The exact taste of swahili dishes. Finger lickings meals. The food was so delicious I literally remembered to take a photo after I was done!!🤣🤣

...never disappointing. The food here is authentic coastal. The mandazi and baraazi are absolutely the best and delicious with a cup of tea. Parking on the street can be a bit of a problem. Once inside you order your food, pay for it and take a seat. Plenty of tables and chairs available both on the ground floor and upstairs. There is also VIP area. Enjoy traditional dishes like, liver and onions, biryani etc. They also cater special occasions. You can now order online too.

Huge location with some options. They don’t have a menu, which makes you afraid of being scammed 😹 but the food has a decent price, and good taste for the price.

The Chicken Biriani is really tasty. Portions are very generous. I wish I could eat more, keep washing it down with the sugar cane juice with a hint of ginger and lemon.

Barka, once my absolute favorite, has sadly declined. Their prices no longer match the quality, which has significantly decreased. Hygiene is also a concern. With so much competition, a major revamp is needed. The masala chips I recently had were far inferior (and more expensive) than those at other restaurants. Even their breakfast, which I used to love, was awful. This isn't an attack, Barka, but a plea to improve. I've always loved your restaurant and hope you can bring the quality back up to where it was. Currently, I'm very disappointed.

While at Barka, be sure to try out their spiced tea, definitely the most amazing I have tasted in Kenya so far. The chicken shawarma is equally amazing.

The buffet service style is fun and interesting. I enjoyed every bit of it. You should also try out their VIP section. It's totally worth it.

A true gem in Old Town! Reasonable prices for delicious, local Swahili cuisine. As with most cuisine of the coast, definitely catered more towards meat-eaters, though there are great vegetarian options as well, such as the potato dishes and the breads.
