"For fresh oysters, it doesn’t get better than the BYOB seasonal raw bar and dining outpost at Barnegat Oyster Collective. The group of independent oyster farmers based along the Barnegat Bay and the surrounding waters largely sell to restaurants and retailers, but at the Collective’s retail shop, the shellfish comes directly from the bay to your plate. Place your order at the window and they’ll do the shucking for you—two bucks for a local oyster ($3 for the out of state varieties, but why order those when the Jersey options are this good?). Beyond bivalves, the menu changes but might include Italian-style swordfish sausage, sauteed garlic clams, or crab cakes. Snag one of the dockside picnic tables and tip back a dozen paired with a bottle of white. Can’t say enough about Barnegat Oyster Collective. The owners are wonderful, the meals are elevated and fresh, and the location is lovely. The plating of the meals is exquisite. I love how fresh and unique the ingredients are, and here, you’re always going to have a good experience. A must!

The food here is absolutely delicious — beautifully plated and full of flavor. The seared tuna with curry was fresh and vibrant, while the filet mignon was tender and perfectly cooked. Every dish was presented with care and tasted amazing. Service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and welcoming, which really made the experience enjoyable. That said, portions run on the smaller side, and I did leave a little hungry. Maybe offering something simple like complimentary bread could balance it out. Still, the quality of the food and the great service will definitely bring me back.

This place is great! We’ve ordered Oysters from them before, but this was our first time visiting and we’ll definitely be back. Fun outdoor seating right on the water; can arrive by car or boat. Oysters and other seafood were all local, fresh, and delicious!

Best oysters I have had in years for a buck a shuck! Had 3 varieties when I went, started with 24 and they were so delicious I got 12 more. I’m curious about their private dinner parties. They claim they do an Argentinian style grill.

My wife and I visited this gem on our vacation. We didn't know it was a BYOB establishment, but they had us covered with a nice wine selection. We ordered a dozen raw oysters, fluke ceviche, and the Mexican shrimp cocktail. Everything ordered off the menu was incredible. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was a very thoughtful dish that brought together a great mix of flavors. The outdoor seating is set right on the water where the boats bring their haul in daily. It created an awesome experience. We would recommend this to any seafood lover.

We had such a great time!!! My husband and I celebrated our 12th anniversary today. Our "normal" oyster spot is closed Tuesdays, so we thought we'd try Barnegat. OMG I'm glad we did. Oysters galore from the Collective, plus some salads. Everything was delicious. Dylan was our server/guide/oyster connoisseur/local expert and he was incredibly friendy and knowledgeable. 10/10 would go back.

We had the best night out at yesterday's firepit Friday event. The 5 course dinner was shucked, cooked and served outside on rows of picnic tables right on the bay. The food was outstanding as was the company of the new friends we met at our table and the people working there could not have been more wonderful. Thank you for creating a really wonderful memory and we can't wait for the next one!

Some of the freshest oysters you can get. Everything is really tasty and the atmosphere is cozy. Their set up is much better than it was last year- you can now sit and have service to your table. Great casual spot for very high quality dishes.

Nice place and very nice people! All is delicious! Forget to take photos. It's quite a bit of pricey for a place like this. Five grilled oysters for $23. Again, nice place and nice people, just because of the price, we will not come back again.

My Sister and Brother in Law live within walking distance to the oyster collective. My nephew surprised us and treated us to lunch by walking g over and bringing back a full range of cooked food and raw shellfish. I didn't get a chance to see the place but it's a seafood shop and a fantastic restaurant. We had raw and baked oysters, they were excellent. Raw and baked clams, several seafood dishes a swordfish taco and a carne asada taco that was fantastic. This place is highly recommended.

Late afternoon dinner with my wife and our dog. Gorgeous day to sit outside and enjoy delicious local oysters. We got lucky that they had Maine lobster rolls on a wood fired grill. Absolutely delicious. Can't wait to return!

$1 local oysters on Monday -- you just can't beat it! BYOB. The views are beautiful and they even have a few tables inside if the weather isn't cooperating. The staff is super friendly. Love this spot!

The oysters are amazing!!! This is the third time we've been to the Barnegat oyster collective. The first two times we went they had a lot of seafood and lots of oysters. We were very disappointed in the new menu. We really liked the crab cakes and local sea food menu but now the food is not the seafood we were looking for. They have tried to make it very fancy and the simple seafood is gone and the prices are gone. Too fancy and not great. I will continue to buy oysters but not a fan of the menu and the food.

We went by boat the past 2 consecutive weekends . Each time we both got something different and shared. The food is amazing and the setting is unique. Sit outside and enjoy the weather and the food but don't forget to try the oysters. Being BYOB the cost is extremely reasonable. Great find!
