cyclebar workouts, love the patio for afternoon meetups, there are so many tables for working, and no one hassled me for lingering. I don't understand the need for a gift shop area with a bunch of merch, but whatever. The service was largely absent. Interaction was limited to, what do you want? and this is your total. chain coffee baristas have been more engaged with me with a line six deep at a drive-thru window than any of the staff were here over multiple visits.
